Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), octenidine dihydrochloride (OCT), and zinc oxide (ZnO) were used to modify the polypropylene nonwoven material by the methods of 'wet chemistry' and low-energy electron beam deposition (EBD). The influence of nonwoven material modification on the morphology, chemical composition, filtration, and antibacterial properties was established. The modified material has antibacterial activity against the gram-positive strain Staphylococcus aureus and against gram-negative strains of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae (suppression of bacterial growth for materials with OCT was 100%, with ZnO--70%). PTFE application to Aquaspun leads to a significant increase in the contact angle (from 141.3[degrees] to 152.7[degrees]) and air filtration efficiency (from 78.3% to 83.4%), which provides the barrier properties of the material. It was established that the material obtained using low-energy EBD demonstrated a more pronounced antimicrobial potential against the tested strains of St. aureus. Feline nasal lymphoma is generally a localized radiosensitive tumor. Treatment options include radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of both modalities. Radiation therapy (RT) in a combination with chemotherapy lead to median survival from 19 months to 955 days. The objective of this paper is to report a case of a large cell late stage invasive feline nasal lymphoma and to evaluate the results of orthovoltage radiation therapy and its side effects. A 12-year-old female mixed breed cat was presented with nasal discharge, sneezing and hyporexia. Definitive histopathology diagnosis was diffuse large cell lymphoma. Computed tomography revealed an advanced stage of the disease, an intranasal mass, bone lysis, invasion of the orbital space and central nervous system. A radical course of X-ray therapy was performed (SFD = 4 Gy, TSD = 40 Gy, 10 sessions, 3 times a week). Radiation side effects were well tolerated and resolved with supportive treatment. Lymphoma is a systemic process and requires a multidisciplinary approach. On most cases, the penetrating ability of radiation therapy of 3.5 cm in depth is enough for small domestic animals. A significant effect is noted in the middle of the treatment course. The fractionated regime did not cause early radiation damage. The relapse-free period was up to 8 months. The patient had a satisfying quality of life for 5 months. Orthovoltage X-ray therapy can be considered as a treatment choice for local nasal lymphoma. X-ray therapy is a widely used modality in veterinary medicine considering the price of machines and costs of treatment.

High energy physics experiments heavily rely on the results of MC simulation of data used to extract physics results. However, the detailed simulation often requires tremendous amount of computation resources. Using Generative Adversarial Networks and other deep learning generative techniques can drastically speed up the computationally heavy simulations like a simulation of the calorimeter response. To be useful, such models are required to satisfy quality metrics which are driven by a specific physics properties of generated objects rather than by a regular ML image-like quality metrics. The auxiliary regression extension to the GAN-based fast simulation demonstrated improvements of the physics quality for generated objects. This approach introduces physics metrics to a Discriminator path of the model thus allows direct discriminating of objects with poorly reproduced properties. In this paper we discuss the auxiliary regression GAN approach to physicsbased fast simulation and concentrate on requirements to the quality of the auxiliary regressor to provide a necessary precision of the generative models built on top of this regressor.

Simulation is one of the key components in high energy physics. Historically it relies on the Monte Carlo methods which require a tremendous amount of computation resources. These methods may have difficulties with the expected High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider need, so the experiment is in urgent need of new fast simulation techniques. The application of Generative Adversarial Networks is a promising solution to speed up the simulation while providing the necessary physics performance. In this paper we propose the Self-Attention Generative Adversarial Network as a possible improvement of the network architecture. The application is demonstrated on the performance of generating responses of the LHCb type of the electromagnetic calorimeter.

High-entropy alloys are promising materials for novel thin-film resistors since they have high resistivity and a low-temperature coefficient of resistivity (TCR). In this work, a new high-entropy thin-film CoCrFeNiTix was deposited on a Si/SiO2 substrate by means of magnetron sputtering of the multi-component target produced by hot pressing of the powder mixture. The samples possessed a thickness of 130–230 nm and an amorphous atomic structure with nanocrystallite traces. This structure persisted after being annealed up to 400 °C, which was confirmed using X-ray and electron diffraction. The film had a single-phase structure with a smooth surface and a uniform distribution of all elements. The obtained film served for microresistor elaboration, which was produced using the lithography technique and tested in a temperature range from −60 °C up to 200 °C. Resistivity at room temperature was estimated as 2.37 μOhm·m. The results have demonstrated that TCR depends on temperature according to the simple linear law in a range from −60 °C up to 130 °C, changing its value from −78 ppm/°C at low temperatures to −6.6 ppm/°C at 130 °C. Such characteristics show the possibility of using these high-entropy alloy films for resistive elements in contemporary and future micro-electronic devices. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
