Abstract Background Although the inherited risk factors associated with fatty liver disease are well understood, little is known about the genetic background of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and its related health impacts. Compared to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), MASLD presents significantly distinct diagnostic criteria, and epidemiological and clinical features, but the related genetic variants are yet to be investigated. Therefore, we conducted this study to assess the genetic background of MASLD and interactions between MASLD-related genetic variants and metabolism-related outcomes. Methods Participants from the UK Biobank were grouped into discovery and replication cohorts for an MASLD genome-wide association study (GWAS), and base and target cohorts for polygenic risk score (PRS) analysis. Autosomal genetic variants associated with NAFLD were compared with the MASLD GWAS results. Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression analyses were used to assess associations between MASLD and metabolism-related outcomes. Results Sixteen single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were identified at genome-wide significance levels for MASLD and duplicated in the replication cohort. Differences were found after comparing these SNPs with the results of NAFLD-related genetic variants. MASLD cases with high PRS had a multivariate-adjusted hazard ratio of 3.15 (95% confidence interval, 2.54–3.90) for severe liver disease (SLD), and 2.81 (2.60–3.03) for type 2 diabetes mellitus. The high PRS amplified the impact of MASLD on SLD and extrahepatic outcomes. Conclusions High PRS of MASLD GWAS amplified the impact of MASLD on SLD and metabolism-related outcomes, thereby refining the process of identification of individuals at high risk of MASLD. Supplementation of this process with relevant genetic backgrounds may lead to more effective MASLD prevention and management.

Abstract Hyperuricemia (HUA) has emerged as the second most prevalent metabolic disorder characterized by prolonged and asymptomatic period, triggering gout and metabolism‐related outcomes. Early detection and prognosis prediction for HUA and gout are crucial for pre‐emptive interventions. Integrating genetic and clinical data from 421287 UK Biobank and 8900 Nanfang Hospital participants, a stacked multimodal machine learning model is developed and validated to synthesize its probabilities as an in‐silico quantitative marker for hyperuricemia (ISHUA). The model demonstrates satisfactory performance in detecting HUA, exhibiting area under the curves (AUCs) of 0.859, 0.836, and 0.779 within the train, internal, and external test sets, respectively. ISHUA is significantly associated with gout and metabolism‐related outcomes, effectively classifying individuals into low‐ and high‐risk groups for gout in the train (AUC, 0.815) and internal test (AUC, 0.814) sets. The high‐risk group shows increased susceptibility to metabolism‐related outcomes, and participants with intermediate or favorable lifestyle profiles have hazard ratios of 0.75 and 0.53 for gout compared with those with unfavorable lifestyles. Similar trends are observed for other metabolism‐related outcomes. The multimodal machine learning‐based ISHUA marker enables personalized risk stratification for gout and metabolism‐related outcomes, and it is unveiled that lifestyle changes can ameliorate these outcomes within high‐risk group, providing guidance for preventive interventions.

Rice (Oryza sativa L.), a globally staple food crop, frequently encounters growth, developmental, and yield limitations due to phosphate deficiency. LOW PHOSPHATE ROOT1/2 (LPR1/2) are essential genes in plants that regulate primary root growth and respond to local phosphate deficiency signals under low phosphate stress. In rice, five LPR genes, designated OsLPR1–OsLPR5 based on their sequence identity with AtLPR1, have been identified. OsLPR3 and OsLPR5 are specifically expressed in roots and induced by phosphate deficiency, contributing to rice growth, development, and the maintenance of phosphorus homeostasis under low phosphate stress. In contrast, OsLPR2 is uniquely expressed in shoots, suggesting it may have distinct functions compared with other family members. This study employed Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR)-associated protein 9 (CRISPR/Cas9) gene editing technology to generate oslpr2 mutant transgenic lines and subsequently investigated the effect of OsLPR2 gene knockout on rice growth, phosphate utilization, and salt stress tolerance in the seedling stage, as well as the effect of OsLPR2 gene knockout on rice development and agronomic traits in the maturation stage. The results indicated that the knockout of OsLPR2 did not significantly impact rice seedling growth or phosphate utilization, which contrasts significantly with its homologous genes, OsLPR3 and OsLPR5. However, the mutation influenced various agronomic traits at maturity, including plant height, tiller number, and seed setting rate. Moreover, the OsLPR2 mutation conferred enhanced salt stress tolerance in rice. These findings underscore the distinct roles of OsLPR2 compared with other homologous genes, establishing a foundation for further investigation into the function of the OsLPR family and the functional differentiation among its members.

Fructose-1, 6-bisphosphate aldolase (FBA) plays vital roles in plant growth, development, and response to abiotic stress. However, genome-wide identification and structural characterization of the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) FBA gene family has not been systematically analyzed. In this study, we identified nine StFBA gene members in potato, with six StFBA genes localized in the chloroplast and three in the cytoplasm. The analysis of gene structures, protein structures, and phylogenetic relationships indicated that StFBA genes were divided into Class I and II, which exhibited significant differences in structure and function. Synteny analysis revealed that segmental duplication events promoted the expansion of the StFBA gene family. Promoter analysis showed that most StFBA genes contained cis-regulatory elements associated with light and stress responses. Expression analysis showed that StFBA3, StFBA8, and StFBA9 showing significantly higher expression levels in leaf, stolon, and tuber under blue light, indicating that these genes may improve photosynthesis and play an important function in regulating the induction and expansion of microtubers. Expression levels of the StFBA genes were influenced by drought and salt stress, indicating that they played important roles in abiotic stress. This work offers a theoretical foundation for in-depth understanding of the evolution and function of StFBA genes, as well as providing the basis for the genetic improvement of potatoes.

The ALOG (Arabidopsis LSH1 and Oryza G1) family proteins, namely, DUF640 domain-containing proteins, have been reported to function as transcription factors in various plants. However, the understanding of the response and function of ALOG family genes during reproductive development and under abiotic stress is still largely limited. In this study, we comprehensively analyzed the structural characteristics of ALOG family proteins and their expression profiles during inflorescence development and under abiotic stress in rice. The results showed that OsG1/OsG1L1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9 all had four conserved helical structures and an inserted Zinc-Ribbon (ZnR), the other four proteins OsG1L10/11/12/13 lacked complete Helix-1 and Helix-2. In the ALOG gene promoters, there were abundant cis-acting elements, including ABA, MeJA, and drought-responsive elements. Most ALOG genes show a decrease in expression levels within 24 h under ABA and drought treatments, while OsG1L2 expression levels show an upregulated trend under ABA and drought treatments. The expression analysis at different stages of inflorescence development indicated that OsG1L1/2/3/8/11 were mainly expressed in the P1 stage; in the P4 stage, OsG1/OsG1L4/5/9/12 had a higher expression level. These results lay a good foundation for further studying the expression of rice ALOG family genes under abiotic stresses, and provide important experimental support for their functional research.

ABSTRACTThe psychological factors of senior executives have an important impact on the firm’s financial policies. In this paper, we investigate the association between CEO risk-taking entrepreneurial spirit and firm cash holdings, and find that firms with higher CEO risk-taking entrepreneurial spirit have less cash holdings. Further, we find that financing constraints can mitigate the negative association between CEO risk-taking entrepreneurial spirit and firm cash holdings, whereas financing needs enhances the association between them. Mechanism test illustrates that CEO risk-taking entrepreneurial spirit affects firm cash holdings through corporate investment. Finally, the results reveal that CEO risk-taking entrepreneurial spirit not only promotes the value of cash holdings, but also is significantly positively associated with both accounting performance and market performance. Our findings shed lights on the impact of executive psychological factors on financial decisions and have important implications for cash-holding decisions of listed firms.

Improving agricultural green total factor productivity (AGTFP) is the key to achieving sustainable agricultural development and empowering agricultural modernization. Based on the panel data of 30 provincial levels in China from 2011 to 2021, AGTFP is measured using the non-expected MinDS super-efficiency—MetaFrontier Malmquist model, and the impact of environmental regulation (ER) and digital finance on AGTFP is analyzed using the spatial Durbin model (SDM). The results show the following: (1) ER can increase local AGTFP and has a positive spatial spillover effect. Command-based ER has the highest impact on AGTFP, followed by market-incentive and public-voluntary ER. (2) Digital finance has a direct promotional effect on local AGTFP, while it has an inhibitory effect on AGTFP in neighboring regions due to the siphon effect. (3) Digital finance is an important regulatory variable affecting AGTFP concerning command-based, market-incentive and public-voluntary ER. Digital finance plays a significantly moderating role in the effectiveness of the three ERs on AGTFP, with the market-incentive ER being the highest in eastern China. Nonetheless, digital finance has a significantly moderating effect on the effectiveness of command-based and public-voluntary ER on AGTFP, with command-based ER being higher in central China. Meanwhile, digital finance only plays a significantly moderating role in the effectiveness of command-based environment regulation on AGTFP in western China. This study provides valuable reference for policymakers concerning agriculture green production in varied regions.

The selective cleavage of inert C(sp3)-C(sp3) bonds and their subsequent functionalization is an important goal in synthetic organic chemistry. Here, the authors developed consecutive C–C bond cleavage from stable trisubstituted acids via photocatalysis and copper catalysis.

Panicle type is one of the important factors affecting rice (Oryza sativa L.) yield, and the identification of regulatory genes in panicle development can provide significant insights into the molecular network involved. This study identified a large and dense panicle 1 (ldp1) mutant produced from the Wuyunjing 7 (WYJ7) genotype, which displayed significant relative increases in panicle length, number of primary and secondary branches, number of grains per panicle, grain width, and grain yield per plant. Scanning electron microscopy results showed that the shoot apical meristem (SAM) of ldp1 was relatively larger at the bract stage (BM), with a significantly increased number of primary (PBM) and secondary branch (SBM) meristematic centers, indicating that the ldp1 mutation affects early stages in SAM development Comparative RNA-Seq analysis of meristem tissues from WYJ7 and ldp1 at the BM, PBM, and SBM developmental stages indicated that the number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were highest (1407) during the BM stage. Weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) revealed that genes in one module (turquoise) are associated with the ldp1 phenotype and highly expressed during the BM stage, suggesting their roles in the identity transition and branch differentiation stages of rice inflorescences. Hub genes involved in auxin synthesis and transport pathways, such as OsAUX1, OsAUX4, and OsSAUR25, were identified. Moreover, GO and KEGG analysis of the DEGs in the turquoise module and the 1407 DEGs in the BM stage revealed that a majority of genes involved in tryptophan metabolism and auxin signaling pathway were differentially expressed between WYJ and ldp1. The genetic analysis indicated that the ldp1 phenotype is controlled by a recessive monogene (LDP1), which was mapped to a region between 16.9 and 18.1 Mb on chromosome seven. This study suggests that the ldp1 mutation may affect the expression of key genes in auxin synthesis and signal transduction, enhance the size of SAM, and thus affect panicle development. This study provides insights into the molecular regulatory network underlying rice panicle morphogenesis and lays an important foundation for further understanding the function and molecular mechanism of LDP1 during panicle development.

Introduction: Promoting low-carbon development in agriculture is crucial for achieving agricultural modernization. One practical issue worth studying is whether outsourcing services can encourage farmers to adopt low-carbon production practices. This study analyzes the impact of pesticide outsourcing services on the low-carbon production behavior of farmers to provide China with practical recommendations.Methods: This empirical study investigates the impact of pesticide outsourcing services on farmers’ low-carbon production behavior using survey data from 450 rice growers in the Ningxia and Shaanxi provinces by endogenous switching regressions (ESR) model.Results and Discussion: Results showed that 1) outsourcing services have a significant negative impact on farmers’ manual weeding behavior, leading to a reduction in the frequency of manual weeding; 2) outsourcing services have a significant positive impact on farmers’ herbicide application behavior. In other words, participation in outsourcing leads to excessive pesticide application; 3) outsourcing services do not support a green and low-carbon production model where manual weeding replaces herbicide application. Due to the imperfect development of the outsourcing market in China, especially in the northwest region, the construction of outsourcing service system is lagging, and it is difficult for non-professional outsourcing services to play a driving role in green and low-carbon production for farmers, who will often choose the lower-cost mechanical application for maximum profit. The policy implication of this study is the need for a comprehensive and objective understanding of the impact and role of pesticide outsourcing services on farmers’ low-carbon production behavior. This understanding can help improve the market, policy, and other external environments for farmers to participate in outsourcing, ultimately promoting the sustainable development of green and low-carbon agriculture. This paper adds to the discussion of pesticide outsourcing services and farmers’ low-carbon production by drawing different conclusions from previous studies, providing a fresh foundation for policy-making.

Introduction: As an exclusive group resulting from land requisition and demolition during the process of urbanization, the education of children belonging to land-loss farming families has received worldwide attention. However, few studies have explored the mechanisms and effects of land loss on adolescents’ academic performance.Method: Using 5,133 family samples in 2014 and 3,810 family samples in 2018 from China Family Panel Studies (CFPS), this study employed the PSM-DID and KHB models to explore the impact of land loss on the academic performance of rural adolescents.Results: The findings indicate that compared to non-land-loss families, the academic performances of adolescents in the land-loss families were lower. Additionally, land-loss families have a lower awareness of educational value. This verifies the logical mechanism of “land loss→ family education cognition→ family human capital investment→ adolescents’ academic performance.” Gender differences exist in the negative effects of land loss on adolescents’ academic performance; land loss has a greater impact on boys.Discussion: The government should strengthen the training system for land-loss farmers, improve the social security system and state of female-led families, and focus on boys affected by land loss.

Brassinazole resistant (BZR) genes act downstream of the brassinosteroid signaling pathway regulating plant growth and development and participating in plant stress responses. However, the BZR gene family has not systematically been characterized in potato. We identified eight BZR genes in Solanum tuberosum, which were distributed among seven chromosomes unequally and were classified into three subgroups. Potato and tomato BZR proteins were shown to be closely related with high levels of similarity. The BZR gene family members in each subgroup contained similar conserved motifs. StBZR genes exhibited tissue-specific expression patterns, suggesting their functional differentiation during evolution. StBZR4, StBZR7, and StBZR8 were highly expressed under white light in microtubers. StBZR1 showed a progressive up-regulation from 0 to 6 h and a progressive down-regulation from 6 to 24 h after drought and salt stress. StBZR1, StBZR2, StBZR4, StBZR5, StBZR6, StBZR7 and StBZR8 were significantly induced from 0 to 3 h under BR treatment. This implied StBZR genes are involved in phytohormone and stress response signaling pathways. Our results provide a theoretical basis for understanding the functional mechanisms of BZR genes in potato.

Abstract Background A lack of sleep or disorder in sleep–wake cycles has been associated with metabolic impairments. However, few studies have investigated the association between daytime napping duration and the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. This study aimed to investigate the association of daytime napping duration with the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in a Chinese population. Methods This cross-sectional study analyzed data from the Health Management Center of Nanfang Hospital, Guangdong Province. A total of 3363 participants aged 20–79 years were recruited and admitted from January 20, 2018, to October 16, 2020. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease was diagnosed using abdominal ultrasonography. The outcome was the association between daytime sleep duration and the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Results Compared with non-nappers, long daytime nappers (≥ 60 min) were associated with a higher risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in the crude model (odds ratio 2.138; 95% confidence interval 1.88–2.61, P

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is a major foodborne pathogen. Rapid and specific detection is crucial for controlling staphylococcal food poisoning. This study reported a Staphylococcus phage named LSA2302 showing great potential for applications in the rapid detection of S. aureus. Its biological characteristics were identified, including growth properties and stability under different pH and temperature conditions. The genomic analysis revealed that the phage has no genes associated with pathogenicity or drug resistance. Then, the phage-functionalized magnetic beads (pMB), serving as a biological recognition element, were integrated with ATP bioluminescence assays to establish a biosensing method for S. aureus detection. The pMB enrichment brought high specificity and a tenfold increase in analytical sensitivity during detection. The whole detection process could be completed within 30 min, with a broad linear range of 1 × 104 to 1 × 108 CFU/mL and a limit of detection (LOD) of 2.43 × 103 CFU/mL. After a 2 h pre-cultivation, this method is capable of detecting bacteria as low as 1 CFU/mL. The recoveries of S. aureus in spiked skim milk and chicken samples were 81.07% to 99.17% and 86.98% to 104.62%, respectively. Our results indicated that phage-based biosensing can contribute to the detection of target pathogens in foods.

Due to the ionic nature of its mechanism, the Mannich reaction can only use non-enolizable aldehydes as substrates. Here, the authors expand the scope of the classical Mannich reaction to enolizable aldehydes by employing a radical process resulting in a streamlined synthesis of γ-amino-carbonyl compounds.

The aim of the present paper is to determine the sex of the individual using three-dimensional geometric and inertial analyses of metatarsal bones. Metatarsals of 60 adult Chinese subjects of both sexes were scanned using Aquilion One 320 Slice CT Scanner. The three-dimensional models of the metatarsals were reconstructed, and thereafter, a novel software using the center of mass set as the origin and the three principal axes of inertia was employed for model alignment. Eight geometric and inertial variables were assessed: the bone length, bone width, bone height, surface-area-to-volume ratio, bone density, and principal moments of inertia around the x, y, and z axes. Furthermore, the discriminant functions were established using stepwise discriminant function analysis. A cross-validation procedure was performed to evaluate the discriminant accuracy of functions. The results indicated that inertial variables exhibit significant sexual dimorphism, especially principal moments of inertia around the z axis. The highest dimorphic values were found in the surface-area-to-volume ratio, principal moments of inertia around the z axis, and bone height. The accuracy rate of the discriminant functions for sex determination ranged from 88.3% to 98.3% (88.3%–98.3% cross-validated). The highest accuracy of function was established based on the third metatarsal bone. This study showed for the first time that the principal moment of inertia of the human bone may be successfully implemented for sex estimation. In conclusion, the sex of the individual can be accurately estimated using a combination of geometric and inertial variables of the metatarsal bones. The accuracy should be further confirmed in a larger sample size and be tested or independently developed for distinct population/age groups before the functions are widely applied in unidentified skeletons in forensic and bioarcheological contexts.

Projections from the anterior and posterior basolateral amygdala (pBLA) to the ventral hippocampus CA1 (vCA1) are heterogenous. Here the authors show that activating the pathway from pBLA to vCA1 calbindin 1 positive neurons has an anxiolytic effect in approach-avoidance tasks in mice.

Abstract Monochromatic light and wide-band white light both affect plant growth and development. However, the different effects between monochromatic light and addition white light to monochromatic light on the formation, growth, and dormancy of microtubers have not been fully explored. Therefore, we evaluated these effects using in vitro potatoes grown under pure blue and red lights and a combination of blue light and red light supplemented with white light, respectively. Current results suggested that light spectra influenced microtuber formation, growth, and dormancy by regulating potato plantlet morphogenesis, affecting the synthesis and transportation of photosynthetic metabolites, and altering the accumulation and distribution of biomass in various plant tissues. Monochromatic lights and the combined spectra had differing effects. For instance, monochromatic red light induced the growth of more microtubers, whereas addition white light to red light decreased number but increased weight of microtubers. Meanwhile, monochromatic blue light facilitated tuber growth, whereas addition white light to blue light decreased microtubers weight but increased microtuber number. In addition, composite lights of addition white light to monochromatic red and blue lights both extended the dormancy period, and monochromatic blue light shortened the dormancy period of microtubers >300 mg. Therefore, in microtuber agricultural production, specific light conditions may be applied at different growth stages of in vitro potatoes to increase the number of effective microtubers (>50 mg) and to satisfy storing requirement of seed microtubers.

Along with the increasingly prominent contradiction between agricultural development and a healthy ecological environment, the adoption of agriculture green production (AGP) methods has become an important measure to reduce excessive pesticide application, avoid ecological environmental pollution and promote sustainable agricultural development. However, few studies have explored the impact of green production behaviors on the revenue effect from the perspective of outsourcing services, and existing studies have not subdivided outsourcing into multiple categories to examine their impact. In this study, the first-hand data of 447 rice farmers in Ningxia and Shaanxi in northwest China were collected. By using the endogenous switching regression model (ESR), we focuses on the influence of rice farmers’ AGP behaviors on their income effect, and analyzed whether outsourcing service categories can promote rice farmers’ AGP behaviors and income. The results showed that outsourcing services significantly promoted AGP behaviors and the income of rice farmers. Specifically, outsourcing pesticide application showed the greatest effect on the reduction of pesticide usage, rice harvesting after a safe interval after pesticide application, and the income of rice farmers; weeding and harvesting outsourcing had less effect. These indicate that outsourcing services can improve environmental and economic benefits by reducing pesticide input costs, to promote rice farmers to engage in AGP behaviors. Moreover, green production behaviors help to increase the income of rice farmers. If rice farmers who have not implemented AGP conduct physical control behaviors, their income will increase by 23.110%; the reduction of pesticide application ranks the second, and their income will increase by 5.970%. The implementation of rice harvesting at the safe intervals after pesticide application had the lowest degree of improvement, and the farmers’ income will increase by 4.505%. The study provides data for promoting outsourcing services and AGP in developing countries. Therefore, the government should further improve outsourcing services and AGP policies to maximize the income of rice farmers in low- and middle-income areas.

Hallux valgus (HV), the bunion of the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ), bothers many adults. No consensus has been reached about the causes of HV, be it a hereditary, or acquired, or multifactorial disease. Nor has agreement been reached using MTPJ angle to assess HV based on X-ray because in most cases the assessment of MTPJ is not reliable as it depends on the posture during scanning. In this study, we assume that HV is predominately acquired and that shoe wearing per se is an important player in HV pathogenesis. To verify our hypothesis, a CT-based finite element (FE) model of the first MTPJ of fossil remains of bear-footed Homo naledi was created and compared to that of five contemporary shoe-wearing wrestlers (10 models from two scans at an interval of about 18 months) because Homo naledi's first MTPJ is an ideal model for non-shoe wearing with parallel sesamoid grooves. We developed the first MTPJ structure transformation method and created MTPJ joint capsule model for both Homo naledi and wrestlers. Constraint on the medial side of the first MTPJ capsule was set to simulate shoe-wearing conditions compared to the lack of medial constraint for barefooted conditions. Analysis of eight FE models of different angles for the first MTPJ of Homo naledi was performed by the first MTPJ transformation method and results showed that stress concentrated on the medial capsule of the first MTPJ in simulated shoe-wearing conditions, even at MTPJ angle of 0°. Increase in the first MTPJ angle further increased stress concentration on the medial side, and stress-growth relationship might reveal the causes of HV. We further developed a method to position the first MTPJ in wrestlers and created CT-based models at two time points. It was evident that the first MTPJ angle increased in all but one athlete, with a maximal increase of 4.03 degrees. This verifies our hypothesis that HV might be developed by wearing shoes. Further longitudinal studies with larger sample sizes are needed to additionally validate our results and determine the magnitude of the effects of shoe wearing on development and progression of HV.

The aim of the present study was to develop a new method to reconstruct damaged metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ) of Homo naledi's fossil and to deepen the understanding of the first metatarsal head (FMH) morphological adaptation in different gait patterns. To this purpose three methods were introduced. The first served to compare the anthropometric linear and volumetric measurements of Homo naledi's MTPJ to that of 10 various athletes. The second was employed to measure curvature diameter in FMH's medial and lateral grooves for sesamoid bones. The third was used to determine the parallelism between medial and lateral FMH grooves. The anthropometric measurements of middle-distance runner to the greatest extent mimicked that of Homo naledi. Thus, it was used to successfully reconstruct the damaged Homo naledi's MTPJ. The highest curvature diameter of medial FMH groove was found in Homo naledi, while in lateral FMH groove it was the highest in volleyball player, suggesting their increased bear loading. The parallelism of medial and lateral FMH grooves was observed only in Homo naledi, while in investigated athletes it was dis-parallel. Athletes' dis-paralleled structures make first MTPJ simple flexion movement a complicated one: not rotating about one axis, but about many, which may result in bringing a negative effect on running. In conclusion, the presented method for the reconstruction of the damaged foot bone paves the way for morphological and structural analysis of modern population and fossil hominins' gait pattern.

The finite element method is playing an increasingly important role in osteoporosis screening. An accurate bone geometric model, a prerequisite for the finite element analysis, is affected by voxels. Isotropic voxel has advantages in three-dimensional reconstruction, but field of view setting usually results in anisotropic voxels. The main goal of this study was to investigate the influence of anisotropic voxel on the accuracy of three-dimensional reconstruction of bone geometric models. Sixty metatarsal bones were scanned twice with an interval of 18 months with different fields of view. We reconstructed these metatarsals and compared them. The results showed that there was no significant difference in volume, surface, length, width and height and two principal moments of inertia, indicating that anisotropic voxel caused by field of view setting has a neglectable effect on the three-dimensional reconstruction of bone geometric models, and that using finite element method based on bone geometric model reconstructed by anisotropic voxel to predict bone strength is reliable.
