Some libraries play an essential role in teaching and learning but there are some constraints. It causes universities to be able to identify various factors and overcome the challenges of implementing KM in libraries. This study aims to explore current Knowledge Management (KM) practices in Public University Libraries (PUL). This type of research is qualitative. The methods used in collecting qualitative data are observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The instrument used is the interview sheet. The sample of this research is 11 people using purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings reveal no formal KM program in any of the selected universities. This study found that a prudent strategy for KM implementation, recruiting skilled personnel, ongoing training programs for staff and users, leadership, ICT infrastructure, higher authority decisions, budgets, and lack of qualified personnel are critical success factors for KM implementation in PUL. This research identified many challenges that PUL usually faces in their efforts to implement KM: lack of budget, lack of user awareness, lack of trained staff, and outdated technology.

Social media is an open platform to communicate, share and exchange information freely. This uncontrolled exchanged information carries out both negative and positive impacts in others’ lives. In this regard, this study aims to identify ethical issues on this information in line with Ibn Khaldun’s ethical considerations. Out of many other social networking sites, Twitter has been identified as one of the most popular microblogging social networking platforms. Using a simple algorithm in R programming and 43 keywords based on Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts, 1075 public tweets have been extracted from Twitter as a sample of ethical issues. The sentiment analysis in Parallel Dots was performed on the collected tweets, and it was discovered that 700 of the tweets are positive statements, 229 are neutral statements, and 146 are negative statements. Having done the validation process on these sentiments, the study proposed these identified ethical issues from tweets as a domain in developing ontology relationships with Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts. In this process, further study can be carried on with wider data from various sources beyond the limitation of this study. Thus, a semantic database could serve as a guideline for SNS ethical issues based on Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts.

Blended Learning (BL) essentially fuses high-tech digital learning with traditional ones to involve students in “network learning”, which helps in transcending physical boundaries. Especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, BL has been embraced as a realistic possibility to ensure seamless knowledge distribution regardless of time and space. Knowledge Management (KM)-based approaches are typically used to collect, coordinate, and control processes that may be utilised efficiently to both recognise and address customer needs. This study aims to explain how to apply KM techniques within the BL environment to increase educational excellence and quality. We used a quantitative approach, specifically by adopting an online questionnaire circulated to about 272 undergraduate students, primarily from the Department of Information Science and Library Management (ISLM) of the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. We received completed answers from 74 students; the data gathered were analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20. The findings reveal that KM can be used with BL, especially during crisis times like the one we have today, as it includes integrated tasks and online and e-learning. Finally, the study also proposed an intuitive model for applying BL through KM. Importantly, this study seems to be among the first to examine the students’ perceptions about BL and KM integration during a pandemic. Therefore, this research would possibly prompt further research on different aspects of the combined learning process at different universities, especially within Bangladesh.

Aim of research. Design thinking (DT) is an essential context for knowledge management (KM), as it promotes the link between KM initiatives and an organization's strategic goals and objectives. This article analyzes the DT process in terms of its capability to create KM. The detailed analysis on the aspect of the working mechanism of DT – how KM is represented and created in the process. This article examines the DT procedure in terms of its ability to generate design knowledge. In this regard, the main purpose of this paper is to review the approaches to KM applied to DT and to suggest directions for how such a supervisory system could evolve. Methodology. This study is thematic in its nature and it was prepared on the basis of secondary data and also based on an inclusive review of the literature and similarly computation of secondary information. To formulate this paper the researchers used books, earlier published articles, conference papers, and numerous research reports. Results and conclusions. This article concludes by proposing an intuitive model for DT and KM. KM for its successful application in higher learning institutions in the areas of course design institutional strategy formation and faculty resource sharing.

Women’s rights issues in relation to marriage are the most significant topic of debate in many countries. Marriage is regularly portrayed as an “oppressive sphere” for women, with their rights being oppressed the moment they enter a marriage contract, especially in Islam. However, in many cases, Islamic matrimony has been demonstrated to liberate women, preserve their honour and place in society, and abolish injustice when guided by principles from the Qur’an an d t he Sun nah of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.). In gen eral, misconception regarding the Muslims is caused by cultural interpretation and malpractice of the original Islamic teachings, which have tainted the true Islamic ideal. This study addresses the rights of women in marriage from the Qur’anic perspective and from the maqasid shariah approach. It also examines the concept by referring to the laws in Malaysia and explores the issue of whether the Malaysian laws uphold the rights of women or not. The discussion is based on the related Qur’anic verses including their tafsir, and supported with the Hadith of the Prophet. Consecutively, the paper analyses the rights of women in the laws of Malaysia, with support from any related cases law. This library research examines the topic from the viewpoints of the Qur’an and the Sunnah as the primary sources of Islamic law, followed by an analysis on the statutes of laws in Malaysia and several relevant decided cases. In addition, the opinions of scholars regarding the issue on the rights of women in marriage are also taken into consideration in the analysis. It is hoped that the study may provide a clear reference and guideline regarding the rights of women in marriage from both the Islamic and Malaysian laws as this topic is highly significant and beneficial to numerous parties in the present day.

Thematic interpretations of al-Qur’ān (TIaQ) has a sensitivity due to the interrelation of Qur’ānic verses/ verse with each other. The purpose of this research was to extract the online Qur’ānic search engines (OQSE) and investigate the existing thematic interpretations of al-Qur’ān (TIaQ) based on the alignment with their relevant verses. The OQSEs provide the list of themes and the aligned verses theme and the aligned rhyme in their websites. The ambiguous thematic search engines have the possibility to mislead the user by retrieving nonaligned verses against a certain subject/theme (query) or the user may not fully understand the interpretations due to the incomplete results. The extracting of themes/topic and the aligned verses have been conducted using Cranfield’s Index Device method. Then a two-round Delphi method has been applied to justify the existing themes and the aligned verses by 20 experts of Qur’ānic discipline. There are 240 themes and 400 verses have been extracted and categorized into 40 thematic groups (TG). The experts’ justification through Delphi method has revealed that the accuracy of ordinated thematic groups in OQSE is 40% (16/40) only and the accuracy of the ordination of the themes and the verses achieved 35.41% (85/240). Despite the significant outcome of this research, the limitation recommends that further research should be conducted extracting more themes and aligned verses from OQSEs. Instead of 20 experts in Delphi, future research can concentrate on a big number of experts to investigate all the thematic verses of entire Qur’ān. Twitter is a well-known social networking platform where users exchange information and express opinions. Since many people’s interactions now take place on social media, this medium has rapidly become a source of capturing knowledge from users. The aim of this study is to find tweets using R that are then related to Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts. The analysis was carried out with a simple algorithm written in R Programming. 45 keywords based on Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts were constructed as the hashtag to retrieve data from Twitter. As a result of the data extraction, 1075 public tweets were collected through the search API. The simple algorithm is capable to facilitating the process of extracting data from Twitter, such that it easily known to the public tweets that exist in a given time period and this can be used as reference material for further development process. For further work, it is possible to use text mining activities and sentiment analysis approaches, as well as explore various social media platforms using R packages for decision makings.

The Digital Games with Islamic Values can be used to discover and learn Islamic knowledge, practices more effectively, in an interactive and fun environment. However, the preliminary findings suggest that these games were not as popular as the general digital games. This paper seeks to investigate the different types of Digital Games with Islamic values existed in the market place, as the foundation to conduct more research in the area and also to develop better games in the future. In this study, the existing digital games were obtained from three popular websites for Online Islamic Games and two mobile-based distribution channels: Android and Apple stores. 196 games were selected in the study. The types of Digital Games presented in this paper can serves as a guideline for designers to identify gaps in existing Digital Games with Islamic values and develop better games for the Muslim community.

The current paper reviews and discusses digital games with Islamic values. The aim of the paper is to look beyond the traditional perspective of digital game design, towards the design opportunities that exist to create digital games that will offer engaging content combined with Islamic values that players can easily and pleasurably use, and ultimately receives the message about Islam. To this end, this study has conducted a series of semi-structured interviews with Muslim scholars. This paper reports the Muslim scholars’ perspectives on the benefit of Digital Games.

BackgroundHospital Information System (HIS) was introduced by the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia to improve hospital information management. A timely and accurate data aids in facilitating decision-making processes. HIS monitoring and evaluation activities revealed issues in data quality, particularly data completeness. This study aims to explore the data completeness issue in HIS. *The assessment focused on the “structured data” (i.e. data in the database field) instead of “unstructured data” (i.e. data in free text form). Methods [Refer to Poster]. Results[Refer to Poster]. Discussion / ConclusionData completeness is a vital issue to be addressed, with national plans for electronic health record initiative to be implemented in the future. Advancements in technology should be considered to be used to improve the data entry process among implementers, e.g. voice-to-text to assist with data entry during ward rounds. There should also be more flexibility in system configuration to allow for verification and validation processes to be in place to fulfil the quality standard requirements.

Being complex systematically, Knowledge Management (KM) has always been challenging in the healthcare industry (HCI) of developing countries like Pakistan due to gap in acquiring and implementing KM processes. Despite the fact that extensive data and related information is available, the Pakistani HCI has been facing a major challenge due to the absence of a sound and solid KM process framework. Hence, the existing healthcare information systems in Pakistan lack the ability to control and cater the diversified nature of new knowledge creation and innovation. Consequentially, it results in inefficient and ineffective organization of knowledge along with inability to properly utilize important resources that are used for decision making activities. In this study, the researchers present and suggest an integrated and inter-operable KM process framework that helps to streamline and integrate a KM process in a phased comportment that identifies, defines, analyzes, collects and manages knowledge along with its innovation, dissemination, sharing and storage in an appropriate way.

Social networking sites (SNS) especially Facebook become a popular platform for sharing and communicate with people all around the world. Its popularity is rising together with the ethical issues that need to be faced by normal users. Since these issues have gotten the people intention, the aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the ontology of Facebook in relation to Ibn Khaldun ethics. A systematic literature review of the articles been conduct related with ontology in Facebook and Ibn Khaldun thoughts which met the following selection criteria: (1) published in a peer-reviewed journal, (2) written in English, (3) free accessed download article, (4) range date from 2008 to 2017, (5) article content related to search topic. The literature search generated 172,731 records of article searched from selected 4 databases from IIUM library website and only 2,235 article titles or abstracts have been screened, which match with author’s keywords. After refined the results, 84 abstract and full-text articles were retrieved and reviewed. The findings identify types of articles by classes in eight categories, namely: (1) author name, (2) year of publication, (3) research methodology being used, (4) retrieved from which database, (5) the area covered by the article, (6) journal name, (7) journal ranking by Scopus, (8) journal subject. In conclusion, the contribution of ontology development between Ibn Khaldun’s thoughts may relate to ethical issues on Facebook, and thus will be a guideline for others researcher to review a model for developing ontology concepts for ethics to extend to broader areas.

This study assessed the factors that contribute to intention to publish in open access journals among researchers in Tanzanian Agricultural Research Institutes. Five factors derived from the literature were used to predict intention to publish in Open Access Journals. These factors are: journal reputation, the speed of publishing, content relevance, visible advantage and citation impact. Data were collected from 121 researchers through a cross-section survey questionnaire. The findings revealed that journal reputation, visibility advantage and citation impact have significant effect on intention to publish in open access journals. Nonetheless, further analysis showed that the speed of publishing as well as content relevance have no significant influence on citation impact. This article articulates the basis for research institutions and practitioners to nurture open access publishing in order to address the dearth of empirical studies on open access journal publishing in Tanzania.

This research explored the readiness towards the implementation of open science initiatives in the Malaysian Comprehensive Public Universities; both quantitative and qualitative research methods were implemented. The survey questionnaire was distributed to the academic researchers and library professionals from the selected universities and a semi-structured interview was conducted with the heads of the libraries together with their deputies to complement the first method. The findings indicate that the public universities in the country were partially involved with open science, even though the term is still new to most of the participants. The Institutional Repository is the commonly known means through which these universities promote and practice open science, although only 10% to 30% of the contents were made available to the general public. However, these institutions are currently working on implementing a policy on how to operate and fully engage other aspects of the open science practices, such as open data, open collaboration, open innovation, and the likes.

Over the past decade, Knowledge Management (KM) in healthcare has become an essential and integral tool for efficient and effective governance of Healthcare Management Information Systems (HMIS) all over the globe [12]. As compared to developed countries, the developing countries are still facing challenges and problems to implement effective knowledge management procedures in Healthcare Information Systems due to many factors that impact directly or indirectly. Specifically, the public-sector healthcare in those developing countries that have huge populations is the center of emphasis and prominence [16]. This paper envisions and discusses the current situation of KM practices in public sector healthcare organizations of Pakistan. It proposes a component-based KM Model that integrates all the integral components of an effective KM system with an efficient KM process framework and escorts to enhance the integration and interoperability of the healthcare information system to improve governance and augment the successful implementation of KM in public sector healthcare organizations. Further, this component-based KM Model would help to improve decision-making process through enhanced KM procedures, integrated KM technical infrastructure and interoperable capabilities of the healthcare information system.

The Al-Quran presents the sophisticated set of knowledge, which is organized in 30 Suras, with 6236 verses and several topics as the guidelines for every part of life. To comply with guidelines given by Islam, main challenges are to arrange, co-relate, extract, and find the correct meaning of knowledge engraved in these suras, juz, and verses. In this study, an argument in establishing ontology-matching technique is presented. The objective of this research is to present properties of Al-Quran tafsir knowledge. This study propose a highly granular ontology design for Al-Quran tafsir. Finally, to establish Ontology matching as knowledge management technique, this research presents experiments and results after applying word-matching technique. Presence of number of matching count in suras according to its theme proves the argument.

Social Networking Sites (SNS) is a popular platform for sharing and communicating with people all around the world. Its popularity brings in various communication contents discussed by the public. However, SNS is an open communicative channel which has no specific rules for its users to follow. This result in its misappropriation by some people to share their unethical values or destructive ideas with others. This paper is in the view that computer ethics must follow Islamic ethics. Thus the aim of this paper is to identify the ethical issues in SNS with reference to Ibn Khaldun's thoughts through his masterpiece The Muqaddimah. It has undertaken a qualitative methodology approach through a textual analysis method. The study has focused on acquiring expert verification throughout a proposed list of Ibn Khaldun's thoughts. The findings show ten (10) Ibn Khaldun's thoughts which have been justified as a reference to ethical issues in SNS nowadays. In conclusion, Ibn Khaldun's thoughts may have contributed to ethical issues in SNS. These findings may guide other researchers to further deliberate the contributions of Ibn Khaldun in the disciplines of human social networking and information computer technology.

Our paper presents on an information dissemination model for scholars on cryptocurrencies. The objectives are to review the existing information dissemination models, identify known factors influencing information dissemination process, and propose an information dissemination model for scholars on cryptocurrencies. The research questions are on why the epidemic models could be used for understanding cryptocurrencies, what are the known factors influencing the relevant information dissemination model, and how could information spreading model on cryptocurrencies work for scholars. We explored the epidemic models and their influencing factors on cryptocurrencies through a survey of literature. We found that the epidemic model can describe the information spreading for scholars on cryptocurrencies. We have added the activities triggering the S-I-E-R model.

Citation analysis for Islamic subjects is distinctively unique and must follow the epistemology of Islamic knowledge. The interest of defining a subject is a passionate concern in the field of library and information science (LIS). Contextual and domain visualization helps in viewing halal as a subject through tracing its origin in Islamic epistemology lineage. Halal as a subject is conceptually defined based on systematic review of works published by prominent Islamic scholars. This paper discussed the scope and definition of halal as a subject and potential keywords drawn from the systematic review. Potential keywords are tested through purposive sampling in ProQuest database, and major topics are identified. Islamic epistemology-based Approach Citation Analysis requires references pointed to highest sources in Islam, the Quran. In this research, an online al-Quran index is used to retrieve terms related to halal. Quranic verses are referred to an online index based on high potential keywords under the themes of halal food themes. The concept of halalan toyyiban is retrieved through myriads of keywords in online databases. These terms are then searched in ProQuest database, and search results are qualitatively analysed. The aim of the research is to conduct a contextual analysis of Islamic subject domain particularly the one appearing in online databases. Halal and its related subdivisions along with their core authors, journals and affiliations are identified in the analysis.

This chapter investigates knowledge-sharing practice among academics, examines the relationship between knowledge-sharing behavior and its predictors based on theory of planned behavior, and identifies the motivators and barriers affecting these predictors. Data were collected using a web-based questionnaire. Using SPSS and PLS-SEM, the analysis process involved (1) measuring the extent of knowledge sharing practice, (2) assessing the measurement model, (3) assessing the structural model, (4) testing the hypotheses, (5) validating research model fit. Results showed (1) great extent of knowledge-sharing practice, (2) knowledge-sharing behavior is significantly affected by intention, which is affected by attitude, subjective norms, self-efficacy, but not affected by controllability, (3) attitude is positively affected by trust and reputation as motivators of knowledge sharing, while controllability is negatively affected by lack of time and poor communication as barriers of knowledge sharing. This is the first research on knowledge-sharing behavior in higher education in UAE.

This article aims to describe the differences between research-focused and teaching-focused (non-research) universities in terms of usage of web-based library services, as discovered by way of questionnaires and statistical analyses. It was found that the type of university within the country of Malaysia correlates to significant differences in usage of e-journals and Web-based library services in general. Factors such as library budget allocations, research productivity, and extrinsic motivations for using Web-based library services are surmised to have influenced the usage. The results also suggest that library programs at both types of universities are ineffective in creating awareness of the services. This article discusses several aspects of usage in both types of university and makes several suggestions to remedy identified problems.

Disasters affect human lives severely. Due to these disasters, hundreds and thousands of human beings lost their lives and gracious properties. Government agencies, non- government organization and individual volunteers act to rescue the affected people and to mitigate the disaster effects. These teams require real time information about the nature, severity, area and number of affectees. Their efforts can be supported by providing timely, effective and specific information so that the rescuers can get better idea about the available routes to reach the affectees, urgency and mass of loss. People share huge amount of data through blogs and social media that can be utilized to help rescue operations. This information can electronically be filtered, arranged and formatted in a proper manner. Thus, semantic web technologies can play a vital role in providing timeliness information. Purpose of this research is to capture explicit knowledge of the domain in form of ontologies, automatic information extraction, generation of implicit knowledge and then disseminating this information to various stakeholders. Collection of implicit and explicit knowledge will help improve decision making for disaster trail management.

Healthcare is a community service sector and has been delivering its services for the betterment of civic health since its establishment at communal level. For working efficiently and effectively, this sector profoundly relies on correct and complete health information of people and a proficient integrated healthcare knowledge management information system (HKMIS) to manage this information. The performance of Healthcare organizations has significantly augmented by inception of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in HKMIS in developed countries, but is yet to exhibit its full potential in developing countries specifically those with huge populations like Pakistan. An exploratory qualitative research methodology was adopted to conduct this study. The purpose and objective of this study was to determine and investigate the internal and external factors that influence the performance of HKMIS by performing SWOT analysis on two of the largest public-sector healthcare organizations of Pakistan. The findings of this study will certainly help authorities to devise methods of improvement in Pakistani HKMIS eventually paving ways towards a better and improved healthcare in the future.

The main objectives of this research are to (i) investigate the practice of knowledge sharing among academics, and (ii) examine the relationship between knowledge sharing behaviour and its predictors based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour. Data were collected through an online survey using a questionnaire from academics in public universities. Using SPSS and PLS-SEM, data analysis process involved (i) analysis of descriptive statistics to evaluate knowledge sharing practice, (ii) assessment of the measurement model to evaluate items reliability and validity, and (iii) assessment of the structural model to evaluate its validity, path coefficients, and test the hypotheses. The results showed a great extent of knowledge sharing practice. They proved that academics' knowledge sharing behaviour is significantly influenced by intention, which is influenced by attitude, subjective norms, and self-efficacy. Contrary to the theory, the results showed that controllability does not influence intention.

This research aims to determine the factors affecting knowledge sharing behavior among academics in United Arab Emirates universities and identify the effect of university type on academics’ behavior. The research adopted Ajzen’s amended Theory of Planned Behavior. Employing an online survey, data were collected from academics in public and private universities using a questionnaire. The model was tested using Partial Least Squares structural equation modeling. The results found a significant difference in academics’ knowledge sharing behavior between public and private universities. Results also revealed that intention is the main determinant of knowledge sharing behavior, and that attitude, subjective norms, and self-efficacy have significant influence on intention while controllability has no influence on it. The significance of this research lies in that it is one of the first to use the amended theory and the only research to address knowledge sharing behavior in higher education in the Arab World. This research provides useful basis for higher education institutions to create a knowledge sharing culture and helps academics to enhance their performance.

A retrieval profiling is to capturing the metadata of search process and the details of retrieval results. According to the theory of information retrieval (IR) that relevance judgment should be justified by user's needs, the aim of this research is to propose a retrieval profiling framework (RPF) for pooling relevant interpretations of al-Quran based on thematic search. A thematic interpretation of al-Quran is called tafseer al-maudu'iy (urdu language sentence). The domain tafseer al-maudu'iy is sensitive in IR due to its interrelation of Quranic interpretation within its verse(s). On account of this concern, this paper has proposed a RPF to develop a standard procedure for themes/topics of al-Quran in order to keep the interrelation in search. It has undertaken mix methodology with a comparative study on two thematic search engines of al-Quran and two sources of thematic interpretation of al-Quran to accomplish the procedure. With a counting number of themes and experts' justification, it encountered a pilot test to justify the validity of the RPF and found effective. Despite the limitation of data and experts, it is assumed that this RPF can contribute to users in thematic search of al-Quran as well as it can practically guide the IR system developers for generating a good retrieval platform based on thematic search of Quranic interpretation.

This paper presents our work on Subject-Action-Object (SAO) extraction as one component needed on patent discovery system development for Islamic Finance and Banking. There are some processes done in order to conduct SAO extraction. They are covering retrieving patents and transforming patents into structured data. We used several patent databases such as USPTO, MyIPO, WIPO, and EPO to collect patents. In patent searching, we used keywords, which were derived from Islamic Finance and Banking phrase, book's title, of which its content is related to Islamic Finance and Banking, and all concepts on Islamic Finance and Banking ontology. Result on SAO extraction will be utilized on the next component on the system i.e. analyzing patents trend using TRIZ evolution trend model.

The major challenge in the existing healthcare industry of Pakistan is that despite the presence of extensive data and related information, there is no solid Knowledge Management (KM) process or framework for controlling and catering the diversified nature of knowledge creation for effective decision making resulting in ineffective and inefficient organization and utilization of various important resources being used during the decision making operations [12] [13]. In this study, we present and suggest a comprehensive and phased knowledge management process framework that integrates and streamlines varied and multiple processes in a phased manner to collect, analyze and manage knowledge and the knowledge creation process for supporting the effective decision making in healthcare information systems related to healthcare industry of Pakistan. This KM process framework will help identify the information needs and provide decision makers with useful step-by-step recommendations and guidelines based upon the integrated knowledge and past experience.

This paper presents our work in designing system architecture for applying Malik Bennabi's ruler on Intellectual Property (IP) of Islamic Finance and Banking. We chose journal article as one form of IP for Islamic Finance and Banking. There are several components in the architecture starting from IP retrieval, structure extraction, structure classification, structure summarization, and Knowledge-based similarity measuring. The architecture will be implemented in order to measure all journal article's content and group them into two categories namely Useful and Harmful.

Objectives: This paper describes work in constructing two models of knowledge representation in order to increase the performance of retrieving information on English Quran domain. Due to many approaches available to construct knowledge representation, this paper only focused on ontology-based and graph database-based knowledge representation. Methods: Quranic Arabic Corpus that available at http://www.corpus.quran.com is used as a source to build the knowledge representation. This paper extracted several data from it which include English token, token location, and token Part Of Speech (POS). Protege is used to construct the ontology and Neo4j is utilized in developing the graph database. Findings: This paper has presented a construction process of two models of Knowledge Representation(KR)which are ontology and graph database based KR. These models will be used in developing of an English Quran question answering system in order to discover which model exhibit the best achievement in increasing question answering system performance. Improvements/Applications: The authors hope there will be useful information gained from the question answering system experiments when using both of those models.

The main objectives of this research are to (i) investigate the practice of knowledge sharing among academics, and (ii) examine the relationship between knowledge sharing behaviour and its predictors based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour. Data were collected through an online survey using a questionnaire from academics in public universities. Using SPSS and PLS-SEM, data analysis process involved (i) analysis of descriptive statistics to evaluate knowledge sharing practice, (ii) assessment of the measurement model to evaluate items reliability and validity, and (iii) assessment of the structural model to evaluate its validity, path coefficients, and test the hypotheses. The results showed a great extent of knowledge sharing practice. They proved that academics' knowledge sharing behaviour is significantly influenced by intention, which is influenced by attitude, subjective norms, and self-efficacy. Contrary to the theory, the results showed that controllability does not influence intention.

Mosques, as symbol of Islamic architecture must play an important role in reflecting the superiority of Allah the Almighty. There are many ways in making it successful and one of them is through the high quality of aesthetic value. Aesthetic value in Islamic art and architecture is normally portrayed by the highest degree of motifs and ornamentation. Contemporary mosque designers normally focused on the majestic looks of the exterior part of the mosques and leave the manipulation of the interior space to the users. There are scholars who said that mosques should act as community development centre, some decided on the uniqueness of traditional Malaysian architecture and some believed that mosques must have domes and minarets as symbols of Islamic architecture. This paper realized on the aesthetics and beauty of mosque interior that fulfils the psychological needs of human beings: that is to be inside a beautiful ambience. Ornamentation should be taken as part of mosque components and not as mere decorations done after-thought or filling in the gap. The main objective of the paper is why is it important to focus the ornamentation towards mosque interior so that ornamenting the mosque will not be done uncontrollably and unnecessarily.

Purpose – This paper seeks to report on the study that proposed a model of image retrieval tasks for creative multimedia. The aim of this model was to understand the purpose of the tasks, intended use of the images, mode of query submission, nature of the keywords given by the users, and relevance criteria.Design/methodology/approach – A survey was done to compile a total of 35 image retrieval tasks from 35 academic staff members at Faculty of ICT, International Islamic University Malaysia, and Faculty of Creative Multimedia, Malaysia. A search using Google Image Search category was carried out to find images on the web that met the intended use of the academic staff members.Findings – Findings revealed that images were mostly intended for analysis, decorations, design, illustrations, image processing, and inspiration. This paper reports on a study conducted to develop a framework for evaluating the retrieval features using an applied ethnographic method. Direct observation, interviews, analysis of notes, and informal social interaction were done with ten users on their application of the retrieval features and their difficulties in searching. Retrieval features evaluated were those offered by 12 database providers. Findings revealed that the proposed framework successfully gathered the data needed. Application of the features was related to users' retrieval tasks, preference and style of searching, and understanding of the features. Difficulties were related to identification of the appropriate search terms. Expected retrieval features were related to search terms, i.e. relevance feedback, list of similar terms, and assigning values to search terms. Applied ethnographic method used in this study revealed that users have a substantial amount of knowledge about the retrieval features, and that their comments were related to their subject background.

The aims of this study were to identify the retrieval features for online databases; difficulties faced by users; and retrieval features expected by users. A total of 25 databases were surveyed and 40 users were interviewed after the training sessions. Common retrieval features included Boolean operators, phrase searching, match of exact words or phrases, field specific and limit fields searches, truncation, and wildcard. Even though features are offered in many systems, their interpretation and implementation are different. Unique features included lateral searching, density and frequency of terms, reference link, and searching via table of content. The expected features included relevance feedback and term weighting other than those already offered by ACM Digital Library and IEEE Xplore. Such expectations were influenced by the users' background in ICT. Difficulties included application of the retrieval features in searching. Database providers must include the expected features, synonyms linked to terms in the thesaurus, and extensive search examples.

This paper investigated the retrieval performance of Quranic texts translation of Pimpinan Ar-Rahman in Jawi Malay (the old version of Malay Language) and Rumi Malay (the new Roman version of Malay Language) with different version of Malay Language and letter scripting considerations. The purpose of this study is to test retrieval performance of Quranic text from various scripts of the same source. Methodology implemented was by using queries formulated from Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) written by Muslim scholars in authenticated printed sources produced in Malaysia. 13 FAQs were selected from Utusan Melayu newspaper for Jawi Malay queries and 13 FAQs from Berita Harian newspaper for Rumi Malay queries. Keyword(s) were derived by researcher from FAQs as queries to represent each FAQs. Matching process was conducted by posting queries into Indri Retrieval. Result from matching process produced results of list of Ayat and these Ayat undergo relevance judgement process that involved three human judges to determine the relevancy of FAQ topic and Ayat, while verifying the accuracy of retrieval. Data analysis that consisted of three measures; precision, recall and overlap discovered competency of Indri for handling multi-script Quranic texts retrieval.

In this era of technology and ICT learners and tutors are moving towards self-learning and self-set goals. Personal Learning Environments (PLE) are systems that enable learners to manage their own learning process for attaining a specific goal. PLEs interconnect and integrate both formal and informal learning with self-regulated learning in tertiary education. Most of the PLEs are adopted at universities for learners to collaborate and share their ideas and content using different tools, communities and services. In this paper, we have created the architecture for a Personal Learning Environment specifically for the Self-help Maqam-based Search System built upon the seven maqams outlined in Al-Ghazali's Minhajul Abidin. This self-help system assesses a person's current state (maqam) of spirituality with an opportunity to learn ways of improving one's spiritual state as defined in Minhajul Abidin. Thus, we developed a pedagogical framework by combining self-regulated learning and metacognitive knowledge first, so that the framework could be used to map the Personal Learning Environment (PLE) into the Self-help Maqam-based Search System mentioned above.

The important of knowledgeable workers (peopleware and heartware) in order to achieve success in knowledge management implementation cannot be doubted. They are the core and backbone to the KM practices in the organization. Therefore, proper plans and strategies should be drawn carefully by the organization to winning the peopleware and heartware prior to the KM implementation. Based on the literature review, this study has highlighted the important of knowledge workers as asset in the organization. Additionally, ideas on how to please this asset to cooperate with the organization to ensure the success of KM practices are given.

This paper examines the performance of Addaall stemmers for Arabic news of al-Jazeera. The morphological variation of Arabic word is a factor that affects Arabic information retrieval performance. Many morphological stemmers were developed to improve Arabic information retrieval such as Buckwalter, Khoja stemmers. Addaall stemmer is among the recent developments pertaining to the enhancement of the effectiveness of Arabic IR. The objective of the paper is to provide an analysis of Addaall's stemmer performance for Arabic information. Furthermore, it sheds some lights on the effectiveness of Addaall in relation to other stemmers. The paper assumes that previous studies did not examine extensively the requirements and limitations of Addaall and its prospects for Arabic IR effectiveness. So far there is no standard stemmer for Arabic IR that can be used and generalized. Therefore, this research will examine and evaluate the retrieval performance of Addaall stemmer using root and light stemming searches. It will use Al-Jazeera news as a test document. The paper concludes that Addaall offers a horizon for further enhancing the effectiveness of Arabic IR.
