Abstract

Reactions of dibenzylideneacetone and cyclic cross-conjugated dienones with hexacarbonylmolybdenum(0) and bis[tricarbonyl(cyclopentadienyl)molybdenum(0)] afforded the corresponding complexes with η2-(C=C),η2-(C=O) coordination of the diketone to metal center, regardless of the ligand structure and initial molybdenum compound. The reactivity of the multidentate ligands may change as a result of coordination.

Abstract

A series of 3,7-dialkyl-1,5-diphenyl-3,7-diazabicyclo[3.3. 1]nonan-9-ones was prepared, and the details of their fragmentation under electron ionization (EI) were elucidated. The molecular ions of each compound under consideration were quite abundant in their EI spectra. Full-scan spectra exhibited a number of fragment ions which were clearly assigned using MS/MS and accurate mass measurements. The basic fragmentation of 3,7-dialkyl-1,5-diphenylbispidinones was due to the cleavage of C(1)-C(2) bond followed by a hydrogen migration similar to an odd-electron McLafferty rearrangement. Alternatively, the C(1)-C(2) bond cleavage was followed by the elimination of an imine molecule, Alk-N=CH(2). Further fragmentation resulted in ions at m/z 234 and 103, present in the spectra of all the compounds under study. The fragmentation pathways proposed in this paper are based on the substituent shifts, accurate mass measurements and collision-induced dissociation spectra of selected ions. The results of the present work can be useful in selecting the fragment ions suitable for identification and quantitation of bispidinones in biological matrices.

Abstract Three procedures were used for the synthesis of a-, ß, and ?-pyridyl-substituted (5Z)-3-phenyl-5-(pyridylmethylene)-2-thiohydantoins: the reaction of 2-thiohydantoin with the corresponding aldehyde in AcOH in the presence of AcONa, the two-step one-pot synthesis with the use of the same starting compounds, and three-component condensation of aryl isothiocyanate, glycine, and aldehyde in AcOH. Alkylation of the resulting thiohydantoins with iodomethane in the presence of a base afforded the corresponding S-methylated derivatives, viz., 2-methylthio-3-phenyl-5-(pyridylmethylene)-3,5-dihydro-4H-imidazol-4-ones. The structures of (5Z)-3-phenyl-5-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)-2-thioxoimidazolin-4-one and (5Z)-2-methylthio-3-phenyl-5-(pyridin-2-ylmethylene)-3,5-dihydro-4H-imidazol-4-one were established by X-ray diffraction analysis. Abstract The reactions of N-substituted piperidin-4-ones with benzylideneacetophenone, resulting in the synthesis of a number of heterocyclic 1,5-dicarbonyl compounds, were studied. 1,2,5-Trimethylpiperidin-4-one enters into cascade-type chalcone addition accompanied by intramolecular aldol condensation giving rise to the 3-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane system. The conformations of the 1,5-dicarbonyl compounds and azabicyclononanes synthesized were determined; the regio- and stereochemical features of the reactions of 1,2,5-trimethylpiperidin-4-one with chalcone were studied. Abstract

Complexes of Ni(ClO4)2 with 1,4-bis(2-aminobenzyl)piperidine (1) and 1,4-bis(2-amino-4-tertbutyl)piperidine (2) and products of their cyclization with ortho-phthalic aldehyde in methanol [NiL3][ClO4]2 (3) and [NiL4][ClO4]2 (4), respectively, are synthesized. Complexes 1 and 2 can be reduced on a platinum electrode irreversibly. Cyclic complexes 3 and 4 undergo reduction reversibly or quasi-reversibly in two or three stages. The reduction products react with n-BuI or n–BuBr (Bu = butyl) via an inner-sphere mechanism of oxidative attachment, probably, with the formation of the Ni–C bond. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
