Introductions: Multiple treatments for complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) have been promoted, although the degrees of supporting evidence vary and are often limited. This updated review aims to critically examine the data for treating Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) from current randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-RCTs. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted to identify all randomized controlled trials and non-randomized controlled trials addressing the rehabilitation of CRPS conducted on human subjects and published in English between 2018 and 2022 using The Cochrane Library, PubMed, and ScienceDirect (Elsevier). Results: The search yielded 6 RCTs and two non-RCTs of varying quality regarding the treatment of CRPS. 6 studies evaluate the treatment of CRPS, and two studies evaluate the prevention of CRPS. Conclusions: In conclusion, both manual manipulation and physical modality are safe and reliable procedures that provide good pain relief and functional improvement as treatment and prevention of CRPS. Introduction: Phantom limb pain affects 50 percent to 85 percent of patients who have had their limbs amputated, lowering their quality of life. Clinical therapies for central pain, such as mirror therapy, motor imagery, or visual feedback, might help amputee patients suffering from phantom limb pain. Objectives: To provide a general review of the efficacy of various approaches for treating phantom limb discomfort in amputee patients. Methods: The following databases were used for a computerized literature search up to March 2022: PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The modified Jadad score is utilized to measure study quality in this research. The PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis) guidelines were followed while conducting this systematic review. Results: In all, 15 papers matched our inclusion criteria, with 5 receiving a low study quality rating and 10 receiving a good study quality rating. All the studies revealed a considerable decrease in pain; however, the patients and techniques varied. Conclusion: Mirror therapy, motor imagery, and visual feedback can alleviate phantom limb pain. However, there is a lack of scientific data to support their efficacy. Future studies should use more powerful research methodologies to investigate these medicines' short- and long-term advantages. Aim Knee osteoarthritis is a common osteoarthritis, which limits individual’s activity and affects aspects of daily life and quality of life. The prevalence of osteoarthritis in Indonesians is still high, reaching 12.7% in women and 15.8% in men. Based on the WHO, the prevalence of osteoarthritis in the world is still high, with 18% in women and 80% in men. This study aimed to determine the relationship between gender and the severity of knee osteoarthritis at Baptis Hospital, Batu City. Methods This cross-sectional study involved 27 female patients and 10 male patients who suffer from knee osteoarthritis at Baptis Hospital, Batu City. Data on gender and the severity of osteoarthritis were collected from medical records. The severity of knee osteoarthritis was assessed using the Kellgren-Lawrence system. Results Among 27 female (73%) and 10 male patients (27%), seven patients suffered from osteoarthritis grade 1, 13 from osteoarthritis grade 2, 16 from osteoarthritis grade 3, and one patient suffered from osteoarthritis grade 4. There was no significant relationship (p>0.05) between the severity of knee osteoarthritis and patients gender. Conclusion There was no significant relationship between the severity of knee osteoarthritis between males and females. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim Bone defect is a challenge even for experienced orthopaedic surgeons and it is a significant cause of morbidity in patients and a source of high economic burden in health care. A severe bone defect is a condition whereby the bone tissue cannot undergo natural healing despite surgical stabilization and requires further surgical intervention. Stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is a heterogeneous cell population derived from adipose tissue that results from minimal manipulation of the adipose tissue itself. TGF is essential in maintaining and expanding mesenchymal stem cells or progenitors of osteoblasts. Furthermore, TGF-β signalling also triggers osteoprogenitor cell proliferation, early differentiation, and maintenance of osteoblasts in the bone healing process. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of administering SVF on bone defects’ healing process assessed based on the TGF- β1. Methods This was an animal study involving twelve Wistar strain Rattus norvegicus. They were divided into three groups: negative group (normal rats), positive group (rats with bone defect without SVF application), and SVF group (rats with bone defect with SVF application). After 30 days, the rats were sacrificed, the TGF- β1 biomarker was evaluated (quantified using ELISA). Results TGF- β1 biomarker expressions were higher in the group with SVF application than in the group without SVF application. All comparisons of the SVF group and positive control group showed significant differences (p=0,000), respectively. Conclusion Giving SVF application could aid the healing process in a murine model with bone defect, marked by an increased level of TGF- β1. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
