The cooking act is one of the primary sources of indoor air pollution. Frying is one of the oldest food processing methods that has received much attention in studies due to various pollutants. Oxidation of oil via the raising of temperature leads to the formation of alkadienals, known as precursors of monoaromatics hydrocarbons, such as benzene and toluene ethylbenzene, and xylene isomers (BTEX). The compounds have carcinogenic effects on human health and cause environmental effects by forming secondary organic aerosols (SOA) and ozone. Within this regard, many studies assessed the emission of the chemicals at the indoor area, stacks of commercial kitchens, and emission points, while they considered the effects of various factors like oil temperature, oil type, and additions on the formation of BTEX and another VOCs. Temperature as an accelerator factor has a direct relationship, while time has not shown specific emissions. The oils depend on their compositions, have different oxidative stability. Indeed, the oils with higher unsaturated contents are more susceptible to oxidation. Among unsaturated fatty acids, polyunsaturated than monounsaturated types have a higher oxidation rate. However, foods/additives can vary frying content compositions and influence emissions. Sexual dysfunction has been demonstrated to be related to a poor quality of life. These dysfunctions are especially prevalent among men. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the Persian translation of the Sexual Quality of Life–Male (SQOL-M), translated and adapted to measure sexual quality of life among Iranian men. Forward–backward procedures were applied in translating the original SQOL-M into Persian, and then the psychometric properties of the Persian translation of the SQOL-M were studied. A total of 181 participants (23-60 years old) were included in the study. Validity was assessed by construct validity using confirmatory factor analysis, convergent validity, and content validity. The international index of erectile function (IIEF) and the work ability index were used to study the convergent validity. Reliability was evaluated through internal consistency and test–retest reliability analyses. The results from confirmatory factor analysis confirmed a one-factor solution for the Persian version of the SQOL-M. Content validity of the translated measure was endorsed by 10 specialists. Pearson correlations indicated that work ability index score, dimensions of the IIEF, and the IIEF total score were positively correlated with the Persian version of the SQOL-M (p < .001). Reliability evaluation indicated a high internal consistency and test–retest reliability. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficients were .96 and .95, respectively. Background: Appropriate cognitive performance is vital for a firefighter, but many occupational factors can negatively affect it., Objective: This study assessed the correlation between job stress, burnout, and cognitive performance in firefighters., Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was conducted in three fire stations in Iran in 2023 with 61 participants, including 34 firefighters in the exposed group and 27 office workers in the control group. After ensuring the confidentiality of the obtained information and completing the demographic information checklist, Job stress and burnout levels were measured using standardized questionnaires, and cognitive functions were assessed using two computerized tests: Stroop and continuous performance., Results: The mean age and work experience of firefighters were 33.29±9.44 and 10.42±3.51 years, respectively. The firefighters' job stress and burnout levels were, on average, 163.12±9.18 and 88.89±4.28, respectively, significantly higher than those of the control group (P < 0.05). The results of the Pearson correlation test revealed a strong correlation (r = 0.719) between job stress and burnout. Pearson correlation coefficient (r = -0.512-0.757), yielded from psychological tests, demonstrated that firefighters' job stress and burnout had moderate to strong associations with certain indicators of Stroop and continuous performance tests., Conclusion: According to the obtained results, it is recommended to take fundamental measures to reduce occupational stress and burnout of firefighters as a factor affecting cognitive performance.
