Abstract

The article provides information on the 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry (OVI) that served in the United States Civil War and participated in battles such as the Battle of Cross Keys, the Second Bull Run, the Battle of Chancellorsville and the Battle of Gettysburg. It discusses F Company First Sergeant Andrew Holden's involvement with the 73rd OVI and explores how he came to serve among its ranks. The article also provides letters written from Holden to his fiancé, Catherine Highland. The letter express Holden's love for Catherine, lonesomeness and various changes in the 73rd OVI.
