Intravaginal drug administration offers several advantages over other routes, primarily bypassing the initial stages of metabolism. Additionally, this route has demonstrated both local and systemic effects. Mucoadhesive polymeric systems can be utilized to prevent dose loss due to the mucous barriers and the formation of wet cavities. This study employed various techniques to evaluate the performance and characteristics of a mucoadhesive film composed of HPMC-PEG 400 containing retinyl palmitate and ketorolac molecules. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was employed to analyze the porous structure of the film. Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) was conducted at different temperatures to assess thermal stability. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to analyze the functional groups and intermolecular interactions between the film and the drug. Swelling and weight loss tests indicated that the film disintegrated within 3–4 days. UV-VIS spectroscopy was used for drug release evaluation based on the Higuchi equation. Additionally, the surface wetting properties were assessed through contact angle measurements. The system's biocompatibility was confirmed using the MTT assay. Finally, adhesion and glide tests demonstrated the film's interaction with porcine uterine tissue. This study shows that the HPMC-PEG 400 film containing retinyl palmitate molecules interacts effectively with tissue and could be considered a novel tool for treating damaged epithelial tissues. Intravaginal drug administration has many advantages in comparison to other delivery routes: its local and systemic effect, lower dosages, and easiness of administration. Furthermore, makes it a reliable and comfortable way of therapy. This route can be used to prevent and treat a wide range of conditions including, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), hormonal treatment, birth control, and cancer treatment. The dosage forms may vary from ovules, tablets, rings, gels, creams, films and many more; lately adding the mucoadhesiveness to the characteristics to reduce the waste of active molecules. This review focuses on the way mucoadhesive polymeric systems have been applied in vaginal delivery. This review presents a bibliographical compilation of results from various investigations published in scientific databases: Science Direct, SciELO, and PubMed Central. Results compiled demonstrate that the intravaginal drug administration can be an alternative form of medication for women with more stable and prolonged results than traditional routes requiring lower doses and avoiding the first-pass effect. Commonly used constitutive laws for crystalline and viscous materials have been compared to predict the densification behavior under hot‐pressing and sinter‐forging. Experimental results, from literature for one loading condition, have been used to extract the constitutive laws for amorphous and crystalline materials and, these in‐turn, have been used to predict behavior under a different set of loading conditions. Ideally, the constitutive parameters obtained from one set of loading conditions and thermal history should apply to a different set of conditions. However, there is a lack of systematic experimental studies in which this can be checked. In this paper, we use constitutive parameters obtained from one set of conditions to predict the densification response under a different set of loading conditions. For both sintering of amorphous and crystalline materials, we use two different constitutive parameters and compare the predictions of these for the case where experimental results are not available. In addition, the effect of temperature on densification behavior for stress‐assisted sintering has been investigated. It is shown that the two commonly used constitutive models for viscous sintering (Scherer and Skorohod–Olevsky) predict similar behavior for amorphous materials. However, for crystalline materials, the predictions of the Riedel–Svoboda and the Kuhn–Sofronis–McMeeking (KSM) models are different. Finally, it is shown that the dependence of the normalized densification on temperature, under constant heating rate conditions, with parameters obtained from isothermal experiments, is a good test for the models. In this study, films of O-carboxymethyl chitosan with Mimosa tenuiflora extract were manufactured, characterized, and evaluated. In this work, both the synthesis of O-carboxymethyl chitosan and the extraction of the active ingredient of Mimosa tenuiflora extract from the cortex are described. First, the extract of Mimosa tenuiflora in water was obtained by precipitation with ethanol, filtering, and concentrating. Subsequently, a study was conducted of scratch wound healing to determine the optimal concentration of extract to be used in the manufacture of films. The produced O-carboxymethyl chitosan films and the Mimosa tenuiflora extract were mixed, and their chemical composition, tensile properties, and wettability were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, mechanical tests, and contact angle measurement. The antimicrobial properties of the films were tested by turbidimetry using two types of bacteria. In addition, a study of the enzymatic degradation of the films with the enzyme lysozyme was performed. Finally, in vitro studies to assess the biocompatibility and cytotoxicity of films with fibroblastic cells were carried out as well as the kinetic analysis of healing in mice. It was found that the addition of Mimosa tenuiflora extract in the polymer matrix of the films made with O-carboxymethyl chitosan improves the proliferation of fibroblast and accelerates wound healing, thus providing a novel biomaterial for skin regeneration. Low density polyethylene (LDPE) and polystyrene (PS) samples were functionalized with oregano's essential oil (OEO) for possible antimicrobial packing applications. Different concentrations of OEO were used (0.5-1.5% v/v). Polymers were UV light irradiated during 60 min to improve the OEO adhesion through the polar groups (COOH, OH or COO-) generation on their surface. The effect of OEO different concentration on their antimicrobial activity, mechanical properties and cytotoxicity of the functionalized polymers were analyzed. All functionalized samples showed antimicrobial activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria and this activity increased with OEO concentration. The addition of OEO did not affect the LDPE mechanical properties. The flexural properties of PS were affected by the OEO highest concentration. A cytotoxic effect was found in samples with 1.0% and 1.5% v/v OEO concentrations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
