The article presents a clinical case of papulopustular rosacea from our own practice. First of all, the patient's anamnesis is extremely interesting: family history (his brother has episodes of reddening of the face), the onset of rosacea against the background of a stressful situation, the presence of gastric diseases, the connection with nutritional factors. One of the first mentions of rosacea belongs to Avicenna, who in his writings described the clinical picture of rhinophyma ("badschenan", later renamed "abedsamen"). The pineal nose, dotted with "serpentine" vessels, has traditionally been associated with excessive drinking. Currently, the role of alcohol as an etiological factor is not paramount, but its aggravating effect has been proven. Despite the typical picture of rosacea, our patient has been receiving therapy for seborrheic dermatitis and other diseases several times over the course of several years. Probably, the specialists had doubts about the possible diagnosis of rosacea in a male patient under the age of 30.

The article presents data on the distribution characteristics of the HLA class I system antigens in patients with lichen planus. Aim. To study the patterns of distribution of HLA class I antigens in the general group. To establish the presence of an association of the disease with antigens of the HLA class I. Material and methods. Laboratory analysis of the distribution of HLA class I antigens was carried out in 60 patients with various forms of lichen planus who consider themselves Russian on the basis of linguistic and ethnicity. The duration of the disease is 120 years. Results. When analyzing the typing results in the general group of patients; a tendency to negative association of HLA-A11 and HLA-B7. It was found that the frequency of haplotype combinations A1-B8; A2-B27; A2-B40; A3-B35 significantly exceeded that of healthy people. Analysis of the frequency of phenotypic combinations revealed a significant increase in A3-A19 and B12-B35. Conclusion. Haplotype and phenotypic combinations of HLA A1-B8; A2-B27; A2-B40; A3-B35; A3-A19; B12-B35 are provoking factors in the development of various forms of the disease. The presence of these genetic traits in the individual increases the risk of developing lichen planus by 311 times. In turn; the HLA-A11 and B7 antigens play a protective role.

In the present article, relevant data on the characteristics of the course of infections transmitted through sexual contact (hereinafter STIs) are considered at the present stage. Particular attention is paid to mixed infections, in particular the combination of syphilis and HIV. Since the presence of both infections in a patient simultaneously significantly complicates the clinical picture, and also contributes to their spread in the population, which is an acute social problem. The article presents modern data on the epidemiology, level and dynamics of the incidence of syphilis and HIV infection in the Russian Federation, including among high-risk groups. Research data on the incidence of STIs (urogenital infections caused by Mycoplasma genitalium, Ureaplasma spp., Mycoplasma hominis, Chlamydia trachomatis, syphilis) and viral hepatitis B and C in 60 HIV-positive prisoners in the Kirov region are presented. The features of the development and course of syphilitic infection, the difficulties of diagnosis and therapy that occur with HIV are described. A case of own clinical observation of the malignant course of syphilis associated with HIV infection is presented. Both infections have been identified in the hospital where the patient is admitted with a diagnosis of spreading pyoderma, exhibited on the basis of complaints and clinical picture (ektimatoznye rash).

Two clinical cases of a complicated course of the primary period of syphilis are present. Attention deserves the severity of the clinical picture of a solid chancre, which could cause certain diagnostic difficulties.

Syntheses under shock in nitrogen bubbled samples of the water – formamide – bicarbonate – sodium hydroxide system at pH 8.63, 9.46 and 10.44 were performed in the stainless steel preservation capsules. The maximum temperature and pressure in the capsules reached 545 K and 12.5 GPa respectively. Using the LC-MS-MS analysis, the 21 synthesis products have been identified, including amines and polyamines, carboxamide, acetamide and urea derivatives, compounds containing aniline, pyrrolidine, pyrrole, imidazole, as well as alcohol groups. It was found that the Fischer-Tropsch-type syntheses with catalysis on the surface of the stainless steel of the conservation capsule associated with the adsorbed hydrogen cyanide reactions and transamidation processes play the main role in the shock syntheses. Formation reactions of all the above-mentioned compounds have been suggested. It was proposed that hydrogen cyanide, ammonia, isocyanic acid, aminonitrile, aminoacetonitrile, as well as adsorbed species H(a), CH(a), CH2(a), CHOH(a), NH2(a) and H2CNH(a) are especially important for the formation of the products. A reduction reaction of adsorbed bicarbonate with hydrogen to formaldehyde has been first postulated. In the studied system also classical reactions take place – Wohler’s synthesis of urea and Butlerov’s synthesis of methenamine. It was suggest that material of meteorites may be an effective catalyst in the Fischer-Tropsch-type syntheses at falling of the iron-nickel meteorites in the water – formamide regions on the early Earth. It was concluded that life could have originated due to the impact of meteorites on alkaline water-formamide lakes located near volcanoes on the early Earth.

The reason for writing this article was the difficulty in the differential diagnosis of skin lesions in a patient of 40 years, with a preliminary diagnosis of T-cell lymphoma. During the examination, including histological, immunomorphological, immunohistochemical methods, markers of various cell lines (T, B, myeloid) were detected. This feature is characteristic of lymphomas from plasmacytoid dendritic cells (MAC), a new nosological unit. In the WHO classification (2001), tumors with a similar phenotype were included in the lymphoma section of natural killer cells (NK-blast lymphomas). The clinical case described by us illustrates the need for an integrated approach in the diagnosis of lymphomas, which makes it possible to promptly assign adequate therapy.

The expression of potential prognostic markers of human colon adenocarcinoma in tumor and adjacent normal tissue, as well as the relationship between their expression levels was studied. The expression of potential prognostic markers (IGFBP3, AhR, CYP1A1, CYP1B1, HIF-1α, OCT4A, OCT4B, OCT4B1) was assayed with quantitative RT-PCR (qPCR). A correlation between IGFBP3 and AhR expression was found. AhR signaling was analyzed in the primary culture of human colon adenocarcinoma BSK 8 with IGFBP3 gene knockout. It was found that the enhanced expression of AhR can be an additional diagnostic criterion for colon cancer. The correlation between the expression level of HIF-1α, IGFPB3, and OCT4 isoforms and clinic stage (TNM) was not estimated. Clones with IGFBP3 gene knockout had augmented doubling time and increased resistance to the cytostatic drug 5-ftoruracile after modulated activity of dioxin receptor with its agonist—indol-3-carbinol.

Sixty patients with different clinical symptoms of secondary syphilis (ulcer chancres, pustular syphilis, hypertrophic papules, widespread leukoderma and alopecia) were examined in order to study the distribution pattern of histocompatibility antigens of the first class in patients with secondary syphilis of the skin and mucous membranes. As a result of the study, the presence of an associative relationship between the distribution pattern of histocompatibility antigens of the first class and various clinical manifestations in patients with secondary syphilis was established.

The principal cause of death in cancer involves tumor progression and metastasis. Since only a small proportion of the primary tumor cells, cancer stem cells (CSCs), which are the most aggressive, have the capacity to metastasize and display properties of stem cells, it is imperative to characterize the gene expression of diagnostic markers and to evaluate the drug sensitivity in the CSCs themselves. Here, we have examined the key genes that are involved in the progression of colorectal cancer and are expressed in cancer stem cells. Primary cultures of colorectal cancer cells from a patient's tumors were studied using the flow cytometry and cytological methods. We have evaluated the clinical and stem cell marker expression in these cells, their resistance to 5-fluorouracil and irinotecan, and the ability of cells to form tumors in mice. The data shows the role of stem cell marker Oct4 in the resistance of primary colorectal cancer tumor cells to 5-fluorouracil.

The current article analyzes a clinical case of general psoriasis-form syphilid in a 28-year patient. Attention is paid to combination of exudative psoriasis and syphilis in in a sex partner. Problems of differential diagnosis for clinical evidence of secondary syphilis and psoriasis were analyzed.

An approach to the synthesis of epoxides based on 6-hydroxymethylpyridoxine acetals was developed. The epoxides obtained were involved in the ring opening reactions by nitrogen-, oxygen-, and sulfur-containing nucleophiles. Cytotoxicity and antiadrenergic properties of some synthesized compounds were studied on the models in situ and in vivo.

A novel phosphonium salt based on pyridoxine was synthesized. Conformational analysis of the compound in solution was performed using dynamic NMR experiments and calculations. The obtained results revealed some differences in the conformational transitions and the energy parameters of the conformational exchange of the studied compound in comparison to previously reported data for other phosphorus-containing pyridoxine derivatives. It was shown that increasing the substituent at the C-11 carbon leads to greater differences in the populations of stable states and the corresponding equilibrium energies. A series of 26 quaternary ammonium pyridoxine derivatives were synthesized and their cytotoxicity and antibacterial activities against clinically relevant bacterial strains were tested in vitro. The antibacterial activity of mono-ammonium salts increased with the rise of the lipophilicity and compound 3,3,5-trimethyl-8,8-dioctyl-1,7,8,9-tetrahydro-[1,3]dioxino[5,4-d]pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridin-8-ium chloride (2d) reaches a maximum among them. Bis-ammonium salt of pyridoxine 4 with two dimethyloctylamine groups also demonstrated high antibacterial activity despite lower lipophilicity. The results of MTT assay indicated that HEK 293 cells were more sensitive than HSF to quaternary ammonium pyridoxine derivatives. Compounds 2d and 4 did not induce the damage of the DNA and might be of interest in the development of new antimicrobials.

One-pot procedures were developed for the synthesis of lipophilic N-(dialkylphosphorylmethyl) derivatives of natural amino acids with high yields from dioctyl- or didecylphosphine oxide, formaldehyde, and amino acid in the presence of amino acid hydrochloride. The reactions with some amino acids were also effective under catalysis by crown ether. The structure of the isolated N-(dialkylphosphorylmethyl) and N,N-bis(dialkylphosphorylmethyl)amino acids was determined on the basis of 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR and mass spectra; the structure of (S)-N-[(dicyclohexylphosphoryl)methyl]-α-alanine was proved by X-ray analysis, and intermolecular association of its molecules in crystal was characterized. Membrane transport properties of the new phosphorylated amino acids with respect to polyfunctional carboxylic acids were studied, and factors responsible for the efficiency and selectivity of membrane transport of acid substrates were estimated. Selective extraction of glutaric acid through a liquid membrane containing N,N-bis[(dioctylphosphoryl)methyl]-β-alanine was revealed.

Previously, we have described the establishment of a subpopulation of cancer stem cells from the human colorectal carcinoma cell line MIP101. These cells exhibit enhanced clonogenic and tumorigenic capacities. Depletion of the stem compartment in the cancer cell population blocks its tumorigenicity. The present work is dedicated to a comparison of the tumorigenic potential of cell populations with an enriched or depleted stem compartment. We showed that tumor growth after xenografting of an enriched stem cell population can be suppressed by intramuscular injections of ganciclovir. Thus, we suggest an approach to isolating a cell population with high Oct4 promoter expression in the MIP101 colorectal carcinoma line and eliminating these cells from the population in vitro as well as in vivo.

Bisphosphonates derived from natural terpenes were synthesized by phosphonylation of corresponding aldehydes. The general strategy of introduction of the phosphonate groups into the polyprenol molecule involves successive treatment of a hydroxyl compound by Swern reagent to oxidize the C-OH group into C=O and a (EtO)3P/[PyH]+ClO−4 mixture to phosphylate the resulting carbonyl compound.

Clinical and experimental data suggest that carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA, CD66e, CEACAM-5) plays a key role in the formation of hepatic metastasis from colorectal and other types of epithelial cancers. The molecular events involved in CEA-induced metastasis have yet to be defined. Our group first cloned the gene (CEAR) for CEA-binding protein from the surface of fixed liver macrophages, (Kupffer cells). In this study to further elucidate the role of CEAR in colorectal cancer progression, its expression in colorectal cancer cells was suppressed by short hairpin RNAs (shRNAs) in CEA-overexpressing and CEA - negative MIP-101 colorectal cancer cell lines. The data show that targeted suppression of endogenous CEAR in tumor cells resulted in changes in cell invasiveness. RT-PCR data indicated reduced levels of E-cadherin, Snail, MMP-2, and Oct-4 in the clones with suppressed CEAR suggesting a role in the epithelial mesenchymal transition. The comparative analysis of tumorigenic activity to the liver of the cell lines with suppressed CEAR has also been conducted using an intrasplenic injection model in immuno-deficient mice. This data shows a decrease in tumor progression associated with CEAR suppression. In summary the results of this study revealed a novel role for CEAR gene in the regulation of colorectal cancer cell invasiveness and progression.

The development of reconstructive therapy of the urinary tract using pluripotent and somatic stem cells, e.g., mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), is currently in the stage of experimental studies. These studies include the investigation of the main functions of MSC and the urothelium lining the organs of the urinary tract. An important role in the regulation of proliferation and differentiation of urothelium belongs to EGF and Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways, the activity of which may be evaluated by the level of Her-4 and Tcf-3, 4, respectively. We found that MSC labeled by transgenic green fluorescence protein (GFP) did not pro-duce Her-4 and Tcf3, 4 in vitro, but activated their production after cell grafting into the cryoinjured bladders of the syngenic mice. In mice transplanted with these MSC GFP was detected by RT-PCR in the bladder. GFP colocalization with Her-4 or Tcf3, 4 in a few urothelial cells was detected by immunohistochemical staining with specific antibodies. These results suggest that MSC labeled with GFP an be used as a proper model to study the transdifferentiation of somatic cells into urothelium.

Extraction of Sc(III) ions by new aminophosphinyl compounds containing one or two methylenediorganylphosphinyl groups at the nitrogen atom was studied with a target of the development of effective and selective extractants of trace elements. The selection of extractants was due to their high hydrolytic stability in the acid media, commonly used at the extraction of metal ions in the industrial hydrometallurgical processes. The study of extraction of hydrogen chloride and nitric acids with the selected aminophosphinyl compounds allowed a discovery of substances with the low basicity, which were characterized by the low coefficient of the acids extraction. Highly effective extractants of Sc(III) were found possessing high coefficients of extraction and high degree of selectivity in the separation of Sc(III) ion from the ions of satellite metals.

Lipophilic α-aminophosphine oxides are good extractants for liquid and membrane extraction. Optically active α-aminophosphine oxides, containing chiral centers in their structure, can provide selective means for transfer of stereoisomers through supported liquid membranes. We have developed a method for synthesis of such carrier compounds based on a three-component Kabachnik–Fields reaction.

The inverse problem of finding the coefficient γ in the equation from the extra data of the form is studied.The problem is reduced to a Volterra equation of the second kind. Applications aregiven to parabolic equations with second order differential operators.

We study quasilinear concave operators on Banach spaces with partial ordering. Additional assumption which makes comparison principles applicable is that Frechet derivative of a (smooth) non-linear part is a generator of a positive semigroup. Stable solutions are introduced for stationary problem and it is proved that they are attractors to the solutions of an evolution problem. Under stronger assumptions about spaces and operators we prove also the existence of the stable solutions.
