Abstract

The development of power grids is hindered by the limited transmission capacity of cable equipment, necessitating the accurate prediction of dynamic ampacity for cable expansion. This study focuses on the 110 kV cable intermediate joint, employing radial and axial inversion techniques for real-time conductor temperature inversion. Utilizing the Prophet time series model, we predict environmental changes and propose a dynamic ampacity evaluation method for cable intermediate joints. Experimental validation confirms the model's accuracy, with prediction errors under 10 K, demonstrating its potential for enhancing cable system reliability and power grid development. Abstract

In order to indirectly calculate the core temperature of a cable joint, an equivalent transient thermal circuit model of single-core cable joint by considering axial heat dissipation is proposed. Firstly, the temperature field of the middle joint of a 110 kV single-core cable is calculated by finite element method. Based on the heat dissipation path of the core, an improved equivalent thermal circuit model is proposed. The axial heat dissipation of the cable joint core is simplified to a thermal resistance and the temperature rise of the cable body core, the temperature calculation of the cable joint transient process is realized. Compared with the results of finite element simulation, the steady-state temperature errors of the thermal circuit model are within 1 °C, while the maximum temperature errors of the transient process shall not exceed 3 °C, which proves the validity of the model. Abstract

In order to precisely ascertain the temperature at the hot spot within the intermediate joint of a three-core cable, this study focused on a 10 kV three-core cable joint as its primary subject. A three-dimensional finite element model of the cable joint was constructed, enabling the calculation of both the steady-state hot spot temperature field distribution and the transient temperature rise curve of the joint. Employing a one-dimensional transient thermal path model for the cable body, a radial inversion model for the cable core temperature was established. Through simulating the transient temperature field of the cable joint under varying currents, a fitting relationship was determined for the axial temperature points of the cable core. Subsequently, an inversion perception model was devised to calculate the hot spot temperature of the cable joint based on temperature measurements at specific points on the outer surface of the cable. Under both continuous and periodic loads, the inversion results revealed a consistent trend in the temperature at the joint crimping point with the finite element calculation outcomes, demonstrating a maximum error of within 3 degrees Celsius. 35. Numerical Simulation of Streamer Discharge Using Physics-Informed Neural Networks

Abstract

The streamer discharge physical process can be described by the coupled Poisson’s equation and the convection–diffusion equation. It is a multi-physical field problem involving electromagnetism and hydrodynamics. We propose a streamer discharge model based on physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) to improve the computational efficiency regarding the classical approach. Poisson’s equation and the convection–diffusion equation are trained to generate sufficient data and construct a deep operator network (DeepONet). The performance of the PINN, in terms of accuracy, is analyzed by applying it to different datasets (electron density and potential distribution) and comparing to a reference solution (spatial evolution of electrons). The simulation results show that the neural network (NN) has high accuracy in learning two types of equations.

Abstract

The trip mechanism is a weakness in circuit breakers. Traditional fault identification based on the coil current is difficult to report early mechanical defects such as coil‐plunger jam. Here, the vibration signal during the trip process was extracted. Based on the coil current signal and vibration signal, the characteristics of the trip mechanism are analyzed. The phase space reconstruction (PSR) method is used to extract features from the vibration signal. Combined with the features from the coil current waveform, the feature set representing the health condition of the trip mechanism is proposed. The fault simulation tests are carried out and the variation of current vibration characteristics under fault conditions is studied. The fault identification model based on a support vector machine (SVM) is proposed and compared with the identification results when features are extracted from a single signal. When the power supply voltage is dispersed, the prediction accuracy of fault identification is 83.3% considering only the features of the current waveform or vibration signal. And the identification accuracy rises to 96.7% while using the feature set of current and vibration signals.
