Few studies have evaluated the consequences of the novel human coronavirus that causes the illness currently known as COVID-19, in the pediatric population.Purpose: The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown measures on the emergency department in the pediatric asthmatic patient.Patients and Methods: This retrospective observational study evaluated pediatric patients treated at the Pediatric Emergency Service for wheezing episodes. Changes in the number and characteristics of these patients over the same period of 2019 as compared to 2020 during the month following the alarm declaration (March 14 to April 15) were evaluated.Results: In total, data of 30 asthma patients managed in the period after the declaration of the coronavirus pandemic and of 158 asthma patients managed in the pre-COVID-19 period were included. In 2020, patient visits decreased by 82% in 2019. No statistically significant differences among age, sex, oxygen saturation, fever status, or number of severe bronchospasm episodes were found. Nebulized medication usage was reduced significantly since the alarm declaration. No significant increase in requests for complementary testing in the COVID-19 period was found. No patient requiring hospital admission was found to be PCR SARS-CoV-2 positive. Median time spent in the emergency department decreased from 180 minutes in 2019 to 85 minutes in the COVID-19 era.Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdown measures have led to an extraordinary reduction in emergency visits to the pediatric service. The ongoing pandemic has also led to improvements in the approach to asthma exacerbations and wheezing, to reduce the risk of exposure to the virus, such as increased use of pressurized metered dose inhaler and decreased time in the Emergency Department.Keywords: COVID-19, pandemic, asthma, wheezing, children

12. Detection of Neutralizing Antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 Post-Vaccination in Health Care Workers of a Large Tertiary Hospital in Spain by Using a Rapid Test LFIC and sVNT-ELISA

The presence of neutralizing antibodies (NAbs) against SARS-CoV-2 represent a surrogate marker of immunologic protection in populations at high risk of infection such as healthcare workers caring for hospitalized patients with COVID-19. As recommended by CDC and the European CDC, the use of rapid diagnostic tests during population-based evaluations offers an opportunity to identify individuals with serologic evidence of natural infection or who have undergone vaccination. We carried out a cross-sectional study to assess the presence of neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 among medical providers at an intensive care unit of a large referral hospital in Alicante, Spain. In addition, we tested for the presence of neutralizing antibodies compared to serum of uninfected individuals from a Biobank. We were also interested in evaluating the use of a rapid lateral flow immunochromatography (LFIC) test against a surrogate ELISA viral neutralization test (sVNT). This rapid test demonstrated a specificity of 1.000 95% CI (0.91-1.00) and the sensitivity of 0.987 95% CI (0.93-1.00). The negative predictive value was 95%. After six months, this rapid test demonstrated that those immunized with two doses of BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine, maintained optimal levels of neutralizing antibodies. We concluded that all Health Care Workers develop NAbs and the use of this rapid immunochromatographic test represents a potential tool to be used in population-based studies to detect serological antibody responses to vaccination. Vaccination policies could benefit from this tool to assess additional doses of vaccine or boosters among high-risk populations.

INTRODUCTION: Pregnancy is a transcendent period for the mother and the fetus, characterized by an increase on energy requirements. Mediterranean diet (MD) is considered a healthy eating pattern that can provide the nutritional requirements of pregnancy and protect from the development of obstetric pathologies. OBJECTIVE: To know the relationship between adherence to the MD and its maternal-fetal benefits. METHODOLOGY: A systematic review was conducted by identifying articles in the PubMed and Cochrane databases. The publication date of the studies was between 2010 and 2020, and the inclusion criteria established were that the articles were written in English and Spanish and were accessible in full text. Studies concerning assisted reproduction, gene modulation, conference abstracts, systematic reviews, and pilot studies were excluded. RESULTS: Finally, a total of 14 studies were included in the review. The association between the MD and the reduction of some pathologies of pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes, overweight or obesity, sleep quality, complications of childbirth, urinary tract infections (UTIs), and alterations in fetal growth was demonstrated, as well as perinatal problems, including birth weight, prematurity, gastroschisis, and other childhood problems. CONCLUSION: The MD is an optimal diet to consume during pregnancy.

This Thesis describes the synthesis and characterisation of new alkaline earth metal and aluminium gallyl complexes. Experimental studies were performed to investigate their structure. The reactivity of these species was also studied. Chapter 1 introduces metal-metal bonded complexes containing alkaline earth metals and aluminium and the use of gallium(I) analogues of N-heterocyclic carbenes in the synthesis of heterobimetallic complexes of gallium. Chapter 2 describes the synthesis and reactivity of alkaline earth gallyl complexes supported by beta-diketiminate ligands. Chapter 3 presents the synthesis and reactivity of alkaline earth gallyl complexes supported by the carbazolide ligand CzOx. Chapter 4 describes synthesis of aluminium-gallium bonded complexes supported by amidinate and b-diketiminate ligands and the attempted study of their reactivity. Chapter 5 presents full experimental procedures and characterising data for the new complexes reported.

In computer graphics, various processing operations are applied to 3D triangle meshes and these processes often involve distortions, which affect the visual quality of surface geometry. In this context, perceptual quality assessment of 3D triangle meshes has become a crucial issue. In this paper, we propose a new objective quality metric for assessing the visual difference between a reference mesh and a corresponding distorted mesh. Our analysis indicates that the overall quality of a distorted mesh is sensitive to the distortion distribution. The proposed metric is based on a spatial pooling strategy and statistical descriptors of the distortion distribution. We generate a perceptual distortion map for vertices in the reference mesh while taking into account the visual masking effect of the human visual system. The proposed metric extracts statistical descriptors from the distortion map as the feature vector to represent the overall mesh quality. With the feature vector as input, we adopt a support vector regression model to predict the mesh quality score.We validate the performance of our method with three publicly available databases, and the comparison with state-of-the-art metrics demonstrates the superiority of our method. Experimental results show that our proposed method achieves a high correlation between objective assessment and subjective scores.

43. Evaluation of Mediterranean diet adherence scores: a systematic review

Objective The aim of this review was to evaluate the conceptual suitability, applicability and psychometric properties of scores used internationally to measure adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MD). Design This was a systematic review to identify original articles that examined some aspects of the conceptual suitability, applicability or psychometric properties of the MD adherence score. Electronic searches were carried out on the international databases MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science and EMBASE (from January 1980 to 31 December 2015). Eligibility criteria for selecting studies The study included original articles that examined some aspects of the conceptual suitability, applicability or psychometric properties of the MD adherence score. The studies where MD adherence scores were administered but did not bring forward any evidence about their performance related to conceptual suitability, applicability or psychometric properties were excluded. Data extraction Information relating to the scales was extracted in accordance with the quality criteria defined by the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Medical Outcomes Trust for measurement of health results and the quality criteria recommended by Terwee: (1) conceptual, (2) applicability and (3) psychometric properties. Three authors independently extracted information from eligible studies. Results Twenty-seven studies were identified as meeting the inclusion criteria, yielding 28 MD adherence scores. The results showed that evidence is scarce and that very few scores fulfilled the applicability parameters and psychometric quality. The scores developed by Panagiotakos et al, Buckland et al and Sotos-Prieto et al showed the highest levels of evidence. Conclusions Scores measuring adherence to MD are useful tools for identifying the dietary patterns of a given population. However, further information is required regarding existing scores. In addition, new instruments with greater conceptual and methodological rigour should be developed and evaluated for their psychometric properties.

The ATLAS Eventlndex is the global catalogue of all ATLAS real and simulated events. During the LHC long shutdown between Run 2 (20152018) and Run 3 (2022-2025) all its components were substantially revised and a new system was deployed for the start of Run 3 in Spring 2022. The new core storage system, based on HBase tables with a SQL interface provided by Phoenix, allows much faster data ingestion rates and scales much better than the old one to the data rates expected for the end of Run 3 and beyond. All user interfaces were also revised and a new command-line interface and web services were also deployed. The new system was initially populated with all existing data relative to Run 1 and Run 2 datasets, and then put online to receive Run 3 data in real time. After extensive testing, the old system, which ran in parallel to the new one for a few months, was finally switched off in October 2022. This paper describes the new system, the move of all existing data from the old to the new storage schemas and the operational experience gathered so far.

46. HBase/Phoenix-based Data Collection and Storage for the ATLAS EventIndex

The ATLAS EventIndex is the global catalogue of all ATLAS real and simulated events. During the LHC long shutdown between Run 2 (20152018) and Run 3 (2022-2025) its components were substantially revised, and a new system was deployed for the start of Run 3 in Spring 2022. The new core storage system is based on HBase tables with a Phoenix interface. It allows faster data ingestion rates and scales better than the old system. This paper describes the data collection, the technical design of the core storage, and the properties that make it fast and efficient, namely the compact and optimized design of the events table, which already holds more than 400 billion entries, and all the auxiliary tables, and the EventIndex Supervisor, in charge of orchestrating the whole data collection, now simplified thanks to the Loaders, the Spark jobs that load the data into the new core system. The extractors, in charge of preparing the pieces of data that the loaders will put into the final back-end, have been updated too. The data migration from HDFS to HBase and Phoenix is also described.

The ATLAS Spanish Tier-1 and Tier-2s have more than 18 years of experience in the deployment and development of LHC computing components and their successful operation. The sites are actively participating in, and in some cases coordinating, R&D computing activities in the LHC Run 3 and developing the computing models needed in the HL-LHC period. In this contribution, we present details on the integration of some components, such as HPC computing resources to execute ATLAS simulation workflows; the development of new techniques to improve efficiency in a cost-effective way; and improvements in Data Organization, Management and Access through storage consolidations, the use of data caches, and improving experiment data catalogues, through contributions such as Event Index. The design and deployment of novel analysis facilities using GPUs together with CPUs and techniques like Machine Learning are also presented. ATLAS Tier-1 and Tier-2 sites in Spain, are, and will be, contributing to significant R&D in computing and evaluating different models for improving performance of computing and data storage capacity in the LHC High Luminosity era.

Contaminación y Recuperación de Suelos - Abstract
Se estudia el efecto del tamaño del grano y la interacción de metales pesados y As en la adsorción de contaminantes por residuos de mármol de distinto tamaño. La cantidad de As, Cd y Zn precipitada, aumenta al disminuir el tamaño de grano, mientras que la de Pb es independiente del tamaño grano. La formación de carbonatos de Pb y arseniatos de Pb y As sobre las partículas de mármol indican que el mármol puede inmovilizar As y Pb cuando se presentan juntos en una misma disolución.

A search for supersymmetry (SUSY) in events with large missing transverse momentum, jets, at least one hadronically decaying tau lepton and zero or one additional light leptons (electron/muon), has been performed using 20.3fb−1of proton-proton collision data at √ s= 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess above the Standard Model background expectation is observed in the various signal regions and 95% confidence level upper limits on the visible cross section for new phenomena are set. The results of the analysis are interpreted in several SUSY scenarios, significantly extending previous limits obtained in the same final states. In the framework of minimal gauge-mediated SUSY breaking models, values of the SUSY breaking scale Λ below 63 TeV are excluded, independently of tan β. Exclusion limits are also derived for an mSUGRA/CMSSM model, in both the R-parity-conserving and R-parity-violating case. A further interpretation is presented in a framework of natural gauge mediation, in which the gluino is assumed to be the only light coloured sparticle and gluino masses below 1090 GeV are excluded.

El objetivo del estudio fue describir las características generales de las contusiones cutáneas e identificar factores de riesgo durante el presacrificio porcino. Un total de 134 lotes (3.156 cerdos) fueron estudiados en una planta de sacrificio comercial colombiana. Se usó una regresión logística multivariada para identificar los factores de riesgo previos al sacrificio. Las contusiones cutáneas fueron descritas como una variable de respuesta binomial (1: daño leve, 2: daño severo). La prevalencia de contusiones fue 100%, con un promedio de 6,1 contusiones/canal. Las contusiones cutáneas en forma de coma fueron las más frecuentes (71,8), seguidas por las lineales (14,4%) y las difusas (10,8%). La mezcla de animales no familiares en la granja, la velocidad del camión, las paradas prolongadas durante el transporte y el tiempo de estadía en la planta, estuvieron asociadas con la presencia de contusiones cutáneas (P < 0,01). La inspección de los animales durante el viaje disminuyó la prevalencia de contusiones cutáneas. The goal of this study was to describe the gross characteristics of skin bruises and describe risk factors for pre-slaughter pigs. A total of 134 journeys (3,156 pigs) from a Colombian commercial slaughterhouse were surveyed. A multivariate logistic regression was used to assess the risk factors prior to slaughter. The condition of skin bruises was described as a binomial response (1: slight damage, 2: severe damage). The prevalence of skin bruises was 100.0%, mean 6.1 bruises/carcass. Coma shaped bruises were most frequent (71.8%), followed by linear (14.4%), and diffuse shaped bruises (10.8%). Factors such as mixing unfamiliar pigs in the farm, speed of the truck, prolonged journey stops, and lairage time (P < 0.01) influenced the occurrence of skin bruises. Inspection of the animals during the journey decreased the prevalence of skin bruises.
