Abstract: Abstract We report a determination of the CKM angle ϕ 3, also known as γ, from a combination of measurements using samples of up to 711 fb −1 from the Belle experiment and up to 362 fb −1 from the Belle II experiment. We combine results from analyses of B + → DK +, B + → Dπ +, and B + → D * K + decays, where D is an admixture of D 0 and D ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{D}}^0 $$ mesons, in a likelihood fit to obtain ϕ 3 = (75.2 ± 7.6) ° . We also briefly discuss the interpretation of this result.

Abstract: Abstract We report measurements of the e + e − → B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ , B B ¯ ∗ $$ B{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ , and B ∗ B ¯ ∗ $$ {B}^{\ast }{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ cross sections at four energies, 10653, 10701, 10746 and 10805 MeV, using data collected by the Belle II experiment. We reconstruct one B meson in a large number of hadronic final states and use its momentum to identify the production process. In the first 2 – 5 MeV above B ∗ B ¯ ∗ $$ {B}^{\ast }{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ threshold, the e + e − → B ∗ B ¯ ∗ $$ {B}^{\ast }{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ cross section increases rapidly. This may indicate the presence of a pole close to the threshold.

Abstract: Abstract We present a study of Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0 $$ , Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0\eta $$ , and Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η ′ $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\eta}^{\prime } $$ decays using the Belle and Belle II data samples, which have integrated luminosities of 980 fb −1 and 426 fb −1, respectively. We measure the following relative branching fractions B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 / B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + = 0.48 ± 0.02 stat ± 0.03 syst , B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η / B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + = 0.11 ± 0.01 stat ± 0.01 syst , B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η ′ / B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + = 0.08 ± 0.02 stat ± 0.01 syst $$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=0.48\pm 0.02\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.03\left(\textrm{syst}\right),\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0\eta \right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=0.11\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{syst}\right),\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\eta}^{\prime}\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=0.08\pm 0.02\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.01\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\end{array}} $$ for the first time, where the uncertainties are statistical (stat) and systematic (syst). By multiplying by the branching fraction of the normalization mode, B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ , we obtain the following absolute branching fraction results B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 = 6.9 ± 0.3 stat ± 0.5 syst ± 1.3 norm × 10 − 3 , B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η = 1.6 ± 0.2 stat ± 0.2 syst ± 0.3 norm × 10 − 3 , B Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 η ′ = 1.2 ± 0.3 stat ± 0.1 syst ± 0.2 norm × 10 − 3 , $$ {\displaystyle \begin{array}{c}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0\right)=\left(6.9\pm 0.3\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.5\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\pm 1.3\left(\operatorname{norm}\right)\right)\times {10}^{-3},\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0\eta \right)=\left(1.6\pm 0.2\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.2\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\pm 0.3\left(\operatorname{norm}\right)\right)\times {10}^{-3},\\ {}\mathcal{B}\left({\varXi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\eta}^{\prime}\right)=\left(1.2\pm 0.3\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.1\left(\textrm{syst}\right)\pm 0.2\left(\operatorname{norm}\right)\right)\times {10}^{-3},\end{array}} $$ where the third uncertainties are from B Ξ c 0 → Ξ − π + $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ . The asymmetry parameter for Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0 $$ is measured to be α Ξ c 0 → Ξ 0 π 0 = − 0.90 ± 0.15 stat ± 0.23 syst $$ \alpha \left({\Xi}_c^0\to {\Xi}^0{\pi}^0\right)=-0.90\pm 0.15\left(\textrm{stat}\right)\pm 0.23\left(\textrm{syst}\right) $$ .

Abstract: Abstract We present the result of a search for the charged-lepton-flavor violating decay τ − → μ − μ + μ − using a 424 fb −1 sample of data recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB e + e − collider. The selection of e + e − → τ + τ − events is based on an inclusive reconstruction of the non-signal tau decay, and on a boosted decision tree to suppress background. We observe one signal candidate, which is compatible with the expectation from background processes. We set a 90% confidence level upper limit of 1.9 × 10 −8 on the branching fraction of the τ − → μ − μ + μ − decay, which is the most stringent bound to date.

Abstract: Abstract We present a measurement of the ratio R μ = B τ − → μ − ν ¯ μ ν τ / B τ − → e − ν ¯ e ν τ $$ {R}_{\mu }=\mathcal{B}\left({\tau}^{-}\to {\mu}^{-}{\overline{\nu}}_{\mu }{\nu}_{\tau}\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\tau}^{-}\to {e}^{-}{\overline{\nu}}_e{\nu}_{\tau}\right) $$ of branching fractions B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ of the τ lepton decaying to muons or electrons using data collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB e + e − collider. The sample has an integrated luminosity of 362 ± 2 fb −1 at a centre-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV. Using an optimised event selection, a binned maximum likelihood fit is performed using the momentum spectra of the electron and muon candidates. The result, R μ = 0.9675 ± 0.0007 ± 0.0036, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic, is the most precise to date. It provides a stringent test of the light-lepton universality, translating to a ratio of the couplings of the muon and electron to the W boson in τ decays of 0.9974 ± 0.0019, in agreement with the standard model expectation of unity.

Abstract: Abstract We present measurements of the branching fractions of eight B ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ → D (*)+ K − K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ , B − → D (*)0 K − K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ decay channels. The results are based on data from SuperKEKB electron-positron collisions at the Υ(4S) resonance collected with the Belle II detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 362 fb −1. The event yields are extracted from fits to the distributions of the difference between expected and observed B meson energy, and are efficiency-corrected as a function of m(K − K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ ) and m(D (*) K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ ) in order to avoid dependence on the decay model. These results include the first observation of B ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ → D + K − K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ , B − → D* 0 K − K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ , and B ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ → D* + K − K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ decays and a significant improvement in the precision of the other channels compared to previous measurements. The helicity-angle distributions and the invariant mass distributions of the K − K S ∗ 0 $$ {K}_{(S)}^{\left(\ast \right)0} $$ systems are compatible with quasi-two-body decays via a resonant transition with spin-parity J P = 1− for the K − K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ systems and J P = 1+ for the K − K* 0 systems. We also present measurements of the branching fractions of four B ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{B}}^0 $$ → D (*)+ D s − $$ {D}_s^{-} $$ , B − → D (*)0 D s − $$ {D}_s^{-} $$ decay channels with a precision compatible to the current world averages.

Abstract: Abstract We present an analysis of the process e + e − → π + π − Υ(nS) (where n = 1, 2, or 3) reconstructed in 19.6 fb −1 of Belle II data during a special run of the SuperKEKB collider at four energy points near the peak of the Υ(10753) resonance. By analyzing the mass distribution of the π + π − Υ(nS) system and the Born cross sections of the e + e − → π + π − Υ(nS) process, we report the first observation of Υ(10753) decays to the π + π − Υ(1S) and π + π − Υ(2S) final states, and find no evidence for decays to π + π − Υ(3S). Possible intermediate states in the π + π − Υ(1S, 2S) transitions are also investigated, and no evidence for decays proceeding via the π ∓ Z b ± $$ {\pi}^{\mp }{Z}_b^{\pm } $$ or f 0(980)Υ(nS) intermediate states is found. We measure Born cross sections for the e + e − → π + π − Υ(nS) process that, combined with results from Belle, obtain the mass and width of Υ(10753) to be (10756.6 ± 2.7 ± 0.9) MeV/c 2 and (29.0 ± 8.8 ± 1.2) MeV, respectively. The relative ratios of the Born cross sections at the Υ(10753) resonance peak are also reported for the first time.

Abstract: Abstract We report results from a study of B ± → DK ± decays followed by D decaying to the CP-even final state K + K − and CP-odd final state K S 0 π 0 $$ {K}_S^0{\pi}^0 $$ , where D is an admixture of D 0 and D ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{D}}^0 $$ states. These decays are sensitive to the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity-triangle angle ϕ 3. The results are based on a combined analysis of the final data set of 772 × 106 B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ pairs collected by the Belle experiment and a data set of 198 × 106 B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ pairs collected by the Belle II experiment, both in electron-positron collisions at the Υ(4S) resonance. We measure the CP asymmetries to be A $$ \mathcal{A} $$ CP+ = (+12.5 ± 5.8 ± 1.4)% and A $$ \mathcal{A} $$ CP− = (−16.7 ± 5.7 ± 0.6)%, and the ratios of branching fractions to be R $$ \mathcal{R} $$ CP+ = 1.164 ± 0.081 ± 0.036 and R $$ \mathcal{R} $$ CP− = 1.151 ± 0.074 ± 0.019. The first contribution to the uncertainties is statistical, and the second is systematic. The asymmetries A $$ \mathcal{A} $$ CP+ and A $$ \mathcal{A} $$ CP− have similar magnitudes and opposite signs; their difference corresponds to 3.5 standard deviations. From these values we calculate 68.3% confidence intervals of (8.5 ° < ϕ 3 < 16.5 ° ) or (84.5 ° < ϕ 3 < 95.5 ° ) or (163.3 ° < ϕ 3 < 171.5 ° ) and 0.321 < r B < 0.465.

Abstract: Abstract We report a search for the charged-lepton flavor violation in Υ(2S) → ℓ ∓ τ ± (ℓ = e, μ) decays using a 25 fb −1 Υ(2S) sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − asymmetric-energy collider. We find no evidence for a signal and set upper limits on the branching fractions ( B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ) at 90% confidence level. We obtain the most stringent upper limits: B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (Υ(2S) → μ ∓ τ ± ) < 0.23 × 10 −6 and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (Υ(2S) → e ∓ τ ± ) < 1.12 × 10 −6.

Abstract: Abstract We report the first measurement of the inclusive e + e − → b b ¯ $$ b\overline{b} $$ → D s ± $$ {D}_s^{\pm } $$ X and e + e − → b b ¯ $$ b\overline{b} $$ → D 0 / D ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{D}}^0 $$ X cross sections in the energy range from 10.63 to 11.02 GeV. Based on these results, we determine σ(e + e − → B s 0 B ¯ s 0 $$ {B}_s^0{\overline{B}}_s^0 $$ X) and σ(e + e − → B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ X) in the same energy range. We measure the fraction of B s 0 $$ {B}_s^0 $$ events at Υ(10860) to be f s = ( 22.0 − 2.1 + 2.0 $$ {22.0}_{-2.1}^{+2.0} $$ )%. We determine also the ratio of the B s 0 $$ {B}_s^0 $$ inclusive branching fractions B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ( B s 0 $$ {B}_s^0 $$ → D 0 / D ¯ 0 $$ {\overline{D}}^0 $$ X)/ B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ ( B s 0 $$ {B}_s^0 $$ → D s ± $$ {D}_s^{\pm } $$ X) = 0.416 ± 0.018 ± 0.092. The results are obtained using the data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider.

Abstract: Abstract We measure the cross section of e + e − → η c J/ψ at the Υ(nS)(n = 1–5) on-resonance and 10.52 GeV off-resonance energy points using the full data sample collected by the Belle detector with an integrated luminosity of 955 fb −1. We also search for double charmonium production in e + e − → η c J/ψ via initial state radiation near the η c J/ψ threshold. No evident signal of the double charmonium state is found, but evidence for the e + e − → η c J/ψ process is found with a statistical significance greater than 3.3σ near the η c J/ψ threshold. The average cross section near the threshold is measured and upper limits of cross sections are set for other regions.

Abstract: Abstract We present the analysis of two-particle angular correlations using coordinate systems defined with the conventional beam axis and the event thrust axis. We propose the latter as a good representation for the correlation structure interpretation in the e + e − collision system. The e + e − collisions to hadronic final states at center-of-mass energies of s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 10.52 GeV and 10.58 GeV are recorded by the Belle detector at KEKB. In this paper, results on the first dataset are supplementary to the previous Belle publication [1]. At the same time, the latter is the first two-particle correlation measurement at collision energy on the Υ(4S) resonance and is sensitive to its decay products. Measurements are reported as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity. Finally, a qualitative understanding of the correlation structure is discussed using a combination of Monte Carlo simulations and experimental data.

Abstract: Abstract We report the measurement of the two-photon decay width of χ c2(1P) in two-photon processes at the Belle experiment. We analyze the process γγ → χ c2(1P) → J/ψγ, J/ψ → ℓ + ℓ − (ℓ = e or μ) using a data sample of 971 fb −1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − collider. In this analysis, the product of the two-photon decay width of χ c2(1P) and the branching fraction is determined to be Γ γγ χ c 2 1 P B χ c 2 1 P → J / ψγ B J / ψ → ℓ + ℓ − = 14.8 ± 0.3 stat . ± 0.7 syst . $$ {\Gamma}_{\gamma \gamma}\left({\chi}_{c2}(1P)\right)\mathcal{B}\left({\chi}_{c2}(1P)\to J/\psi \gamma \right)\mathcal{B}\left(J/\psi \to {\ell}^{+}{\ell}^{-}\right)=14.8\pm 0.3\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.7\left(\textrm{syst}.\right) $$ eV, which corresponds to Γ γγ (χ c2(1P)) = 653 ± 13(stat.) ± 31(syst.) ± 17(B.R.) eV, where the third uncertainty is from B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (χ c2(1P) → J/ψγ) and B $$ \mathcal{B} $$ (J/ψ → ℓ + ℓ − ).

Abstract: Abstract Using a data sample of 980 fb −1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider, we study for the first time the singly Cabibbo-suppressed decays Ω c 0 → Ξ − π + $$ {\Omega}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+} $$ and Ω − K + and the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay Ω c 0 → Ξ − K + $$ {\Omega}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{K}^{+} $$ . Evidence for an Ω c 0 $$ {\Omega}_c^0 $$ signal in the Ω c 0 $$ {\Omega}_c^0 $$ → Ξ − π + mode is reported with a significance of 4.5σ including systematic uncertainties. The ratio of branching fractions to the normalization mode Ω c 0 $$ {\Omega}_c^0 $$ → Ω − π + is measured to be B Ω c 0 → Ξ − π + / B Ω c 0 → Ω − π + = 0.253 ± 0.052 stat . ± 0.030 syst . . $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Omega}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\Omega}_c^0\to {\Omega}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)=0.253\pm 0.052\left(\textrm{stat}.\right)\pm 0.030\left(\textrm{syst}.\right). $$ No significant signals of Ω c 0 → Ξ − K + $$ {\Omega}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{K}^{+} $$ and Ω − K + modes are found. The upper limits at 90% confidence level on ratios of branching fractions are determined to be B Ω c 0 → Ξ − K + / B Ω c 0 → Ω − π + < 0.070 $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Omega}_c^0\to {\Xi}^{-}{K}^{+}\right)/\mathcal{B}\left({\Omega}_c^0\to {\Omega}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)

17. Effect of Okra Plant Lifespan upon Tensile Properties of Okra Fibers

Abstract: This study has been carried out to identify the effect of the okra plant lifespan upon the tensile properties, that is, fiber bundle strength and elongation of the yielded fibers. 90 ± 10 days, 120 ± 10 days, and 160 ± 10 days matured crop waste were subjected to different retting conditions (retting duration and retting medium flow rate). Water was used as retting medium with two different flow rates (0 and 6.5 m/min). Five retting durations were taken for this study between 11 and 35 days. The bundle tenacity (gf/tex) and elongation at break (%) were measured by Instron automatic bundle strength tester for the extracted okra fibers. The study revealed that okra fiber extracted through the running water showed better tensile strength (at least 14% higher, range 14–80%) than fiber extracted through stagnant water retting conditions at every retting duration (11–35 days) for the different lifespans of okra plants. Okra fiber bundle tenacity continuously reduced with the retting period ranging from 11 to 35 days irrespective of okra plant lifespan and retting conditions. Improvement in tenacity was found from 90 ± 10 days to 120 ± 10 days okra plant lifespan, but no significant improvement was found after 120 ± 10 days okra plant lifespan. No significant effect of elongation at break (%) was found for the okra plant lifespan and retting conditions.

Abstract: Okra bast fiber (OBF) is one of the underutilized natural bast fibers, extracted from the bark of the okra plant’s (Abelmoschus esculentus) stem. Globally, the okra crop is cultivated for its green immature fruit consumed as a vegetable. After fruit harvesting, the okra plants are treated as agro-waste. Worldwide, 62.11 lakh MT of green okra plant agro-waste is estimated annually. This agro-waste can be utilized to extract the technical bast fibers. The estimated production potential per hectare is 162 kg OBF and nearly 186 lakh kg OBF in the world. Extracted OBF has the potential to be utilized as commercial fiber-like jute fiber (JF). Therefore, the properties of extracted OBF were compared with those of JF in terms of linear density (tex), optical, tensile, and structural properties. OBF was extracted from the 120 ± 10 days old okra plant harvest waste through the water retting process (both flowing and stagnant water) in two different time intervals (17 and 25 days). Overall OBF showed better optical properties and similar or better tensile properties, while coarseness in its fineness than JF.

Abstract: Abstract We present a search for the charged lepton-flavor-violating decays ϒ(1S) → ℓ ± ℓ′∓ and radiative charged lepton-flavour-violating decays ϒ(1S) → γ ℓ ± ℓ′∓ [ℓ,ℓ′ = e, μ, τ] using the 158 million ϒ(2S) sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. This search uses ϒ(1S) mesons produced in ϒ(2S) → π + π − ϒ(1S) transitions. We do not find any significant signal, so we provide upper limits on the branching fractions at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Abstract We present the first measurement of the branching fraction of the singly Cabibbo-suppressed (SCS) decay Λ c + $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+} $$ → pη′ with η′ → ηπ + π − , using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 981 fb −1, collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − asymmetric-energy collider. A significant Λ c + $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+} $$ → pη′ signal is observed for the first time with a signal significance of 5.4σ. The relative branching fraction with respect to the normalization mode Λ c + $$ {\Lambda}_c^{+} $$ → pK − π + is measured to be B Λ c + → pη ′ B Λ c + → pK − π + = 7.54 ± 1.32 ± 0.73 × 10 − 3 , $$ \frac{\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p\eta^{\prime}\right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {pK}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right)}=\left(7.54\pm 1.32\pm 0.73\right)\times {10}^{-3}, $$ where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. Using the world-average value of B Λ c + → pK − π + $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {pK}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ = (6.28 ± 0.32) × 10 −2, we obtain B Λ c + → pη ′ = 4.73 ± 0.82 ± 0.46 ± 0.24 × 10 − 4 , $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p\eta^{\prime}\right)=\left(4.73\pm 0.82\pm 0.46\pm 0.24\right)\times {10}^{-4}, $$ where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from B Λ c + → pK − π + $$ \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to {pK}^{-}{\pi}^{+}\right) $$ , respectively.

Abstract: Abstract We present a measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa unitarity triangle angle ϕ 3 (also known as γ) using a model-independent Dalitz plot analysis of B + → D ( K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ h + h − )h +, where D is either a D 0 or D ¯ $$ \overline{D} $$ 0 meson and h is either a π or K. This is the first measurement that simultaneously uses Belle and Belle II data, combining samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of 711 fb −1 and 128 fb −1, respectively. All data were accumulated from energy-asymmetric e + e − collisions at a centre-of-mass energy corresponding to the mass of the Υ(4S) resonance. We measure ϕ 3 = (78.4 ± 11.4 ± 0.5 ± 1.0)°, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is the experimental systematic uncertainty and the third is from the uncertainties on external measurements of the D-decay strong-phase parameters.

22. Synthesis of Dual-Beam Patterns by Exploiting Time-Modulation in Unequally Spaced Linear Arrays

Abstract: In this paper, a novel approach for synthesizing multiple radiation patterns with reduced hardware complexity in the feed network by exploiting the additional degree of freedom ‘time’ in time modulated unequally spaced linear array (TMUSLA) is presented. In the proposed approach, with a suitable common set of element position of TMUSLA, the desired dual-beam pattern with low sidelobe level (SLL) is obtained by simply controlling the ON-OFF time sequence of the RF switches connected to the array elements. To show the effectiveness of the proposed array synthesis method, two dual beam patterns - first one as pencil (sum) beam (PB) and flat-topped beam (FTB) pattern, and the second one as sum and difference pattern with different constraints have been synthesized. For the successful generation of the desired power patterns, differential evolution (DE) algorithm is employed to obtain the optimum possible solution in terms of common element position, time-modulation, switching sequences and applicable excitation phase for the desired shape beam patterns. The superiority of the proposed approach with the favourable improved performance have been demonstrated by comparing the realized patterns with the state-of-the-art relevant reported works.

Abstract: A novel method of designing unequally spaced time-modulated arrays (UESTMAs) by handling fewer optimization parameters with reduced problem dimension is presented in this paper. For synthesizing UESTMA, two design parameters, specifically, the non-linear parameter - element position, and the linear parameter – on-time durations are optimized in two steps. Different possible cases of linear and non-linear synthesis methods such as, position-only (PO), on-time only (OTO), position then on-time (PTOT), on-time then position (OTTP), and simultaneous position on-time (SPOT) are considered. To examine the performance of the synthesis methods, three global search stochastic algorithms based on differential evolution (DE), teaching-learning-based optimization (TLBO) and quantum particle swarm optimization (QPSO) have been employed to achieve the array pattern with significantly suppressed side lobe levels and sideband levels. Through comparative study, it is observed that the two step non-liner to linear synthesis method by fewer optimization parameters is efficient to provide better pattern with less computation time.

Abstract: Abstract Using a data sample of 980 fb −1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider, we study the processes of Ξ c 0 → Λ K ¯ ∗ 0 $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to \Lambda {\overline{K}}^{\ast 0} $$ , Ξ c 0 → Σ 0 K ¯ ∗ 0 $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Sigma}^0{\overline{K}}^{\ast 0} $$ , and Ξ c 0 → Σ + K ∗ − $$ {\Xi}_c^0\to {\Sigma}^{+}{K}^{\ast -} $$ for the first time. Abstract: Abstract We report the first measurement of the exclusive cross sections e + e − → B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ , e + e − → B B ¯ ∗ $$ B{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ , and e + e − → B ∗ B ¯ ∗ $$ {B}^{\ast }{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $$ in the energy range from 10.63 GeV to 11.02 GeV. The B mesons are fully reconstructed in a large number of hadronic final states and the three channels are identified using a beam-constrained-mass variable. The shapes of the exclusive cross sections show oscillatory behavior with several maxima and minima. The results are obtained using data collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider.

Abstract: Abstract We present a search for the dark photon A′ in the B 0 → A′A′ decays, where A′ subsequently decays to e + e − , μ + μ − , and π + π − . The search is performed by analyzing 772 × 106 B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ events collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e − energy-asymmetric collider at the ϒ(4S) resonance. No signal is found in the dark photon mass range 0.01 GeV/c 2 ≤ m A′ ≤ 2.62 GeV/c 2, and we set upper limits of the branching fraction of B 0 → A′A′ at the 90% confidence level. The products of branching fractions, ℬ B 0 → A ′ A ′ × ℬ A ′ → e + e − 2 $$ \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}^0\to A^{\prime }A^{\prime}\right)\times \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}{\left(A\prime \to {e}^{+}{e}^{-}\right)}^2 $$ and ℬ B 0 → A ′ A ′ × ℬ A ′ → μ + μ − 2 $$ \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}^0\to A^{\prime }A^{\prime}\right)\times \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}{\left(A\prime \to {\mu}^{+}{\mu}^{-}\right)}^2 $$ , have limits of the order of 10 −8 depending on the A′ mass. Furthermore, considering A′ decay rate to each pair of charged particles, the upper limits of ℬ B 0 → A ′ A ′ $$ \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}^0\to A^{\prime }A^{\prime}\right) $$ are of the order of 10 −8–10 −5. From the upper limits of ℬ B 0 → A ′ A ′ $$ \mathrm{\mathcal{B}}\left({B}^0\to A^{\prime }A^{\prime}\right) $$ , we obtain the Higgs portal coupling for each assumed dark photon and dark Higgs mass. The Higgs portal couplings are of the order of 10 −2–10 −1 at m h ′ ≃ m B 0 $$ {m}_{h\prime}\simeq {m}_{B^0} $$ ± 40 MeV/c 2 and 10 −1–1 at m h ′ ≃ m B 0 $$ {m}_{h\prime}\simeq {m}_{B^0} $$ ± 3 GeV/c 2.

Abstract: Abstract We present measurements of the branching fractions for the decays B → Kμ + μ − and B → Ke + e − , and their ratio (R K ), using a data sample of 711 fb −1 that contains 772 × 106 B B ¯ $$ B\overline{B} $$ events. The data were collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider. The ratio R K is measured in five bins of dilepton invariant-mass-squared (q 2): q 2 ∈ (0.1, 4.0), (4.00, 8.12), (1.0, 6.0), (10.2, 12.8) and (> 14.18) GeV2 /c 4, along with the whole q 2 region. The R K value for q 2 ∈ (1.0, 6.0) GeV2 /c 4 is 1.03 − 0.24 + 0.28 $$ {1.03}_{-0.24}^{+0.28} $$ ± 0.01. The first and second uncertainties listed are statistical and systematic, respectively. All results for R K are consistent with Standard Model predictions. We also measure CP-averaged isospin asymmetries in the same q 2 bins. The results are consistent with a null asymmetry, with the largest difference of 2.6 standard deviations occurring for the q 2 ∈ (1.0, 6.0) GeV2 /c 4 bin in the mode with muon final states. The measured differential branching fractions, d ℬ $$ d\mathrm{\mathcal{B}} $$ /dq 2, are consistent with theoretical predictions for charged B decays, while the corresponding values are below the expectations for neutral B decays. We have also searched for lepton-flavor-violating B → Kμ ± e ∓ decays and set 90% confidence-level upper limits on the branching fraction in the range of 10 −8 for B + → K + μ ± e ∓, and B 0 → K 0 μ ± e ∓ modes.

Abstract: Abstract The first dedicated search for the η c2(1D) is carried out using the decays B + → η c2(1D)K +, B 0 → η c2(1D) K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ , B 0 → η c2(1D)π − K +, and B + → η c2(1D)π + K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ with η c2(1D) → h c γ. No significant signal is found. For the η c2(1D) mass range between 3795 and 3845 MeV/c 2, the branching-fraction upper limits are determined to be ℬ(B + → η c2(1D)K +) × ℬ(η c2(1D) → h c γ) < 3.7 × 10 −5, ℬ(B 0 → η c2(1D)K 0) × ℬ(η c2(1D) → h c γ) < 3.5 × 10 −5, ℬ(B 0 → η c2(1D)π − K +) × ℬ(η c2(1D) → h c γ) < 1.0 × 10 −4, and ℬ(B + → η c2(1D)π + K S 0 $$ {K}_S^0 $$ ) × ℬ(η c2(1D) → h c γ) < 1.1 × 10 −4 at 90% C.L. The analysis is based on the 711 fb −1 data sample collected on the ϒ(4S) resonance by the Belle detector, which operated at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider.

Abstract: We present a parts-per-million test of quantum electrodynamics (QED) in the HD^{+} molecular hydrogen ion, improving on previous tests based on vibrational and rotational transitions by factors of 76 and 1.4, respectively. The test is performed following a unified statistical approach that also produces improved constraints on physics beyond the standard model. We furthermore show how individual constraints derived from the various degrees of freedom in HD^{+} and antiprotonic helium can be combined to enhance the sensitivity, thus ruling out “fifth forces” on the Ångstrom scale that are 10^{11} times weaker than the electromagnetic interaction.

Abstract: The present work focuses to understand the limitations towards high temperature applications of plasma sprayed coatings like pure red mud, composited with varying weight % (10, 20 and 50) of fly ash on mild steel. Spraying is done at different operating power namely 9, 12 and 15 kW. Coating characteristics like morphology, thickness and phase formations are studied. The sustainability of these coatings towards high temperature at air environment up to 1000 °C is evaluated by finding their adhesion strength. DSC and TGA techniques are implemented to observe the coating behavior to heat. The coatings show remarkable resistance towards high temperature by virtue of adhesion strength compensation. It is feasible to use these coatings

Abstract: The present work describes development and validation of a high-performance liquid chromatography–diode array detection (HPLC–DAD) procedure for the analysis of phenylephrine hydrochloride (PHE), paracetamol (PAR), caffeine anhydrous (CAF), cetirizine Dihydrochloride (CET), nimesulide (NIM) in pharmaceutical mixture. Effective chromatographic separation of PHE, PAR, CAF, CET and NIM was achieved using a Kinetex-C18 (4.6 mm, 150 mm, 5 mm) column with gradient elution of the mobile phase composed of 10 mM phosphate buffer (pH 3.3) and acetonitrile. The elution was a three step gradient elution program step-1 started initially with 2% (by volume) acetonitrile and 98% phosphate buffer (pH 3.3) for first 2 min. In step-2 acetonitrile concentration changed linearly to 20% up to 12 min the analysis was concluded by step-3 changing acetonitrile to 2% up to 20 min. The proposed HPLC method was statistically validated with respect to linearity, ranges, precision, accuracy, selectivity and robustness. Calibration curves were linear in the ranges of 5–100, 100–1000 and 10–200 mg/mL for PHE, PAR, CAF, CET and NIM respectively, with correlation coefficients >0.9996. The HPLC method was applied to tablet dosage form in which the analytes were successfully quantified with good recovery values with no interfering peaks from the excipients.

32. The effect of nonlinear ionospheric conductivity enhancement on magnetospheric substorms

Abstract: We introduce the effect of enhanced ionospheric conductivity into a low-order, physics-based nonlinear model of the nightside magnetosphere called WINDMI. The model uses solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) parameters from the ACE satellite located at the L1 point to predict substorm growth, onset, expansion and recovery measured by the AL index roughly 50–60 min in advance. The dynamics introduced by the conductivity enhancement into the model behavior is described, and illustrated through using synthetically constructed solar wind parameters as input. We use the new model to analyze two well-documented isolated substorms: one that occurred on 31 July 1997 from Aksnes et al. (2002), and another on 13 April 2000 from Huang et al. (2004). These two substorms have a common feature in that the solar wind driver sharply decreases in the early part of the recovery phase, and that neither of them are triggered by northward turning of the IMF Bz. By controlling the model parameters such that the onset time of the substorm is closely adhered to, the westward auroral electrojet peaks during substorm expansion are qualitatively reproduced. Furthermore, the electrojet recovers more slowly with enhanced conductivity playing a role, which explains the data more accurately.

Abstract: Although rectal administration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is recommended as the standard pharmacologic modality to prevent postendoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP), vigorous periprocedural hydration (vHR) with lactated Ringer's solution (LR) is emerging as an effective prophylaxis modality for PEP. There has been no head-to-head comparison between these 2.This was a single-center, randomized, open-label, noninferiority, parallel-assigned, equal allocation, controlled clinical trial in a tertiary care hospital. Consecutive adults referred for ERCP, satisfying predefined inclusion criteria, underwent simple randomization and blinded allocation into 2 groups. Those allocated to vHR received intravenous LR at 3 mL/kg/h during procedure, 20 ml/kg bolus immediately afterward, and then at 3 mL/kg/h for another 8 hours. Those randomized to rectal Indomethacin received only per-rectal 100 mg suppository immediately post-ERCP. Assuming PEP of 9% in Indomethacin arm and noninferiority margin of 4%, we calculated sample size of 171 patients in each arm for 80% power and α-error 5%. Primary outcome was incidence of PEP, within 1 week, as defined by Cotton's criteria. All analysis were done by intention-to-treat.Between October, 2017 to February, 2018, 521 patients were assessed. In all, 352 were enrolled, 178 randomized to vHR, and 174 to per-rectal Indomethacin. Baseline details and ERCP outcomes were not different between 2 groups. PEP occurred in 6 (1.7%) overall, with 1 (0.6%) in hydration arm, and 5 (2.9%) in indomethacin arm; an absolute risk reduction of 2.3% (95% confidence interval: 0.9%-3.5%) and odds ratio of 0.19 (95% confidence interval: 0.02-1.65). Three patients developed severe PEP, all receiving indomethacin.vHR with LR is noninferior to postprocedure per-rectal Indomethacin for PEP prevention (ClinicalTrials.govID:NCT03629600).

Abstract: Local measurement of ionospheric parameters such as electron density, electron neutral collision frequency, neutral density, and the background temperature has a great benefit to improve the empirical models and validate remote observations of the lower ionosphere. One of the well-established instruments that have been used on rocket payloads and satellites to study the dynamic and temporal evolution of the ionospheric plasma is the plasma impedance probe (PIP). The PIP consists of an electrically short antenna that has a radiating part when placed in a plasma environment. It has been shown that the variation of characteristic features of the antenna input impedance is modified by local plasma parameters which can be used to infer ionospheric parameters. This paper aims at combining different aspects of the PIP characteristic impedance curve in order to make the measurements of local plasma parameters robust. The idea of using two different antenna types on the same payload is investigated. The input phase information along with the input impedance amplitude is employed for the first time to examine the idea of using two antenna types as PIP on the same mission for exact ionospheric plasma and neutral density observations. The unique impedance characteristic curves of dipole and patch antennas are shown to be able to enhance the accuracy of the observations.

43. Evaluating the filtration efficiency of commercial facemasks’ materials against respiratory aerosol droplets

Abstract: Respiratory droplets serve as a viable transmission mechanism for many viruses and other pathogens. Facemasks are commonly used to minimize the risk of this transmission. However, information on the size-resolved filtration efficiency of commonly available commercial facemasks is not readily available in the literature. To fill this gap, the current study performs aerosolized chamber experiments to evaluate the filtration efficiencies of commonly available commercial facemasks' materials in a size range of 0.3-10 µm. Results rank the performance of filtration through commercial facemasks' materials as follows (values in brackets indicate the average filtration efficiencies across 0.3-10 µm): 6-Layer N95 mask (0.918) > N95 mask - without valve (0.88) > KN95 mask (0.84) > N95 mask -with valve (0.834) > Heavy knitted cotton mask (0.808) > Surgical mask (0.778) > Cotton mask-2 layers (0.744) > Nylon fabric mask-2 layers (0.740) > T-shirt fabric mask-2 layers (0.708) > T-shirt fabric mask-1 layer (0.648). The size-resolved filtration efficiencies through the material across the evaluated commercial facemasks ranged from 38-83% in the size range of 0.3-0.5 µm, 55-88% in the size range of 0.5-1 µm, 69-93% in the size range of 1-2.5 µm, 76-96% in the size range of 2.5-5 µm, and 86-99% in the size range of 5-10 µm. Subsequently, the filtration efficiencies of materials post washing (with detergent in warm water and allowing to dry completely) were also evaluated. The average reduction in filtration efficiencies post washing are as follows: 6-Layer N95 mask: 3%, N95 mask - without valve: 2%, KN95 mask: 4%, N95 mask -with valve: 3%, Heavy knitted cotton mask: 4%, Surgical mask: 18%, Cotton mask-2 layers: 11%, Nylon fabric mask-2 layers: 6%, T-shirt fabric mask-2 layers: 6%, T-shirt fabric mask-1 layer: 8%. This decrease in the filtration efficiency was more pronounced for the sub-micron particles than the super-micron ones.Implications: Facemasks are commonly used to minimize the risk of pathogens through ambient air transmission. The choice of facemask is greatly driven by the size of viable respiratory droplets that need to be eliminated. If droplets with particle size less than 0.5 µm are required to be filtered, N95 masks without the valve or more layers are preferred. If the primary objective is to filter particles between 0.5-1 µm, then N95 (both with or without valves) or KN95 masks are recommended. Surgical masks and heavy knitted cotton masks may also be used for this purpose, but with caution.

Abstract: Journal of high energy physics 06(6), 137 (2021). doi:10.1007/JHEP06(2021)137, We report the first measurement of the exclusive cross sections e$^{+}$e$^{��}$ �� $ B\overline{B} $, e$^{+}$e$^{��}$ �� $ B{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $, and e$^{+}$e$^{��}$ �� $ {B}^{\ast }{\overline{B}}^{\ast } $ in the energy range from 10.63 GeV to 11.02 GeV. The B mesons are fully reconstructed in a large number of hadronic final states and the three channels are identified using a beam-constrained-mass variable. The shapes of the exclusive cross sections show oscillatory behavior with several maxima and minima. The results are obtained using data collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e$^{+}$e$^{��}$ collider.[graphic not available: see fulltext], Published by SISSA, [Trieste]

46. Thermal stress response of different age group of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus, 1758) exposed to various temperature regimes

Abstract: Climate change and temperature variations are of paramount importance to aquaculture. Here, we investigated the thermal stress response of five life stages of tilapia viz. spawn, fry, fingerling, juveniles and adults exposed to different temperatures (28°C to 40°C). Stress response was assessed in terms of survival/mortality, thermal shock, changes in hematology, histopathology of liver and gonad. The spawn, fry and fingerlings died within 1 to 39 min at 40°C due to thermal shock. Thermal acclimation was observed in these stages till 34°C. Beyond 34°C, low feed intake and susceptibility were marked. Significant increments in the hematological parameters were noticed when the water temperature elevated from 28°C to 32°C and thereafter deteriorated. Hematological parameters, gonadosomatic index (GSI), digestive somatic index (DSI) and hepatosomatic index (HSI) showed ideal conditions at temperatures between 28°C to 30°C. However, a marked change in the liver and gonad histoarchitecture and decreased organ somatic indices of adult tilapia were also noticed in response to elevated temperatures. This study suggests that the developmental stages of tilapia are highly susceptible to thermal shock and a gradual temperature rise helped them acclimate to 34°C. Further temperature rise may adversely affect tilapia aquaculture.

47. Fuel Consumption Intersection Control Performance Index

Abstract: The Performance Index (PI), a widely used composite measure of vehicular stops and delays, is one of the most popular traffic signal performance measures. Over the decades it has been used to achieve a proper balance between delays and stops. Its key component, the “stop penalty,” has been used to minimize excess fuel consumption from unnecessary stops caused by traffic control operations. In signal optimization practice this stop penalty, also known as the K factor, has been set as an invariable parameter with a relatively low value ∼10 to 20. This paper questions this widely accepted practice. It first explains the origins and meaning of the PI and the significance of the K factor. Then, it lists various studies, discusses their inconsistencies, and introduces a new Fuel Consumption Intersection Control PI (FCIC-PI). The paper also presents findings from field data collection and compares them with the other studies, including some simulation results. Outcomes of these various findings show some inconsistencies, but all point to the existing practice being wrong: the K factor is a variable dependent on at least one important factor—cruising speed. The outcomes also indicate that K values should, if fuel consumption is to be minimized, be larger than currently used. Future research should confirm these findings with a larger field data set, investigate other factors that affect the stop penalty, and consider a family of other emission-related PIs. Finally, a new methodology should be developed to properly integrate these new PIs into signal timing optimization.

49. Estimating the Inadvertent Decrement in Mortality due to Reduction in Ambient Fine Particulate Concentrations During COVID-19 Lockdown in India

Abstract: The adverse health effects of long and short-term exposure to ambient air pollutants are well established in the epidemiological literature. Amongst all pollutants, fine particulate matter (PM2.5), poses a significant mortality risk because of its toxicity and extensive human exposure. During COVID-19 lockdowns, numerous studies have reported a reduction in ambient PM2.5 concentrations due to decreased anthropogenic activities. Therefore, potential health benefits are plausible during this period. In this pursuit, the current study aims to estimate the potential deaths that might have been avoided due to the reductions in PM2.5 levels during COVID-19 lockdowns in India's 12 states. For the same, concentration–response functions are developed, and the changes in PM2.5 levels were calculated. Overall, PM2.5 levels in the analysed states decreased by an average of 19.61 µg/m3 (SD = 10.34 µg/m3) during the months of April–June 2020 compared to the previous year. The concentration–response coefficient (β) obtained for the Indian states is 0.02272 (0.01063–0.03481, 95% Confidence Interval). Upon using these values in the calculation, our analysis estimates that nearly 73,853–92,116 mortalities might have been avoided in the 12 analysed Indian states for the period of April–June 2020 due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Given the high levels of PM2.5 in India with its well-known associated health risks and the results of this study, it is likely that the number of lives potentially saved during the COVID-19 lockdown due to reduced concentrations of PM2.5 might surpass the COVID-19 deaths in the country.
