Defesa : Curitiba, 28/09/2021 Inclui referências Resumo: A presente pesquisa refere-se ao desenvolvimento de diretrizes para aprimorar o método de orçamentação de obra por meio de modelos BIM 5D. Uma pesquisa-ação foi adotada como procedimento, buscando aplicar dentro de uma construtora o procedimento proposto. Preliminarmente, uma revisão bibliográfica em conjunto com análises de documentos e observações diretas foram realizadas, visando identificar inconsistências na prática tradicional adotada pela Empresa. Em seguida, mediante observação participante, algoritmos foram desenvolvidos para automatizar o processo de orçamentação. As diretrizes criadas foram avaliadas por meio de uma aplicação direta em um empreendimento modelado em BIM 5D. Foram comparados os resultados obtidos por meio de planilhas orçamentárias obtidas no método tradicional de orçamentação e no procedimento proposto. A avaliação das diretrizes constatou aperfeiçoamentos na técnica orçamentária utilizada anteriormente pela construtora, observando reduções de aproximadamente 73% no tempo de execução de estimativas de custos e aumento na precisão dos orçamentos. Por intermédio das diretrizes propostas, este estudo pretende contribuir na discussão e desenvolvimento de técnicas que aprimorem a qualidade de orçamentos que utilizam o conceito BIM 5D. Abstract: This research refers to the development of guidelines to improve the cost estimation process through 5D BIM models. Action research was adopted as a method, searching to apply the proposed procedure within a construction company. Preliminarily, a bibliographic review together with document analysis and direct references was performed, identifying inconsistencies in the traditional practice adopted by the Company. Then, through participant observation, algorithms were developed to automate the estimation process. The general guidelines were evaluated through a direct application to a project modeled in 5D BIM. The results obtained through cost estimation spreadsheets in the traditional estimation method and the proposed procedure were compared. The evaluation of the guidelines found improvements in the budgeting technique previously used by the construction company, noting reductions of approximately 73% in the execution time of the process and an increase in the accuracy of the cost estimation. Through the proposed guidelines, this study intends to contribute to the discussion and development of techniques that improve the quality of cost estimations that uses the 5D BIM concept.

Determining the socio-ecological effects of increased aquaculture/farmed fish production through the granting of new licenses to the industry around the island group of Frøya in Trøndelag, Norway, is explored in this paper. This is investigated from a stakeholder perspective, assessing the adaptive capacity of the given community in each region through workshops combining Scenario Analysis, Systems Thinking and Bayesian Belief Network, developing conceptual frameworks and influence diagrams visualizing the perceived effects of the industry on the given stakeholder system. This adaptive capacity is critical to explore before a de facto industry expansion. This is because there can be context-specific adaptation policies and measures that can be pursued that reduce a given stakeholder group´s vulnerability to negative consequences of industry expansion. Policy makers’ a priori knowledge of these variables can lessen conflicts that may arise as a result of stakeholder discontent with top-down approaches to fisheries management. It can also bring a legitimizing aspect to the political process leading to integrated coastal zone management (IZCM) in the region for affected stakeholder groups, possibly lessening simmering conflicts., Consilience, No 11 (2014): Issue Eleven: 2014

Evidence suggests that among Hispanic/Latino populations in the United States, perceived discrimination is a significant stressor that may be a risk factor for unhealthy behaviors such as alcohol use, smoking and negative health outcomes such as depression. However, the Hispanic/Latino population might have different susceptibilities to the stressors of discrimination based on their specific heritage as they continue to be portrayed as a homogeneous group while disregarding the unique heritage-specific attributes that constitute this larger ethnic population. Aims : The aims of this dissertation were : (1) To examine whether self-reports of perceived discrimination across different Hispanic/Latino heritage groups were associated with alcohol use and abuse. (2) To determine whether reports of perceived discrimination across different Hispanic/Latino heritage groups were associated with smoking and (3) To assess the association between migration, discrimination and depressive symptoms among a population of indigenous Mayan migrants. Methods : In Chapters 2 and 3, 16,415 individuals who self-identified as Hispanic/Latino and were between the ages of 18-74 were randomly selected, recruited and interviewed by the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos in the communities of The Bronx, New York; Chicago, Illinois; San Diego, California and Miami, Florida. Perceived discrimination and its association with alcohol use and smoking were explored. In Chapter 4, a total of 650 individuals of Tunkaseño heritage (a community of indigenous Maya from the Mexican state of Yucatán) were recruited binationally in the town of Tunkás and the satellite communities of Anaheim and Inglewood, California by The Mexican Migration Field Research Program staff. We assessed the association between migration history, religiosity and perceived discrimination. Results : Chapter 2 found that individuals of Cuban heritage who reported perceived discrimination were significantly more likely to report alcohol use. In Chapter 3 no significant association was found between those who reported perceived discrimination and smoking after controlling for identified psychosocial variables and alcohol use. Chapter 4 found that migration experience and current U.S. residence was associated with perceived discrimination, which in turn was associated with a higher risk for depressive symptoms, but this finding was not supported in gender-stratified analyses. Among women not living in the U.S, religiosity was associated with less discrimination. Also discrimination was found to be pervasive among male and female transnational and domestic migrants while religiosity served as a possible protective factor against discrimination for some women. Conclusions : Results from these studies have important implications for the development and restructuring of programs designed to assist Hispanics/Latinos with substance abuse or depression. Public health programs should include perceived discrimination and migration history as a potential risk for substance use and negative mental health outcomes, and be tailored individually to Hispanic/ Latino heritage

In this study, a method will be developed and applied for estimating biological migration parameters of the biomass of a fishery resource by means of a decision analysis of the spatial behavior of the fleet. First, a model of discrete selection is estimated, together with patch capture function. This will allow estimating the biomass availability on each patch. In the second regression, values of biomass are used in order to estimate a model of biological migration between patches. This method is proven in the Chilean jack mackerel fishery. This will allow estimating statistically significant migration parameters, identifying migration patterns. En este artículo se desarrolla y aplica una metodología para estimar parámetros biológicos de migración de la biomasa de un recurso pesquero, por medio del análisis de las decisiones del comportamiento espacial de la flota. Primero se estima un modelo de elección discreta, conjuntamente con una función agregada de captura por parche. Esto permite estimar la disponibilidad de biomasa en cada parche. En la segunda etapa se utilizan los valores de la biomasa para estimar un modelo de migración biológica entre parches. La metodología se aplica a una pesquería del jurel en Chile. Esto permite estimar parámetros de migración estadísticamente significativos, identificando patrones de migración.
