Notoginsenoside R1 (NGR1), derived from the Panax notoginseng root and rhizome, exhibits diverse pharmacological influences on the brain, neurons, and osteoblasts, such as antioxidant effects, mitochondrial function protection, energy metabolism regulation, and inhibition of oxygen radicals, apoptosis, and cellular autophagy. However, its effect on early porcine embryonic development remains unclear. Therefore, we investigated NGR1's effects on blastocyst quality, reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, glutathione (GSH) levels, mitochondrial function, and embryonic development‐related gene expression in porcine embryos by introducing NGR1 during the in vitro culture (IVC) of early porcine embryos. Our results indicate that an addition of 1 μM NGR1 significantly increased glutathione (GSH) levels, blastocyst formation rate, and total cell number and proliferation capacity; decreased ROS levels and apoptosis rates in orphan‐activated porcine embryos; and improved intracellular mitochondrial distribution, enhanced membrane potential, and reduced autophagy. In addition, pluripotency‐related factor levels were elevated (NANOG and octamer‐binding transcription factor 4 [OCT4]), antioxidant‐related genes were upregulated (nuclear factor‐erythroid 2‐related factor 2 [NRF2]), and apoptosis‐ (caspase 3 [CAS3]) and autophagy‐related genes (light chain 3 [LC3B]) were downregulated. Simple Summary: The 2,2′4,4′-tetrabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-47) is a common flame retardant that can be widely distributed in the environment and organisms but has been shown to induce toxicity to various organisms and organ systems. We found that exposure to BDE-47 induced the early embryonic development of in vitro porcine culture through oxidative stress and autophagy induced by mitochondrial dysfunction and endoplasmic reticulum stress. Widely used as a flame retardant, 2,2′4,4′-tetrabromodiphenyl ether (BDE-47) is a persistent environmental pollutant with toxicological effects, including hepatotoxicity, neurotoxicity, reproductive toxicity, and endocrine disruption. To investigate the toxicological effects of BDE-47 on early porcine embryogenesis in vitro, cultured porcine embryos were exposed to BDE-47 during early development. Exposure to 100 μM BDE-47 decreased the blastocyst rate and mRNA level of pluripotency genes but increased the level of LC3 and the expression of autophagy-related genes. After BDE-47 exposure, porcine embryos' antioxidant capability decreased; ROS levels increased, while glutathione (GSH) levels and the expression of antioxidant-related genes decreased. In addition, BDE-47 exposure reduced mitochondrial abundance and mitochondrial membrane potential levels, downregulated mitochondrial biogenesis-associated genes, decreased endoplasmic reticulum (ER) abundance, increased the levels of GRP78, a marker of ER stress (ERS), and upregulated the expression of ERS-related genes. However, ER damage and low embryo quality induced by BDE-47 exposure were reversed with the ERS inhibitor, the 4-phenylbutyric acid. In conclusion, BDE-47 inhibits the development of early porcine embryos in vitro by inducing mitochondrial dysfunction and ERS. Films with excellent flexibility and mechanical stability are important for flexible and wearable devices. However, most films reported are prepared on substrates, and the synthesis of freestanding flexible films remains a challenge. Herein, a freestanding Bi2S3 nanofibrous membrane (NFM) is successfully prepared via a one‐step hydrothermal method, which is self‐assembled from ultralong Bi2S3 nanowires (NWs) over a length of millimeter‐scale crisscrossing each other. Significantly, the Bi2S3 NFM can be bent or clipped into an arbitrarily desired form. Based on the freestanding Bi2S3 NFM, an IR photodetector is fabricated, depicting a robust responsivity of 2.23 (2.06) µA W−1 under 850 (940) nm illumination. The Bi2S3 NFM photodetector exhibits a relatively fast response time (47.1 ms), which is attributed to high‐speed carrier transport efficiency in the NWs network. Under the bending states, the device still exhibits excellent detection performance, maintaining more than 86% of the initial photocurrent even after 1000 bending‐flattening times. The robust photoresponse of the Bi2S3 NFM photodetector after 2 months of storage in air and after 1 week in the bending state illustrates its excellent air stability and flexible detection ability. Rape-rice rotation uses large amounts of phosphate fertilizers with low utilization rates and large amounts of straw. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a suitable phosphorus fertilizer application mode for straw-returning in a rape-rice rotation system. The treatments were: P application with straw return (T2) and without straw return (T1), no P application in either rapeseed season (P1), application of 120 kg·ha−1 P2O5 on rapeseed and 90 kg·ha−1 P2O5 on rice (P2), application of 120 kg·ha−1 P2O5 only on rapeseed (P3), and application of 90 kg·ha−1 P2O5 only on rice (P4). The results showed that the maximum rapeseed grain yields of T2P3 were increased by 15.57% and 21.05% in 2019 and 18.02% and 32.69% in 2020 compared with those of T2P2 and T2P4, respectively. In the rice season, the maximum yields of T2P3 increased by 17.31% and 6.67% in 2019 and 16.42% and 5.23% in 2020 compared to those of T2P2 and T2P4, respectively. Meanwhile, soil bacterial diversity reached its highest under the T2P3 and T2P2 treatments, but the difference was not statistically significant. Straw return combined with phosphorus application of 120 kg·ha−1 during rape season increased crop productivity and diversity of the soil bacterial community structure during rape-rice rotation. Oroxin A (OA) is a flavonoid isolated from Oroxylum indicum (L.) Kurz that has various biological activities, including antioxidant activities. This study aimed to examine the viability of using OA in an in vitro culture (IVC) medium for its antioxidant effects and related molecular mechanisms on porcine blastocyst development. In this study, we investigated the effects of OA on early porcine embryo development via terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick‐end labeling, 5‐ethynyl‐2′‐deoxyuridine labeling, quantitative reverse transcription PCR, and immunocytochemistry. Embryos cultured in the IVC medium supplemented with 2.5 μM of OA had an increased blastocyst formation rate, total cell number, and proliferation capacity, along with a low apoptosis rate. OA supplementation decreased reactive oxygen species levels while increasing glutathione levels. OA‐treated embryos exhibited an improved intracellular mitochondrial membrane potential and reduced autophagy. Moreover, levels of pluripotency‐ and antioxidant‐related genes were upregulated, whereas those of apoptosis‐ and autophagy‐related genes were downregulated by OA addition. Oligodendroglioma is a rare primary malignant brain tumor that has highly variable clinical outcomes. The aim of this study was to investigate demographics, outcomes, and prognostic factors of all oligodendroglioma cases from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database to build a clinical prognosis model to predict survival time of patients with oligodendroglioma. Cases diagnosed between 1975 and 2016 were selected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. Age, sex, race, insurance, year of diagnosis, marital status, tumor location, tumor size, summary stage, surgery method, and use of radiotherapy and chemotherapy were evaluated with respect to overall survival by univariate and multivariate analysis. A nomogram predicting 5- and 10-year survival probability for oligodendroglioma was constructed and validated. After data cleaning, 4568 patients with oligodendroglioma were included. At the time of last follow-up, mean survival times among grade II and grade III oligodendrogliomas were 74 and 39 months, respectively. In multivariate analysis, radiotherapy, age, tumor site, summary stage, and surgery demonstrated independent associations with survival in both cohorts. Race and radiotherapy demonstrated independent associations with survival in grade II oligodendroglioma. Sex and chemotherapy demonstrated independent associations with survival in grade III oligodendroglioma. Independent factors in either cohort were selected to build a clinical nomogram. The C-index for the nomogram was 0.738 (95% confidence interval 0.718–0.757). The calibration curves of 5- and 10-year survival rates showed good agreement between the nomogram predictions and actual observations. This study was the first to develop a nomogram for predicting overall survival of patients with oligodendroglioma to help clinicians predict patient prognosis accurately and conduct further treatment. Atopic dermatitis is usually associated with various ocular complications. We report a 21-year-old Chinese male who presented to our ophthalmology clinic with bilateral retinal detachment and cataracts. The patient had a clear medical history of atopic dermatitis, which had been diagnosed eight years earlier and had been treated with loratadine and pimecrolimus. Cataract surgery was performed for both eyes, combined with scleral buckling for the right eye and pars plana vitrectomy for the left eye. During postoperative follow-up, fundus fluorescein angiography showed retinal vasculitis in both eyes and macular edema in the left eye, which coincided with an exacerbation of atopic dermatitis. Simple Summary: The in vitro maturation of oocytes is important for animal husbandry and assisted reproductive technology, but due to the higher oxidative stress in the in vitro environment compared with the in vivo environment, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of this process by alleviating in vitro oxidative stress. Eupatilin is a flavonoid compound with various activities, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-tumoral activities. It is currently unclear whether it can reduce oxidative stress and improve the efficiency of the in vitro maturation of oocytes. The results of this study indicate that adding eupatilin to the in vitro maturation medium can alleviate oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and DNA damage in oocytes, further stimulating the maturation rate and embryo rate of porcine oocytes. It is expected to improve in vitro maturation efficiency and improve the composition of the medium. Eupatilin (5,7-dihydroxy-3′,4′,6-trimethoxyflavone) is a flavonoid derived from Artemisia plants that has beneficial biological activities, such as anti-apoptotic, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities. However, the protective effects of eupatilin against oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress in porcine oocyte maturation are still unclear. To investigate the effect of eupatilin on the development of porcine oocytes after in vitro maturation and parthenogenetic activation, we added different concentrations of eupatilin in the process of porcine oocyte maturation in vitro, and finally selected the optimal concentration following multiple comparisons and analysis of test results using SPSS (version 17.0; IBM, Chicago, IL, USA) software. The results showed that 0.1 μM eupatilin supplementation did not affect the expansion of porcine cumulus cells, but significantly increased the extrusion rate of porcine oocyte polar bodies, the subsequent blastocyst formation rate, and the quality of parthenogenetically activated porcine embryos. Additionally, it reduced the level of reactive oxygen species in cells and increased glutathione production. Further analysis revealed that eupatilin supplementation could reduce apoptosis, DNA double-strand breaks, and endoplasmic reticulum stress. In conclusion, supplementation with 0.1 μM eupatilin during in vitro maturation improved oocyte maturation and subsequent embryo development by reducing oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress. • We incorporate sentiment analysis and user reliability into recommendation. • The user reliability adjusts the weights of rating and sentiment information. • Our algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art algorithms on eight Amazon datasets. Recommender systems aim at predicting users' preferences based on abundant information, such as user ratings, demographics, and reviews. Although reviews are sparser than ratings, they provide more detailed and reliable information about users' true preferences. Currently, reviews are often used to improve the explainability of recommender systems. In this paper, we propose the sentiment based matrix factorization with reliability (SBMF+R) algorithm to leverage reviews for prediction. First, we develop a sentiment analysis approach using a new star-based dictionary construction technique to obtain the sentiment score. Second, we design a user reliability measure that combines user consistency and the feedback on reviews. Third, we incorporate the ratings, reviews, and feedback into a probabilistic matrix factorization framework for prediction. Two novel and eco-friendly redox mediators (RMs), magnetic oxidative vanillin (MOV) and magnetic oxidative syringaldehyde (MOS), both derived from lignin, were prepared to improve the decolorization of the methyl orange (MO) dye. The Decolorization Efficiency (DE) of MO in the batch experiments with MOV and MOS were increased by more than 60% and 22%, respectively, when compared to the control experiment without magnetic RMs. Moreover, the two magnetic RMs could maintain stable DE of MO in sequenced batch reactors (SBRs), and negligible leaching of the oxidized lignin monomers was observed under various environmental conditions. Does the addition of an antioxidant agent, xanthoangelol (XAG), to the culture medium improve in-vitro development of porcine embryos? Early porcine embryos were incubated in the presence of 0.5 μmol/l XAG in in-vitro culture (IVC) media and analysed using various techniques, including immunofluorescence staining, reactive oxygen species (ROS) detection, TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labelling (TUNEL), and reverse transcription followed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). The addition of 0.5 μmol/l XAG to IVC media increased the rate of blastocyst formation, total cell number, glutathione concentrations and proliferative capacity, while reducing reactive oxygen species concentrations, apoptosis and autophagy. In addition, upon XAG treatment, the abundance of mitochondria and mitochondrial membrane potential significantly increased (both P < 0.001), and the genes related to mitochondrial biogenesis (TFAM, NRF1 and NRF2) were significantly up-regulated (all P < 0.001). XAG treatment also significantly increased the endoplasmic reticulum abundance (P < 0.001) and reduced the concentrations of endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) marker GRP78 (P = 0.003) and expression of the ERS-related genes EIF2α, GRP78, CHOP, ATF6, ATF4, uXBP1 and sXBP 1 (all P < 0.001). An overview is given on several methods for the growth of ZnO nanomaterials, including sputtering, sol-gel method, atomic layer deposition, all-inkjet-printing approach, electrochemical deposition, hydrothermal method. The broad applications of ZnO nanomaterials in solar cell, supercapacitors, flexible piezoelectric nanogenerators, ultraviolet photodetectors, photodiodes, porous three-dimensional (3-D) ceramics, functional surface coating, and sensors are also discussed. Objective To retrospectively analyze the outcomes and complications of patients with metastatic thoracic spinal tumors (MTTs) who underwent posterior corpectomies. Methods Ninety patients with MTTs who underwent posterior corpectomies were retrospectively analyzed. Characteristics evaluated included number of MTTs per year, location, involved vertebrae numbers, sex, histology, pre- and postoperative American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) grade, visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores, operative time, blood loss, and length of hospital stay. Results The average follow-up was 20.8 ± 27.9 months (range, 0.5–139.4 months). Of the patients, 76.67% had a single metastasis and 23.33% had multiple metastases. For histology, 16.67% were breast, 15.56% were lung, 12.22% were prostate, and 12.22% were renal cell carcinoma. Of the patients with paraplegia and paraparesis, 74% improved. One patient improved from ASIA grade A to D, 3 patients improved from grade B to C, 8 patients improved from grade C to D or E, and 25 patients improved from grade D to E. Three patients (6%) with ASIA grade A and 1 patient (2%) with ASIA grade B had no improvement. One patient with ASIA grade C and 8 patients (16%) with grade D had no improvement. After surgery, VAS pain scores decreased from 8.45 ± 1.57 to 1.211 ± 1.81. In terms of complications, 2 patients (2.22%) had deep vein thrombosis and 1 patient had pulmonary embolism (1.11%). Other complications included wound infection (4.44%), cerebrospinal fluid leak (4.44%), pleural effusion (3.33%), wound dehiscence (2.22%), cellulitis (1.11%), epidural hematoma (1.11%), and pneumothorax (1.11%). Of the patients, 2.22% had implant failure and pseudoarthrosis, with 1 patient needing revision surgery. One patient (1.11%) had tumor recurrence. Several factors such as the substrate, the temperature and reducing agents that influence the properties of graphene are also discussed. In addition, selected applications of graphene, including graphene bulbs, graphene superconductors, graphene chips, rapid heating of graphene, drug carriers, hydrogen storage materials, and graphene battery are surveyed. We report a rare case mvolving a 52-year-old female diagnosed with an atypical bronchial carcinoid tumor with metastases to the mediastinum, hilar lymph nodes, breast, and pancreas. In additional, the patient had metastases to the iris and ciliary body, resulting in progressive vision loss in her left eye. Simple Summary: The residue of chemicals can affect the maturation of livestock oocytes, thereby affecting the quality of embryos. Research has shown that imidacloprid, a systemic neonicotinoid insecticide widely used in agriculture, can damage the reproductive system of mammals, and it is unclear whether imidacloprid will affect oocyte maturation and how to reduce its toxicity. The results of this study show that imidacloprid can affect oocyte maturation, and melatonin supplementation can restore oocyte maturation by alleviating oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress, and offset the toxic effect of imidacloprid on pig oocytes, which indicates that Melatonin may be a promising drug to improve the quality of oocytes exposed to imidacloprid in animals. Melatonin (MT) is an antioxidant hormone produced by the pineal gland of the brain. Studies have shown that it has a variety of physiological functions and plays a crucial role in the development of animal germ cells and embryos. The potential protective effects of MT against oocyte damage caused by neonicotinoid pesticide toxicity remain unclear. In this study, we report the toxicity of IMI against, and its effects on the quality of, porcine oocytes and the protective effect of MT on IMI-exposed oocytes. The results show that IMI exposure adversely affected oocyte maturation, while MT supplementation ameliorated its toxic effects. Specifically, IMI exposure increased oxidative stress (OS), endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), and apoptosis, which may affect polar body expulsion rates and blastocyst formation. Also, IMI exposure reduced oocyte cleavage rates and the number of cells in blastocysts. However, all of these toxic effects can be restored after a melatonin supplementation treatment. The nonlinear incidence rate can explain the complicated infectious process of disease. And time delay describing the latent period widely exists in the process of disease contagion. In this paper, a spatiotemporal epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate is investigated. In particular, we considered that the time delay is relatively small. In this case, the characteristic equation are derived, we obtain two mechanisms of instability of the positive constant stationary state, that is, One is the diffusion induced instability, and the other one is delay induced instability. Cortex Eucommiae is used worldwide in traditional medicine, various constituents of Cortex Eucommiae, such as chlorogenic acid (CGA), has been reported to exert anti-osteoporosis activity in China, but the mechanism about their contribution to the overall activity is limited. The aims of this study were to determine whether chlorogenic acid can prevent estrogen deficiency-induced osteoporosis and to analyze the mechanism of CGA bioactivity. The effect of CGA on estrogen deficiency-induced osteoporosis was performed in vivo. Sixty female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly among a sham-operated group and five ovariectomy (OVX) plus treatment subgroups: saline vehicle, 17α-ethinylestradiol (E2), or CGA at 9, 27, or 45 mg/kg/d. The rats’ femoral metaphyses were evaluated by micro-computed tomography (μCT). The mechanism of CGA bioactivity was investigated in vitro. Bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were treated with CGA, with or without phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitor LY294002. BMSCs proliferation and osteoblast differentiation were assessed with 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) and alkaline phosphatase, with or without Shp2 interfering RNA (RNAi). The results display that CGA at 27 and 45 mg/kg/day inhibited the decrease of bone mineral density (BMD) that induced by OVX in femur (p< 0.01), significantly promoted the levels of bone turnover markers, and prevented bone volume fraction (BV/TV), connectivity density (CoonD), trabecular number (Tb.N), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th) (all p< 0.01) to decrease and prevented the trabecular separation (Tb.Sp), structure model index (SMI)(both p< 0.01) to increase. CGA at 1 or 10 μM enhanced BMSC proliferation in a dose-dependent manner. CGA at 0.1 to 10 μM increased phosphorylated Akt (p-Akt) and cyclin D1. These effects were reversed by LY294002. CGA at 1 or 10 μM increased BMSC differentiation to osteoblasts (p< 0.01), Shp2 RNAi suppressed CGA-induced osteoblast differentiation by decreasing Shp2, p-Akt, and cyclin D1. This study found that CGA improved the BMD and trabecular micro-architecture for the OVX-induced osteoporosis. Therefore, CGA might be an effective alternative treatment for postmenopausal osteoporosis. Background & Aims The discontinuation rules of transarterial chemoembolization ( TACE) for patients who were assessed as progressive disease ( PD) but stage progression-free ( SP-free: still belongs to Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer B) after TACE are unclear. We aimed to evaluate the impact of the PD-pattern on the survival of these patients retreated with TACE. Methods In total, 115 consecutive patients who were assessed as PD but SP-free after TACE and then underwent at least one subsequent TACE session were included. Sixty patients were assessed as PD with target lesion progression ( TP), and 55 patients were assessed as PD with target lesion non-progression ( TNP). Survival and treatment-related adverse events were compared between the two groups. Additional external validation was performed using a data set ( n = 103) from another institution. Results Patients with TNP had significantly longer median post-progression survival ( PPS) than those with TP (21.0 vs. 11.9 months, P = 0.004). After TACE retreatment, the incidence of liver dysfunction was significantly higher for patients with TP than for patients with TNP (45% vs. 20%, P = 0.031). In the multivariate analysis, the target lesion response was one of the most significant prognostic factors for PPS ( HR = 2.01; 95% confidence interval: 1.23-3.27; P = 0.005). The findings were supported by an independent external cohort. Conclusions Compared to patients with TNP, patients with TP might exhibit no improvement in survival and even present damaged liver function after retreatment with TACE. Currently, bismuth oxychalcogenide family (Bi 2 O 2 X, X S, Se, Te), led by Bi 2 O 2 Se with unique characteristics, have emerged as promising candidates for high-performance optoelectronic devices. Herein, the novel Bi 2 O 2 S flowers with hierarchical structure have been successfully prepared via a facile hydrothermal method with only 3 h of reaction. The as-prepared Bi 2 O 2 S flower is composed of many ultrathin nanosheets (NSs) with a thickness of about 12–16 nm. And the possible formation mechanism of ultrathin NSs self-assembled Bi 2 O 2 S flowers is further analyzed. In addition, a self-powered infrared photodetector based on Bi 2 O 2 S flowers, which can work without an external power, is designed. Under illumination at 850 nm light, the Bi 2 O 2 S flowers photodetector exhibits well photoresponse switching behaviors, of which the high responsivity, specific detectivity and fast response time reach up to 9.48 mA/W, 9.96 × 1010 Jones and 227.7 ms, respectively. Image-guided local thermal ablation (LTA) plays an important role in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), especially in patients with HCC who are not suitable for hepatectomy. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and microwave ablation (MWA) are the most widely used LTA clinically. Radiofrequency ablation can achieve the best result; that is, a similar therapeutic effect as hepatectomy if the tumor ≤3 cm, while MWA can effectively ablate tumors ≤5 cm. Local thermal ablation has an advantage over liver resection in terms of minimally invasive surgery and can achieve a comparable prognosis and efficacy to liver resection. For borderline liver function, selecting LTA as the first-line therapy may bring more benefits to patients with cirrhosis background. In addition, a combination of multiple therapies for HCC is a good choice, such as LTA combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE), which can achieve a better prognosis than single therapy for larger tumors. For patients who are awaiting liver transplantation, LTA is a good choice. The main problem of LTA needed to be solved is to prevent the local tumor recurrence after ablation in patients with HCC. Objectives: To evaluate the outcomes of preoperative transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for resectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein invasion.Methods: From February 2006 to July 2011, 320 patients initially diagnosed with resectable HCC and portal vein invasion were prospectively non-randomized into two arms. In the immediate resection arm (Arm 1, n = 205) patients received immediate surgical resection. 115 patients were included in the preoperative TACE arm (Arm 2), and eventually 85 patients underwent TACE followed by surgical resection.Results: The 1-, 3- and 5-year overall survival rates were 48.3 %, 18.7 % and 13.9 % for Arm 1 and 61.2 %, 31.7 % and 25.3 % for Arm 2 (P = 0.001), respectively. In the subgroup analysis of types I and II portal vein tumour thrombus (PVTT), the preoperative TACE arm demonstrated significantly better survival rates than the immediate resection arm (P I  = 0.001, P II  = 0.036). However, no significant difference was found for patients with type III PVTT (P III  = 0.684). Objective. By assessing its circulating concentrations in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients, we aimed to explore the associations of betatrophin with various metabolic parameters and evaluate its diagnostic value in T2DM. Methods. A total of 58 non-diabetes-mellitus (NDM) subjects and 73 age- and sex-matched newly diagnosed T2DM patients were enrolled. Correlation analyses between circulating betatrophin levels and multiple metabolic parameters were performed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to assess the diagnostic value of betatrophin concentration in T2DM. Results. Circulating betatrophin levels were approximately 1.8 times higher in T2DM patients than in NDM individuals (median 747.12 versus 407.41 pg/mL, P<0.001). Correlation analysis showed that betatrophin was negatively associated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels in all subjects. ROC curve analysis identified betatrophin as a potent diagnostic biomarker for T2DM. The optimal cut-off point of betatrophin concentration for predicting T2DM was 501.23 pg/mL. Conclusions. Serum betatrophin levels were markedly increased in newly diagnosed T2DM patients and further elevated in obese T2DM subjects. Betatrophin was negatively correlated with HDL-C levels. Skeletal muscle growth and development are highly orchestrated processes involving significant changes in gene expressions. Differences in the location-specific and breed-specific genes and pathways involved have important implications for meat productions and meat quality. Here, RNA-Seq was performed to identify differences in the muscle deposition between two muscle locations and two duck breeds for functional genomics studies. To achieve those goals, skeletal muscle samples were collected from the leg muscle (LM) and the pectoral muscle (PM) of two genetically different duck breeds, Heiwu duck (H) and Peking duck (P), at embryonic 15 days. Functional genomics studies were performed in two experiments: Experiment 1 directly compared the location-specific genes between PM and LM, and Experiment 2 compared the two breeds (H and P) at the same developmental stage (embryonic 15 days). Almost 13 million clean reads were generated using Illumina technology (Novogene, Beijing, China) on each library, and more than 70% of the reads mapped to the Peking duck (Anas platyrhynchos) genome. A total of 168 genes were differentially expressed between the two locations analyzed in Experiment 1, whereas only 8 genes were differentially expressed when comparing the same location between two breeds in Experiment 2. Gene Ontology (GO) and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways (KEGG) were used to functionally annotate DEGs (differentially expression genes). The DEGs identified in Experiment 1 were mainly involved in focal adhesion, the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and ECM-receptor interaction pathways (corrected P-value<0.05). In Experiment 2, the DEGs were associated with only the ribosome signaling pathway (corrected P-value<0.05). In addition, quantitative real-time PCR was used to confirm 15 of the differentially expressed genes originally detected by RNA-Seq. A comparative transcript analysis of the leg and pectoral muscles of two duck breeds not only improves our understanding of the location-specific and breed-specific genes and pathways but also provides some candidate molecular targets for increasing muscle products and meat quality by genetic control. In order to explore the regulation of the invasive ability of hepatocellular carcinoma cells and the underlying mechanism, mimics sequences of microRNA (miR)-125a (miR-125a-3p/5p) and scramble sequences (miR-125a-3p-s/5p-s) were transfected into human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines, HCC-LM3 and HepG2, and the non-malignant epithelioid hepatic cell line QZG. To inhibit and upregulate the expression of miR-125a individually. Protein expression was detected by western blotting, and the cell proliferation and migration abilities were evaluated by soft agar colony formation and Transwell assay, respectively. It was revealed that the expression of miR-125a was downregulated in HepG2 and HCC-LM3 cells compared with that of QZG cells, and expression was markedly lower in HCC-LM3 cells than that in HepG2 cells (P<0.01). The colony formation and migration rates of the cells transfected with miR-125a-3p/5p were decreased compared with negative controls, but were increased in cells transfected with miR-125a-3p-3/5p-s (P<0.01). The protein and messenger RNA expression of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) was decreased following transfection with miR-125a-5p, whereas expression was increased compared with negative controls following transfection with miR-125a-5p-s (P<0.01). Furthermore, the proliferation and migration abilities of cells were attenuated following inhibition of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway by LY294002. A novel hedgehog-like ZnO/SnO 2 hierarchical heterostructures composing of one-dimensional ZnO nanorods (NRs) and three-dimensional SnO 2 octahedron nano-blocks (ONBs) have been successfully prepared on ITO substrate through a simple solution method. The results show that ZnO NRs are uniformly and densely distributed perpendicular to the surface of the SnO 2 ONB. The as-prepared ZnO NRs/SnO 2 ONB (Z/S) hierarchical heterostructure is applied to assemble ultraviolet photodetector (UVPD). Under UV light illumination, it can obviously find that the Z/S UVPD can work at zero bias voltage and exhibits a remarkable stability and repeatability. In addition, the Z/S UVPD displays excellent characteristics over that based on SnO 2 ONBs, in particular a relatively high photoresponsivity, a strong photocurrent density of 0.94 mA cm−2, together with a high on/off ratio of 5362. Chlorogenic acid (CGA) exhibits various biological properties, including the inhibition of oxidation, obesity, apoptosis and tumorigenesis. CGA is also able to promote cell survival and proliferation. The aim of the present study was to determine the effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of CGA on the adipogenesis of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Treatment with CGA had a marginal effect on cell proliferation, by promoting the expression levels of phosphorylated Akt and cyclin D1. Furthermore, treatment with CGA also upregulated the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (Erk) and inhibited the adipocyte differentiation of BMSCs by inhibiting the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR)γ and CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP)α. However, knockdown of the expression of Shp2 attenuated CGA-induced proliferation and inhibited the phosphorylation of Akt and expression of cyclin D1. Furthermore, CGA treatment upregulated Erk phosphorylation and decreased the expression levels of PPARγ and CEBPα, which was inhibited by treatment with the Shp2 PTPase activity inhibitor, NSC-87877. The results of the present study suggested that CGA-induced Akt and Erk pathways regulate proliferation and differentiation and that Shp2 is important in the proliferation and differentiation of BMSCs. In this study, we aimed to use duck breast muscle and leg muscle, the 2 main productive muscle organs, as a model to elucidate the molecular mechanism controlling how the 2 muscles have different deposition capabilities, and to analyze the mechanisms facilitating duck muscle development posthatching. Peking duck breast muscle and leg muscle were collected 3, 7, and 16 wk posthatching. The morphology of the myofibers was observed by paraffin sectioning the muscles. The expression of genes involved in protein metabolism [mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), RPS6-p70- protein kinase (S6K), forkhead box 01 (FoxOl), muscle RING finger 1 (MuRF1), and atrogin-1 (MAFbx)] was detected using real-time quantitative PCR and Western blot assays, and the results indicated that breast muscle had a stronger capacity for both protein synthesis and protein degradation compared with leg muscle. Satellite cell frequency declined during muscle development in both tissues, and the expression of Pax3/7, satellite cell marker genes, was not significantly different between breast muscle and leg muscle. No notable apoptosis was observed in either tissue. The results of this study suggest that protein metabolism signaling is the main reason promoting duck skeletal muscle mass gain. Multi-layered panels are often used to improve the acoustics in cars, airplanes, rooms, etc. For such an application these panels include porous and/or fibrous layers. The proposed numerical method is an approach to simulate the acoustical behavior of such multi-layered panels. The model assumes plate-like structures and, hence, combines plate theories for the different layers. The poroelastic layer is modelled with a recently developed plate theory. This theory uses a series expansion in thickness direction with subsequent analytical integration in this direction to reduce the three dimensions to two. The same idea is used to model either air gaps or fibrous layers. The latter are modeled as equivalent fluid and can be handled like an air gap, i.e., a kind of 'air plate' is used. The coupling of the layers is done by using the series expansion to express the continuity conditions on the surfaces of the plates. The final system is solved with finite elements, where domain decomposition techniques in combination with preconditioned iterative solvers are applied to solve the final system of equations. In a large frequency range, the comparison with measurements shows very good agreement. From the numerical solution process it can be concluded that different preconditioners for the different layers are necessary. This study investigated the prevalence and determinants of hyperuricemia in Chinese type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with central obesity. A multicentric hospital-based cross-sectional study was carried out in Guangdong Province between August 2011 and March 2012. At each hospital, Chinese T2DM patients with central obesity who were aged over 20 years, whose serum uric acid levels were measured, and who had lived in Guangdong Province for ≥1 year, were recruited. Hyperuricemia was defined as serum uric acid >420 µmol/L in men and >360 µmol/L in women. Binary logistic regression was used to assess associated risk factors for hyperuricemia. A total of 2,917 T2DM patients with central obesity took part. The overall prevalence of hyperuricemia was 32.6% (36.1% for women, 28.4% for men). Binary logistic regression analyses demonstrated that women (OR: 1.576; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.231, 2.018), high BMI (OR: 1.228; 95% CI: 1.094, 1.379), waist circumference (OR: 1.135; 95% CI: 1.009, 1.276), hypertension (OR: 1.603; 95% CI: 1.263, 2.035), high total cholesterol (OR: 1.133; 95% CI: 1.002, 1.281), triglycerides (OR: 1.134; 95% CI: 1.069, 1.203), low HDL-cholesterol (OR: 0.820; 95% CI: 0.677, 0.995) and low estimated glomerular filtration rate (OR: 0.840; 95% CI: 0.815, 0.866) were risk factors associated with hyperuricemia. Hyperuricemia is prevalent in Chinese T2DM patients with central obesity and is significantly positively associated with women, cardiovascular risk factors such as obesity, hypertension and dyslipidemia, and low eGFR. Double wall systems consisting of thin plates separated by an air gap are common light-weighted wall structures with high transmission loss. Generally, these plate-like structures are modeled in a finite element analysis with shell elements and volume elements for the air (fluid) layer. An alternative approach is presented in this paper, using shell elements for the air layer as well. First, the element stiffness matrix is obtained by removing the thickness dependence of the variational form of the Helmholtz equation by use of a power series. Second, the coupling between the acoustical shell element and the elastic structure is described. To verify the new shell element, a simple double wall system is considered. Comparing the predicted sound field with the results from a commercial FE software (with a single layer of volume elements) a very good agreement is observed. Background: Anterior cervical interbody grafts/cages combined with a plate were frequently used in multilevel discectomies/corpectomies. In order to avoid additional posterior stabilization in patients who undergo anterior reconstructive surgery, an anterior cervical transpedicular screw fixation, which offers higher stability is desirable. We investigated in this study the anatomical (morphologic) characters for cervical anterior transpedicular screw fixation. Materials and Methods: Left pedicle parameters were measured on computed tomography (CT) images based on 36 cervical spine CT scans from healthy subjects. The parameters included outer pedicle width (Distance from lateral to medial pedicle surface in the coronal plane), outer pedicle height (OPH) (Distance from upper to lower pedicle surface in the sagittal plane), maximal pedicle axis length (MPAL), distance transverse insertion point (DIP), distance of the insertion point to the upper end plate (DIUP), pedicle sagittal transverse angle (PSTA) and pedicle transverse angle (PTA) at C3 to C7. Results: The values of outer pedicle width and MPAL in males were larger than in females from C3 to C7. The OPH in males was larger than in females at C3 to C6, but there was no difference at C7. The DIP and PTA were significantly greater in males than in females at C3, but there was no difference in the angle at C4‑7. The PSTA was not statistically different between genders at C3, 4, 7, but this value in males was larger than females at C5, 6. The DIUP was significantly greater in males at C3, 4, 6, 7 but was non significant at C5. BACKGROUND: The long-term survival outcomes of hepatic resection (HR) compared with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) for resectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with portal vein tumor thrombus (PVTT) are unclear. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between December 2002 and December 2007, 201 consecutive patients diagnosed with resectable HCC with PVTT received HR as an initial treatment in our center. These patients were compared with 402 case-matched controls selected from a pool of 1798 patients (with a 1:2 ratio) who received TACE as an initial treatment during the study period. PVTT was classified to 4 types: PVTT involving the segmental branches of the portal vein or above (type I), PVTT extending to involve the right/left portal vein (type II), the main portal vein (type III), or the superior mesenteric vein (type IV). RESULTS: The 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survivals for the HR and TACE groups were 42.0%, 14.1%, and 11.1% and 37.8%, 7.3%, and 0.5%, respectively ( P < .001). On subgroup analyses, the overall survivals for the HR group were better than the TACE group for type I PVTT, type II PVTT, single tumor, and tumor size >5 cm ( P < .001, P = .002, P < .001, P < .001, respectively), but not for type III PVTT, type IV PVTT, multiple tumors, and tumor size <5 cm ( P = .541, P = .371, P = .264, P = .338, P = .125, respectively). Multivariate analysis showed the type of PVTT and initial treatment allocation were significant prognostic factors for overall survival. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with TACE, HR provided survival benefits for patients with resectable HCC with PVTT, especially for those with a type I PVTT or a type II PVTT. Background and aims. To investigate the risk factors for primary surgery and postoperative recurrence in a cohort of Chinese Crohn's disease (CD) patients. Methods. Medical notes of consecutive diagnosed patients from 2003 until 2010 were reviewed. Fifty-seven postoperative patients - finished regular follow-up - were recruited for postoperative recurrence analysis. Results. One hundred eleven of 323 (34.4%) patients of this cohort underwent primary surgery. The cumulative frequency of resection was 16.6%, 35.4%, 53%, and 94.5% for 1, 5, 10, and 30 years, respectively, after onset of disease. Male (OR: 1.994; 95% CI: 1.291-3.078, p = 0.002), stricture (OR: 4.832; 95% CI: 3.064-7.621, p = 0.000), or penetrating (OR: 4.923; 95% CI: 3.060-7.919, p = 0.000) were associated with an increased risk for primary surgery, while early use of immunomodulators was (OR: 0.438; 95% CI: 0.218-0.880, p = 0.020) associated with a decreased risk. Fifty-seven (21.1%) patients were diagnosed as postoperative clinical recurrence and the cumulative recurrence rates were 6.1%, 17.1%, and 36.8% for 1, 2, and 3 years, respectively. Perianal disease was associated with an increased risk for clinical recurrence (OR: 5.606; 95% CI: 1.59-19.766, p = 0.007). Conclusions. The operation frequency is high in CD. Male, penetrating, and stricture diseases are associated with an increased risk for primary surgery while early use of immunomodulators is associated with a decreased risk. Plant phenology models, especially leafing models, play critical roles in evaluating the impact of climate change on the primary production of temperate plants. Existing models based on temperature alone could not accurately simulate plant leafing in arid and semi-arid regions. The objective of the present study was to test the suitability of the existing temperature-based leafing models in arid and semi-arid regions, and to develop a temperature-precipitation based leafing model (TP), based on the long-term (i.e., 12-27 years) ground leafing observation data and meteorological data in Northeast China. The better simulation of leafing for all the plant species in Northeast China was given by TP with the fixed starting date (TPn) than with the parameterized starting date (TPm), which gave the smallest average root mean square error (RMSE) of 4.21 days. Tree leafing models were validated with independent data, and the coefficient of determination (R2) was greater than 0.60 in 75% of the estimates by TP and the spring warming model (SW) with the fixed starting date. The average RMSE of herb leafing simulated by TPn was 5.03 days, much lower than other models (>9.51 days), while the average R2 of TPn and TPm were 0.68 and 0.57, respectively, much higher than the other models (<0.22). It indicates that TPn is a universal model and more suitable for simulating leafing of trees and herbs than the prior models. Chronic stress is considered to predispose to various cardiovascular events such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, and even heart failure. In this study, rats were exposed to stress for 1 day, 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks to establish a chronic stress model. A specific toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) antagonist eritoran was used to block the activity of TLR4. On the second day after the last stress exposure, the animals were killed. The expression of TLR4 mRNA and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) DNA-binding activity in the myocardium were measured using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and electrophoretic mobility shift assay. The proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and interleukin (IL-6) in myocardium were assayed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Myocardial injury was evident after chronic stress for 2 weeks. The TLR4 mRNA expression reached a peak after stress for 1 week. It was sustained at a stable level after stress exposure for 3 weeks and was restored to a nearly normal level in the fourth week. NF-κB DNA-binding activity was significantly enhanced after the stress for 1 day and markedly enhanced again after a 2-week stress exposure. It was weakened and reached a normal level after stress exposure for 4 weeks. The levels of TNF-α and IL-6 gradually increased and reached peaks after stress for 4 weeks. Meanwhile, eritoran significantly decreased the TLR4 mRNA expression and NF-κB activity in rats from the 2-week stress group. However, it did not downregulate the levels of TNF-α and IL-6. Hepatectomy is considered as the potentially curative treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and used in some selected Stage IIIA HCC, which include multiple tumors more than 5 cm or tumor involving a major branch of the portal or hepatic vein(s) (UICC TNM staging system, sixth edition). Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) was used in retrospective studies to improve the survival outcome of resected HCC. However, its beneficial effect on the survival outcomes of the Stage IIIA patients has not been evaluated. The present study is to evaluate if hepatectomy combining with adjuvant TACE for Stage IIIA HCC result in better long-term survival outcome when compared with hepatectomy alone. From January 2001 to March 2004, we conducted a prospective randomized trial in patients with Stage IIIA HCC (NCT00652587), recruiting 115 Stage IIIA HCC patients to undergo hepatectomy with adjuvant TACE (HT arm) or to undergo hepatectomy alone (HA arm) in our cancer center. Survival outcomes of the two arms were analyzed. The demographic data were well matched between the two arms. There were no significant differences in the morbidity and in-hospital mortality between the two arms of patients. The most significant toxicities associated with adjuvant TACE were nausea/vomiting (54.4%) and transient hepatic toxicity (elevation of aminotransferase, 52.6%). Although there was no significant difference in the rate of recurrence between the two arms (50/57 vs. 56/58, P = 0.094), HT arm seemed to have more proportion of single lesion of recurrent HCC ( χ2 = 3.719, P = 0.054) and more proportion of potential curative therapy for recurrence ( χ2 = 4.456, P = 0.035). Until the time of censor, 92 patients had died. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival rates and median overall survival for HT arm were 80.7, 33.3, 22.8% and 23.0 months, respectively. The corresponding overall survival rates and median overall survival for HA arm were 56.5, 19.4, 17.5% and 14.0 months, respectively. The difference was significant (stratified log-rank test, P = 0.048). The 1-, 3-, and 5-year disease-free survival rates and median disease-free survival for HT arm were 29.7, 9.3, 9.3% and 6.0 months, respectively; correspondingly, for HA arm were 14.0, 3.5, 1.7% and 4.0 months, respectively (stratified log-rank test, P = 0.004). Purpose Whereas some studies have indicated that the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was correlated to some apoptosis and angiogenesis factors: p53, survivin, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs, including MMP-2 and MMP-9) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), other studies have failed to conWrm this. The aim of the present study is to investigate the expression of p53, survivin, MMPs and VEGF in HCC and the relationship between these factors and the prognosis of HCC patients. Methods The expression of p53, survivin, MMP-2, MMP-9 and VEGF was measured by immunohistochemical assays in the liver resection specimens of 90 patients with HCC. Results The positive rate of p53, survivin, MMP-2, MMP-9 and VEGF was 33.3, 51.1, 60.0, 37.8 and 76.7%, respectively. The expression of MMP-2, MMP-9 and VEGF was correlated to the recurrence of HCC patients, respectively (P < 0.01). No correlation was found between the expression of apoptosis factors (p53 and survivin) and the recurrence of HCC patients, respectively (P > 0.05). The positive correlations were found between MMP-2 and VEGF (r = 0.32, P < 0.01), MMP-9 and VEGF (r = 0.24, P < 0.05). Significant differences of disease-free survival rates occurred among subgroups according to the expression of MMP-2, MMP-9 and VEGF (P < 0.01). Multivariate analysis revealed that macroscopically disseminated nodules, tumor micrometastasis, high serum alphafetoprotein level, positive expression of MMP-9 and VEGF were independent recurrence risk factors. Conclusions Our investigation revealed that p53 and survivin could not estimate the prognosis of HCC patients. Angiogenesis factors (MMPs and VEGF) positively correlated to the prognosis of HCC patients. The evolution of the polar vortex in a shallow-water model with time-independent topographic forcing and relaxation to a constant equilibrium state is investigated for a range of topographic forcing amplitudes. For small forcing amplitudes there are only weak disturbances on the edge of the polar vortex and the vortex area remains constant, whereas for large amplitudes there are cycles where the vortex breaks down and then reforms (and zonal winds vacillate between westerlies and easterlies). Analysis of the mass within potential vorticity (PV) contours shows that these vacillations are due to out-of-phase variations in the mass fluxes across PV contours due to the relaxation and to hyperdiffusion. During the strong vortex stages Rossby wave breaking produces a cascade of PV to small scales, and these small-scale features are eventually eliminated by hyperdiffusion. This causes a decrease in the mass within the high PV contours and ultimately the destruction of the vortex. In contrast, during stages with no vortex there are very weak PV gradients, weak Rossby wave activity, and little cascade of PV to small scales. The vortex, and PV gradients, are then reestablished by the mass fluxes due to the diabatic relaxation term. These results suggest that the horizontal PV structure may play an important role in the vortex breakdown and recovery in three-dimensional models and in the real stratosphere. We have successfully fabricated highly oriented GaN films on ZnO-buffered quartz by Nd:YAG pulsed laser deposition to develop large area and low cost optoelectronic devices. The quality of the films was investigated as functions of deposition temperature and ambient pressure by means of X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, infrared reflectance and optical transmission spectroscopy. It was found that c-axis oriented GaN films could be grown on ZnO-buffered quartz substrates at temperatures from 300 to 800 °C and inactivated N2 flow from 10−3 to 2.0 Torr. The crystallinity, surface morphology and optical transmittance of the films could be improved with increasing deposition temperature and were optimized at 800 °C. A reststrahlen band was observed at 568 cm−1, confirming that GaN was indeed overlaid on ZnO-buffered quartz. The present GaN/ZnO bilayer structure has showed optical transmittance of about 60%. Purpose: Limited treatment options exist for unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), with systemic chemotherapy (SC) serving as the primary approach. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of first-line hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) in combination with lenvatinib and PD-(L)1 inhibitors (HLP) compared to SC combined with PD-(L)1 inhibitors (SCP) or SC alone in treating unresectable ICC. Methods: Patient with unresectable ICC who underwent first-line treatment with HLP, SCP or SC from January 2016 to December 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The study evaluated and compared efficacy and safety outcomes across the three treatment groups. Results: The study comprised 42, 49, and 50 patients in the HLP, SCP, and SC groups, respectively. Median progression-free survival (PFS) times were 30.0, 10.2, and 6.5 months for HLP, SCP, and SC groups. While the SC group had a median overall survival (OS) time of 21.8 months, the HLP and SCP groups hadn’t reached median OS. The HLP group demonstrated significantly superior PFS (p < 0.001) and OS (p = 0.014) compared to the others. Moreover, the HLP group exhibited the highest objective response rate (ORR) at 50.0% and the highest disease control rate (DCR) at 88.1%, surpassing the SC group (ORR, 6.0%; DCR, 52.0%) and SCP group (ORR, 18.4%; DCR, 73.5%) (p < 0.05). Generally, the HLP group reported fewer grades 3–4 adverse events (AEs) compared with others. Conclusion: In contrast to systemic chemotherapy with or without PD-(L)1 inhibitors, the triple combination therapy incorporating HAIC, lenvatinib, and PD-(L)1 inhibitors showcased favorable survival benefits and manageable adverse events for unresectable ICC. A series of metal element (Al, Fe, Mg and Ni)-doped ZnO (M-ZnO) photocatalysts have been successfully synthesized on graphene-coated polyethylene terephthalate (GPET) flexible substrate via the hydrothermal method. The effects of doped metals in ZnO were also studied on the crystal structure, morphology and photocatalytic performance. The photocatalytic experiment results indicated that, compared with Al-, Mg- and Fe-ZnO/GPET photocatalysts under ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation, Ni-ZnO/GPET had better photocatalytic activity, and the degradation rate of methylene blue (MB) was 81.17%. Meanwhile, the mechanism of enhancing the photocatalytic activity of metal element-doped ZnO is also discussed. It is concluded that, after doping with metal elements, electrons and holes are prevented from recombination by trapping electrons of the ZnO/GPET conductive band, thereby improving the photocatalytic activity. • The combination of nab-paclitaxel, cisplatin and capecitabin (TPC) as induction chemotherapy followed by cisplatin concurrent chemoradiotherpay showed good tolarance and anti-tumor effecacy in patients with advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma. • The MTD of nab-paclitaxel is 225 mg/m2, that combined with cisplatin and capecitabine as induction chemotherapy, followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy. • The RP2D of nab-paclitaxel is 200 mg/m2. Nab-paclitaxel is a promising albumin-bound paclitaxel with a therapeutic index superior to that of docetaxel, but the optimal dose of nab-paclitaxel combined with cisplatin and capecitabine as induction chemotherapy followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy for patients with locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma remains unknown. This was an open-label, single-arm study investigating the safety and efficacy of nab-paclitaxel + cisplatin + capecitabin as IC for three cycles, followed by cisplatin CCRT, conducted by using the standard "3 + 3" design in LA-NPC. If more than one-third of the patients in a cohort experienced dose-limiting toxicity (DLT), the dose used in the previous cohort was designated the maximum tolerated dose (MTD). The recommended phase 2 dose (RP2D) was defined as one level below the MTD. From 29 May 2021 to 17 March 2022, 19 patients with LA-NPC were enrolled, one patient withdrew informed consent. Two DLTs occurred in cohort 4 (grade 4 febrile neutropenia and grade 3 peripheral neuropathy), and an MTD was established as 225 mg/m2. The most frequent grade 3 or 4 adverse events were neutropenia (16.7 %), hypertriglyceridemia (16.7 %), leukopenia (5.6 %) and peripheral neuropathy (5.6 %) during IC. The RP2D is nab-paclitaxel 200 mg/m2 on day 1, combined with cisplatin 75 mg/mg2 on day 1 and capecitabin1000 mg/m2 on days 1–14, twice a day, every 3 weeks, for three cycles as an IC regimen prior to CCRT. Ge33As12Se33 films deposited by ultrafast pulse laser deposition were annealed at various temperatures and pressures, and the dependence of the surface oxidation on the processing conditions was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). We found that even as-grown film contains a thin oxidized surface and the oxygen distribution exponentially decays along the normal direction of the films regardless of different processing conditions. The critical thicknesses of the oxidized layers were 6.5, 11, 48, and 98 nm, respectively, for the as-grown, 250°C annealing sample for 4 h under 1 × 10−6 Torr, and 150° and 250°C annealing samples for 15 h under 20 mTorr. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements were performed at different heating rates under nonisothermal conditions to probe the glass transition kinetics of As2S3 bulk glass and thick films. We found that, for films, the glass transition temperature ( Tg) increases with increasing annealing temperature, and sharp crystalline-like melting endothermic peaks appear in samples annealed at 160°C. Such sharp endothermic peaks could also be found for samples annealed at 140°C for 300 h, indicating a very slow crystallization process. The activation energy for the molecular motions and rearrangements around Tg could be estimated as 2.12 eV for films and 2.3 eV for the bulk, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
