The Philippines had several COVID-19 infection waves brought about by different strains and variants of SARS-CoV-2. This study aimed to describe COVID-19 outcomes by infection waves using machine learning. A cross-sectional surveillance data review design was employed using the DOH COVID Data Drop dataset as of September 24, 2022. The predominant variant(s) of concern divided the dataset into time intervals representing the infection waves: ancestral (A0), Alpha/Beta (AB), Delta (D), and Omicron (O). Descriptive statistics and machine learning models were generated from each infection. The final data set consisted of 3,896,206 cases wherein 98.39% of cases recovered while 1.61% died. The highest and lowest CFR was observed during the ancestral wave (2.49) and the Omicron wave (0.61%), respectively. In all four data sets, higher age groups had higher CFRs, and F-score and specificity were highest using naïve Bayes. Area under the curve (AUC) was highest in the naïve Bayes models for the A0, AB and D models, while sensitivity was highest in the decision tree models for the A0, AB and O models. The ancestral, Alpha/Beta and Delta variants seem to have similar transmission and mortality profiles, while the Omicron variant caused lesser deaths despite increased transmissibility.

Fotoaging menyebabkan dermis dan serat kolagen mengalami penurunan yang mengakibatkan terjadinya penuaan kulit, Genus Bacillus memiliki aktivitas SOD sebagai antifotoaging yang mampu menetralkan ROS ( Reactive Oxigen Spesies ) akibat paparan sinar UV-A. Penelitian ini bertujuan melihat aktivitas ekstrak kasar SOD dan kareteristik enkapsulasi liposom dari B. altitudinis. Penelitian diawali dengan isolasi enzim SOD, penetapan kadar protein total ekstrak kasar enzim SOD dan enkapsulasi liposom, selanjutnya dilanjutkan uji karakterisasi liposom meliputi analisa ukuran partikel, efisiensi penjerapan dan zeta potensial. Hasil pengujian aktivitas ekstrak kasar sebesar 85,09 % ± 1,24 %. Uji kareteristik dihasilkan dengan ukuran 112,96 ±17,3 ; efisiensi penjerapan 81,1% dan zeta potensial 7,0 ±5,1 mV. Hasil menunjukkan partikel liposom SOD B. altitudinis berada di rentang nanopartikel.

Penelitian ini mengambil lokasi di Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Kota Bitung dan Waktu peneltian bulan Desember 2020 – Maret 2021. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian kuantitatif yang menguji hipotesa yang berupa hubungan atau pengaruh antar variabel. Di dalam penelitian ini pengaruh kualitas informasi, kualitas system dan regulasi pemerinah sebagai variabel independen dan implementasi eprocurement sebagai variable dependen. Variabel penelitian terdiri atas variabel independen yakni kualitas informasi kualitas sistem, regulasi pemerintah dan variable dependen yakni implementasi eprocurement yang berhubungan dengan kemanfaatan eprocurement bagi penyedia jasa demi memujudkan tranparansi dan akuntabilitas pengadaan barang dan jasa di Kota Bitung. Analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara kualitas informasi dengan e-procurement dan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara kualitas sistem dengan e– procurement.

Although integral to alleviating serious health-related suffering, global palliative care remains systemically and culturally inaccessible to many patients living in low- and middle-income countries. In the Philippines, a lower-middle income country in Southeast Asia of over 110 million people, up to 75% of patients with cancer suffer from inadequate pain relief. We reviewed factors that preclude access to basic palliative care services in the Philippines. PubMed and Google Scholar were searched thoroughly; search terms included but were not limited to "palliative care," "supportive care," "end-of-life care," and "Philippines." We found that a limited palliative care workforce, high out-of-pocket healthcare costs, and low opioid availability all hinder access to palliative care in the archipelago. Religious fatalism, strong family-orientedness, and physician reluctance to refer to palliative care providers represent contributory sociocultural factors. Efforts to improve palliative care accessibility in the country must address health systems barriers while encouraging clinicians to discuss end-of-life options in a timely manner that integrates patients' unique individual, familial, and spiritual values. Research is needed to elucidate how Filipinos—and other global populations—view end-of-life, and how palliative care strategies can be individualised accordingly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of advertising, many companies use social media as an alternative online advertising. It is more interactive to promote their product. The purpose of study is to determine the comparison of strategies to improve the quality of advertising services on several social media. The results of the validity and reliability test showed that the items of questions for the questionnaire were all valid and reliable. The method used in this study is fuzzy servqual and quality function deployment. The fuzzy logic integration aims to calculate the total weight, average, and gap values of the subjectivity of the results of the servqual method. The proposed improvement in this research is based on data processing using the quality function deployment method. The main target of the proposed improvement by making the most popular company advertisements, providing up-to-date information, lots of promotions, the most interesting features, and many customer interests.

Herb medicinal products derived from plants have long been considered as an alternative option for treating various diseases. In this paper, the feature extraction method used is Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM), while for its recognition using the metric calculations of Chebyshev, Cityblock, Minkowski, Canberra, and Euclidean distances. The method of determining the GLCM Analysis based on the texture analysis resulting from the extraction of this feature is Angular Second Moment, Contrast, Inverse Different Moment, Entropy as well as its Correlation. The recognition system used 10 leaf test images with GLCM method and Canberra distance resulted in the highest accuracy of 92.00%. While the use of 20 and 30 test data resulted in a recognition rate of 50.67% and 60.00%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Hyaline articular cartilage, which protects the bones of diarthrodial joints from forces associated with load bearing, frictions, and impacts has very limited capacities for self-repair. Over the years, the trend of treatments has shifted to regenerations and researchers have been on the quest for a lasting regeneration. We evaluated the treatment of osteoarthritis by chondrogenically induced ADSCs and BMSCs for a long time functional recovery., Methods: Osteoarthritis was induced at the right knee of sheep by complete resection of ACL and medial meniscus. Stem cells from sheep were induced to chondrogenic lineage. Test sheep received 5 mls single doses of 2 × 10 7 autologous PKH26-labelled ADSCs or BMSCs, while controls received basal medium. Functional recovery of the knees was evaluated via electromyography., Results: Induced ADSCs had 625, 255, 393, 908, 409, 157 and 1062 folds increases of collagen I, collagen II, aggrecan, SOX9, cartilage oligomeric protein, chondroadherin and fibromodullin compare to uninduced cells, while BMSCs had 702, 657, 321, 276, 337, 233 and 1163 respectively; p = .001. Immunocytochemistry was positive for these chondrogenic markers. 12 months post-treatment, controls scored 4 in most regions using ICRS, while the treated had 8; P = .001. Regenerated cartilages were positive to PKH26 and demonstrated the presence of condensing cartilages on haematoxylin and eosin; and Safranin O. OA degenerations caused significant amplitude shift from right to left hind limb. After treatments, controls persisted with significant decreases; while treated samples regained balance., Conclusions: Both ADSCs and BMSCs had increased chondrogenic gene expressions using TGF-β3 and BMP-6. The treated knees had improved cartilage scores; PKH26 can provide elongated tracking, while EMG results revealed improved joint recoveries.
