The Spectr-W3 database was developed in 2001–2013 and is available online (http://spectrw3. snz.ru). The database contains information on various spectroscopic constants of atoms and ions such as the wavelengths and probabilities of radiative transitions, energy levels of atoms and ions, ionization potentials, autoionization rates, and the parameters of analytical approximation of cross sections and rates of collisional transitions in atoms and ions. Spectr-W3 presently contains around 450 thousand records and is the world’s largest factual database on spectral properties of multicharged ions. A new stage of development of Spectr-W3, which involves adding a new section titled “Emission Spectrograms” to the database, commenced in 2014. In contrast to the already existing sections that contain tabulated data, this new section provides graphical data (with necessary explanatory notes) on the spectrograms of emission of atoms and ions excited in various plasma sources. The structure of sections of the Spectr-W3 database is characterized, and examples of queries and the corresponding search results are given.

A theoretical approach to the calculation of the image of an inhomogeneity in transillumination of tissue-like media using polarized radiation is developed in the approximation of the basic polarization modes. The method is based on the solution of the nonstationary transfer equation in the Fokker-Planck approximation. An expression for the edge spread function of the image of a totally absorbing half-plane is derived. A generalization to the image profile of inhomogeneity that represents a finite-width stripe is presented. The spatial resolution (sharpness) and contrast of image are analyzed at various time intervals of detection. The image parameters are compared for the polarization-difference technique and imaging in unpolarized light. It is demonstrated that the imaging using the difference of linear polarizations is similar to the imaging using the pulsed unpolarized radiation with a detection interval of about z/2c (z is the thickness of the sample and c is the velocity of light). The results are in agreement with the experimental data on the differential polarization transillumination of tissue-like media.

The depolarization of light in multiple-scattering media with large (larger than the light wavelength) inhomogeneities is considered. The polarization state of the scattered light is described in the principal-mode approximation. Using the Fokker-Planck model, the polarization and intensity distribution of light are calculated in the vicinity of an inhomogeneity in the shape of an absorbing half-plane. The results of the calculations agree with the experimental data on transmission of light through turbid media.

A theoretical approach to the calculation of the time profile of the degree of polarization in an ultrashort pulse of polarized light is developed in the approximation of the basic polarization modes. It is demonstrated that the degree of polarization of linearly polarized light differs from zero at the initial time interval that is on the order of transport mean free time. In the medium with large inhomogeneities, the circular polarization exhibits slower decay on the time scale that is on the order of the interval between depolarizing collisions. The results are in agreement with the results of numerical calculations and experiments.

To lean the condition of thyroid gland and thyroid function in patients with chronic renal failure on a hemodialysis. A total of 234 patients (105 males and 129 females) with chronic renal failure who are being treated by a long-term hemodialysis from 1 to 167 months, living in different city of Eastern Siberia were examined. All patients included in the study have ultrasonografic scan of thyroid. Free thyroid hormones, thyrotropin and thyroid peroxidase antibodies blood levels were determined. Among the examined cases in 60 (25.4%) was diagnosed thyroid disease (autoimmune thyroiditis without dysfunction, subclinical hypothyroidism, nontoxic diffuse or nodular goiter) for the first time. In 102 (43.6%) of cases the thyroid disease has not revealed, in 39 (16.7%) euthyroid sick syndrome type 1 or 2 was determined.

The effect of an external field on the transition radiation from an ultrarelativistic particle is considered at grazing emission angles. The angular and frequency distribution of transition radiation is found. It is shown that the external field substantially increases the angular asymmetry of transition radiation at grazing emission angles.

The conjunctival bloodflow was examined in patients with diabetic nephropathy with different status of renal function and changes in the microcirculatory bed assessed after endovascular laser therapy. Twenty-five donors and twenty-one patients with medium-severe and grave type I diabetes complicated by diabetic nephropathy were followed up. Microcirculatory disorders in the eyeball conjunctiva progressed as renal function deteriorated, which was evident from a reliable increase of the total conjunctival index in parallel with the progress of chronic- renal insufficiency. A course of endovascular laser therapy reliably improved the microcirculation: the arterio-venular coefficient increased and the total conjunctival index decreased in patients with latent and conservatively curable stages of chronic renal insufficiency due to normalization of vascular tone, boosting of the bloodflow, and decrease of red cell sludging.

An approximate solution is obtained for the thermalization transport equation for electrons with an energy below the atom ionization potential. The results are used to estimate the thermalization time and the time of removal of the ionization electron from its atom in the gaseous and liquid states of inert gases.

The screening properties of a system of interacting spin-polarized electrons are investigated. The exact closed equation for the vertex function is received by a many-particle approach and the main contribution to that function is founded on the linear approximation of the generalized screened potential. The local field factor is calculated and its strong electron density dependence is demonstrated. The compressibility is positive in a wide interval of electron densities. Die exakte geschlossene Gleichung fur die Scheitelfunktion wird mit einem Vielteilchenverfahren erhalten und der Hauptbeitrag zu dieser Funktion ist auf der linearen Naherung des verallgemeinerten Abschirmpotentials begrundet. Der Lokalfeldfaktor wird berechnet und es wird seine starke Abhangigkeit von der Elektronendichte gezeigt. Die Kompressibilitat ist in einem grosen Bereich der Elektronendichte positiv.
