Abstract: Abstract We search for the radiative decays D + → γρ + and D + → γK *+ using 20.3 fb −1 of e + e − annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.773 GeV by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits on the branching fractions of D + → γρ + and D + → γK *+ at 90% confidence level are set to be 1.3 × 10 −5 and 1.8 × 10 −5, respectively.

Abstract: Abstract Using 7.33 fb −1 of e + e − collision data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, we search for the radiative decay D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ for the first time. A hint of D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ is observed with a statistical significance of 2.5σ. The branching fraction of D s + → γρ 770 + $$ {D}_s^{+}\to \gamma \rho {(770)}^{+} $$ is measured to be (2.2 ± 0.9stat. ± 0.2syst. ) × 10 −4, corresponding to an upper limit of 6.1 × 10 −4 at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected by the BESIII detector at BEPCII corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 30 fb −1, we measure Born cross sections and effective form factors for the process e + e − → Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ at forty-five center-of-mass energies between 3.51 and 4.95 GeV. The dressed cross section is fitted, assuming a power-law function plus a charmonium(-like) state, i.e., ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), ψ(4230), ψ(4360), ψ(4415) or ψ(4660). No significant charmonium(-like) state decaying into Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ is observed. Upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the product of the branching fraction and the electronic partial width are provided for each decay. In addition, ratios of the Born cross sections and the effective form factors for e + e − → Ξ 0 Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^0{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ and e + e − → Ξ − Ξ ¯ + $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+} $$ are also presented to test isospin symmetry and the vector meson dominance model.

Abstract: Abstract The branching fraction of D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ is measured for the first time using 7.93 fb −1 of e + e − annihilation data collected at the center-of-mass energy s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, and is determined to be B D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e = 0.881 ± 0.017 stat . ± 0.016 syst . % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(0.881\pm {0.017}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.016}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ . Based on an analysis of the D + → K S 0 π 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {K}_S^0{\pi}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ decay dynamics, we observe the S-wave and P-wave components with fractions of f S-wave = (6.13 ± 0.27stat. ± 0.30syst. )% and f K ¯ ∗ 892 0 = 93.88 ± 0.27 stat . ± 0.29 syst . % $$ {f}_{{\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0}=\left(93.88\pm {0.27}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.29}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ , respectively. From these results, we obtain the branching fractions B D + → K S 0 π 0 S − wave e + ν e = 5.41 ± 0.35 stat . ± 0.37 syst . × 10 − 4 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {\left({K}_S^0{\pi}^0\right)}_{S-\textrm{wave}}{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(5.41\pm {0.35}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.37}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\times {10}^{-4} $$ and B D + → K ¯ ∗ 892 0 e + ν e = 4.97 ± 0.11 stat . ± 0.12 syst . % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}^{+}\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e\right)=\left(4.97\pm {0.11}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.12}_{\textrm{syst}.}\right)\% $$ . In addition, the hadronic form-factor ratios of D + → K ¯ ∗ 892 0 e + ν e $$ {D}^{+}\to {\overline{K}}^{\ast }{(892)}^0{e}^{+}{\nu}_e $$ at q 2 = 0, assuming a single-pole dominance parameterization, are determined to be r V = V 0 A 1 0 = 1.43 ± 0.07 stat . ± 0.03 syst . $$ {r}_V=\frac{V(0)}{A_1(0)}=1.43\pm {0.07}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.03}_{\textrm{syst}.} $$ and r 2 = A 2 0 A 1 0 = 0.72 ± 0.06 stat . ± 0.02 syst . $$ {r}_2=\frac{A_2(0)}{A_1(0)}=0.72\pm {0.06}_{\textrm{stat}.}\pm {0.02}_{\textrm{syst}.} $$ .

Abstract: Abstract Using e + e − annihilation data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb −1, collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, we report the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions B Λ c + → p K L 0 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0\right) $$ = (1.67 ± 0.06 ± 0.04)%, B Λ c + → p K L 0 π + π − $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right) $$ = (1.69 ± 0.10 ± 0.05)%, and B Λ c + → p K L 0 π 0 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0{\pi}^0\right) $$ = (2.02 ± 0.13 ± 0.05)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. Combining with the known branching fractions of Λ c + → p K S 0 $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0 $$ , Λ c + → p K S 0 π + π − $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-} $$ , and Λ c + → p K S 0 π 0 $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_S^0{\pi}^0 $$ , we present the first measurements of the K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ - K L 0 $$ {K}_L^0 $$ asymmetries R Λ c + K S , L 0 X = B Λ c + → K S 0 X − B Λ c + → K L 0 X B Λ c + → K S 0 X + B Λ c + → K L 0 X $$ R\left({\Lambda}_c^{+},{K}_{S,L}^0X\right)=\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {K}_S^0X\right)-\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {K}_L^0X\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {K}_S^0X\right)+\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {K}_L^0X\right)} $$ in charmed baryon decays: R Λ c + p K S , L 0 = − 0.025 ± 0.031 $$ R\left({\Lambda}_c^{+},p{K}_{S,L}^0\right)=-0.025\pm 0.031 $$ , R Λ c + p K S , L 0 π + π − = − 0.027 ± 0.048 $$ R\left({\Lambda}_c^{+},p{K}_{S,L}^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right)=-0.027\pm 0.048 $$ and R Λ c + p K S , L 0 π 0 = − 0.015 ± 0.046 $$ R\left({\Lambda}_c^{+},p{K}_{S,L}^0{\pi}^0\right)=-0.015\pm 0.046 $$ . No significant asymmetries with statistical significance are observed.

Abstract: Abstract The processes h c → γP (P = η′, η, π 0) are studied with a sample of (27.12 ± 0.14) × 108 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decay h c → γη is observed for the first time with the significance of 9.0 σ, and the branching fraction is determined to be (3.77 ± 0.55 ± 0.13 ± 0.26) × 10 −4, while B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (h c → γη′) is measured to be (1.40 ± 0.11 ± 0.04 ± 0.10) × 10 −3, where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second systematic, and the third from the branching fraction of ψ(3686) → π 0 h c . The combination of these results allows for a precise determination of R h c = B h c → γη B h c → γ η ′ , $$ {R}_{h_c}=\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma \eta \right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma {\eta}^{\prime}\right)}, $$ which is calculated to be (27.0 ± 4.4 ± 1.0)%. The results are valuable for gaining a deeper understanding of η − η′ mixing, and its manifestation within quantum chromodynamics. No significant signal is found for the decay h c → γπ 0, and an upper limit is placed on its branching fraction of B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (h c → γπ 0) < 5.0 × 10 −5, at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies between 3.510 and 4.914 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 25 fb −1, we measure the Born cross sections for the process e + e − → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ at thirty-five energy points with a partial-reconstruction strategy. By fitting the dressed cross sections of e + e − → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ , evidence for ψ 4160 → K − Ξ ¯ + Λ $$ \psi (4160)\to {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda $$ is found for the first time with a significance of 4.4σ, including systematic uncertainties. No evidence for other possible resonances is found. In addition, the products of electronic partial width and branching fraction for all assumed resonances decaying into K − Ξ ¯ + Λ / Σ 0 $$ {K}^{-}{\overline{\Xi}}^{+}\Lambda /{\Sigma}^0 $$ are determined.

Abstract: Abstract With a sample of (10087 ± 44) × 106 J/ψ events accumulated with the BESIII detector, we analyze the decays η′ → π + π − l + l − (l = e, μ) via the process J/ψ → γη′. The branching fractions are measured to be B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (η′ → π + π − e + e − ) = (2.45 ± 0.02(stat.) ± 0.08(syst.)) × 10 −3 and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (η′ → π + π − μ + μ − ) = (2.16 ± 0.12(stat.) ± 0.06(syst.)) × 10 −5, and the ratio is B η ′ → π + π − e + e − B η ′ → π + π − μ + μ − = 113.4 ± 0.9 stat . ± 3.7 syst . $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)}=113.4\pm 0.9\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 3.7\left(\textrm{syst}.\right) $$ . In addition, by combining the η′ → π + π − e + e − and η′ → π + π − μ + μ − decays, the slope parameter of the electromagnetic transition form factor is measured to be b η′ = 1.30 ± 0.19 (GeV/c 2) −2, which is consistent with previous measurements from BESIII and theoretical predictions from the VMD model. The asymmetry in the angle between the π + π − and l + l − decay planes, which has the potential to reveal the CP-violation originating from an unconventional electric dipole transition, is also investigated. The asymmetry parameters are determined to be A CP η ′ → π + π − e + e − = − 0.21 ± 0.73 stat . ± 0.01 syst . % $$ {\mathcal{A}}_{CP}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)=\left(-0.21\pm 0.73\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{syst}.\right)\right)\% $$ and A CP η ′ → π + π − μ + μ − = 0.62 ± 4.71 stat . ± 0.08 syst . % $$ {\mathcal{A}}_{CP}\left({\eta}^{\prime}\to {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}{\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)=\left(0.62\pm 4.71\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.08\left(\textrm{syst}.\right)\right)\% $$ , implying that no evidence of CP-violation is observed at the present statistics. Finally, an axion-like particle is searched for via the decay η′ → π + π − a, a → e + e − , and upper limits of the branching fractions are presented for the mass assumptions of the axion-like particle in the range of 0 − 500 MeV/c 2.

Abstract: Abstract Using e + e − collision data collected at the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb −1, we determine the absolute branching fractions of fifteen hadronic D s + $$ {D}_s^{+} $$ decays with a double-tag technique. In particular, we make precise measurements of the branching fractions B D s + → K + K − π + = 5.49 ± 0.04 ± 0.07 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}^{+}{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=\left(5.49\pm 0.04\pm 0.07\right)\% $$ , B D s + → K S 0 K + = 1.50 ± 0.01 ± 0.01 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}_S^0{K}^{+}\right)=\left(1.50\pm 0.01\pm 0.01\right)\% $$ and B D s + → K + K − π + π 0 = 5.50 ± 0.05 ± 0.11 % $$ \mathcal{B}\left({D}_s^{+}\to {K}^{+}{K}^{-}{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^0\right)=\left(5.50\pm 0.05\pm 0.11\right)\% $$ , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. The CP asymmetries in these decays are also measured and all are found to be compatible with zero.

Abstract: Abstract Using 24.1 fb −1 of e + e − collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the Born cross sections and effective form factors of the e + e − → Σ + Σ ¯ − $$ {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\to {\Sigma}^{+}{\overline{\Sigma}}^{-} $$ reaction are measured. The measurements are performed at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.510 to 4.951 GeV. No significant evidence for the decay of the charmonium(-like) states, ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), Y(4230), Y(4360), ψ(4415), and Y(4660), into a Σ + Σ ¯ − $$ {\Sigma}^{+}{\overline{\Sigma}}^{-} $$ final state is observed. Consequently, upper limits for the products of the branching fractions and the electronic partial widths at the 90% confidence level are reported for these decays.

Abstract: Abstract Using (27.12 ± 0.14) × 108 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 3.686 GeV, we search for the first time for two nonleptonic hyperon decays that change strangeness by two units, Ω − → Σ0 π − and Ω − → nK − . No significant signal is observed. The upper limits on their decay branching fractions are determined to be B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (Ω − → Σ0 π − ) < 5.4 × 10 −4 and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (Ω − → nK − ) < 2.4 × 10 −4 at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Abstract Using (27.12 ± 0.14) × 108 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the decay of ψ(3686) → Ω − K + Ξ ¯ 0 $$ {\varOmega}^{-}{K}^{+}{\overline{\Xi}}^0 $$ + c.c. is observed for the first time. The branching fraction of this decay is measured to be B ψ 3686 → Ω − K + Ξ ¯ 0 + c . c . $$ {\mathcal{B}}_{\psi (3686)\to {\varOmega}^{-}{K}^{+}{\overline{\Xi}}^0+\textrm{c}.\textrm{c}.} $$ = (2.78 ± 0.40 ± 0.18) × 10 −6, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Possible baryon excited states are searched for in this decay, but no evident intermediate state is observed with the current sample size.

Abstract: Abstract Based on e + e − collision data collected at center-of-mass energies from 2.000 to 3.080 GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, a partial wave analysis is performed for the process e + e − → K S 0 K L 0 $$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ π 0. The results allow the Born cross sections of the process e + e − → K S 0 K L 0 $$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ π 0, as well as its subprocesses e + e − → K ∗(892)0 K ¯ $$ \overline{K} $$ 0 and K 2 ∗ $$ {K}_2^{\ast } $$ (1430)0 K ¯ $$ \overline{K} $$ 0 to be measured. The Born cross sections for e + e − → K S 0 K L 0 $$ {K}_S^0{K}_L^0 $$ π 0 are consistent with previous measurements by BaBar, but with substantially improved precision. The Born cross section lineshape of the process e + e − K ∗(892)0 K ¯ $$ \overline{K} $$ 0 is consistent with a vector meson state around 2.2 GeV with a significance of 3.2σ. A Breit-Wigner fit determines its mass as M Y = (2164.7 ± 9.1 ± 3.1) MeV/c 2 and its width as Γ Y = (32.4 ± 21.0 ± 1.8) MeV.

14. Exploring Effects of Geometry Learning in Authentic Contexts Using Ubiquitous Geometry App

Abstract: Geometry is essential for mathematics learning given that it is strongly related to our surroundings; however, few studies concentrated on using geometry in our daily life, especially using mobile devices with their sensors. Thus, this study proposed one app, Ubiquitous Geometry (UG), and explored its effects on learning angles and polygons in authentic contexts. The experiment was conducted for grade four learners of an elementary school. The control group used protractors and pencil/paper in measuring angles and polygons, whereas the experimental group did measurements with UG. The results showed that in terms of learning achievement, the experimental group outperformed the control group. Further investigation of the relationship between learning behaviors and learning achievement in the experimental group found that both learning effectiveness and quantity of learning, including measuring angles of elevation and depression (MED), note drawing, and comment drawing, have significantly positive correlations with learning achievement. These three behaviors also become significant predictors of learning achievement after multiple regression analysis. Moreover, MED was found to be the most critical factor to affect learning achievement. Additionally, in perception evaluation, participants felt satisfied with UG and authentic measurement activities by which their learning motivation and interests in authentic contexts were indeed stimulated. Hence, we suggested that UG was worth promoted and further investigated its effects on authentic geometry learning.

15. Thinner Central Corneal Thickness is Associated with a Decreased Parapapillary Vessel Density in Normal Tension Glaucoma

Abstract: This retrospective cross-sectional study, which enrolled 124 normal tension glaucoma (NTG) eyes and 68 healthy eyes as the control, determined the association between central corneal thickness (CCT) and ocular parameters in NTG. CCT was measured using the Pentacam® system, optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) was adopted to measure the peripapillary and macular area VDs, and spatial data were based on the Garway–Heath map as illustrated in OCT-A. Univariate and multivariate linear regressions were used to statistically analyze for associations between CCT and other factors. In this study, the mean age was similar for both the NTG and control groups. The mean CCT of the NTG group was significantly thinner than that of the control group (533.97 ± 33.11 µm vs. 546.78 ± 38.21 µm; p = .022). Considering all the factors, CCT negatively correlated with visual field (VF) pattern standard deviation (univariate, p = .045). To analyze structural and functional factors separately, we found a significant positive correlation between CCT and whole disc radial peripapillary capillary VD (VDRPC; multivariate, p = .019). To analyze the relationship between all factors and sectoral changes in VDRPC, a significant positive correlation was observed between CCT and inferior temporal VDRPC (univariate, p = .039) and inferior nasal VDRPC (VDRPC IN; univariate, p = .048). In conclusion, this novel study shows that among NTG participants, a thinner cornea correlated with weaker biomechanical properties susceptible to optic nerve tissue displacement, especially in response to mild transient elevation of IOP, leads to compromised ocular microcirculation.

18. Effect of compliant linkages on suspension under load

Abstract: A numerical investigation is performed into the effects of rigid and compliant suspension linkages, respectively, on: the kinematics and handling performance of a lightweight electric vehicle (EV). CAE models of the front and rear suspension systems are first established based on the measured parameters of the target vehicle. The validity of the CAE models is confirmed by comparing the results obtained for the camber angle and kingpin inclination angle with those obtained mathematically using the vector loop method. CAE models are then performed using half-vehicle and whole-vehicle models. Quarter-vehicle simulations are then performed to compare the solutions obtained from the compliance and rigid-body models for the forces acting on the hardpoints of the two suspension systems under pothole impact conditions. Finally, whole-vehicle simulations are conducted using both the rigid-body model and the compliance model to evaluate the handling performance of the EV in impulse steering tests conducted at vehicle speeds of 40, 60 and 80 km h−1, respectively. In general, the results show that the choice of a rigid-body model or a compliance model has a significant effect on the forces computed at some of the hardpoints in the front and rear suspension systems. Furthermore, the rigid-body model predicts a better vehicle body stability following high-speed turns than the compliance model.

19. Association of Intraocular Pressure and Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Parameters in Early Glaucoma Treatment

Abstract: This prospective study aimed to explore the effect of medical intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction on structural and capillary vessel density (VD) change by optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiography in early glaucoma. Patients with newly diagnosed glaucoma and a follow-up of ≥6 months were enrolled. An ocular examination that included slit-lamp bio-microscopy, pneumatic tonometry, gonioscopy, standard automated perimetry, and OCT angiography was performed. Quantitative OCT angiography parameters were assessed using a linear mixed model that was adjusted for inter-eye correlation. The correlations between IOP changes and OCT angiography parameter changes were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation test. In total, 52 eyes of 36 participants, including 33 glaucoma eyes of 17 participants and 19 healthy eyes of 19 participants served as the case and control groups, respectively. The IOP of the case group decreased from a baseline mean of 20.4 ± 0.8 mmHg to 15.7 ± 0.5 mmHg at 3 months (p < 0.001) and to 16.1 ± 0.5 mmHg at 6 months (p < 0.001). For the subgroup with an IOP reduction of >20%, the deep macula VD was negatively correlated with baseline IOP and significantly decreased at 3 months follow-up. Additionally, change in retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) was positively correlated with a change in IOP at 6 months. In conclusion, the deep-layer macula VD was correlated with baseline IOP and influenced by the reduction in IOP in the short term. The changes in VD revealed the vulnerability of the deep vascular complex. The OCTA parameters provide in vivo monitoring information during medical treatment for early glaucoma.

The charts are presented in a nondimensionalized form to cover a wide range of borehole/rock parameters, which, in combination with the approximate solution for the impermeable borehole drilling problem for small and large times, can be conveniently utilized to gain a rapid estimation of the lower and upper bounds for the desired BDP. It is found that the generated charts can be significantly affected by both the ramp time and the fluid discharge length but only slightly influenced by the poromechanics parameters of the rock formation. The potential applications of the produced engineering charts in the hydraulic fracturing breakdown analysis are shown in clear detail through an example demonstration. The new BDP model is deemed to be advantageous over the previous models, given that it can more realistically reflect the time-dependent nature of the pore pressure at the borehole surface during fluid injection and also that it has the capability of predicting the essential breakdown time. Comparisons have also been conducted for the BDP between the presently proposed chart-based analytical approach and the available experimental data from the laboratory studies of hydraulic fracturing by fluid injection, and the two results show an overall satisfactory agreement.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To characterize changes in the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and peripapillary vessel density (VD) at the site of disc hemorrhage (DH) in nonglaucomatous eyes. MATERIALS AND METHODS:This retrospective cross-sectional study included nonglaucomatous eyes diagnosed with unilateral DH. The change of DH was recorded using disc photography. Both anatomical data and functional visual field (VF) data were collected using optical coherence tomography angiography and Humphrey VF examination. RESULTS:Sixteen patients were included with average follow-up duration of 95 months. Almost half of DH episodes was initially presented at the inferotemporal area of the optic disc. Pigment formation at the previous DH site after resolution was noted in 12.5% of eyes. Sectoral radial peripapillary VD at the DH site was significantly lower in DH eyes than in the control group; however, the sectoral RNFL thickness at the DH site was not significantly decreased. Progression of the VF defect corresponding to the DH site was found in 81.3% of eyes despite regular use of antiglaucoma agents. The mean change in the VF mean deviation was -0.64 dB/year in DH eyes. CONCLUSION:During long follow-up periods, decreased peripapillary VD at the DH site and progression of the VF defect corresponding to the DH site were detected in nonglaucomatous eyes. Retinal pigmentation with an RNFL defect is a clue for DH, although RNFL showed no significant change. Antiglaucoma treatment may not prevent the deterioration of visual function.

Abstract: A novel graphical analysis-based method is proposed for analysing the responses of a cylindrical cavity expanding under undrained conditions in modified Cam Clay soil. The essence of developing such an approach is to decompose and represent the strain increment/rate of a material point graphically into the elastic and plastic components in the deviatoric strain plane. It allows the effective stress path in the deviatoric plane to be readily determined by solving a first-order differential equation with the Lode angle being the single variable. The desired limiting cavity pressure and pore pressure can be equally conveniently evaluated, through basic numerical integrations with respect to the mean effective stress. Some ambiguity is clarified between the generalised (work conjugacy-based) shear strain increments and the corresponding deviatoric invariants of incremental strains. The present graph-based approach is also applicable for the determination of the stress and pore pressure distributions around the cavity. When used for predicting the ultimate cavity/pore pressures, it is computationally advantageous over the existing semi-analytical solutions that involve solving a system of coupled governing differential equations for the effective stress components. It thus may serve potentially as a useful and accurate interpretation of the results of in situ pressuremeter tests on clay soils.

Abstract: STUDY OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to identify prospectively the correlation between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) severity, ocular microcirculation changes, and visual function changes in patients with glaucoma. METHODS: We prospectively enrolled patients with glaucoma who were willing to undergo overnight polysomnography. The enrolled patients were further divided into normal tension glaucoma, high-tension glaucoma, and control. Visual field progression was analyzed using sequential standard automated perimetry. Peripapillary and macular vessel density were assessed through optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-angiography). The associations between polysomnography parameters, OCT-angiography parameters, and visual field progression were analyzed. RESULTS: A total of 22 patients with normal tension glaucoma, 30 patients with high-tension glaucoma, and 24 control patients were enrolled. Through regression analysis, glaucoma was found to be an independent predictor of moderate-to-severe OSA (P = .035); furthermore, moderate-to-severe OSA was significantly associated with visual field progression (P = .008 in the high-tension glaucoma subgroup and P = .008 in the overall glaucoma). Additionally, OSA severity was negatively correlated with the ganglion cell complex thinning rate in the normal tension glaucoma subgroup. CONCLUSIONS: Presence of glaucoma increased the risk of moderate-to-severe OSA compared with the control group. OSA severity was related to visual field deterioration in patients with glaucoma and further associated with structural progression in the normal tension glaucoma subgroup. Abstract: Tanshinones and phenolic acids are the major bioactive constituents in the traditional medicinal crop ; however, transcription factors (TFs) are seldom investigated with regard to their regulation of the biosynthesis of these compounds. Here a complete overview of the APETALA2/ethylene-responsive factor (AP2/ERF) transcription factor family in is provided, including phylogeny, gene structure, conserved motifs, and gene expression profiles of different organs (root, stem, leaf, flower) and root tissues (periderm, phloem, xylem). In total, 170 AP2/ERF genes were identified and divided into five relatively conserved subfamilies, including AP2 (25 genes), DREB (61 genes), ethylene responsive factor (ERF; 79 genes), RAV (4 genes), and Soloist (1 gene). According to the distribution of bioactive constituents and the expression patterns of AP2/ERF genes in different organs and root tissues, the genes related to the biosynthesis of bioactive constituents were selected. On the basis of quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analysis, coexpression analysis, and the prediction of -regulatory elements in the promoters, we propose that two genes ( and ) regulate tanshinone biosynthesis and two genes ( and ) participate in controlling phenolic acid biosynthesis. The genes related to tanshinone biosynthesis belong to the ERF-B3 subgroup. In contrast, the genes predicted to regulate phenolic acid biosynthesis belong to the ERF-B1 and ERF-B4 subgroups. Abstract: Solidification simulations were carried out for casting aluminum alloy A356 using PanSolidification module of Pandat software which enables consideration of back diffusion in the solid during solidification. The casting microstructure features including the solidified phases, phase fractions, and secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS) were simulated. The simulated results explain the experimental observations reasonably well. High throughput calculation was performed to understand the effects of alloy composition and cooling rate on the formation of the intermetallic phases and SDAS in the casting microstructure. The role of Mn in eliminating the formation of detrimental β-AlFeSi phase was also simulated and discussed.

Abstract: Corporate social performance (CSP) is defined in the literature as how corporations establish a link between their social responsibility principles, their responsiveness processes development and the social policy produced. Developed as a concept in the early 1990s, there is little agreement about its practical application in workday activities inside corporations. Reasons for this lack of alignment are not conclusively established, but one possibility is in the need for the adaptation of the concept to the business context. This adaptation inevitably demands an understanding about the subject by those responsible for developing it inside corporations. Seaports present an area of potential application for this adaption because they are infrastructure assets with the power to shape the social arrangement existing in a region. Therefore, investigating how CSP is understood in this sector can contribute to a better relationship between societies and businesses and the development of more effective policies in the social dimension of business. This paper reports the understanding of CSP held by managers of seaports in Brazil. Using content and thematic analysis, this paper analyses data collected via telephone interviews with twenty-eight Brazilian senior seaport managers interpreting the meanings of CSP. The results revealed that managers expressed the importance of CSP for their business strategy by linking it to four core themes under their management control and one theme dependant on regulators' definition. The findings present an adherence between theory and empirical data, suggesting an improvement about the role of social responsibilities for CSP implementation in seaports.

Abstract: The tea geometrid Ectropis grisescens is an important pest of tea plant (Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze). It feeds on the new leaves and tender stems of tea plants, causing serious damage. The green leaf volatile (Z)-3-hexenol (z3HOL) can effectively activate the defense of tea against E. grisescens in the laboratory. In this study, z3HOL was confirmed to activate the tea mitogen-activated protein kinase and jasmonic acid (JA) burst in the laboratory. We investigated effects of z3HOL on the defense responses of tea plants under field conditions. Our results showed that tea plants exposed to z3HOL showed higher levels of JA and polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and emitted increased quantities of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) compared to non-exposed plants. Less E. grisescens larvae were observed in z3HOL-treated plots and less damage was found in z3HOL-treated plants than control. The number of Apanteles sp. and the parasitism of E. grisescens were also enhanced by z3HOL. These findings indicate that synthetic z3HOL can triggers tea defense responses against E. grisescens in the field, and that it could be used as a chemical elicitor to enhance biological control of tea geometrid in the future.

Abstract: Infection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a leading risk factor for chronic liver disease progression, including steatosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. With approximately 3% of the human population infected worldwide, HCV infection remains a global public health challenge. The efficacy of current therapy is still limited in many patients infected with HCV, thus a greater understanding of pathogenesis in HCV infection is desperately needed. Emerging lines of evidence indicate that HCV triggers a wide range of cellular stress responses, including cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress/unfolded protein response (UPR), and autophagy. Also, recent studies suggest that these HCV-induced cellular responses may contribute to chronic liver diseases by modulating cell proliferation, altering lipid metabolism, and potentiating oncogenic pathways. However, the molecular mechanism underlying HCV infection in the pathogenesis of chronic liver diseases still remains to be determined. Here, we review the known stress response activation in HCV infection in vitro and in vivo, and also explore the possible relationship of a variety of cellular responses with the pathogenicity of HCV-associated diseases. Comprehensive knowledge of HCV-mediated disease progression shall shed new insights into the discovery of novel therapeutic targets and the development of new intervention strategy.

Abstract: An analytical model for tidal dynamics has been applied to the Yangtze Estuary for the first time, to describe the tidal propagation in this large and typically branched estuary with three-order branches and four outlets to the sea. This study shows that the analytical model developed for a single-channel estuary can also accurately describe the tidal dynamics in a branched estuary, particularly in the downstream part. Within the same estuary system, the North Branch and the South Branches have a distinct tidal behaviour: the former being amplified demonstrating a marine character and the latter being damped with a riverine character. The satisfactory results for the South Channel and the South Branch using both separate and combined topographies confirm that the branched estuary system functions as an entity. To further test these results, it is suggested to collect more accurate and dense bathymetric and tidal information.

37. Thinner Central Corneal Thickness is Associated with a Decreased Parapapillary Vessel Density in Normal Tension Glaucoma

Abstract: This retrospective cross-sectional study, which enrolled 124 normal tension glaucoma (NTG) eyes and 68 healthy eyes as the control, determined the association between central corneal thickness (CCT) and ocular parameters in NTG. CCT was measured using the Pentacam® system, optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) was adopted to measure the peripapillary and macular area VDs, and spatial data were based on the Garway–Heath map as illustrated in OCT-A. Univariate and multivariate linear regressions were used to statistically analyze for associations between CCT and other factors. In this study, the mean age was similar for both the NTG and control groups. The mean CCT of the NTG group was significantly thinner than that of the control group (533.97 ± 33.11 µm vs. 546.78 ± 38.21 µm; p = .022). Considering all the factors, CCT negatively correlated with visual field (VF) pattern standard deviation (univariate, p = .045). To analyze structural and functional factors separately, we found a significant positive correlation between CCT and whole disc radial peripapillary capillary VD (VDRPC; multivariate, p = .019). To analyze the relationship between all factors and sectoral changes in VDRPC, a significant positive correlation was observed between CCT and inferior temporal VDRPC (univariate, p = .039) and inferior nasal VDRPC (VDRPC IN; univariate, p = .048). In conclusion, this novel study shows that among NTG participants, a thinner cornea correlated with weaker biomechanical properties susceptible to optic nerve tissue displacement, especially in response to mild transient elevation of IOP, leads to compromised ocular microcirculation.

Abstract: The medical records of 13 cases (16 limbs) diagnosed with ulnar club hand in Beijing Jishuitan Hospital between 1966 and 2016 were reviewed. The radiological characteristics of upper limb bones, the shape and function of shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand were recorded. The surgical options include radial wedge osteotomy, ulnar anlage excision, release of syndactyly or narrowed first web, and release of camptodactyly were performed to correct deformities. The subjective evaluation of patients or their families was recorded. Thirteen patients with 16 affected limbs were identified with ulnar club hand. There were 7 males and 6 females with an average age of 12.4 years (range:1-29 years). Among them, 3 cases were bilateral, and 10 cases were unilateral. Six patients had right-side involvement and 4 patients had left-side involvement. Based on Bayne's classification, there were 4 type Ⅰ, 7 type Ⅱ, 4 type Ⅲ, and 1 type Ⅳ. The affected extremity was shorter than the normal limb. In patients with type Ⅰ deformity, the elbows were stable with normal range of motion, the wrists were stable with almost normal range of motion, and the hands were normal. In patients with type Ⅱ deformity, the stability of elbow was variable, and hand deformities were common. In patients with type Ⅲ deformity, the elbows were unstable, and hand deformities were common. The elbow of the patient with type Ⅳ deformity showed radiohumeral synostosis without hand deformity. Surgical treatment was performed on 9 limbs. Mean follow-up was 22.3 months(range: 8-48 months), the subjective evaluation of patients or their families was satisfactory or relatively satisfactory. The surgical treatments of ulnar club hand usually focus on correction of hand and forearm deformities. The surgical result is good.回顾北京积水潭医院于1966年至2016年治疗的13例16侧尺侧拐棒手患者的临床资料。记录患者的上肢骨骼放射学特征，以及肩、肘、前臂、腕及手部的外形与功能情况。通过桡骨截骨矫形、尺骨胚基切除、虎口开大、并指分指植皮，以及屈曲指松解植皮等术式对肢体畸形进行矫正。随访并记录患者或其家长对疗效的主观评价。结果发现，13例尺侧拐棒手患者中，男7例，女6例。双侧3例，右侧6例，左侧4例。平均年龄12.4岁（1~29岁）。根据Bayne分型，Ⅰ型4侧，Ⅱ型7侧，Ⅲ型4侧，Ⅳ型1侧。所有患肢均较正常短小。Ⅰ型畸形患者肘和腕关节稳定，活动度基本正常，手部没有明显畸形。Ⅱ型畸形患者肘关节稳定性差异较大，多伴有手部畸形。Ⅲ型畸形患者肘关节不稳定，多伴有手部畸形。Ⅳ型畸形患者肘关节融合，手部无明显畸形。9侧肢体实施了手术治疗。平均随访22.3个月（8~48个月），患者或家属的主观评价为满意或比较满意。尺侧拐棒手的手术治疗侧重于治疗手及前臂畸形，疗效较好。.

The simulation program gives us output variables such as specific power, compression ratio, compression efficiency, volumetric efficiency, and discharge temperature. 44. Active RNA replication of hepatitis C virus downregulates CD81 expression.

Abstract: So far how hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication modulates subsequent virus growth and propagation still remains largely unknown. Here we determine the impact of HCV replication status on the consequential virus growth by comparing normal and high levels of HCV RNA expression. We first engineered a full-length, HCV genotype 2a JFH1 genome containing a blasticidin-resistant cassette inserted at amino acid residue of 420 in nonstructural (NS) protein 5A, which allowed selection of human hepatoma Huh7 cells stably-expressing HCV. Short-term establishment of HCV stable cells attained a highly-replicating status, judged by higher expressions of viral RNA and protein as well as higher titer of viral infectivity as opposed to cells harboring the same genome without selection. Interestingly, maintenance of highly-replicating HCV stable cells led to decreased susceptibility to HCV pseudotyped particle (HCVpp) infection and downregulated cell surface level of CD81, a critical HCV entry (co)receptor. The decreased CD81 cell surface expression occurred through reduced total expression and cytoplasmic retention of CD81 within an endoplasmic reticulum -associated compartment. Moreover, productive viral RNA replication in cells harboring a JFH1 subgenomic replicon containing a similar blasticidin resistance gene cassette in NS5A and in cells robustly replicating full-length infectious genome also reduced permissiveness to HCVpp infection through decreasing the surface expression of CD81. The downregulation of CD81 surface level in HCV RNA highly-replicating cells thus interfered with reinfection and led to attenuated viral amplification. These findings together indicate that the HCV RNA replication status plays a crucial determinant in HCV growth by modulating the expression and intracellular localization of CD81.

Abstract: Purpose To characterize changes in the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and peripapillary vessel density (VD) at the site of disc hemorrhage (DH) in nonglaucomatous eyes. Materials and methods This retrospective cross-sectional study included nonglaucomatous eyes diagnosed with unilateral DH. The change of DH was recorded using disc photography. Both anatomical data and functional visual field (VF) data were collected using optical coherence tomography angiography and Humphrey VF examination. Results Sixteen patients were included with average follow-up duration of 95 months. Almost half of DH episodes was initially presented at the inferotemporal area of the optic disc. Pigment formation at the previous DH site after resolution was noted in 12.5% of eyes. Sectoral radial peripapillary VD at the DH site was significantly lower in DH eyes than in the control group; however, the sectoral RNFL thickness at the DH site was not significantly decreased. Progression of the VF defect corresponding to the DH site was found in 81.3% of eyes despite regular use of antiglaucoma agents. The mean change in the VF mean deviation was -0.64 dB/year in DH eyes. Conclusion During long follow-up periods, decreased peripapillary VD at the DH site and progression of the VF defect corresponding to the DH site were detected in nonglaucomatous eyes. Retinal pigmentation with an RNFL defect is a clue for DH, although RNFL showed no significant change. Antiglaucoma treatment may not prevent the deterioration of visual function.

Abstract: A 49-year-old woman was admitted to hospital with intermittent dizziness and fatigue for 7 years. The symptoms were aggravated and accompanied by bone pain for more than 4 months. She was referred to our hospital. Laboratory tests and imaging findings suggested that acquired Fanconi Syndrome (FS) was associated with smoldering multiple myeloma (MM). Renal biopsy and electron microscopy confirmed the diagnosis of proximal light chain tubular disease (LCPT). LCPT causes proximal tubular dysfunction, which is characterized by the cytoplasmic crystal deposition usually kappa monoclonal light chain in the proximal tubule. MM with FS and LCPT is less common in clinical practice because it is difficult to diagnose. This is a typical case focusing on the differential diagnosis of monoclonal gammopathy of renal significance(MGRS) such as LCPT and plasma cells diseases.患者女，49岁，临床主要表现为骨痛和蛋白尿。因间歇性头晕、疲倦7年，症状加重并伴骨痛4个月余入院。患者在当地医院被诊断为贫血，并疑诊多发性骨髓瘤（MM）。实验室和影像学检查结果提示为获得性范科尼综合征（FS）伴有冒烟型多发性骨髓瘤（SMM），经肾活检、电子显微镜检查和反复入院检查证实为轻型近端肾小管病（LCPT）。LCPT常引起近端肾小管功能障碍，其特征是近端小管中结晶，多为kappa单克隆轻链的胞质内结晶状沉积。具有FS和LCPT特征的MM患者在临床上较少见，且难以准确诊断。希望通过此病例的分析，使临床医生关注LCPT等类型的有肾脏意义的单克隆球蛋白病（MGRS），以及与浆细胞病（如MM）的鉴别诊断。.

Abstract: Indirect time-of-flight (iToF) image sensors on silicon platforms [1]–[3] are attracting rising attention because of their better immunity to background light and potential to achieve higher pixel resolution. Shifting the laser wavelength to 940nm [3] may further improve the outdoor performance but at a cost of reduced responsivity and lower modulation speed. As shown in red in Fig. 5.3.1, the solar irradiance at 940nm is only one-fourth of the case at 850nm, and it keeps going down with increasing wavelength and even vanishes at ~1350nm. To further increase the system SNR, using larger laser power is a feasible choice, but this introduces a laser safety issue [4]. The maximum permissible exposure (MPE) at the cornea versus laser wavelength with 0.1s exposure time is plotted in blue in Fig. 5.3.1 as well. Obviously, the exposure limit is quite stringent at 940nm, but much relaxed at a longer near-infrared (NIR) wavelength. Both curves in Fig. 5.3.1 indicate that a better SNR can be achieved with lasers emitting at a longer NIR wavelength, while the system can still satisfy the constraint of MPE. Unfortunately, traditional silicon solutions fail to operate at a wavelength beyond 1000nm because of the 1.1eV indirect bandgap. However, it is shown that this can be solved by using germanium-on-silicon (Ge-on-Si) as the absorption material [5]. Since Ge has a direct bandgap of 0.8eV, Ge-on-Si technology can extend the absorption wavelength up to nearly 1550nm.
