Objetivo: caracterizar a gravidade dos transtornos relacionados a substâncias nas pessoas em tratamento nos Centros de Atenção Psicossocial Álcool e outras Drogas.Método: estudo transversal, realizado em três Centros de Atenção Psicossocial Álcool e outras Drogas III, em Curitiba-Paraná, com 137 pessoas com transtornos relacionados a substâncias. Os dados foram coletados entre abril e novembro de 2018, mediante a aplicação do instrumento Addiction Severity Index sexta versão, e analisados descritivamente a partir de frequências absolutas e relativas, média e desvio padrão.Resultados: do total da amostra, 89,1% (122) eram do sexo masculino; as subescalas de maior gravidade foram Família/crianças 57,8 (± 8,6), Álcool 52,8 (±10,9) e Família/problemas sociais 51,0 (±8,9).Conclusão: O uso de substâncias psicoativas afeta as relações familiares e sociais e o álcool, uma substância lícita, de fácil acesso, está presente na vida das pessoas desde a infância, acabando por ter maior frequência entre todas as faixas etárias. Objective: to characterize the severity of substance-related disorders in patients undergoing treatment at the Psychosocial Care Centers for Alcohol and other Drugs.Method: a transversal study conducted in three Psychosocial Care Centers for Alcohol and other Drugs III, in Curitiba-Paraná, with 137 people with substance-related disorders. Data were collected from April to November of 2018, using the Addiction Severity Index sixth version, and analyzed descriptively using absolute and relative frequencies, mean and standard deviation.Results: out of the entire sample, 89.1% (122) were male; the most severe subscales were Family/children 57.8 (± 8.6), Alcohol 52.8 (± 10.9) and Family/social problems 51.0 (± 8.9).Conclusion: The use of psychoactive substances affects family and social relatedness, and alcohol, a legal substance, easily accessible, has been present in people’s lives since childhood, ending up being more frequent among all age groups. Objetivo: caracterizar la gravedad de los trastornos asociados a sustancias en las personas entratamiento en los Centros de Atención Psicosocial Alcohol y otras Drogas.Método: estudio transversal, que se realizó en tres Centros de Atención Psicosocial Alcohol yotras Drogas III, en Curitiba-Paraná, con 137 personas con trastornos asociados a sustancias.Se obtuvieron los dados entre abril y noviembre de 2018, por medio de aplicación delinstrumento Addiction Severity Index sexta versión, analizándolos de modo descriptivo apartir de frecuencias absolutas y relativas, promedio y desviación estándar.Resultados: del total de la muestra, 89,1% (122) eran del sexo masculino; las sub escalas demayor gravedad fueron Familia/niños 57,8 (± 8,6), Alcohol 52,8 (±10,9) y Familia/problemassociales 51,0 (±8,9).Conclusión: El uso de sustancias psicoactivas afecta las relaciones familiares y sociales y elalcohol, una substancia lícita, de fácil acceso, está presente en la vida de las personas desdela infancia, presentando mayor frecuencia entre todas las franjas etarias.

Introduction: Communication and information technologies in the health context allow optimizing inter-institutional activities in continuing education. Objectives: To describe the activities performed by of the Special interest group on Occupational Therapy in hospital contexts and palliative care and to discuss the importance of videoconferencing in the continuing education process of Occupational Therapy students and health professionals in this field. Materials and methods: A documentary, retrospective, and descriptive study was conducted. The special interest group was created through the Telemedicine University Network, which is a high-speed network connecting university hospitals and health teaching centers in Brazil. There are 34 operating centers from 15 Brazilian states and one Chilean university registered in the group. Results: 36 videoconferences were made between August 2013 and December 2017, where relevant topics for the practice of occupational therapists in hospital contexts and palliative care were presented. Videoconferencing allows occupational therapists to access updating material on specific topics through interactive communication sessions in virtual spaces regardless of their current location, thus overcoming geographical barriers. Conclusion: Videoconferencing contributes to the updating and spreading of knowledge and professional practices among students and occupational therapists in their professional field. Resumen Introducción. Las tecnologías de la información y de la comunicación en la salud permiten la optimización de actividades interinstitucionales en educación a distancia. Objetivos. Describir las actividades del Grupo de interés especial en terapia ocupacional en contextos hospitalarios y cuidados paliativos y discutir la importancia de la videoconferencia para la educación continua de los profesionales y estudiantes de terapia ocupacional en este ámbito. Materiales y métodos. Estudio documental y retrospectivo-descriptivo. El grupo de interés especial fue creado a través de la Red Universitaria de Telemedicina, que consiste en una red de alta velocidad que conecta hospitales universitarios y centros de enseñanza de salud en Brasil. El grupo incluye 34 centros operativos registrados en 15 estados brasileños y una universidad de Chile. Resultados. Se realizaron 36 videoconferencias entre agosto de 2013 y diciembre de 2017 con temas relevantes para la práctica de los terapeutas ocupacionales en contextos hospitalarios y cuidados paliativos. La videoconferencia permite la actualización científica de terapeutas ocupacionales en temas específicos de la especialidad a través de comunicaciones interactivas en espacios virtuales sin importar la distancia, superando así barreras geográficas. Conclusión. La videoconferencia contribuye a la actualización y difusión de conocimientos y prácticas profesionales entre estudiantes y terapeutas ocupacionales en el ámbito profesional.

The urgent need to train professionals capable of working in teams from a humanist perspective, conceiving this action on the basis of comprehensiveness of care, has been widely debated. In this context, active methods of teaching and learning have proven to be relevant because they stimulate the critical capacity and autonomy of learners. In this experience report, we aimed to discuss the use of active methodology, in this case problem methodology, in the teaching-learning process of senior undergraduate students at the College of Occupational Therapy of the ‘Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas’ - PUC-Campinas, São Paulo state, particularly considering the isciplines related to field practice and/or supervised therapeutic practice (STP). To this end, the following instruments were used for data collection: records of meetings of the evaluation stages, evaluation reports of supervision, the educational project of the Occupational Therapy course, and the experience of the teachers who taught those discipline. The analysis of the collected material, together with the reflections relevant to the experience of teachers showed that the strategies and devices used in the educational isciplines, by relying on problem methodology, resulted in greater awareness and accountability of students, as well as greater autonomy and capacity to plan and develop intervention procedures required under different development scenarios of those disciplines. Moreover, we also observed the capacity of students to transform the situations experienced into knowledge, enabling the expansion of the decision-making perspective and the construction of a more reflective attitude. All these aspects have ensured the existence of a teaching-learning perspective that sought to encompass personal, social, cognitive, technical and ethical dimensions.

The VI Latin American Meeting of Schools and Teachers of Occupational Therapy (OT) took place in October 2011, at the Faculty of Medicine of USP, being associated with the XII Brazilian and IX Latin American Occupational Therapy Congress, held in Sao Paulo. The meeting was organized by the Latin American Confederation of Occupational Therapists (CLATO), the National Network of Education and Research in Occupational Therapy (RENETO) and the Departmentof Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy of FMUSP. At the event 160 professionals were present among which 117 Brazilian and 43 from eight Latin American countries and two European. Fifty percent of the Brazilian educational institutions were represented, mainly from the southeast, and 35.8% of the Latin American ones. Invited researchers exhibited about the education in Brazil and Latin America and, about the challenges for higher education in the region. CLATO characterized OT education and, round tables were held about the undergraduate and graduate programs by teachers from Brazil and Latin America. Thirty-five papers were presented in the form of posters: 27 on undergraduate education, 3 on graduate education and 5 on higher education. The final meeting of the event recommended the participation of students in future events, the expansion of the event for two days, and the creation of working groups to organize in advance the thematic debates on the difficulties and potentialities of undergraduate and graduate OT Education for the VII Meeting to be held in Venezuela in 2013.

O envelhecimento populacional associado ao aumento progressivo da ocorrência do câncer tem mudado o perfil da mortalidade da população, o que exige do Sistema Único de Saúde uma organização para o oferecimento de cuidados a pessoas com câncer avançado, em cuidados paliativos. O objetivo deste estudo foi conhecer a assistência prestada a pessoas com câncer avançado e seus familiares, na rede de atenção à saúde de Ribeirão Preto, a partir de suas histórias de vida e na perspectiva dos próprios usuários. Trata-se de um estudo com abordagem qualitativa desenvolvido com pessoas com câncer avançado e seus familiares, cujos dados foram coletados em encontros individuais, previamente agendados, com base na modalidade de história de vida. A pesquisa foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa com Seres Humanos da Escola de Enfermagem de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo (CAAE: 51204015.0.0000.5393). Foram 18 pessoas entrevistadas, sendo que a seleção dos participantes se deu por amostragem \"não probabilística\", dentre a população atendida pela Associação Brasileira de Combate ao Câncer Infantil e Adulto (ABRACCIA), pelos Núcleos 1 e 2 da Estratégia de Saúde da Família e pelo Serviço de Assistência Domiciliar, de Ribeirão Preto/SP; a seleção dos familiares foi por indicação do paciente, por serem seus principais cuidadores. As entrevistas foram audiogravadas e transcritas de modo literal e integralmente. A análise dos dados foi realizada de acordo com a Análise de Conteúdo Temático. Os resultados foram organizados em duas grandes unidades de análise - uma referente ao sistema de saúde e outra sobre a vivência pessoal e familiar no processo de cuidado. Dentre essas unidades, foram abordados temas como a importância que o oferecimento de um serviço de qualidade acarreta na história de vida das pessoas com câncer e seus familiares, envolvendo tanto questões relacionais e de comunicação, como estruturais e ambientais do próprio serviço onde é cuidado. Embora se tenha observado uma falta de informação sobre possibilidades terapêuticas, como o cuidado paliativo, os relatos indicaram que os participantes sentem-se gratos pela oportunidade do tratamento contra o câncer. Portanto, há a necessidade de que seja implantada uma política de saúde específica de cuidado paliativo, sendo esta de forma eficaz e proveitosa, tanto para os profissionais de saúde como para os as pessoas adoecidas e seus familiares Population aging in Brazil and the progressive increase in cancer occurrence have changed the mortality profile in the population, which requires the Brazilian National Healthcare System to manage the offering of proper health care to patients with advanced cancer and in need of palliative care. The objective of this study was to gain an understanding of the health care provided to people with advanced cancer and to their families, from their life stories and their own perspective as users of the Ribeirão Preto healthcare network. Qualitative study of people with advanced cancer and their families in which the data collection was based on the life story approach and was carried out in scheduled individual meetings. The study was approved by The Human Subjects Research Ethics Committee from Ribeirão Preto Nursing School - University of São Paulo, under number \'CAAE:51204015.0.0000.5393\'. We interviewed 18 subjects who had been selected by non-probability sampling from the population which is assisted by 3 institutions: The Brazilian Association for the Combatting of Child and Adult Cancer (ABRACCIA); The Family Health Strategy Units 1 and 2; and The Ribeirão Preto Home Healthcare Service. The selection of family members was based on the patients\' recommendations, since those are their main caregivers. The interviews were audio recorded and transcribed verbatim and in full. Data analysis was conducted by Thematic Content Analysis. The results were organized into two main units - one on the healthcare network and another on the personal and family life in the home care process. Within these units we addressed themes like the impact of the health service quality on the life stories of people with cancer and their families, involving not only the relationship and communication issues but also the structure and environment of the health service itself. Even though we observed a lack of information on therapeutic possibilities, such as palliative care, the reports indicate that the participants feel grateful for the opportunity of cancer treatment. Therefore, a specific health policy on palliative care needs to be implemented and this must be done in an effective and beneficial way for both the health professionals and for the patients and their families

INTRODUÇÃO: O processo de morte e morrer é mais do que um evento biológico; tem uma dimensão social, filosófica, antropológica, espiritual, religiosa, psicológica e pedagógica. A possibilidade de morte desperta sentimentos diversos, como incertezas, ansiedade, medos e angústias. Câncer e morte são termos comumente associados, mas ainda evitados na nossa sociedade e tratados com dificuldade pelas equipes de saúde. OBJETIVO: Identificar e analisar os modos de compreensão e manejo do processo de morte e morrer de pessoas com câncer por parte dos profissionais em diferentes contextos assistenciais de saúde onde atuam. MÉTODO: Trata-se de um estudo exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa, aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa com Seres Humanos (CAAE:51275915.7.0000.5393, nº do Parecer: 1.402.355). Foi realizada uma pesquisa documental para a caracterização dos contextos de saúde e foram entrevistados 9 profissionais que trabalham em diferentes contextos de saúde localizados num município do interior do Estado de São Paulo - três profissionais de uma Unidade Básica de Saúde, três de um hospital público de média complexidade e três de um hospital público de elevada complexidade (que atuam em Unidade de Terapia intensiva e Enfermaria de Oncologia). RESULTADOS E DISCUSSÃO: Os dados coletados compuseram três categorias de análise: 1) a empatia e alteridade 2) conflitos éticos 3) dificuldade e estratégias de enfrentamento. A análise dos dados indicou que há diferenças nas vivências e formas de enfrentamento dos profissionais que atuam em equipamentos de saúde nos diferentes níveis de complexidade de atenção. Porém, há também aspectos em comum, como a percepção de que é muito difícil lidar com a demanda de pacientes oncológicos perto da morte, principalmente se forem crianças e jovens, de que falta capacitação e formação continuada para lidar com pacientes em cuidado paliativo, principalmente na atenção primária e nos cuidados de final de vida, e que é necessária a criação de espaços e/ou grupos de apoio para que os trabalhadores de saúde possam cuidar de si mesmos. CONSIDERAÇÕES FINAIS: Conclui-se que há necessidade de novas investigações acerca dessa temática e de um real investimento, tanto institucional como de criação de políticas educativas e de saúde do trabalhador, para melhor acolher e capacitar os profissionais que cuidam de pessoas com câncer em cuidados paliativos INTRODUCTION: The process of death and dying is more than a biological event; has a social dimension, philosophical, anthropological, spiritual, religious, psychological and pedagogical. The possibility of death awakens feelings, as uncertainty, anxiety, fears and anxieties. Cancer and death are terms commonly associated with, but still avoided in our society and treated with difficulty by health teams. Objective: to identify and analyse the ways of understanding and management of the process of death and dying of people with cancer by professionals in different contexts where health assistance Act. METHOD: An exploratory study with a qualitative approach, approved by the Committee of ethics in research with Human Beings (CAAE: 51275915.7.0000.5393, paragraph of the opinion: 1,402,355). A documentary search for the characterization of the contexts of health and 9 were interviewed professionals working in different health contexts located in a municipality in the State of São Paulo-three professionals of a basic health Unit, medium complexity hospital january 3 and january 3 high complexity public hospital (who work in intensive care and Oncology Ward). RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: the collected data composed three categories of analysis: 1) empathy and otherness 2) ethical conflicts 3) difficulty and coping strategies. The analysis of the data indicated that there are differences in experiences and ways of coping of professionals working in health equipment in different levels of complexity. However, there are also commonalities, such as the perception that it is very difficult to cope with the demand of cancer patients close to death, especially if they are children and young people, who lack training and continuing education to deal with patients in palliative care, particularly in primary health care and end-of-life care, and the need for the creation of spaces and/or support groups so that health workers can take care of themselves. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: It is concluded that there is a need for further research on this subject and a real investment, both institutional education policies and creation of workers \' health, to better accommodate and empower the professionals who care for people with cancer in palliative care
