The paper aims at providing an assessment of the new generation of dictionaries of the Karaim language prepared and published by Karaim speakers over the last two decades. Apart from that, the paper aims at providing a brief analysis of the already existing documentation of the Karaim language. The article is divided into two parts: firstly, the evaluation of the previously published dictionaries of Karaim language is provided; secondly, the new generation of dictionaries published by Karaim speakers, is being analysed, focussing on four works, namely two Polish-Karaim, one Russian-Karaim and one Lithuanian-Karaim dictionary. The dictionaries are being analysed by raising the same question in each case: what information in these dictionaries is provided about the Karaim language? [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Konstantinas Regelis was a famous botanist working in Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas from 1922 to 1940. Following his scientific voyage to Türkiye in 1932, the next year he was planning his another scientific voyage to Türkiye which, eventually, did not take place due to professor’s illness. Based on the findings in the Turkish archives, 9 documents on the planned trip were translated from Turkish and French to Lithuanian containing two letters written by Konstantinas Regelis himself as well as internal communication documents between the Turkish Embassy in Germany, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye. This paper deals with the question of the perception of language in the twentyfirst century by secular representatives of the Maronite community. It is divided into two parts: first, the main aspects of the language role in identity construction (elaborated mainly by Benedict Anderson and Rogers Brubaker), are provided; second, the analysis of the perception of language by the political and cultural representatives of the Maronite community, which was conducted by gathering empirical data, on the fieldwork trip to Lebanon in December 2022, where several semi-structural interviews were carried out. The research suggests that the Maronite community is famous for its multilingualism, in which Syriac, Lebanese Arabic and French languages have contributed substantially to the historical development of the Maronite community and the construction of its modern collective identity. Throughout this process, each language played an important role in forming and explaining various aspects of modern Maronite identity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper deals with the question of the collective memory of the Maronite community in the 21st century as reflected by the secular representatives of the community, based on a fieldwork trip to Lebanon in December 2022. The article is divided into two parts: firstly, the main aspects of the collective memory in the field of identity studies are assessed; secondly, the modern Maronite collective memory represented by the political and cultural representatives of the Maronite community is analysed. The paper provides conclusions about the golden age of Lebanon, the perception of the Phoenician legacy and the connections between Lebanon and the Maronites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
