1. Macrolide and fluoroquinolone resistance in Mycoplasma genitalium isolated from pregnant women in Russia and Belarus

Abstract: Objective. To study epidemiology of resistance to macrolides and fluoroquinolones in Mycoplasmagenitalium isolated from pregnant women in Russia and Belarus. Materials and Methods. A total of 107 M. genitalium DNA samples isolated from pregnant women in Russia (n = 58) and Belarus (n = 49) was included in the study. In order to detect markers of macrolide or fluoroquinolone resistance, polymerase chain reaction in real time with the effect of quenching fluorescence of the probe by a primer was used. Confirmation of mutation type was performed using Sanger sequencing. Results. The prevalence of M. genitalium resistance mutations to macrolides in Russia (Tula, Smolensk) and Belarus (Vitebsk, Brest, Minsk) was 3.4% (2/58) and 6.1% (3/49), respectively. Markers of M. genitalium resistance to fluoroquinolones were detected in 5.2% (3/58) of samples from Russia and 8.2% (4/49) of samples from Belarus. The most common mutations associated with macrolide resistance were A2059G (n = 4), fluoroquinolone resistance – D84N (n = 3) and S80I (n = 3) (numbering according to E. coli). Conclusions. The prevalence of M. genitalium resistance markers isolated in pregnant women highlights a need for regular macrolide and fluoroquinolone resistance surveillance.

Abstract: Objective. To study the prevalence and mechanisms of antibiotic resistance, including carbapenemase production, in clinical isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli isolated in different regions of Russia as part of the sentinel multicenter surveillance study in 2020–2021, and to explore the population structure of K. pneumoniae and the impact of “high-risk clones” on antibiotic resistance. Materials and Methods. Consecutive, non-duplicate isolates of K. pneumoniae (n = 2503) and E. coli (n = 2055) isolated from various specimens (blood, cerebrospinal fluid, respiratory samples, urine, wound secretions, etc.) of hospitalized patients with clinical signs of infection in 55 hospitals of 29 cities of Russia were studied. Species identification of isolates was performed by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS). Antibiotic susceptibilities were determined by serial broth microdilution or, in the case of fosfomycin, by agar dilution method, and results were interpreted according to EUCAST v13 MIC breakpoints. Carbapenemase production was determined phenotypically by carbapenem inactivation method (CIM), the presence of genes of the most common serine carbapenemases (KPC, OXA-48) and metallo-β-lactamases (VIM, IMP, NDM) was determined by real-time PCR. K. pneumoniae clinical isolates were genotyped and assigned to the known clonal complexes (CC) and sequence types (ST) using SNP typing and multilocus sequencing typing (MLST) methods. K- and O-serotypes, acquired resistance and virulence genes, and plasmids carrying these genes were characterized using whole-genome sequencing of selected isolates (n = 215). Results. The resistance rates of nosocomial/community-acquired isolates of K. pneumoniae were as follows: amoxicillin-clavulanate – 88.63/57.99%, piperacillin-tazobactam – 82.92/45.49%, cefotaxime – 87.74/56.97%, ceftazidime – 84.76/53.07%, cefepime – 81.43/49.18%, aztreonam – 1.63/53.28%, ceftazidime-avibactam – 30, 88/9.22%, ceftolozan-tazobactam – 70.06/31.35%, ertapenem – 72.10/28.69%, meropenem – 49.60/15.16%, imipenem – 44.54/13.73%, gentamicin – 60.82/30.33%, amikacin – 42.06/17.21%, ciprofloxacin – 85.10/49.39%; trimethoprimsulfamethoxazole – 74.38/48.16%, colistin – 5.96/2.25%. The resistance of nosocomial/outpatient isolates of E. coli were: ampicillin – 84.93/67.67%, amoxicillin-clavulanate – 57.37/39.73%, piperacillin-tazobactam – 19.48/8.70%, cefotaxime – 63.83/34.19%, ceftazidime – 45.32/20.34%, cefepime – 35.95/16.61%, aztreonam – 51.78/26.11%, ceftazidime-avibactam – 5.71/0.80%, ceftolozane-tazobactam – 11, 95/2.22%, ertapenem – 8.18/1.42%, meropenem – 5.17/0.53%, imipenem – 4.95/0.36%, gentamicin – 24.54/13.68%, amikacin – 5.49/1.42%, ciprofloxacin – 54, 14/32.50%, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole – 52.21/38.54%, fosfomycin – 2.48/1.43%, colistin – 1.60/1.07%, tigecycline – 6.35/3.11%. The frequency of carbapenemase production among K. pneumoniae nosocomial isolates was 65.32% (OXA-48 – 40.75%, NDM – 30.28%, KPC – 8.74%, OXA-48 + NDM – 10.62%, OXA-48 + KPC – 2.98%, NDM + KPC – 0.45%, OXA-48 + NDM + KPC – 0.20%). More than 70% of nosocomial isolates of K. pneumoniae belonged to only 7 major genetic lineages known as “high-risk international clones”: CC395 – 37.40%, CC23 – 9.59%, CC307 – 8.64%, CC147 – 7.61%, CC15 – 2.95%, CC258 – 2.92%, and CC11 – 2.41%. The population of community-acquired K. pneumoniae was characterized by significantly greater genetic diversity (Simpson diversity index: D = 0.919; 95% CI: 0.904 to 0.933) compared with the population of nosocomial strains (Simpson diversity index: D = 0.815; 95% CI: 0.802 to 0.827). Strains of the “hypervirulent” genetic lineage of K. pneumoniae CC23 were more common in community-acquired infections. Conclusions. The extremely high frequency of resistance to cephalosporins in K. pneumoniae (> 80%) and E. coli (> 60%), as well as the high frequency of combined resistance to aminoglycosides and fluoroquinolones precludes their empirical use for the treatment of serious nosocomial infections caused by these pathogens. K. pneumoniae shows a rapid increase in resistance to carbapenems, mainly due to the spread of carbapenemases of three major groups: OXA-48, NDM and KPC. The overall increase in the frequency of carbapenemase production is accompanied by the growing diversity of carbapenemases, the increasing prevalence of strains producing NDM and KPC enzymes and those co-producing multiple carbapenemases simultaneously. In community-acquired infections, the high prevalence of resistance to cephalosporins in E. coli (> 30%) and K. pneumoniae (> 50%) remains the most important problem.

3. Anthropometric analysis of wooden architectural heritage based on a historical system of measures

Abstract: The paper examines the historical Russian system of measures and its significance for the study of monuments of Russian wooden architecture. The basis of the research is the work of Russian scientists on metrology in construction, as well as research in the field of anthropometry. Continuing the idea of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man,” this study formulates the hypothesis of a person’s “personal space” in Russian folk architecture. A conclusion is drawn about the modular structure of “spheres of comfort”, which are based on values associated with human growth. “Spheres of Comfort” are used to analyze the plan and facade structures of an archaic peasant building in the Sverdlovsk region. The arrangement of the spheres demonstrates a logical, “organic” composition of the modules. At the same time, numerical analysis of the plan and facade in vershok units is used. Analysis of numerical chains shows that the basis of a series of increasing quantities is the ratio of the diagonal of the square to its side (i.e. √2). The conclusion states the general and specific features of Russian house construction inherent in each specific building. The question is raised about the need for further statistical research and the compilation of regional tables based on anthropometry.

4. Analysis of the hydrological regime of the Gulf of Ob in the freezing period using SMOS data

Abstract: The Gulf of Ob is a unique ecosystem characterized by a complex interaction of river and sea factors. It is exposed to extremely strong seasonal pressure of highly variable temperature, insolation, biogenic load and many other factors, including anthropogenic and technogenic effects. Operational satellite data on the hydrological regime of the Gulf of Ob are crucial for the analysis of different environmental and climate processes as well as assessment of the intensity and scale of anthropogenic and technogenic impacts on the adjacent areas. This study presents an analysis of seasonal and interannual variations of brightness temperature in different parts of the Gulf of Ob in the freezing period based on SMOS (Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity) data. It was found that in the southern part of the Gulf of Ob, the seasonal and interannual brightness temperature dynamics are similar to freshwater lakes. However, the closer to the Kara Sea the more these dynamics deteriorate and, finally, in the northern part of the Gulf, become similar to those of the central Kara Sea. During the freezing period, changes in the brightness temperature dynamics occur in different parts of the Gulf of Ob. This is explained by an increase in the salinity of water under ice. It was shown that during winter seasons, the zone of fresh and salt waters mixing (the transition zone) can shift far to the south of the Gulf of Ob. Winter shift of the transition zone was compared with climate changes in the region that determine the river runoff and the state of permafrost. The revealed patterns of brightness temperature seasonal variations in different parts of the Gulf of Ob and the associated ice cover phases can be used to assess the hydrological regime in large estuaries of the Arctic in winter, as well as climate changes in the adjacent areas on the basis of satellite microwave radiometry data.

5. The effect of agronomic practices and terroir on the phenolic complex of autochthonous grape variety ‘Kefesiya’

Abstract: This study aimed to assess the cropping capacity, quality indicators, and phenolic compounds in various tissues of the ‘Kefesiya’ grape variety, influenced by cultivation terroir and agricultural practices. Results indicate that bush training methods, trunk height, and green operations significantly affect cropping capacity, quality, and phenolic content. A multi-armed fan training on a medium trunk in the Sudak terroir yielded 1.8 times higher cropping capacity compared to a one-sided Guyot on a high trunk in Alminskiy. Combining topping with defoliation increased sugar content by 15% and reduced titratable acids by 24% in Sudak, while in Alminskiy, sugar content rose by 5% and acids decreased by 9%. However, this combination also led to a decrease in phenolic compounds across both terroirs. Topping and defoliation positively correlated with phenolic compounds, especially catechins. The study highlights that grape quality and phenolic accumulation are influenced not only by soil and climate but also by specific agricultural practices tailored to crown management.

6. Changes in the carbohydrate-acid and phenolic complexes of grapes in the dynamics of ripening

Abstract: The primary challenge in red wine production is optimizing conditions for the accumulation of phenolic compounds in grape berries, crucial for the wine’s aroma, color, and flavor. With climate change impacting these components, it’s vital to study the transformation of carbohydrate-acid and phenolic complexes as grapes reach ripeness. This study focuses on the ‘Bastardo Magarachskiy’ grape variety and the effects of foliar mineral fertilization (NTP-Sintez LLC, Belarus) during ripening. Our findings show that experimental processing schemes enhance sugar accumulation in the berries by 1-4 g/100 cm3. The total anthocyanin potential ranged from 1187 to 1684 mg/dm3, with maximum extraction efficiency (61-65%) occurring at sugar concentrations of 21-23 g/100 cm3. Higher sugar levels led to reduced extraction efficiency. The phenolic profile was dominated by flavan-3-ols and anthocyanins, comprising 82.7% to 96.3% of total phenolics. Throughout ripening, there was a significant increase in the mass concentration of primary phenolic compounds in the berries, highlighting the importance of monitoring these changes for optimal wine production.

Abstract: Nowadays, the formation of intelligent transportation systems is taking place, allowing to increase the efficiency of transportation through the use of innovative technologies. Methods and means of simulation modeling have gained considerable popularity among them, allowing to increase the accuracy of forecasting and efficiency of management decisionmaking. The purpose of this article is to develop the directions of application of simulation modeling in the field of passenger transport infrastructure management. The article presents the results of applied research using simulation modeling tools of passenger transport infrastructure objects. Based on these results, the effects of using simulation modeling methods in the management of passenger transport system are systematized. In order to achieve the research goal, a review of scientific works was conducted, the areas of application of simulation modeling in the management of passenger transport infrastructure were specified, the effects of using simulation modeling methods and tools were analyzed and generalized. The results of the research can be useful to transport organizations, state regulation bodies on transport and organizers of transportation. They can be used in the construction of scenarios for the development of transport infrastructure objects to improve the quality of service to the population and to ensure the effectiveness of management decisions on transport.

Abstract: Objective. To determine spectrum and prevalence of genetic determinants of resistance to macrolides in Mycoplasma genitalium in a Russian patient population. Materials and Methods. A total of 873 M. genitalium-positive samples from five geographical regions of Russia were investigated over the period of 2009–2019 using the previously developed protocol of real-time polymerase chain reaction (allows detecting any nucleotide substitutions in the 23S rRNA gene of M. genitalium at positions 2058, 2059, and 2611). The results were confirmed using Sanger sequencing. Results. The most frequent mutations associated with resistance to macrolides in M. genitalium were the following: A2058G (60.5%) and A2059G (30.2%). The relatively rare mutations were A2058T (7%) and C2611T (2.3%). In the studied period, there was no trend to increase in frequency of mutations associated with resistance to macrolides. The study results are presented as an open project on the AMRcloud platform (https://amrcloud.net/ru/project/demares/). Conclusions. Our data emphasize a need to introduce regular screening of M. genitalium-positive samples for the presence of macrolide resistance-associated mutations into clinical practice.

9. Sparse PCA: Phase Transitions in the Critical Sparsity Regime

Abstract: This work studies estimation of sparse principal components in high dimensions. Specifically, we consider a class of estimators based on kernel PCA, generalizing the covariance thresholding algorithm proposed by Krauthgamer et al. (2015). Focusing on Johnstone's spiked covariance model, we investigate the "critical" sparsity regime, where the sparsity level $m$, sample size $n$, and dimension $p$ each diverge and $m/\sqrt{n} \rightarrow \beta$, $p/n \rightarrow \gamma$. Within this framework, we develop a fine-grained understanding of signal detection and recovery. Our results establish a detectability phase transition, analogous to the Baik--Ben Arous--P\'ech\'e (BBP) transition: above a certain threshold -- depending on the kernel function, $\gamma$, and $\beta$ -- kernel PCA is informative. Conversely, below the threshold, kernel principal components are asymptotically orthogonal to the signal. Notably, above this detection threshold, we find that consistent support recovery is possible with high probability. Sparsity plays a key role in our analysis, and results in more nuanced phenomena than in related studies of kernel PCA with delocalized (dense) components. Finally, we identify optimal kernel functions for detection -- and consequently, support recovery -- and numerical calculations suggest that soft thresholding is nearly optimal.

Abstract: A method is proposed for the formation of femto- and subfemtosecond pulses of the deep ultraviolet and vacuum ultraviolet radiation via generating the third harmonic of femtosecond laser pulses during their resonant interaction with alkali atoms or alkaline earth ions. The pulse formation occurs due to two-photon Rabi oscillations between quasi-equidistant energy levels of atoms or ions. Abstract: KM3NeT/ORCA is an underwater neutrino telescope under construction in the Mediterranean Sea. Its primary scientific goal is to measure the atmospheric neutrino oscillation parameters and to determine the neutrino mass ordering. ORCA can constrain the oscillation parameters $\Delta m^{2}_{31}$ and $\theta_{23}$ by reconstructing the arrival direction and energy of multi-GeV neutrinos crossing the Earth. Searches for deviations from the Standard Model of particle physics in the forward scattering of neutrinos inside Earth matter, produced by Non-Standard Interactions, can be conducted by investigating distortions of the standard oscillation pattern of neutrinos of all flavours. This work reports on the results of the search for non-standard neutrino interactions using the first six detection units of ORCA and 433 kton-years of exposure. No significant deviation from standard interactions was found in a sample of 5828 events reconstructed in the 1 GeV$-$1 TeV energy range. The flavour structure of the non-standard coupling was constrained at 90\% confidence level to be $|\varepsilon_{\mu\tau} | \leq 5.4 \times 10^{-3}$, $|\varepsilon_{e\tau} | \leq 7.4 \times 10^{-2}$, $|\varepsilon_{e\mu} | \leq 5.6 \times 10^{-2}$ and $-0.015 \leq \varepsilon_{\tau\tau} - \varepsilon_{\mu\mu} \leq 0.017$. The results are comparable to the current most stringent limits placed on the parameters by other experiments.

Abstract: Indirect dark matter detection methods are used to observe the products of dark matter annihilations or decays originating from astrophysical objects where large amounts of dark matter are thought to accumulate. With neutrino telescopes, an excess of neutrinos is searched for in nearby dark matter reservoirs, such as the Sun and the Galactic Centre, which could potentially produce a sizeable flux of Standard Model particles. The KM3NeT infrastructure, currently under construction, comprises the ARCA and ORCA undersea \v{C}erenkov neutrino detectors located at two different sites in the Mediterranean Sea, offshore of Italy and France, respectively. The two detector configurations are optimised for the detection of neutrinos of different energies, enabling the search for dark matter particles with masses ranging from a few GeV/c$^2$ to hundreds of TeV/c$^2$. In this work, searches for dark matter annihilations in the Galactic Centre and the Sun with data samples taken with the first configurations of both detectors are presented. No significant excess over the expected background was found in either of the two analyses. Limits on the velocity-averaged self-annihilation cross section of dark matter particles are computed for five different primary annihilation channels in the Galactic Centre. For the Sun, limits on the spin-dependent and spin-independent scattering cross sections of dark matter with nucleons are given for three annihilation channels.

Abstract: The building traditions of China go back to the deep past. Wood as a building material helped to withstand many natural disasters, and also provided a high speed of construction. The valleys of the Huang He and Yangtze rivers, where Chinese civilization originated, are rich in vegetation. First of all, it is bamboo, which was widely used for the construction of ancient residential buildings. With the development of building technologies, wood, like bamboo, has become the most common material for building not only residential buildings, but also temples. The basis of Chinese structures is dominated by the frame system, since it is the most resistant to earthquakes and floods. Geographic location also played a role in shaping the structure of the residential building. All constructive solutions of Chinese architecture were preserved by builders for several thousand years. The question arises: are there any modern trends in traditional construction?

Abstract: Objective. To assess the in vitro activity of ceftazidime-avibactam against clinical Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates in various regions of Russia based on results of local susceptibility testing by disk diffusion method. Materials and Methods. Overall, 160 laboratories located in 61 Russian cities participated in this surveillance during 2018-2020. All consecutive clinical isolates of Enterobacterales and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in each participating laboratory were included in the study. Ceftazidime-avibactam susceptibility testing was done by disc-diffusion method in accordance with current EUCAST recommendations. Susceptibility data for carbapenems and III-IV generation cephalosporins, as well as results of carbapenemases detection, were also reported, if available. All the data were recorded in electronic case report form developed on the OpenClinica online platform (www.openclinica.com). Data analysis and reporting were done using AMRcloud online platform (https://amrcloud.net/). Results. In total, we received information on antimicrobial susceptibility of 22,121 isolates, including 17,456 (78.9%) Enterobacterales and 4,665 (21.1%) P. aeruginosa. Less than 9% of Enterobacterales isolates were resistant to ceftazidime-avibactam. At the same time rates of resistance to ceftazidime, cefotaxime, cefepime, ertapenem, imipenem, and meropenem were 54.1%, 58.9%, 59.4%, 41.4%, 23.9%, and 21.3%. Among Enterobacterales the highest level of resistance to ceftazidime-avibactam was detected in K. pneumoniae (16.5%), lowest – in E. coli (2.1%). Some increase of resistance to ceftazidimeavibactam was noted during the study – from 7.8% in 2018-2019 to 9.6% in 2020 (p = 0.0001). Rate of resistance to ceftazidime-avibactam in P. aeruginosa was 33.1%. At the same time rates of resistance to ceftazidime, cefepime, imipenem, and meropenem were 51.1%, 54.5%, 50%, and 47.3%. During the study there was statistically significant decrease in resistance to ceftazidime-avibactam in P. aeruginosa (p = 0.0001). Resistance rates for all beta-lactams for both Enterobacterales and P. aeruginosa were higher in nosocomial isolates than in community-acquired isolates. Conclusions. Ceftazidime-avibactam demonstrated significantly higher in vitro activity against Enterobacterales and P. aeruginosa Russian clinical isolates comparing with commonly used carbapenems and extended spectrum cephalosporins. Abstract: In November 2019 the joint group of researcers from the Department of State Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Institution of History, Language and Literature of Ufa Federal Research Center of Russian Academy of Science has conducted archaeological exploration with the aim to find new monuments of the Middle Ages in the Kushnarenkovsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan. As a result of this exploration Taganaevo 5 settlement was discovered. Collection of materials found in the course of the test pits drilling consist of animal bones, fragments of pottery and handbuilt ceramics, clay coatening, hand forged nails, a fragment of the iron knife and a lithic core. Taganaevo 5 presents itself a multilayer site. The upper strata of its’ cultural layer refer to the ethnographic time dating back to the 19th century, middle strata contain ceramics of Bahmutino and Kushnarenkovo cultures (V-VII ) and at the lower strata have ceramics of the Srubnaya archaeological culture related to the era of the late Bronze Age and the Eneolithic (Agidel culture). Exploraion works which are aimed at finding new archaeologial sites in the forest-steppe zone of the Cis-Urals as well as the cultural and chronological attribution of these sites contribute greatly to the accomulation of a source base for an archaeological map showing resettlement of the representatives of the Agidel ceramics culture and representatives of the Srubnaya, Kushnarenkovo and Bahmutino ceramics types. As well as the location and spread of the settlements (historical sites, villages and auls) during the Modern Age.

Abstract: The KM3NeT Collaboration has tackled a common challenge faced by the astroparticle physics community, namely adapting the experiment-specific simulation software to work with the CORSIKA air shower simulation output. The proposed solution is an extension of the open-source code gSeaGen, allowing for the transport of muons generated by CORSIKA to a detector of any size at an arbitrary depth. The gSeaGen code was not only extended in terms of functionalities but also underwent a thorough redesign of the muon propagation routine, resulting in a more accurate and efficient simulation. Abstract: Blazars are beamed active galactic nuclei known for their strong multi-wavelength variability on timescales from years down to minutes. We aim to investigate the suitability of the twisting jet model presented in previous works to explain the multi-wavelength behaviour of BL Lacertae, the prototype of one of the blazar classes. According to this model, the jet is inhomogeneous, curved, and twisting, and the long-term variability is due to changes in the Doppler factor due to variations in the orientation of the jet-emitting regions. We analysed optical data of the source obtained during monitoring campaigns organised by the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope (WEBT) in 2019-2022, together with radio data from the WEBT and other teams, and gamma-ray data from the Fermi satellite. In this period, BL Lacertae underwent an extraordinary activity phase, reaching its historical optical and gamma-ray brightness maxima. The application of the twisting jet model to the source light curves allows us to infer the wiggling motion of the optical, radio, and gamma-ray jet-emitting regions. The optical-radio correlation shows that the changes in the radio viewing angle follow those in the optical viewing angle by about 120 days, and it suggests that the jet is composed of plasma filaments, which is in agreement with some radio high-resolution observations of other sources. The gamma-ray emitting region is found to be co-spatial with the optical one, and the analysis of the gamma-optical correlation is consistent with both the geometric interpretation and a synchrotron self-Compton (SSC) origin of the high-energy photons. We propose a geometric scenario where the jet is made up of a pair of emitting plasma filaments in a sort of double-helix curved rotating structure, whose wiggling motion produces changes in the Doppler beaming and can thus explain the observed multi-wavelength long-term variability., Comment: In press for A&A

18. Observation of Temperature-Dependent Capture Cross-Section for Main Deep-Levels in $\beta$-Ga2O3

Abstract: Direct observation of capture cross-section is challenging due to the need of extremely short filling pulses in the two-gate Deep-Level Transient Spectroscopy (DLTS). Simple estimation of cross-section can be done from DLTS and Admittance Spectroscopy (AS) data, but it is not feasible to distinguish temperature dependence of pre-exponential and exponential parts of the emission rate equation with sufficient precision conducting a single experiment. This paper presents experimental data of deep-levels in $\beta$-Ga2O3 that has been gathered by our group since 2017. Based on the gathered data we propose a derivation of apparent activation energy ($E_a^m$) and capture cross-section ($\sigma_n^m$) assuming temperature dependent capture via multiphonon emission model, which resulted in strong correlation between $E_a^m$ and $\sigma_n^m$ according to Meyer-Neldel rule, which allowed us to estimate low- and high-temperature capture coefficients $C_0$ and $C_1$ as well as capture barrier $E_b$. It also has been shown that without considering the temperature dependence of capture cross-section, the experimental values of $\sigma_n$ are overestimated by 1-3 orders of magnitude. A careful consideration of the data also allows to be more certain identifying deep-levels by their "fingerprints" ($E_a$ and $\sigma_n$) considering two additional parameters ($E_{MN}$ and $\sigma_{00}$) and to verify the density functional theory (DFT) computation of deep-level recombination properties.

Abstract: Neutrinos described as an open quantum system may interact with the environment which introduces stochastic perturbations to their quantum phase. This mechanism leads to a loss of coherence along the propagation of the neutrino $-$ a phenomenon commonly referred to as decoherence $-$ and ultimately, to a modification of the oscillation probabilities. Fluctuations in space-time, as envisaged by various theories of quantum gravity, are a potential candidate for a decoherence-inducing environment. Consequently, the search for decoherence provides a rare opportunity to investigate quantum gravitational effects which are usually beyond the reach of current experiments. In this work, quantum decoherence effects are searched for in neutrino data collected by the KM3NeT/ORCA detector from January 2020 to November 2021. The analysis focuses on atmospheric neutrinos within the energy range of a few GeV to $100\,\mathrm{GeV}$. Adopting the open quantum system framework, decoherence is described in a phenomenological manner with the strength of the effect given by the parameters $\Gamma_{21}$ and $\Gamma_{31}$. Following previous studies, a dependence of the type $\Gamma_{ij} \propto (E/E_0)^n$ on the neutrino energy is assumed and the cases $n = -2,-1$ are explored. No significant deviation with respect to the standard oscillation hypothesis is observed. Therefore, $90\,\%$ CL upper limits are estimated as $\Gamma_{21} < 4.6\cdot 10^{-21}\,$GeV and $\Gamma_{31} < 8.4\cdot 10^{-21}\,$GeV for $n = -2$, and $\Gamma_{21} < 1.9\cdot 10^{-22}\,$GeV and $\Gamma_{31} < 2.7\cdot 10^{-22}\,$GeV for $n = -1$, respectively., Comment: 17 pages, 5 figures

20. Newton Meets Marchenko-Pastur: Massively Parallel Second-Order Optimization with Hessian Sketching and Debiasing

Abstract: Motivated by recent advances in serverless cloud computing, in particular the "function as a service" (FaaS) model, we consider the problem of minimizing a convex function in a massively parallel fashion, where communication between workers is limited. Focusing on the case of a twice-differentiable objective subject to an L2 penalty, we propose a scheme where the central node (server) effectively runs a Newton method, offloading its high per-iteration cost -- stemming from the need to invert the Hessian -- to the workers. In our solution, workers produce independently coarse but low-bias estimates of the inverse Hessian, using an adaptive sketching scheme. The server then averages the descent directions produced by the workers, yielding a good approximation for the exact Newton step. The main component of our adaptive sketching scheme is a low-complexity procedure for selecting the sketching dimension, an issue that was left largely unaddressed in the existing literature on Hessian sketching for distributed optimization. Our solution is based on ideas from asymptotic random matrix theory, specifically the Marchenko-Pastur law. For Gaussian sketching matrices, we derive non asymptotic guarantees for our algorithm which are essentially dimension-free. Lastly, when the objective is self-concordant, we provide convergence guarantees for the approximate Newton's method with noisy Hessians, which may be of independent interest beyond the setting considered in this paper.

21. Electron Beam Characterization of REBCO-Coated Conductors at Cryogenic Conditions

Abstract: Particle accelerators with superconducting magnets operating at cryogenic temperatures use a beam screen (BS) liner that extracts heat generated by the circulating bunched charge particle beam before it can reach the magnets. The BS surface, commonly made of high-conductivity copper, provides a low impedance for beam stability reasons, low secondary electron yield (SEY)to mitigate the electron-cloud (EC) effect, and low electron-stimulated desorption yield (ESD) to limit the dynamic pressure rise due to EC. Rare-earth barium copper oxide (REBCO) high-temperature superconductors (HTs) recently reached technical maturity, are produced as coated conductor tapes (REBCO-CCs), and will be considered for application in future colliders to decrease the BS impedance and enable operation at around 50 K, consequently relaxing the cryogenic requirements. Aside from HTS properties, industry-grade REBCO-CCs also need qualification for EC and dynamic vacuum compatibility under accelerator-like conditions. Hence, we report the SEY and ESD measured at cryogenic temperatures of 12 K under low-energy electron irradiation of 0 - 1.4 keV. We also verify the sample compositions and morphologies using XPS, SEM, and EDS methods. The energy and dose dependencies of ESD are comparable to those of technical-grade metals and one sample reached SEY$_{MAX}=$1.2 after electron conditioning.

The eikonal equation is considered here in the circular cylinder, where point sources run along its axis and measurements of travel times are conductes on the whole surface of this cylinder. A new version of the globally convergent convexification numerical method for this problem is developed. Results of numerical studies are presented.

Abstract: We present a detailed study of the MASTER OT J030227.28+191754.5 outburst in 2021-2022, reaching an amplitude of 10.2 mag and a duration of 60 d. The detections of (1) the double-peaked optical emission lines, and (2) the early and ordinary superhumps, established that MASTER OT J030227.28+191754.5 is an extremely energetic WZ Sge-type dwarf nova (DN). Based on the superhump observations, we obtained its orbital period and mass ratio as 0.05986(1) d and 0.063(1), respectively. These are within a typical range of low-mass-ratio DNe. According to the binary parameters derived based on the thermal-tidal instability model, our analyses showed that (1) the standard disk model requires an accretion rate $\simeq$ 10$^{20}$ g s$^{-1}$ to explain its peak optical luminosity and (2) large mass was stored in the disk at the outburst onset. These cannot be explained solely by the impact of its massive ($\gtrsim$ 1.15 M$_\odot$) primary white dwarf implied by Kimura et al. (2023). Instead, we propose that the probable origin of this enormously energetic DN outburst is the even lower quiescence viscosity than other WZ Sge-type DNe. This discussion is qualitatively valid for most possible binary parameter spaces unless the inclination is low ($\lesssim 40^\circ$) enough for the disk to be bright explaining the outburst amplitude. Such low inclinations, however, would not allow detectable amplitude of early superhumps in the current thermal-tidal instability model. The optical spectra at outburst maximum showed the strong emission lines of Balmer, He I, and He II series whose core is narrower than $\sim 800$ km s$^{-1}$. Abstract: KM3NeT/ORCA is a water Cherenkov neutrino detector under construction and anchored at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. The detector is designed to study oscillations of atmospheric neutrinos and determine the neutrino mass ordering. This paper focuses on an initial configuration of ORCA, referred to as ORCA6, which comprises six out of the foreseen 115 detection units of photo-sensors. A high-purity neutrino sample was extracted, corresponding to an exposure of 433 kton-years. The sample of 5828 neutrino candidates is analysed following a binned log-likelihood method in the reconstructed energy and cosine of the zenith angle. The atmospheric oscillation parameters are measured to be $\sin^2\theta_{23}= 0.51^{+0.04}_{-0.05}$, and $ \Delta m^2_{31} = 2.18^{+0.25}_{-0.35}\times 10^{-3}~\mathrm{eV^2} \cup \{-2.25,-1.76\}\times 10^{-3}~\mathrm{eV^2}$ at 68\% CL. To test their bioactivity, Escherichia coli cells, cultured A549 cells, and C57Bl/6 mice were used. The antibacterial activity of AgNPs was determined by inhibition of colony-forming ability, and cytotoxicity was tested using the MTT test (viability, %). Ceruloplasmin (Cp, the major mammalian extracellular copper-containing protein) concentration and enzymatic activity were measured using gel-assay analyses and WB, respectively. In vitro binding of AgNPs with serum proteins was monitored with UV/Vis spectroscopy. Metal concentrations were measured using atomic absorption spectrometry.Results: The smallest AgNPs displayed the largest dose- and time-dependent antibacterial activity. All nanoparticles inhibited the metabolic activity of A549 cells in accordance with dose and time, but no correlation between cytotoxicity and nanoparticle size was found. Nanosilver was not uniformly distributed through the body of mice intraperitoneally treated with low AgNP concentrations. It was predominantly accumulated in liver. There, nanosilver was included in ceruloplasmin, and Ag-ceruloplasmin with low oxidase activity level was formed. Larger nanoparticles more effectively interfered with the copper metabolism of mice. Large AgNPs quickly induced a drop of blood serum oxidase activity to practically zero, but after cancellation of AgNP treatment, the activity was rapidly restored. A major fraction of the nanosilver was excreted in the bile with Cp. Nanosilver was bound by alpha-2-macroglobulin in vitro and in vivo, but silver did not substitute for the copper atoms of Cp in vitro.Conclusion: The data showed that even at low concentrations, AgNPs influence murine copper metabolism in size-dependent manner. 26. Foliar Fertilizers as A Method Of Phenolic Ripeness Control

Abstract: Due to global warming, there is a problem to correlate technical and phenolic ripeness in modern viticulture. This study is focused on the use of foliar fertilizers in order to combine the time of beginning of phenolic and technical ripeness. The studies were carried out in 2022 in the conditions of mountain-valley coastal viticulture zone of the Republic of Crimea. Foliar top dressing was carried out with the preparation ‘Agrogemo’ (LLC Pontis, Russian Federation) on wine grape varieties ‘Bastardo Magarachskiy’ and ‘Malbec’. The Glories method was used to estimate the ripeness degree of grapes. The principle of it is to determine the total and extractable anthocyanin potential of grapes. Using of foliar fertilizers made it possible to increase the yield of ‘Bastardo Magarachskiy’ variety by 15.3%, and ‘Malbec’ variety by 18.1%. It was found that the experimental treatment scheme contributed to the later beginning of technical ripeness of grapes, i.e. a low percentage of non-extractable anthocyanins from grape skin compared to the control. Base wines obtained from grapes with the use of organic-mineral fertilizer were characterized by the intense color, balanced aroma and flavor.

Abstract: This article is devoted to the implementation of a steganographic software tool for hiding infor-mation in MPEG video files. The method of least significant bits was used to hide the data, and error-correcting coding with binary cyclic codes was used to increase the stability of the embedded data. In addition to hiding data, the AES-128 cipher algorithm is applied to the initial data in the algorithm. A software tool has been developed, designed according to the described scheme, which guarantees the im-possibility of detecting and reading the transmitted data by third parties, provided that they do not have access to private data.

Abstract: Research background: Swedish economist S.B. Linder considered time as the rarest resource, for the preservation of which people are willing to pay more and more. The problem of monetized evaluation of the benefits of reducing travel time has been relevant for the transport economy since the 1960s. The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of the time resource in modern socioeconomic systems and the analysis of approaches for assessing the benefits of changing time costs. Purpose of the article: To make a retrospective analysis of the phenomenon of time in economics, to investigate the evolution of methodological approaches to the assessment of time resources, to uncover contradictions between the fundamental ideas about the distribution of time resources and methods for assessing the benefits of changes in time costs. Methods: The methods of systematic, retrospective and comparative analysis are used in the paper. Findings & Value added: The conclusions obtained in the course of the study allow us to expand and concretize the methodology of economic assessment of transport projects. There are identified and systematized factors that determine the need for differentiated accounting of changes in the value of reducing travel time for passengers, which ultimately determines the demand for transport services.

Abstract: Objective. In this study, we examined the prevalence of macrolide-resistant M. genitalium in two Russian cities, Smolensk and Tula, between 2013 and 2017. Materials and Methods. DNA’s samples were isolated from urethral and cervicovaginal swabs using primary screening and tested for macrolide resistance-associated mutations by real-time PCR. This technology makes it possible to identify any nucleotide substitutions in the 23S rRNA M. genitalium gene at positions 2058, 2059, 2611 M. genitalium by melting curve analysis after the amplification. Results. According to the study in two cities (Smolensk and Tula) macrolide resistance-associated mutations were found in 3, 65% of isolates (21/574). The A2058G transition 23S rRNA MGE was the most common mutation that is associated with macrolide resistance: 5/12 (41.6%) – Smolensk, 8/9 (88.8%) – Tula. Rare substitutions have been reported at position A2058T 23S rRNA MGE and at position C2611T23S rRNA MGE. All received data is published at the AntiMicrobial Resistance Map (AMRmap) (http://AMRmap.com). Conclusions. According to our study, the frequency of macrolide-resistance mutations in M. genitalium was not more than 4% in two cities of Central Russia during 2013–2017. Despite the relatively low rates of resistance of M. genitalium to macrolides in Smolensk and Tula, our data emphasize the need for epidemiological surveillance of resistance in this pathogen.

Abstract: Three-dimensional atomic resolution imaging using transmission electron microscopes is a unique capability that requires challenging experiments. Linear electron tomography methods are limited by the missing wedge effect, requiring a high tilt range. Multislice ptychography can achieve deep sub-{\AA}ngstrom resolution in the transverse direction, but the depth resolution is limited to 2 to 3 nanometers. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an end-to-end approach to reconstructing the electrostatic potential volume of the sample directly from the 4D-STEM datasets. End-to-end multi-slice ptychographic tomography recovers several slices at each tomography tilt angle and compensates for the missing wedge effect. The algorithm is initially tested in simulation with a Pt@$\mathrm{Al_2O_3}$ core-shell nanoparticle, where both heavy and light atoms are recovered in 3D from an unaligned 4D-STEM tilt series with a restricted tilt range of 90 degrees. We also demonstrate the algorithm experimentally, recovering a Te nanoparticle with sub-{\AA}ngstrom resolution.

31. Two proofs of a Jantzen Conjecture for Whittaker Modules

Abstract: We define a filtration of a standard Whittaker module over a complex semisimple Lie algebra and and establish its fundamental properties. Our filtration specialises to the Jantzen filtration of a Verma module for a certain choice of parameter. We prove that embeddings of standard Whittaker modules are strict with respect to our filtration, and that the filtration layers are semisimple. This provides a generalisation of the Jantzen conjectures to Whittaker modules. We prove these statements in two ways. First, we give an algebraic proof which compares Whittaker modules to Verma modules using a functor introduced by Backelin. Second, we give a geometric proof using mixed twistor $\mathcal{D}$-modules.

Abstract: The spin-exotic hybrid meson $\pi_{1}(1600)$ is predicted to have a large decay rate to the $\omega\pi\pi$ final state. Using 76.6~pb$^{-1}$ of data collected with the GlueX detector, we measure the cross sections for the reactions $\gamma p \to \omega \pi^+ \pi^- p$, $\gamma p \to \omega \pi^0 \pi^0 p$, and $\gamma p\to\omega\pi^-\pi^0\Delta^{++}$ in the range $E_\gamma =$ 8-10 GeV. Using isospin conservation, we set the first upper limits on the photoproduction cross sections of the $\pi^{0}_{1}(1600)$ and $\pi^{-}_{1}(1600)$. Abstract: High-significance evidences of the existence of a high-energy diffuse flux of cosmic neutrinos have emerged in the last decade from several observations by the IceCube Collaboration. The ANTARES neutrino telescope took data for 15 years in the Mediterranean Sea, from 2007 to 2022, and collected a high-purity all-flavour neutrino sample. The search for a diffuse cosmic neutrino signal using this dataset is presented in this article. This final analysis did not provide a statistically significant observation of the cosmic diffuse flux. However, this is converted into limits on the properties of the cosmic neutrino spectrum. In particular, given the sensitivity of the ANTARES neutrino telescope between 1 and 50 TeV, constraints on single-power-law hypotheses are derived for the cosmic diffuse flux below 20 TeV, especially for power-law fits of the IceCube data with spectral index softer than 2.8.

Abstract: Ionization profile monitors (IPMs) are widely used in accelerators for non-destructive and fast diagnostics of high energy particle beams. Two such monitors - one vertical and one horizontal - are being developed for installation in the IOTA storage ring at Fermilab. They will be used for turn-by-turn (microseconds scale) measurements of the 70 MeV/c IOTA proton beam sizes. Abstract: We measure the spin-density matrix elements (SDMEs) of the $\Delta^{++}(1232)$ in the photoproduction reaction $\gamma p \to \pi^-\Delta^{++}(1232)$ with the GlueX experiment in Hall D at Jefferson Lab. The measurement uses a linearly--polarized photon beam with energies from $8.2$ to $8.8$~GeV and the statistical precision of the SDMEs exceeds the previous measurement by three orders of magnitude for the momentum transfer squared region below $1.4$ GeV$^2$. The data are sensitive to the previously undetermined relative sign between couplings in existing Regge-exchange models. Linear combinations of the extracted SDMEs allow for a decomposition into natural and unnatural--exchange amplitudes. We find that the unnatural exchange plays an important role in the low momentum transfer region.

Abstract: We are commissioning a 2.5-MeV proton beam for the Integrable Optics Test Accelerator at Fermilab, allowing experiments in the strong space-charge regime with incoherent betatron tune shifts nearing 0.5. Accurate modelling of space-charge dynamics is vital for understanding planned experiments. We compare anticipated emittance growth and beam loss in the bare IOTA configuration using transverse space-charge models in Xsuite, PyORBIT, and MADX simulation codes. 37. The High-Dimensional Asymptotics of Principal Component Regression

Abstract: We study principal components regression (PCR) in an asymptotic high-dimensional regression setting, where the number of data points is proportional to the dimension. We derive exact limiting formulas for the estimation and prediction risks, which depend in a complicated manner on the eigenvalues of the population covariance, the alignment between the population PCs and the true signal, and the number of selected PCs. A key challenge in the high-dimensional setting stems from the fact that the sample covariance is an inconsistent estimate of its population counterpart, so that sample PCs may fail to fully capture potential latent low-dimensional structure in the data. We demonstrate this point through several case studies, including that of a spiked covariance model. To calculate the asymptotic prediction risk, we leverage tools from random matrix theory which to our knowledge have not seen much use to date in the statistics literature: multi-resolvent traces and their associated eigenvector overlap measures.

Abstract: Position calibration in the deep sea is typically done by means of acoustic multilateration using three or more acoustic emitters installed at known positions. Rather than using hydrophones as receivers that are exposed to the ambient pressure, the sound signals can be coupled to piezo ceramics glued to the inside of existing containers for electronics or measuring instruments of a deep sea infrastructure. The ANTARES neutrino telescope operated from 2006 until 2022 in the Mediterranean Sea at a depth exceeding 2000m. It comprised nearly 900 glass spheres with 432mm diameter and 15mm thickness, equipped with photomultiplier tubes to detect Cherenkov light from tracks of charged elementary particles. In an experimental setup within ANTARES, piezo sensors have been glued to the inside of such - otherwise empty - glass spheres. These sensors recorded signals from acoustic emitters with frequencies from 46545 to 60235Hz. Two waves propagating through the glass sphere are found as a result of the excitation by the waves in the water. These can be qualitatively associated with symmetric and asymmetric Lamb-like waves of zeroth order: a fast (early) one with $v_e \approx 5$mm/$\mu$s and a slow (late) one with $v_\ell \approx 2$mm/$\mu$s. Taking these findings into account improves the accuracy of the position calibration. The results can be transferred to the KM3NeT neutrino telescope, currently under construction at multiple sites in the Mediterranean Sea, for which the concept of piezo sensors glued to the inside of glass spheres has been adapted for monitoring the positions of the photomultiplier tubes., Comment: submitted to "Experimental Astronomy"

Abstract: We compute the Jantzen filtration of a D-module on the flag variety of $\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{C})$. At each step in the computation, we illustrate the $\mathfrak{sl}_2(\mathbb{C})$-module structure on global sections to give an algebraic picture of this geometric computation. We conclude by showing that the Jantzen filtration on the D-module agrees with the algebraic Jantzen filtration on its global sections, demonstrating a famous theorem of Beilinson--Bernstein., Comment: 29 pages, 8 figures
