Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of a credit crunch on a firm's likelihood of conducting an IPO during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study on credit crunch is still limited, the majority of which focuses on the financial crises of 1998 or 2008. Meanwhile, the credit crunch during the COVID-19 pandemic was triggered differently, beginning with the real sector rather than the financial crisis. On the other hand, the industry may take into account conducting an IPO as a solution to the issue of a capital shortage brought on by the crisis. Studies on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic's financial crunch on Indonesian IPO businesses have never been done. When the COVID-19 crisis hit the Indonesian market, it appears from the number of IPO companies and the number of shares outstanding during IPOs in Indonesia that the decline was not as severe and that companies continued to undertake IPOs. While credit growth in the banking sector is more sensitive in Indonesia than in other nations, it nevertheless tends to slow down and even turn negative during the COVID-19 epidemic. By using the logistic regression test, the results show that when funding is becoming increasingly scarce (credit crunch), it would be increasing the probability of a company going for an IPO during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Private equity is an alternative source of funding in the form of not-listed equity. The increase in private equity deals value comes with unavoidable exit strategy plans in times of divestment cycle. This study aimed to examine the factors that can help private equity firms choose a suitable exit strategy. By observing 217 private equity companies that exited from investment in the Southeast Asia region for the period 2004-2021, it was discovered that mergers constituted the majority of the chosen exit strategy. Based on the results of the analysis using multinomial logistic regression, total funding, funding duration, and investment stage have a positive and significant impact on the exit strategy chosen by private equity firms.

Abstract

This study and analyze the impact of the announcement of the government's social distancing policy on stock returns and the impact of the announcement of the government's health policy on stock returns. This study uses a quantitative approach. The population in this study uses data on the COVID-19 stringency index, COVID-19 containment and health index, and the exchange rate. The results show that the announcement of the government's social distancing policy has a positive and significant effect on stock returns, and the government's health policy has a positive and significant impact on stock returns. recommendations were obtained for the government to accelerate the stability of the stock market by conducting more intensive socialization related to the dangers and prevention of COVID-19 and recommendations for investors to apply the best strategy in investing in pandemic conditions by conducting fundamental and technical analysis, conducting stock portfolios, choosing business sectors that are still needed in pandemic conditions.
