The article reports an incident that happened to the author, who is a barber to many noted U.S. political figures, which could have taken his life. His entire lower body was burnt by boiling wax and even doctors had no hope for his survival. It was only the assurance of nurse Svea Nido which made Rothe lead a normal life again. He was in the hospital for 16 months and survived 17 operations.
