In the uncertain and flexible labour market, some people experience indecision in dealing with career choices, despite having career readiness. The present research explored the relationship between career readiness, strategies for coping with career indecision, and well-being. Participants were 529 people aged between 18 and 60 (M = 26.57; SD = 6.83). The survey included: Readiness scale of the Career Transition Inventory, Productive scale and Support Seeking scale of Strategies for coping with career indecision, Flourishing Scale and Satisfaction with life scale. Results show that both productive and support-seeking strategies mediate the association between career readiness and flourishing and between career readiness and life satisfaction. As implications for career guidance, in addition to favouring career readiness, counsellors could promote productive strategies for coping with career indecision--and in some cases, support-seeking strategies--, to help people transform the experience of career indecision from insurmountable obstacles into an opportunity to act towards well-being.

Mass spectrometry (MS) offers high levels of specificity and sensitivity in clinical applications, and we have previously been able to demonstrate that matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) MS is capable of distinguishing two-component cell mixtures at low limits of detection. Ovarian cancer is notoriously difficult to detect due to the lack of diagnostic techniques available to the medical community. By sampling a local microenvironment, such as the vaginal canal and cervix, a MS based method is presented for monitoring disease progression from proximal samples to the diseased tissue. A murine xenograft model of high grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) was used for this study, and vaginal lavages were obtained from mice on a weekly basis throughout disease progression and subjected to our MALDI-TOF MS workflow followed by statistical analyses. Proteins in the 4-20 kDa region of the mass spectrum yielded a fingerprint that we could consistently measure over time that correlated with disease progression. These fingerprints were found to be largely stable across all mice, with the protein fingerprint converging toward the end point of the study. MALDI-TOF MS serves as a unique analytical technique for measuring a sampled vaginal microenvironment in a specific and sensitive manner for the detection of HGSOC in a murine model.

Aeronautical structures can be damaged by objects during operation and maintenance. Indeed, foreign object impacts (FOIs) affect the overall performance of composite structural components. Delamination is the most critical damage mechanism as it is undetectable and develops silently. This phenomenon can be worsened by cyclic loading, as residual strength and stiffness can decrease rapidly, potentially leading to collapse. Unstable delamination growth is critical because it can occur without an increase in the applied load, threatening the integrity of the structure. Predicting this behaviour under fatigue loading is challenging for standard non-linear finite element methods (FEMs), which often face convergence problems when simulating the dynamic nature of delamination growth. This paper presents an efficient alternative methodology for analysing the propagation of delamination under cyclic loading in composite structures, with non-linear static analyses. This new methodology has been shown to be able to correctly account for the decrease in load carrying capacity during growth by performing ad hoc iterations with alternating force and displacement-controlled FEM simulations. To achieve this objective, the Paris law approach has been implemented in the ANSYS FEM code together with an enhanced virtual crack closure technique (VCCT)-based method. Professional development involves facing numerous challenges. It is a complex process, susceptible to personal aspects (e.g., health, happiness, productivity), but also contextual aspects (e.g., recognition of the complexity and unpredictability of the labor market, and of the need to have a positive impact on the community). The life design paradigm views individuals as active agents in their career construction. Although this approach strongly emphasizes individual agency, it also underscores the importance of addressing broader issues related to sustainability. Indeed, career counselling can stimulate actions that favor sustainable development, benefiting society and enhancing the well-being of all people. To this end, we developed a training to stimulate reflections on sustainable careers, sense of community, and sustainable behavior. The study involved 44 university students divided into an experimental (n = 22) and a control group (n = 22). The first group participated in 16 online activities, interspersed with three in-person meetings. After the training, the experimental group exhibited improvements in sustainable careers, sense of community, self-efficacy in implementing sustainable behavior, and the perceived importance of promoting sustainability. These findings suggest that career counselling activities can significantly increase the personal resources of university students, equipping them to contribute to society and promote a sustainable world. The location of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCSs) is gaining significant importance as part of the conversion to a full-electric vehicle fleet. Positive or negative impacts can be generated mainly based on the quality of service offered to customers and operational efficiency, also potentially involving the electrical grid to which the EVCSs are connected. The EVCS location problem requires an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of geographical, market, urban planning, and operational aspects that can lead to several potential alternatives to be evaluated with respect to a defined number of features. This paper discusses the possible use of a multi-criteria decision-making approach, considering the differences between multi-objective decision making (MODM) and multi-attribute decision-making (MADM), to address the EVCS location problem. The conceptual evaluation leads to the conclusion that the MADM approach is more suitable than MODM for the specific problem. The identification of suitable attributes and related features is then carried out based on a systematic literature review. For each attribute, the relative importance of the features is obtained by considering the occurrence and the dedicated weights. The results provide the identification of the most used attributes and the categorization of the selected features to shape the proposed MADM framework for the location of the electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The passive safety in aircraft concerns all measures able to protect the passengers and crew in the event of an accident or emergency. In this context, an important role is played by the design adopted for components inside the passengers' cabin, such as the seats and the interior lining. An effective approach in design of passive safety system is provided by anthropomorphic test devices. In this work, a new design of the interior lining of the fuselage wall has been introduced and its crashworthiness features have been studied through a side impact of an unbelted window‐side passenger. The new proposed interior lining is made with a hybrid sandwich‐based design with a polypropylene honeycomb core able to ensure passive safety for passengers and thermal and acoustic insulation. One of career counseling goals is to understand how to promote the well-being of people facing the unforeseen challenges of the changing world of work. The study investigates the relationship between psychological flexibility, career adaptability and well-being. 498 adult participants reply to Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II, Career Adapt-Abilities Scale, Satisfaction with life scale, and Flourishing Scale. Results show that career adaptability mediates the relationship between psychological flexibility and life satisfaction as well as between psychological flexibility and flourishing, suggesting that career adaptability could be considered a personal resource that enhances the effects of psychological flexibility on hedonic and eudemonic well-being, fostering the ability to adapt to changes in self and situation. The aim of this paper was to validate and examine the psychometric properties of the 9-item Temporal Satisfaction With Life Scale (TSWLS) in the Italian context. Four studies were conducted. In Study 1, we performed an exploratory factor analysis. The 3-factor structure — past life satisfaction, present life satisfaction, and future life satisfaction — was confirmed. In Study 2 we tested the structure of the nine items of the scale, based on confirmatory factor analysis. The 3-factor structure with a high-order factor was the best factorial solution. In Study 3 we tested the concurrent validity of the TSWLS. The scale was significantly and positively related with life satisfaction, flourishing, and positive affects, and negatively related with negative affects. To accurately phenocopy human biology in vitro, researchers have been reducing their dependence on standard, static two-dimensional (2D) cultures and instead are moving towards three-dimensional (3D) and/or multicellular culture techniques. While these culture innovations are becoming more commonplace, there is a growing body of research that illustrates the benefits and even necessity of recapitulating the dynamic flow of nutrients, gas, waste exchange and tissue interactions that occur in vivo. However, cost and engineering complexity are two main factors that hinder the adoption of these technologies and incorporation into standard laboratory workflows. We developed LATTICE, a plug-and-play microfluidic platform able to house up to eight large tissue or organ models that can be cultured individually or in an interconnected fashion. The functionality of the platform to model both healthy and diseased tissue states was demonstrated using 3D cultures of reproductive tissues including murine ovarian tissues and human fallopian tube explants (hFTE). When exogenously exposed to pathological doses of gonadotropins and androgens to mimic the endocrinology of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), subsequent ovarian follicle development, hormone production and ovulation copied key features of this endocrinopathy. Further, hFTE cilia beating decreased significantly only when experiencing continuous media exchanges. We were then able to endogenously recreate this phenotype on the platform by dynamically co-culturing the PCOS ovary and hFTE. LATTICE was designed to be customizable with flexibility in 3D culture formats and can serve as a powerful automated tool to enable the study of tissue and cellular dynamics in health and disease in all fields of research.
