We investigate the potential association between leucine-rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) mutations and voice. Sustained phonations ('aaah' sounds) were recorded from 7 individuals with LRRK2-associated Parkinson's disease (PD), 17 participants with idiopathic PD (iPD), 20 non-manifesting LRRK2-mutation carriers, 25 related non-carriers, and 26 controls. In distinguishing LRRK2-associated PD and iPD, the mean sensitivity was 95.4% (SD 17.8%) and mean specificity was 89.6% (SD 26.5%). Voice features for non-manifesting carriers, related non-carriers, and controls were much less discriminatory. Vocal deficits in LRRK2-associated PD may be different than those in iPD. We investigate the stability under variation of the renormalization, factorization and energy scales entering the calculation of the cross section, at next-to-leading order in the BFKL formalism, for the production of Mueller-Navelet jets at the Large Hadron Collider, following the experimental cuts on the tagged jets. To find optimal values for the scales involved in this observable it is possible to look for regions of minimal sensitivity to their variation. We show that the scales found with this logic are more natural, in the sense of being more similar to the squared transverse momenta of the tagged jets, when the BFKL kernel is improved with a resummation of collinear contributions than when the treatment is at a purely next-to-leading order. We also discuss the good perturbative convergence of the ratios of azimuthal angle correlations, which are quite insensitive to collinear resummations and well described by the original BFKL framework., Comment: 25 pages, 13 figures, 7 tables

We study Drell-Yan plus jet events where the gauge boson is produced in the forward direction of one of the colliding protons and a jet is produced in the forward direction of the second proton. The resulting large rapidity difference between the final states then opens up the phase space for BFKL evolution. Using Monte Carlo integration techniques, we investigate running coupling effects compatible with the high energy bootstrap condition to all orders in the strong coupling in evolution equations valid at small values of Bjorken x in deep inelastic scattering. A model for the running of the coupling with analytic behavior in the infrared region and compatible with power corrections to jet observables is used. As a difference to the fixed coupling case, where the momentum transfer acts as an effective strong cut-off of the diffusion to infrared scales, in our running coupling study the dependence on the momentum transfer is much milder.

The proton structure function F2 is studied in the low x regime using BFKL evolution. The next to leading logarithmic (NLL) analysis requires the inclusion of running coupling effects which lead to off-diagonal terms in the evolution kernel. An all-orders resummation is used to improve the collinear behavior of the NLL BFKL result. An iterative solution best suited for a Monte Carlo implementation is presented for the non-forward BFKL equation in a generic color representation. We study the exclusive production of heavy flavors at central rapidities in hadron-hadron collisions within the kT factorisation formalism. Since this involves regions of small Bjorken x in the unintegrated gluon densities, we include the next-to-leading order BFKL contributions working directly in transverse momentum representation. The supersymmetric product of a supercurve is constructed with the aid of a theorem of algebraic invariants and the notion of positive relative superdivisor (supervortex) is introduced. A supercurve of positive superdivisors of degree 1 (supervortices of vortex number 1) of the original supercurve is constructed as its supercurve of conjugate fermions, as well as the supervariety of relative positive superdivisors of degre p (supervortices of vortex number p.) A universal superdivisor is defined and it is proved that every positive relative superdivisor can be obtained in a unique way as a pull-back of the universal superdivisor.
