One of the best characteristics of our country is its culture, all this beautiful knowledge and traditions that have been transferred for many generations and that give us the essence that we have today. Unfortunately due to the phenomenon of globalization many of these cultures have been deteriorating as human beings choose to adopt other customs that are not typical of our region, to this is also added the mismanagement of funds of our rulers who do not invest in this factor, which is why the project was born Cultural Center "a journey through the Atlantic", located in the city of Barranquilla, capital of the department of Atlántico. It will be located near the well-known shark's fin, a symbolic monument to the city's team. The main objective of the project is to promote the culture of the region, and thus give that first step to encourage again all those customs, this in turn seeks to increase tourism in the area. In addition, employment will be generated since the main building will have spaces for the sale of handicrafts and cultural displays of each municipality, led by its natives. Also, visitors will be able to find tourist plans and the option of being recognized as an ambassador of the Atlantic. This project will promote care for the environment by developing environmental management plans with its own solar panels, an environmental management plan for CDW and solid waste, a reforestation program in surrounding areas, water and energy saving measures, and green areas free for sharing. Finally, although this project is totally innovative for the city of Barranquilla, it has limitations such as the interest of the public due to the fact that nowadays culture has been left in the third plane, thus affecting the search for employment generation in the department of Atlántico. more...

Objective: To analyze the changes in land-use and vegetation (LUV), from 1985 to 2014, in the sites in northern Mexico where 16 pine trees listed in the NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010 are collected. Design/Methodology/Approach: Based on consultations in botanical collections, a georeferenced database of the species under study was developed. A point coverage was created to which LUV vector information from Series I (1985) and VI (2014) was added. Subsequently, LUV class changes were identified during the evaluation period through spatial analysis and geoprocessing. Results: A total of 2,242 georeferenced records of pine species were obtained. Fifty percent of the pine records consulted in collections with Series I information belong to other non-primary forest categories of LUV, while with Series VI information with this condition rose to 58.7%. Consequently, in the study period major changes occurred in the conversion of primary forests to agricultural lands, pasture, secondary vegetation in coniferous and oak forests, and mainly urban areas. Limitations/Implications: The availability of larger-scale cartographic material limited the generation of a risk analysis study about the changes and threats to forest conservation. Findings/Conclusions: The number of collection sites registered in coniferous forest, scrubland, and primary oak forest in Series I —which are now agricultural lands, water bodies, pastures, and urban areas— was significantly lower than in Series VI. - Abstract
Defects in myelin homeostasis have been reported in many neuropathological conditions. Cannabinoid compounds have been shown to efficiently promote myelin regeneration in animal models of demyelination. However, it is still unknown whether this action relies mostly on a cell autonomous effect on oligodendroglial-lineage-NG2 cells. By using conditional genetic mouse models, here we found that cannabinoid CB
1 receptors located on NG2 cells are required for oligodendroglial differentiation and myelin regeneration after demyelination. Selective CB1 receptor gene depletion in NG2 cells following toxin-induced demyelination disrupted oligodendrocyte regeneration and functional remyelination and exacerbated axonal damage. These deficits were rescued by pharmacological blockade of the RhoA/ROCK/Cofilin pathway. Conversely, tetrahydrocannabinol administration promoted oligodendrocyte regeneration and functional remyelination in wild-type but not Ng2-CB1 -deficient mice. Overall, this study identifies CB1 receptors as essential modulators of remyelination and support the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids for promoting remyelination in neurological disorders., Competing Interests: Declaration of Competing Interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (Copyright © 2024 Elsevier Ltd. - Abstract
Introduction: Teledermatology is the practice of dermatology through communication technologies. The aim of this study is to analyze its implementation in a Spanish health area during its first two years., Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study. It included interconsultations between dermatologists and family physicians in the Salamanca Health Area (Spain) after the implementation of the non-face-to-face modality over a period of two consecutive years. A total of 25,424 consultations were performed (20,912 face-to-face and 4,512 non-face-to-face); 1000 were selected by random sampling, half of each modality., Main Measures: referral rate, response time and resolution time, type of pathology, diagnostic concordance, and quality of consultation., Results: The annual referral rate was 42.9/1000 inhabitants (35.3 face-to-face and 7.6 non-face- to-face). The rate of face-to-face referrals was higher in urban areas (37.1) and the rate of non- face-to-face referrals in rural areas (10.4). The response time for non-face-to-face consultations was 2.4 ± 12.7 days and 56 ± 34.8 days for face-to-face consultations (p < 0.001). The resolution rate for non-face-to-face consultations was 44%. Diagnostic concordance, assessed by the kappa index, was 0.527 for face-to-face consultations and 0.564 for non-face-to-face consultations. Greater compliance with the quality criteria in the non-attendance consultations., Conclusions: Teledermatology appears to be an efficient tool in the resolution of dermatological problems, with a rapid, effective, and higher quality response for attention to skin pathologies., Registry: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT05625295.
