Background: The present study was conducted to assess the determinants of the intention to receive the COVID-19 vaccination among the Iranian population.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 1,056 individuals of the general population living in Hamadan County were studied from April to June 2021. Using a proportional stratified sampling method, subjects were selected from those covered by 34 comprehensive health service centers and health bases. Then, the subjects were selected by simple random sampling. Data were collected by sending a questionnaire link to eligible individuals, who completed it online. The questionnaire determined demographic data and constructs of the Theory of Planned Behavior. Results: 1,056 subjects answered the study; women accounted for 57.9% of the respondents. According to the findings, the majority of respondents (79.5%) reported that they would strongly agree and agree to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Older age, male gender, occupation, underlying chronic disease, death of relatives and friends due to COVID-19, and history of influenza vaccinations were significantly related to the intention to get vaccinated against COVID-19 (P>0.05). Also, the intention was associated with increased scores in the attitude toward the behavior, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control.Conclusion: Despite doubt about the details of the intention to receive COVID-19 vaccination, most subjects reported intending to be vaccinated against COVID-19, but the real rate of vaccination may be lower. Vaccination intention reflects overall vaccination attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Zielsetzung: Die Studie wurde durchgeführt, um die Determinanten für die Absicht, sich mit COVID-19-Impfstoff impfen zu lassen, in der iranischen Bevölkerung zu ermitteln.Methode: In die Querschnittsstudie wurden 1.056 Personen der Allgemeinbevölkerung im Bezirk Hamadan, Iran, von April bis Juni 2021 eingeschlossen. Mithilfe einer proportionalen, geschichteten Stichprobenmethode wurden die Probanden aus 34 Gesundheitszentren bzw. Gesundheitsstützpunkten ausgewählt. An die mittels einfacher Zufallsstichprobe ausgewählten Probanden wurde ein Fragebogen-Link versandt und online ausgefüllt. Mit dem Fragebogen wurden demografische Daten und Konstrukte der Theorie des geplanten Verhaltens ermittelt. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Resistance to chemotherapy is one of the most important problems in treatment of patients diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Pathway interruption of the phosphatidylinositol -3 kinase (PI3K) and its relation to resistance phenomena cause the inhibitors of this pathway, particularly buparlisib are introduced as one of the most promising cancer drugs. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of PI3K pathway inhibition on reducing the survival and induction of apoptosis in Nalm-6 cells using buparlisib. METHODS: In this experimental study, the phosphorylation level of Akt was evaluated using western blot to measure the effect of buparlisib on PI3K/Akt pathway in Nalm-6 cells. Nalm-6 cells were treated with different concentrations of buparlisib (0.5-4 µM) for 24, 36 and 48 hours to study the cytotoxic effect of this inhibitor and then, the metabolic activity, induction of apoptosis and changesinexpression of genes involvedinapoptosis were evaluated using MTT assay, Annexin/PI staining and Rq-PCR, respectively. FINDINGS: Results showed that PI3K pathway inhibition using buparlisib causes the cytotoxic effect on Nalm-6 cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner through reducing p-Akt. These findings suggested that probably, the anti-leukemic effect of buparlisib is mediated through almost 17-fold increase in apoptotic cells (p≤0.001) and rising the mRNA expression level of pro-apoptotic genes (p≤0.01). CONCLUSION: The results indicated that buparlisib has anti-tumor activity against Nalm-6 cells so this inhibitor can be used as a promising agent for the treatment of ALL.

Due to several advantages and widespread applications of magnetic Nanoparticles in biotechnology, medical, material science, engineering, and environmental areas, much attention has been paid to the synthesis of different kinds of Biomagnetic nanoparticles (BMNPs). Core-shell nanoparticles include of coated various materials like: biopolymers (Chitosan, PAA) and bioceramics (Hydroxyapatite) as a shell on top of them and different hard and soft materials like metal oxide (Iron oxide and Cob alt composite) as a core. Improved properties of core-shell nanoparticles like less cytotoxicity, increase biocompatibility, decrease in an interactions with biomolecules, increase physicochemical stability and sort of that, can be due to their use in biological applications. After reviewing several research and review articles and synthesis procedure of Iron based Bio-magnetic Nanoparticles (BMNPs), we should emphasize that, It can be used in different applications like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), drug delivery systems (DDS), immunoassay, also specially in diagnosis and treatment of cancer via hyperthermia (heat therapy) method.

Many-cores systems on chip provide the highest performance scaling potential due to the massive parallelism, but they suffer from thermal issues due to the high power densities. Furthermore, workload and process variation requires performance run-time adaptation based on feedback controllers, as open-loop control is not sufficiently robust and accurate. The Single-Chip Cloud Computer (SCC) is an experimental processor created by Intel Labs and, as most multi-core prototypes, it integrates thermal sensors to track the thermal behavior of the die. Unfortunately these sensors are not calibrated, preventing the development of thermal management solutions. In this paper we first extensively characterize the SCC thermal sensors and propose a system level technique to calibrate them. Our approach is based on the combination of stress patterns and least-square fitting to extract the thermal sensor characterization directly from the SCC device. Compared to other strategies this method requires only the knowledge of the ambient temperature under the minimum chip power consumption.

Background andAim:Sinceproteasome is strongly considered to be involved in thedevelopment and progression of a wide variety of hematological malignanciesin particular,multiple myeloma, blockage ofthis hemostasis system with different types of proteasomeinhibitorsseems to bea promising way of treatment for multiple myeloma.In this study, weinvestigatedthe effect of Kyprolis, a new irreversible proteasome inhibitor (PI), on thesurvival rate of multiplemyeloma-derived KMM-1 cell line.Material andMethods:To evaluate whether inhibition of proteasome using Kyprolis couldexert cytotoxic effect in multiple myeloma, KMM-1 cells werecultured withdifferentconcentrations (25-150 nM) of the inhibitorfor 24 and48 hours. Then trypan blue exclusionassay, MTT assay, flocytometric cell cycle analysiswere performedandwe evaluated geneexpression changes associated with apoptosis.Results:The resultsof this studydemonstrated that Kyprolisinducedboth cytotoxic and anti-proliferative effectsonKMM-1 cells. This inhibitor is able to reduce the cell survival andmetabolic activity inadose-andalsotime-dependent manner (p≤0.001). Moreover, wefound that Kyprolisincreasedcell populationinG1 phase of cell cycle to 52.33% probablythrough up-regulation of p73 gene expression (p≤0.05). Exposing multiple myeloma cells tothis proteasome inhibitor also ledto induction of apoptosis probably through alterationsin thegene expression of pro-and anti-apoptotic related genes (p≤0.05).Conclusions:The results of this study clearly indicated that Kyprolis had anti-tumor activityagainst KMM-1 cells.

Tight timing/area constraints produce on-chip layouts with non-regular shapes for RTL entities. Thus, grid-like floorplans where RTL entities are abstracted as rectangular blocks for thermal simulation lead to inaccurate results. In addition, spatial and temporal variability of chip workload causes localized temperature variations. Exact localization of hotspots at gate-level necessitates an extremely detailed spatial resolution which is very computationally intensive. We propose MiMAPT, a tool capable of performing thermal simulation at RT and gate-level with multiple scales of spatiotemporal resolution. To demonstrate the tool advantages we run various tests for a sample chip. We show that our tool provides high level of flexibility in terms of speed vs. accuracy of results.

Single-chip many-core systems bring new challenges owing to the large number of operating points and the shift to message passing interface (MPI) from shared memory communication. DVFS, however, has been mostly studied on single-chip systems with one or few cores, without considering the impact of the communication among cores. This paper evaluates the impact of frequency scaling on the performance and power of many-core systems with MPI. We conduct experiments on the Single-Chip Cloud Computer (SCC), an experimental many-core processor developed by Intel. The paper first introduces the run-time monitoring infrastructure and the application suite we have designed for an in-depth evaluation of the SCC. We provide an extensive analysis quantifying the effects of frequency perturbations on performance and energy efficiency.
