The purpose of this work was to establish the composition of the community of beetles associated with xylotrophic fungi on the territory of the Saratov city landscapes which diff ers from the natural forest regional ecosystems. Collections of coleoptera (imagos and larvae) were carried out in the spring-summer period 2017–2020 from fruiting bodies of various xylotrophic basidiomycetes from deciduous tree species of the city areas in the Volzhsky, Kirovsky, Frunzensky, Oktyabrsky and Zavodsky districts of the town. When collecting the material, various methods were used: manual collection, fl otation method and mounted traps. Beetles were found on 129 fruiting bodies of 7 species of xylotrophic fungi. 986 beetles’ specimens of 29 species from 8 families were collected on fruiting bodies of various xylotrophic fungi. The mycetophilic beetles’ community is based on Staphylinidae (41.3%), Tenebrionidae (17.2%), Erotylidae (10.3%), Mycetophagidae (6,8%) and Ciidae (10.3%). The most typical for xylotrophic fungi were eight beetles’ species: Anotylus nitidulus (Gravenhorst, 1802), Gyrophaena joyi Wendeler, 1924 (Staphylinidae), Diaperis bolete (Linnaeus, 1758), Eledona agricola (Herbst, 1783) (Tenebrionidae), Cis comptus Gyllenhal, 1827 (Ciidae), Mycetophagus quadripustulatus (Linnaeus, 1760) (Mycetophagidae), Dacne bipustulata (Thunberg, 1781) and D. pontica (Bedel, 1868) (Erotylidae). It has been established that three main trophic groups of Coleoptera are associated with xylotrophic fungi, among which more than 76% were specialized mycetobionts – obligate mycetophagans, for which fungi are the only or predominant food source. Over 21% accounted for the share of mixophagans and only 3% of the species complex falls on the third group – predators (zoophagous).

Augyles (Augyles) marmota (Kiesenwetter, 1850) Material examined. 4 exs. RUSSIA: Orenburg Oblast: Orenburg, bank of Ural River, Petropavovskaya Grove, at light, 15.07.2012, leg. A.S. Ukrainsky, 4 exs. (IBIW). Distribution in European Russia and Caucasus: VL: SAM UR: ORB (Litovkin et al. 2013: as Augyles sp.; Sazhnev & Kozminykh 2019). Armenia (Mascagni 2016). Distribution. Species distributed in Europe (including southern Ural) Asian Turkey, Mongolia and North Africa (Mascagni 2016; Sazhnev & Kozminykh 2019). Remarks. Comparison of examined specimens (as well as Mongolian specimens) with European material and types is required. The diagnosis of the taxon Augyles marmota and the list of its synonyms needs revision. It is possible that more than one species is hidden under this name. [Augyles (Augyles) nebulosus (Kuwert, 1890)] Distribution in Caucasus. Azerbaijan: Agdash (Aresh, Geok Tepe), Mingachevir (Zaitsev 1946; Sazhnev 2018b). Distribution. The species was described from Turkmenistan (Kuwert, 1890), is distributed in Caucasus (Azerbaijan) and Middle Asia (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan) (Mascagni 2016). Remarks. There is no indication for Azerbaijan in the Palaearctic Catalogue (Mascagni 2016), it is necessary to add E: AB., Published as part of Sazhnev, Alexey S., 2022, Variegated mud-loving beetles (Heteroceridae) of Russia and adjacent countries genus Augyles of European part of Russia and Caucasus Region, pp. 581-593 in Zootaxa 5209 (5) on page 587, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5209.5.5, http://zenodo.org/record/7340995, {"references":["Litovkin, S. Distribution. Holarctic species (Charpentier 1979; Mascagni 2016) with a disjunction of the range on the Black Sea coast of the North Caucasus (Zaitsev 1946). Species was described from Germany, distributed in North and Central Europe, Central Asia (northern Kazakhstan and Mongolia), West and East Siberia, Russian Far East, North America (Mascagni 2016; Sazhnev 2020). Remarks. The first record this species for Caucasus was make as Augyles seriepilosus Motschulsky, 1860 (Zaitsev 1916), which F.A. Zaitsev considered as probably synonym of Augyles intermedius species (Zaitsev 1946). But Augyles seriepilosus (species dubius) was described from East Siberia (Transbaikal Region) (Motschulsky 1860), specimen of « Augyles seriepilosus » with Motschulsky labels is in ZISP collection, and it possible refers to Asian species Augyles interspidulus (Charpentier, 1979). DYTISCIDAE ,HYDROPHILIDAE ,BEETLES ,SOUND recordings ,NEARCTIC ecozone - Abstract
New faunistic data are presented for six water beetle families from Mongolia. The family Dryopidae, with the genus Dryops Olivier, 1791, and the genus Platambus Thomson, 1859 of the family Dytiscidae are recorded for the first time from Mongolia. Agabus semipunctatus (Kirby, 1837), previously known only from the Nearctic Region, is reported for the first time from the Palearctic. Eight species of water beetles are recorded for the first time from Mongolia: Dytiscidae (6): Agabus mandsuricus (Guignot, 1956), A. semipunctatus, Platambus maculatus (Linnaeus, 1758), Hydroporus cf. breviusculus Poppius, 1905, H. goldschmidti Gschwendtner, 1923, H. striola (Gyllenhal, 1826); Hydrophilidae (1): Laccobius binotatus Orchymont, 1934; Dryopidae (1): Dryops similaris Bollow, 1936. The presence of Rhantus suturalis (Macleay, 1825) is confirmed for the fauna of Mongolia. First province records are listed for 41 species, and for four species of Hydraenidae, the list of literature-based province records provided by Prokin et al. (2020) is supplemented or respectively corrected. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

NATURE reserves , *BEETLES , *RIPARIAN plants - Abstract
A review of the aquatic and semi-aquatic beetles collected from the 'Sarykumskie Barkhany' section of the Dagestan Nature Reserve is provided. Altogether, 61 water-associated and terrestrial (Helophorus nubilus Fabricius, 1777 and three species of Cercyon Leach, 1817) beetle species are recorded from this territory, of which 44 species are recorded for the first time from the studied area, 18 species are newly reported from the Dagestan Republic, and eight species are newly recorded from the North Caucasus Region. Ochthebius lividipennis Peyron, 1858 (Hydraenidae) is reported for the first time from Russia. Also, because of possible discovery of Dryops caspius (Ménétries, 1832) (Dryopidae) in the territory considered, the lectotype of this species is designated in the current work. Background The paper is based on the dataset whose purpose was to deliver, in the form of GBIFmediated data, diverse materials on the biodiversity of a large mire, Shichengskoe mire (Vologda Region, north-western Russia), including its various mire sites and intra-mire water bodies. The dataset was based on our materials collected for two decades (from 2000 to 2021) in different parts and biotopes of the Shichengskoe mire and complemented by scarce data obtained previously by other researchers. The data contain materials on the diversity of Animalia (2886 occurrences), Bacteria (22), Chromista (256), Fungi (111), Plantae (2463) and Protozoa (131). Within the study period, the most detailed and longterm biodiversity studies were carried out for higher plants and invertebrates. On the other hand, the data on the composition of lichens, protozoa, algae, basidiomycetes, some groups of invertebrates and, to a lesser extent, lichens and vertebrates are far less comprehensive and require further substantial research efforts. The list includes occurrences from both the peatland (mire sites and mire margins different in typology) and the objects of the mire hydrographic network. In a standardised form, this article summarises both already published (mainly in Russian) and unpublished materials. New information The paper summarises the results of long-term research on the biodiversity of a boreal mire, including its hydrographic network. A total of 5869 occurrences were included in the dataset published in the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF, gbif.org) for the first time. According to the GBIF taxonomic backbone, the dataset covers 1358 taxa, including 1250 lower-rank taxa (species, subspecies, varieties, forms) and 108 taxa identified to the genus level. Several species found in the Shichengskoe mire, mainly belonging to Bacteria, Chromista and Protozoa, have never been listed in GBIF for the territory of Russia before. The overwhelming majority of occurrences and identified species came from the territory of Shichengskiy Landscape Reserve. Due to our work, this Reserve is now the most studied regional reserve in the Vologda Region with respect to biodiversity. By the number of revealed species, it is close to two federal protected areas: Darwinskiy State Nature Biospheric Reserve and National Park "Russkiy Sever". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Augyles (Augyles) letovi sp. nov. (Figs 1, 2) Type locality. N Vietnam, Ha Bnh Province. Type material. Holotype: 15.01.1976 Bьeтнaм, Xao бинь, Л. H. Meдвeдeв, УФ cвeт, 36 [15.01.1976 Vietnam, Ha Bnh, L.N. Medvedev, UV light, 36in Russian], ♂ (ZISP). Paratype: 15.01.1976 Bьeтнaм, Xao бинь, Л. H. Meдвeдeв, УФ cвeт, 33 [18.01.1976 Vietnam, Ha Bnh, L.N. Medvedev, UV light, 33in Russian], ♀ (IBIW). Description. Holotype, ♂. Total length 3.2 mm (from apex of labrum to apex of elytra). Body (Fig. 1) moderately elongated, dorsoventrally compressed. Head light brown, with dense whitish pubescence and longer scattered setae; mandibles average, not hypertrophied, with acute apex; eyes well developed, antennae with 10 antennomeres, apical 7 antennomeres forming club; clypeus without pair of anterior horns, with dense and short setae, labrum dark brown. Pronotum light brown, with disc darker, evenly wide or slightly narrower than elytra at base, rectangular, densely punctured, bordered posteriorly, laterally with dense whitish pubescence and longer setae. Elytra with pale brown spots (Fig. 1), densely and uniformely punctate, with dense whitish pubescence; elytral longitudinal ridges only slightly indicated. Setae of elytra short, sparse, semierect. Legs light brown, densely pubescent; tibiae with numerous spines and long setae. Abdomen light brown, stridulatory arch marked; postmetacoxal line present. Aedeagus (0.7 mm long) and spiculum gastrale (V-shaped) as in Fig. 2. Paratype, ♀. Total length 3.3 mm (from apex of labrum to apex of elytra). Externally similar to male, but mandible, head and pronotum smaller. Head and pronotum brown. Variability. Body size 3.23.3 mm. Males and females are very difficult to separate without examination of the genitalia. Elytral markings slightly differ in two studied specimens (spots of holotype specimen is more contrasting). Differential diagnosis. Based on the shape of the male genitalia, and shape of the elytral pattern, Augyles letovi sp. nov. is probably most related to the south-east Asian species Augyles rejseki Skalick, 1999 (described from Thailand) and Augyles hiekei (Mascagni, 1995) (described from Vietnam). A. letovi differs from A. rejseki by the tegmen, having lateral margin evenly curved (not dentate) and possessing paired sclerotized elements in basal part (Fig. 2). A. letovi differs from A. hiekei also by the structure of tegmen presence possessing paired sclerotized elements in basal part. Ecology. All specimens were collected at light. Distribution. So far known only from the type locality. Etymology. Dedicated to Igor Fedorovich Yegor Letov, Russian poet, musician, singer, songwriter, audio engineer and conceptual art painter, best known as the founder and leader of the post-punk/psychedelic rock band Grazhdanskaya Oborona (Civil Defense)., Published as part of Sazhnev, Alexey S., 2018, A new species of the genus Augyles Schidte, 1866 (Coleoptera: Heteroceridae) from Vietnam, pp. 597-599 in Zootaxa 4521 (4) on pages 597-599, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4521.4.9, http://zenodo.org/record/2610192, {"references":["Skalicky, S. Body moderately elongated, dorsal-ventrally compressed (Fig. 1). Males and females do not differ. Aedeagus as in Fig. 3. Heterocerus fausti is similar in body form and drawing of elytra on Heterocerus parallelus but can be easily distinguished by the shape of its aedeagus (Fig. 4AB) and smaller size. Redescription. Color. Ground color is yellow or red-yellow; a combination of black-brown blotches on the pronotum, and brown blotches of elytra and abdomen form a characteristic pattern. Head and labrum are black-brown. Antennae completely yellow. Pronotum is black-brown with a more or less wide yellow edging on the sides and narrow yellow stripe along the front edge. Scutellum is black-brown. Drawing of elytra characteristic of flexuosus species-group sensu Charpentier (1965). Yellow pattern of each elytron normally forms edging, S-shaped basal mark, M-shaped medial mark, apical spot and suture stripe. Dark pattern of the elytra brownish almost blending with the yellow background. Prosternum black-brown with yellow episternae and yellowish front margin. Mesepisternum and metepisternum blackbrown. Abdomen black-brown with yellow pattern in form of edging. Legs, except dark metacoxa, yellow. Head. Clypeus transversal, widely incised on the front edge. Antennae 11-segmented with 7-segment club. Hairs whitish. Puncturing uniform. Thorax. Pronotum not bordered basally; slightly narrower or comparable in width with base of elytra in females, and slightly wider than elytra base in males. Hairs on the disc are double: comprise dense, short, pressed, and long and standing hairs; whitish. Puncturing very dense, fine and uniform. Elytra covered with erect hairs; hair length is comparable with the length of few first spines of mesotibia; hairs slightly longer along sides and near the elytral apex; hairs whitish. Legs of structure typical for family, covered with whitish hairs. Claws of tarsus noticeably longer or equal to the last tarsomere (Fig. 2). Abdomen. Abdomen covered with whitish hairs. Postmetacoxal lines absent. Remarks. The records of Heterocerus fausti for Uzbekistan (Jacobson, 1913; Zaitsev, 1946) are not confirmed. Specimen from Uzbekistan (Qamashi) signed of F.A. Zaitsev as Heterocerus fausti is Heterocerus heydeni Kuwert, 1890. Ecology. The long claws are probably an adaptation to the psammophilous way of life. Distribution. Pre-Caspian Region including Caucasus: Azerbaijan, West Turkmenistan (Fig. 5)., Published as part of Sazhnev, Alexey S., 2018, Redescription of Heterocerus fausti Reitter, 1879, bona species (Coleoptera, Heteroceridae), pp. 597-600 in Zootaxa 4441 (3) on pages 597-600, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4441.3.12, http://zenodo.org/record/1301560, {"references":["Reitter, E.
