Innovations in appliances, such as coffee makers, refrigerators, induction cooktops, vacuum cleaners, and washers were presented at Germany's IFA consumer electronics trade show in 2009. In the trade show, six halls were allotted to appliance exhibitors. BSH, Philips, Electrolux represented Europe, while Korean companies LG and Samsung participated in the trade show.

Appliance manufacturers gathered in Berlin, Germany, for IFA 2009, held on 4-9 September 2009. Appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, and cooling platforms were introduced during the fair.

Engineers at Meccanica Generale designed a less expensive washer tub by shifting structural loads and changing to a different material grade. The company achieved savings of up to 2.50 euros while reducing material processing and molding times by 40% and 15% respectively.

Appliance manufacturers showcased their latest products in an intermediate press conference held in Malta on 18-19 April 2009 for the Appliances @ IFA trade show to be held later that year. Among the participating companies were Panasonic, BSH, Miele, and Philips.

The Combinair air-to-water heat pump and gas combi-boiler from Daalderop significantly improves efficiency while minimizing added costs and installation efforts. The heat pump satisfies the heating requirements of houses while achieving up to 50% energy savings.

French brand Brandt S.A. offers the new Dose-e, a washing machine that features an automatic detergent dosing system that can help reduce detergent use by 30%-50%. The machine can detect if it is powder or liquid detergent that is being used by the user and has a thermometer-shaped reservoir that shows the detergent level inside.

Philips' Simplicity exhibition featured crossover products such as the Living Colors LED light fixture in Russia. Concept products that were featured include the Circle of Life where consumers are able to produce television sets that they have designed while recycling their old units. Other information on Philips' new products like sonic toothbrushes are also presented.

The IFA Berlin consumer electronics show, held from August 29, 2008 to September 3, 2008, added an appliance show, which was welcomed by exhibitors and attendees. The event showed that the general situation in Europe is that the credit crisis has minimal effect. IFA 2008 also showcased energy-efficient appliances.
