With the help of the methodological base of the study (the foundations of probability theory and mathematical statistics), the processing of the experiment conducted at the research object is carried out. This object is the mechanical workshop of CJSC Sibgazstroydetal, which is engaged in providing for the needs of the gas, oil and energy industries. In this paper, the issue of determining the conductive low-frequency electromagnetic interference (EMI) by the coefficient of the n-th harmonic component of the voltage (K U(n) ) is studied in detail. Harmonic distortion is a constant phenomenon in electrical networks. Higher harmonics have a negative impact on the electrical network, including on electric consumers (reduced service life, productivity, etc.). The problem of non-sinusoidal voltages has been studied for quite a long time and the results obtained during these studies confirm the presence of a large number of damages to electricity consumers who are in operation. The probability of occurrence of conductive low-frequency EMF by K U(n) at the research site is determined. The paper analyzes the results obtained with the help of the conducted research. According to the results of the analysis, the relevant conclusions are presented.

Abstract Background Climate change and anthropogenic activities intensify salinity stress impacting significantly on plant productivity and biodiversity in agroecosystems. There are naturally salt-tolerant plants (halophytes) that can grow and withstand such harsh conditions. Halophytes have evolved along with their associated microbiota to adapt to hypersaline environments. Identifying shared microbial taxa between halophyte species has rarely been investigated. We performed a comprehensive meta-analysis using the published bacterial 16S rRNA gene sequence datasets to untangle the rhizosphere microbiota structure of two halophyte groups and non-halophytes. We aimed for the identification of marker taxa of plants being adapted to a high salinity using three independent approaches. Results Fifteen studies met the selection criteria for downstream analysis, consisting of 40 plants representing diverse halophyte and non-halophyte species. Microbiome structural analysis revealed distinct compositions for halophytes that face high salt concentrations in their rhizosphere compared to halophytes grown at low salt concentrations or from non-halophytes. For halophytes grown at high salt concentrations, we discovered three bacterial genera that were independently detected through the analysis of the core microbiome, key hub taxa by network analysis and random forest analysis. These genera were Thalassospira, Erythrobacter, and Marinobacter. Conclusions Our meta-analysis revealed that salinity level is a critical factor in affecting the rhizosphere microbiome assembly of plants. Detecting marker taxa across high-halophytes may help to select Bacteria that might improve the salt tolerance of non-halophytic plants.

This second special issue is an expression of what ten years ago nobody would have thought being possible: Soils have become what they deserve to be, a relevant topic on the global, regional, and national agendas of sustainability policies. Soils are now understood as a core precondition to achieve inter alia climate neutrality, an effective climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and food security. The second special issue consists of 17 manuscripts dealing with various aspects of soil governance, from integrated soil and water management to the application of the polluter pays principle in different countries. New national and regional developments in soil legislation are also presented, with examples from China, Germany, India, Malawi, New Zealand, Uzbekistan or Wales, as well as an analysis of soil-related court rulings.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapies have demonstrated significant successes in treating cancer. Currently, there are six approved CAR T cell products available on the market that target different malignancies of the B cell lineage. However, to overcome the limitations of CAR T cell therapies, other immune cells are being investigated for CAR-based cell therapies. CAR natural killer (NK) cells can be applied as allogeneic cell therapy, providing an economical, safe, and efficient alternative to autologous CAR T cells. To improve CAR research and future in-patient monitoring of cell therapeutics, a simple, reliable, and versatile CAR detection reagent is crucial. As most existing CARs contain a single-chain variable fragment (scFv) with either a Whitlow or a G4S linker site, linker-specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) can detect a broad range of CARs. This study demonstrates that these linker-specific mAbs can detect different CAR NK cells in vitro, spiked in whole blood, and within patient-derived tumor spheroids with high specificity and sensitivity, providing an effective and almost universal alternative for scFv-based CAR detection. Additionally, we confirm that linker-specific antibodies can be used for functional testing and enrichment of CAR NK cells, thereby providing a useful research tool to fast-track the development of novel CAR-based therapies.

Abstract Vaccine priming immunogens that activate germline precursors for broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) have promise for development of precision vaccines against major human pathogens. In a clinical trial of the eOD-GT8 60mer germline-targeting immunogen, higher frequencies of vaccine-induced VRC01-class bnAb-precursor B cells were observed in the high dose compared to the low dose group. Through immunoglobulin heavy chain variable (IGHV) genotyping, statistical modeling, quantification of IGHV1-2 allele usage and B cell frequencies in the naive repertoire for each trial participant, and antibody affinity analyses, we found that the difference between dose groups in VRC01-class response frequency was best explained by IGHV1-2 genotype rather than dose and was most likely due to differences in IGHV1-2 B cell frequencies for different genotypes. The results demonstrate the need to define population-level immunoglobulin allelic variations when designing germline-targeting immunogens and evaluating them in clinical trials.

Abstract Peatlands in the northern hemisphere are a major carbon storage but face an increased risk of wildfires due to climate change leading to large-scale smoldering fires in boreal and Arctic peatlands. Smoldering fires release organic carbon rich particulate matter, which influences the earth’s radiative balance and can cause adverse health effects for humans. Here we characterize the molecular composition of biomass burning particulate matter generated by laboratory burning experiments of peat by electrospray ionization 21 T Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry, revealing a highly complex mixture of aromatic and aliphatic organic compounds with abundant heteroatoms including oxygen, sulfur and up to five nitrogen atoms. Primary organosulfur species are identified in the emissions of peat-smoldering, in part also containing nitrogen. Differences are observed when comparing structural motifs as well as the chemical composition of boreal and Arctic peat burning emissions, with the latter containing compounds with more nitrogen and sulfur.

The Blackfeet Nation in northwestern Montana, United States, is implementing its Agriculture Resource Management Plan (ARMP), an Indigenous-led, sustainable agriculture plan prioritizing economic development for Indigenous producers, intergenerational health and well-being of Amskapi Piikani Blackfeet people, and ecological and cultural sensitivities within this sovereign nation and its traditional territories. Since the passage of the American Indian Agricultural Resource Management Act of 1993, only three Tribes have drafted and finalized Agricultural Resource Management Plans (ARMPs). The Blackfeet ARMP is now being held up as a national model of Tribal sovereignty. “Blackfeet Innovation Pathways to Food Sovereignty,” an Indigenous-led research project, emerged from the Blackfeet Nation’s community-based strategic planning process identifying gaps, systemic barriers and impactful solutions for achieving Blackfeet food sovereignty through the implementation of the Blackfeet Nation ARMP, along with research influenced by the ARMP. This paper provides a community case study of the ongoing process and offers a translational model of sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty within Indigenous lands to improve the economic futures of producers and their families, as well as health outcomes for Native communities.

The impact of Step 1 becoming pass-fail is yet to be known. Many believe the value and power of scholarly activity will increase across specialties, but opportunities for such activities differ across universities and even between campuses. At the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership, a regional campus of the Medical College of Georgia, we hoped to better understand our students' current scholarly activity production and their reasoning behind pursuing these activities. Student surveys indicated that the three highest specialties of interest were primary care-based; students, on average, had one or two poster presentations and one or fewer manuscripts published in medical school thus far. The top reasons to pursue research were the transition of Step 1 to pass-fail, interest in a competitive specialty, and the encouragement of mentors. We hope by understanding our current medical students, we can further cater to their needs through the creation and implementation of new scholarly activity opportunity initiatives.

BACKGROUND: Methods of sustaining the deimplementation of overused medical practices (i.e., practices not supported by evidence) are understudied. In pediatric hospital medicine, continuous pulse oximetry monitoring of children with the common viral respiratory illness bronchiolitis is recommended only under specific circumstances. Three national guidelines discourage its use for children who are not receiving supplemental oxygen, but guideline-discordant practice (i.e., overuse) remains prevalent. A 6-hospital pilot of educational outreach with audit and feedback resulted in immediate reductions in overuse; however, the best strategies to optimize sustainment of deimplementation success are unknown. METHODS: The Eliminating Monitor Overuse (EMO) trial will compare two deimplementation strategies in a hybrid type III effectiveness-deimplementation trial. This longitudinal cluster-randomized design will be conducted in Pediatric Research in Inpatient Settings (PRIS) Network hospitals and will include baseline measurement, active deimplementation, and sustainment phases. After a baseline measurement period, 16-19 hospitals will be randomized to a deimplementation strategy that targets unlearning (educational outreach with audit and feedback), and the other 16-19 will be randomized to a strategy that targets unlearning and substitution (adding an EHR-integrated clinical pathway decision support tool). The primary outcome is the sustainment of deimplementation in bronchiolitis patients who are not receiving any supplemental oxygen, analyzed as a longitudinal difference-in-differences comparison of overuse rates across study arms. Secondary outcomes include equity of deimplementation and the fidelity to, and cost of, each deimplementation strategy. To understand how the deimplementation strategies work, we will test hypothesized mechanisms of routinization (clinicians developing new routines supporting practice change) and institutionalization (embedding of practice change into existing organizational systems). DISCUSSION: The EMO trial will advance the science of deimplementation by providing new insights into the processes, mechanisms, costs, and likelihood of sustained practice change using rigorously designed deimplementation strategies. Depression affects several aspects of life, including socioeconomic status, relationships, behavior, emotions, and overall health. The etiology of depression is complex and influenced by various factors, with obesity emerging as a significant contributor. This narrative review aims to investigate the factors associated with the development of depression, with a particular focus on the role of obesity. The literature search was conducted on PubMed, Embase, and PsycINFO from May to July 2024. The review highlights the impact of environmental and socioeconomic conditions; lifestyle choices, including physical activity and dietary habits; stress; traumatic experiences; neurotransmitter imbalances; medical and psychological conditions; hormone fluctuations; and epigenetic factors on depression. A key emphasis is placed on the inflammatory processes linked to obesity, which may drive the bidirectional relationship between obesity and depression. The findings suggest that obesity is associated with an increased risk of depression, potentially due to chronic inflammation, neurochemical dysregulation, and the emotional and social challenges related to weight stigma and obesity management. Understanding these interconnected factors is important for developing targeted interventions to address both obesity and depression, leading to improved quality of life for those affected.

Food selectivity affects up to 72% and 45% of individuals with and without disabilities, respectively, and there is a need for interventions that rely on positive, unrestrictive strategies. We evaluated an assessment and treatment package for food selectivity for young children with developmental disabilities that prioritized caregiver collaboration, client autonomy, and did not rely on restrictive procedures (e.g. escape extinction). The process involved: (a) collaborating with caregivers on the selection of foods and design of the children's functional analyses; (b) indirectly and directly measuring food preferences prior to treatment; (c) evaluating the sensitivity of mealtime problem behavior to environmental variables through an interview-informed synthesized contingency analysis (IISCA); and (c) incorporating the assessment results into a progressive treatment process consisting of choice-making opportunities and differential reinforcement of successive approximations to consumption. Children also had the ability to opt in and out of treatment sessions. The treatment was effective in increasing consumption of nonpreferred foods and successfully extended to caregivers. Practical implications and directions for future research are discussed.
