Abstract

A deeper understanding of what factors influence metacognition has never become more pressing than in today's digital era, in which information flows constantly and quickly. To this end, the present study explored the role of culture in mediating how individuals experience metacognitive phenomena. For this purpose, the International Group on Metacognition (IGM) developed a rigorous standard international protocol to measure metacognition in Spanish-speaking university students (N = 1,461) in 12 cultures in Latin-America and Spain, employing both a subjective measure of metacognitive awareness (the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory [MAI]) and various metrics of objective metacognitive monitoring across three domains of learning--vocabulary, probabilities (mathematical reasoning), and paper folding (visual-spatial reasoning). Data were subsequently compared across the various cultures with subjective metacognitive awareness and the raw frequencies of the four mutually exclusive cells of the 2 × 2 performance/judgment array as outcomes. Results revealed significant differences regarding both macro-level components of subjective metacognitive awareness, knowledge and regulation of cognition. Further, significant and meaningful differences emerged for the raw frequencies of the four mutually exclusive cells as a function of culture, especially for vocabulary, in which differences among cultures emerged for all four cells. Implications for metacognitive research, theory, and practice are discussed.

Abstract

El proyecto "Integración de la inteligencia artificial en la educación superior a través del uso de herramientas conversacionales y chats para promover la participación colaborativa y la mejora de los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje" se propuso como objetivo principal explorar y conocer plataformas como Chat GPT, Bard/Gemini y Bing/Copilot. Además, se buscó formar al profesorado, personal de administración y servicios (PTGAS) y alumnado en el uso y potencial de estas herramientas, así como utilizarlas de manera intencional y pedagógicamente fundamentada en la docencia del curso 2023-2024. También se evaluaron los impactos positivos y negativos de la IA en la enseñanza y se transfirieron los conocimientos adquiridos a través de publicaciones y participaciones en congresos. Al finalizar el proyecto, se alcanzaron en gran medida todos los objetivos propuestos. Se garantizó el acceso a las plataformas de IA, se realizaron múltiples formaciones abiertas y presenciales, y se fomentó el uso de la IA en diversas asignaturas, lo que permitió un aprendizaje colaborativo significativo. La evaluación se llevó a cabo mediante seminarios y encuestas, obteniendo respuestas de 627 estudiantes y 132 docentes. Además, se logró una amplia transferencia de resultados, participando en jornadas y congresos educativos, y preparando publicaciones sobre el uso de IA en educación superior. Las experiencias del profesorado reflejaron tanto el entusiasmo por las oportunidades de la IA como la necesidad de una formación continua y una gestión adecuada para maximizar sus beneficios y minimizar sus riesgos.

Abstract

La incorparación de las nuevas tecnologías y las redes sociales a la docencia permite al profesorado enseñar desde la creatividad y el espíritu crítico. Son recursos que facilitan la adquisición del conocimiento y supone una aprendizaje significativo y constructivo. Con el uso de Instagram hemos fomentado el aprendizaje del arte contemporáneo de una manera divertida y próxima a los usos y costumbres digitales del alumnado actual. Las distintas publicaciones que se han realizado están relacionadas con los contenidos teóricos que se imparten durante el curso en las asignaturas artísticas del grado de Periodismo. Se explican los movimientos artísticos y se postean los principales artistas con sus obras más importantes. Un total de 9 imágenes en cada post que es lo que permite la aplicación. El proceso de participación para los estudiantes ha consistido en contestar las preguntas formuladas relativas la identificación de las imágenes y los comentarios sobre las obras. Se trata de una herramienta dinámica que ha mejorado la participación del alumnado en clase y que ha proporcionado al profesorado interesantes apreciaciones sobre sus conocimientos, aprendizaje y también gusto personal, ayudando a los docentes a tener una visión sobre la adquisición de los contenidos trabajados.

Ante el escaso hábito lector de los adolescentes, bien reflejado en la encuesta PISA 2022, y su derivación a una gran cantidad de faltas de ortografía en lo referente a su escritura, en este trabajo se busca fomentar la comprensión lectora y la expresión escrita empleando una moda que poco a poco se va afianzando entre los jóvenes en las redes sociales: el roleplay escrito. Por ello, aunando esta nueva modalidad de fanfic más interactivo con un tema de literatura y con el empleo de las TIC, se buscará enseñar las Novelas ejemplares de Miguel de Cervantes al alumnado de una clase de 3º ESO adaptada de una forma innovadora en la cual se implique más al alumno en la tarea a realizar, cumpliendo a su vez las directrices del currículo de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria reflejadas en el Decreto 39/2022 del BOCyL, Given the poor reading habits of teenagers, as reflected in the PISA 2022 survey, and the resulting large number of spelling mistakes in their writing, this project seeks to promote reading comprehension and written expression using a trend that is gradually gaining ground among young people on social networks: written roleplay. P., The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether the inability to feel pleasure towards music — or musical anhedonia — is part of the psychological construct of anhedonia (DSM-5) or whether they are both independent constructs, as suggested by the field of cognitive neuroscience. To assess this objective, six unpublished musical compositions were created to evoke basic emotions. We analysed the level of arousal and valence in a sample of 153 music professionals and 303 students (M = 17.58 years, SD = 4.16) and were able to verify a high consistency between the results of both groups. By using a structural equation model, we subsequently observed a statistically significant high correlation (r = .63, p < .001) between the latent means of valence (pleasure evoked by musical fragments) and levels of social anhedonia, measured by the Anticipatory and Consummatory Interpersonal Pleasure Scale (ACIPS). Furthermore, social pleasure maintained inverse correlations with the emotions of negative valence (Anger, Fear and Disgust) provoked by musical fragments, which allowed us to conclude that musical anhedonia is strongly related to social anhedonia., El principal objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar si la ausencia de placer hacia la música o anhedonia musical, forma parte del constructo psicológico de anhedonia (DSM-5), o si, por el contrario, se trata de constructos independientes como se ha planteado desde la neurociencia cognitiva. Para valorar esta cuestión, se crearon seis composiciones musicales inéditas para evocar emociones básicas. 153 profesionales de la música y 303 estudiantes (M = 17.58 años, SD = 4.16) evaluaron su nivel de arousal y valencia, pudiéndose constatar una alta consistencia entre los resultados de ambos grupos. Posteriormente, mediante un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales, se observó una alta correlación estadísticamente significativa (r = .63, p < .001) entre las medias latentes de valencia (placer que evocan los fragmentos musicales) y la Escala de Placer Anticipatorio y Consumatorio (ACIPS) utilizada para medir niveles de anhedonia social. 40. Analysis of the structural validity of the reduced version of metacognitive awareness of reading strategies inventory

Abstract

The application of metacognitive strategies is considered a basic skill of the student at any educational level. In the present study, we evaluate the reduced version of the Metacognitive Awareness of Reading Strategies Inventory (MARSI-R) in Spanish, a selfreport instrument designed to measure the metacognitive awareness of students and their perception of the strategies that they use while they are reading school materials. MARSI-R is formed by three subscales: (a) global reading strategies (GRS), (b) problemsolving strategies, and (c) strategies to support reading. We conducted a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) in a Spanish student sample (N = 570) and the results shown relative inadequate fit for the proposed theoretical three-factor model. More important, the three subscales presented a high level of inter-correlation, which raises the need to assess to what extent the construct should be considered as unidimensional. We conducted two additional CFA models: a unidimensional model and a bifactor S-1 model, and the results indicated the presence of a strong general factor related to the GRS subscale. These results have important implications, since they imply that it is more appropriate to use the total score of the instrument derived of the S-1 model instead of the scores derived from each subscale. Esta investigación se propone analizar distintos editoriales de periódicos españoles (El País, La Vanguardia, La Razón y Público) y hacerlo en base a los 6 pasos que plantean Santamaría y Casals -basadas en la técnica de Teun A. van Dijk sobre la apología de la ciencia del texto. Si bien la opinión es libre, analizar la forma en la que lo hacen nuestros medios de comunicación es una buena forma de aprender de aciertos y errores. We assessed Alexithymia using the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20). As visual stimuli, we employed the images of faces from the Ekman 60 Faces Test, while the auditory stimuli consisted of fragments of instrumental music. A total of 303 students participated, 139 in secondary education and 164 in the first year of university (M = 17.58 years; SD = 4.16). The results show higher alexithymia levels in the female participants than in the male participants, mainly in the difficulty identifying feelings (DIF) and difficulty describing feelings (DDF) factors, and higher in the secondary students than in the university students, especially in externally oriented thinking (EOT). In terms of the identification of emotions through auditory stimuli, the EOT factor showed a strong predictive effect for the emotions of surprise and anger. For the visual stimuli, the EOT factor showed predictive validity for identifying happiness, while the DDF factor showed predictive validity for identifying sadness. Abstract

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is considered a fundamental variable for a person’s adequate psychosocial adjustment. In education, its importance transcends the level of interpersonal relationships, and has been proposed as a variable that somehow influences academic performance, although there is controversy about whether its effect is direct or, rather, an intermediate variable. The present research analyses, from a sample of 327 students (52.6% female and mean age = 14.5), the relationship of EI with respect to the knowledge and management of oral communication and reading meta-comprehension strategies, which should directly affect different educational outcomes. In order to assess both the direct and indirect effects of these variables, a Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) approach has been proposed, due to its versatility and the possibility of jointly analysing reflective and formative measures. 44. Metacognitive Strategies Applied to Writing as Predictors of Spontaneous Writing Quality

Abstract

Introduction: Writing is a tool for constructing and modifying knowledge. However, it is not easy to evaluate spontaneous writing tasks. In the present study, we selected and analysed a series of quality indicators to assess spontaneous or productive writing, examining the level of difficulty of the indicators and the relationship between the application of metacognitive strategies when writing and the quality of spontaneous writing products. Method: Participants consisted of 480 Spanish students in their 5th and 6th years of primary education and 1st and 2nd years compulsory secondary education (40% females and 60% males). Several tests were administered: a PROESC subtest, EVAPROMES and story writing. In addition, we collected the marks obtained in the previous year for the subject of Spanish language. Results: Spontaneous writing product quality was related to academic achievement in Spanish language, and metacognition, as measured by EVAPROMES, was the underlying variable that explained differences in the difficulty of the quality indicators. Discussion and conclusions: The differences observed in an analysis of indicators by educational level (primary vs compulsory secondary education) appeared to be due to the methodology employed by teachers in class and the standards required. Implementing spontaneous writing tasks that involve the application of metacognitive strategies (meta-writing) would exert a positive impact on students' academic performance.
