[ES] El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el efecto de la infusión de Mentha spicata L. sobre el rendimiento y las características organolépticas de los pollos de engorde Cobb 500. Se siguió el manejo, la bioseguridad y el bienestar de las aves para los sistemas de casas abiertas, utilizando un diseño completamente al azar (CRD). Se utilizaron 200 pollos mixtos de 1 día de edad, para evaluar los efectos de los tratamientos durante 35 días. Se distribuyeron en cinco tratamientos, con cuatro réplicas, de 10 aves cada uno a los siguientes grupos: T1 (control), T2 (infusión de M. spicata al 10%), T3 (infusión de M. spicata al 20%), T4 (Infusión de M. spicata al 30%) y T5 (infusión de M. spicata al 40%). Las variables estudiadas fueron el rendimiento de pollos de engorde, el peso de la canal y las características organolépticas. Los datos se procesaron utilizando el programa estadístico Statgraphics Centurión XV.I, realizando un análisis multivariado de la varianza y determinando los factores con efecto, y un ANOVA por semana para las variables productivas; se elaboraron tablas de contingencia con los datos de los indicadores organolépticos para determinar las diferencias (Prueba de Chi-cuadrado). Los resultados muestran que la administración de M. spicata L. al agua de bebida no tiene efecto sobre el rendimiento de los pollos de engorde, con la excepción del consumo de alimento, que disminuye, lo que refleja un efecto similar sobre el peso visceral. La presencia de flavonoides en la planta disminuyó el grosor de la grasa abdominal porque favorece el metabolismo de los lípidos de las aves. No hubo diferencia en el olor de la carne, sin embargo, hubo diferencias significativas en los parámetros de sabor, terneza y jugosidad., [EN] The objective of this research was evaluate the effect of Mentha spicata L. infusion on the productive performance and organoleptic characteristics of Cobb 500 broilers. The management, biosecurity and welfare of birds for open houses systems were followed using a completely random design (CRD). In order to evaluate treatments effects during 35 days, 200 1-day-old mixed chickens were distributed in five treatments, with four réplicas, of 10 birds each in the following groups: T1 (control), T2 (M. spicata infusion at 10%), T3 (M. spicata infusion at 20%), T4 (M. spicata infusion at 30%) and T5 (M. spicata infusion at 40%). The variables studied were broilers productives performance, carcass weight, abdominal fat and organoleptic characteristics. The data was processed using statistical program Statgraphics Centurión XV.I, performing a multivariate analysis of variance and determining the factors with effect, and ANOVA of productive variables per week; contingency tables were prepared with organoleptic indicators data to determine differences (Chi-square test). Results show no effect on productive parameters up to 30% per liter because a decrease in feed consumption in the slaugther week for T5 (40% of infusion) which indicate a limit of infusion use; the principal effects on infusion M. spicata L was on abdominal fat which was lower thickness in T4 (30%) and T5 (40%) maybe due to the presence of flavonoids in the mint plant, which have a positive effect on lipid metabolism, resulting in a lean product. Dinoflagellaten haben nur eine oberflächliche Namensähnlichkeit mit den Dinosauriern (vom altgriechischen δεινός/ deinós = schrecklich); ihr Name leitet sich von dem altgriechischen δινος/dinos (wirbeln) ab und beschreibt die charakteristische Schwimmbewegung dieser mit dem bloßen Auge nicht direkt wahrnehmbaren Protisten. Die Bedeutung der sehr diversen und mit vielen faszinierenden Facetten aufwartenden Einzellergruppe ist nicht zu unterschätzen. So sind sie u. a. wichtige Produzenten und Konsumenten in aquatischen Nahrungsnetzen, Symbionten in Korallen, Parasiten mariner Organismen sowie dem Menschen gefährlich werdende Giftproduzenten. Auch morphologisch, biochemisch und genetisch besitzen Dinoflagellaten Besonderheiten, die sie zu einer der interessantesten eukaryotischen Gruppen machen.

RESUMEN: Los lixiviados producidos en el relleno sanitario clausurado Curva de Rodas de la ciudad de Medellín se catalogan como “lixiviados maduros”, estos se caracterizan por ser un residuo poco biodegradable. En este trabajo se evalúa la eficiencia de cinco posibles tratamientos fisicoquímicos: adsorción con 5 tipos de carbón activado granular (CAG), adsorción con Zeolita tipo A, oxidación Fenton, precipitación química con Ca(OH)2 y coagulaciónfloculación con Sulfato de Aluminio Tipo A. Mediante la adsorción con CAG se alcanzaron remociones de hasta 39% para DQO y 50% para Color. En el caso de adsorción con Zeolita tipo A se lograron remociones de hasta 3% en DQO y 7% en Color. En los ensayos de precipitación química se lograron remociones máximas de 16% en DQO y 50% en color y por el proceso de coagulación-floculación hasta del 27% en DQO y del 63% en color. Los mejores resultados se obtuvieron con el proceso de oxidación Fenton, neutralizando con NaOH se lograron remociones máximas de 95% en DQO y 97% en color. Al neutralizar con lixiviado sin tratar las remociones alcanzadas fueron de hasta 79% en DQO y 87% en color. ABSTRACT: Leachates produced in the closed landfill Curva de Rodas in Medellin, Colombia are catalogued as mature leachates. These are characterized as poorly biodegradable waste containing organic compounds such as fulvic and humic acids, heavy metals, ammonia, nitrogen, and salts. In this paper five possible physicochemical leachate treatments are evaluated: adsorption with five types of granular activated carbon (GAC), adsorption with zeolite type A, Fenton oxidation, chemical precipitation by Ca(OH)2, and coagulationflocculation with aluminum sulfide type A. The treatments are compared in terms of their capacity to remove Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and color. GAC adsorption removals of up to 39% for COD and 50% for color were achieved. In the case of the adsorption with zeolite type A, negligible removals of COD and color were achieved (3% and 7% respectively). Removals using the Fenton oxidation and neutralization with NaOH reached up to 95% for COD and 97% for color. When additionally neutralized with raw leachate the removals were up to 79% for COD and 87% for color. Finally in the chemical precipitation tests, removals of 27% for COD and 63% for color were achieved. Clearly, Fenton oxidation was identified as the most appropriate treatment process.

Se operaron dos sistemas de tratamiento biológico (anaerobio-anóxico-aerobio –A2O– o tren I y aerobio- -anóxico o tren II, modificados con la adición de AnoxKaldnes como medio de soporte en las cámaras aerobias), en la eliminación simultánea de materia orgánica y nutrientes (nitrógeno y fósforo). Los arreglos contaron con un crecimiento de biomasa en suspensión en cámaras anaerobia y anóxicas y combinado (suspendido y adherido) en las aerobias. Durante la experimentación se garantizaron tasas de recirculación aerobio-anóxico que varían entre 100 y 300 %, aplicadas en iguales periodos experimentales, así mismo desde el sedimentador secundario hacia la cámara anaerobia en el tren I y hacia la anóxica en el tren II, con tasas del 100 %. El tiempo de retención hidráulica (TRH) varió entre 10 y 24 horas por tren y el tiempo de retención de sólidos (TRS) se mantuvo entre 15 y 20 días. Los procesos fueron evaluados empleando agua residual sintética, similar en composición al agua residual doméstica, preparada a partir de suero de leche en polvo y con la adición de macronutrientes y micronutrientes. Two different systems of biological treatment were operated (anaerobic-anoxic-aerobic –A2O–, namely, arrangement I, and aerobic-anoxic, namely, arrangement II). After modification by the addition of AnoxKaldnes as a support medium for the aerobic chambers, they were used in the simultaneously elimination of organic material and two nutrients:nitrogen and phosphorus. The arrangements involved the growing of suspending biomass in anaerobic and anoxic chambers, and combined (suspended and attached) in the aerobic chambers. During the experiments, recirculation rates (aerobic-anoxic) within 100 and 300% were guaranteed, applied in the same experimental periods, from the secondary settler toward the anaerobic chamber in the arrangement I and toward the anoxic chamber in arrangement II, with rates of 100%. The hydraulic retention time (HRT) varied within 10 and 24 hours per arrangement, and the solids retention time (SRT) remained between 15 and 20 days. The processes were evaluated using synthetic residual water with composition similar to the found in the domestic residual water; it was prepared from milk powder whey with the addition of macro and micro-nutrients.

7 p. Las fibras naturales pueden ser empleadas como reforzantes para matrices poliméricas. Sin embargo, su alta tendencia hidrofílica genera problemas de compatibilidad con las matrices generalmente hidrofobas e incrementan la tendencia a la captación de humedad. En este estudio dos tratamientos sobre la fibra, un proceso alcalino y una silanización han sido analizados. Composites realizados con resina epóxica tipo DGEBA y fibras de fique tratadas y sin tratar fueron sumergidos en agua corriente y destilada por más de 3575 h. Incrementos en el desempeño mecánico a flexión de los composites y reducciones en el peso de las muestras debido a la presencia del agua son observadas, cambios que posiblemente guardan relación con las variaciones en la interfase fibra-matriz registradas. Natural fiber bundles can be employed as reinforcements of polymeric matrices. However, the high hidrophibility tendency of natural fiber bundles conditioned their potential applications, due to incompatibility with the polymeric matrix and the high tendency to moisture sorption. In this study, two fiber bundle treatment as alkaline and silanization process have been evaluated. Untreated and treated epoxy composites reinforced with fique fibers have been immersed in current and destiled water for 3575 h. Both treatments improve flexural behavior of composites, and reduce their moisture caption. However, at higher exposure time, significant reduction on flexural behavior is observed.
