- Abstract
Trabajo final presentado por Iris Rubio Polán para el grado de Física de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB), realizado bajo la dirección del Dr. Marcos Portabella del Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM-CSIC).-- 5 pages, 6 figures, This business internship project aims to get a general idea of how scatterometers, i.e., spaceborne real aperture radars that provide sea-surface wind information, work. Using a wind divergence calculation Matlab code, a quality flag control option has been optimized and wind divergence plots and probability distribution functions have been obtained. Moreover, the code has been adapted to ingest scatterometer data from different systems. The results show that in the time period under study, the wind divergence distributions depend on the data sources, the regions, and the quality flags used. Moreover, the rain-induces dynamics appears to be well resolved by scatterometers. Overall, the work has been satisfactory, improving and optimizing the code while acquiring experience on research work at the Institute of Marine Sciences
