Abstract

Osteoporosis is a disease in which bone mass and structural strength decrease, leading to increased fragility and susceptibility to fractures in the face, neck, spine, wrist, etc. It's a disease that doesn't display any symptoms until a break occurs; in other words, it's a silent illness. Sometime it also utilised frequently in dentistry application such that to detect osteoporosis during the operation or implanting on maxilla. This body of work shows that, despite major breakthroughs in medicine, there remains a unique role for the development of novel tools for the diagnosis of osteoporosis. In this work, we present an osteoporosis detection system developed using image processing and support vector machine (SVM) techniques. Compared to prior studies in this area, the data collected by the technology established in this study—which includes 50 sample photographs of the tibia—is of high quality. The proposed method achieves an impressively high level of accuracy (83.6% with 50 samples) because to the inclusion of the histogram feature and the use of tissue properties during feature extraction. Abstract

Background: The surface treatment to improve the repair bond strength may vary because CAD/CAM provisional restoration polymers exhibit a variety of microstructures. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of surface treatments on the repairability of three different CAD/CAM polymers for long-term provisional restorations. Methods: Thirty specimens from each provisional restorative materials (CAD-Temp, Everest C-Temp, and PEEK) were divided into three groups: C: surfaces received no treatment; SB: surfaces were airborne particle abraded with 50 μm aluminum oxide; SB-T: surfaces received the same conditions as group SB in addition to thermocycling before and after treatment. Primer and nanohybrid repair resin composite were applied to the prepared CAD /CAM surfaces. The shear bond strength and the mode of failure were assessed. ANOVA and Tukey's significant difference tests were used to evaluate the data. Results: The SB group had significantly higher repair SBS values (p <.001) compared to the other groups (C and SB-T). Everest C-Temp significantly recorded the highest repair SBS (17.84 ± 0.19 MPa) in group SB, while the lowest repair SBS values (5.51 ± 1.14 MPa) for CAD-Temp were recorded in group C. PEEK significantly recorded the second highest repair SBS (15.96 ± 0.18) in the SB group. Conclusions: Everest C-Temp had the highest repair SBS after an airborne abrasion particle. Thermocycling had no significant effect on the repair SBS for PEEK. Everest C-Temp and PEEK are recommended as long-term durable provisional materials for clinical use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background: Job satisfaction is an essential factor for successful practice. Dentistry has evolved as a profession, offering a wide range of services, from preventive to complex rehabilitation of the orofacial region. Aim: To evaluate job satisfaction amongst dental practitioner in Al Kharj region, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Methodology: A questionnaire-based cross-sectional survey among dentists working in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia. A total of 123 forms were distributed directly to the dentist working in the area. Statistical analysis were carried out using IBM SPSS version. Comparison of variables was done by using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the two-sample t-tests. Results: About 48.88% of the dentist were satisfied with overall professional satisfaction, 12.22% were dissatisfied, and 38.88% had a neutral response. The total career score in relation to income, patient and professional relations, respect and personal time were statistically significant, followed by the delivery of care. Overall professional satisfaction, patient relations was the most significant factor. Conclusion: The professional satisfaction amongst dentist showed more satisfied practitioner then neutral followed by few dissatisfied dentists. Dentists with Masters/Ph.D. degrees were more satisfied than the others. Males were more satisfied compared to females regarding personal time, and female dentists were more confident with respect.
