Objective: to assess the knowledge about social support and mental health of people diagnosed with cancer, smokers, and alcohol users, and the implications of these behaviors for cancer treatment. Methods: integrative review using the following databases: CINAHL, Embase, LILACS, PsycINFO, MEDLINE, SCOPUS, and Web of Science, without restriction of period and language. The data was analyzed descriptively. Results: 3,010 documents were identified, 14 studies were eligible. The different types of social support received by people with cancer and a history of alcohol and tobacco use stand out: emotional (n=5), informational (n=4), family and material (n=2 each), religious, sexual-affective partner, tangible, affective, positive social interaction, instrumental and social companionship (n=1 each). Conclusion: targeted social support that is sensitive to the particularities of the history of substance use can significantly improve the way people cope with the disease and treatment. Contributions to practice: providing integrated social support for this population is essential for thinking about quality of life throughout treatment and recovery.

Objective: To assess sociodemographic and economic aspects and motivations for living on the streets. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 127 homeless people in the city of Teresina, Piauí, Brazil. Data were collected in person between October 2019 and March 2020. A descriptive analysis of the results obtained was performed. Results: The sociodemographic profile observed was that of male, single, brown, with children, with a low level of education and income. The main reasons for homelessness were family conflicts, use of psychoactive substances and unemployment. Conclusion: The phenomenon of homelessness is perceived as a broad and complex process influenced by biopsychosocial events that occur throughout the life cycle, which requires a holistic approach by health professionals towards people in this situation.

Aim: To understand the perception of substance users involuntarily committed to a mental health clinic concerning the institution where they are enclosed against their will. Methods: This is a qualitative research study conducted in a Therapeutic Community in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with nine substance users who were involuntarily committed to the TC. The participant observation technique was also used for data collection. The observation was carried out within the TC premises. The principal investigator used an observation script, focused on the TC infrastructure, hierarchical relationships, work routine and patient care routine, and verbal and non-verbal communication between patients and professionals. Results: Data analysis resulted in four major themes: (1) The individual and the institution; (2) The total institution—hierarchical relationships in the context of the Therapeutic Community; (3) Routine of work and care for the committed substance users; (4) Routine and religious manifestations in the Therapeutic Community. Results reveal Therapeutic Communities are regarded as places that reaffirm the power of the former mental asylum. Conclusions: From the study results, it is possible to conclude that substance users become vulnerable before the rigid structure of Therapeutic Communities, where the non-democratic, homogenous, and sometimes violent environment does not resemble the diverse, plural society to which the individual must return shortly.

Introdução: A População em Situação de Rua (PSR) é definida como um grupo populacional heterogêneo que tem em comum a pobreza extrema, os vínculos familiares interrompidos ou fragilizados e a falta de um local de moradia convencional regular. Objetivo: Analisar a cotidianidade do viver em situação de rua na concepção da PSR de uma capital do nordeste brasileiro. Métodos: Pesquisa qualitativa realizada com 30 participantes por meio de entrevista com roteiro semiestruturado e um questionário sociodemográfico, entre novembro de 2019 e janeiro de 2020. Os dados quantitativos foram analisados conforme estatística descritiva e os qualitativos foram submetidos à análise temática. Resultados: Diante da escuta da PSR foram construídas as categorias temáticas: Vivência e experiência das pessoas em situação de rua; Cotidiano das pessoas em situação de rua; O olhar das pessoas em situação de rua sobre as políticas públicas. Conclusão: Acredita-se que existe o anseio de sair de tal situação e que isso é possível por meio de políticas públicas voltadas a essa população. Releva-se que as condições de vida devem ser melhoradas. Enfatiza-se a importância do trabalho multi e interdisciplinar a partir da intersetorialidade entre órgãos públicos sociais, de saúde, previdenciários, dentre outros.

Resumo Ainda é desconhecido o papel da amizade enquanto constitutiva da rede de apoio social nos transtornos alimentares (TAs). Esta revisão integrativa teve por objetivo analisar a produção científica sobre relações de amizade em pessoas com TAs. Foram consultadas as bases PubMed/MEDLINE, LILACS, PsycINFO, Web of Science e EMBASE, de 2010 a 2020. Dos 1126 artigos recuperados, 15 preencheram os critérios de elegibilidade. A maioria tem abordagem qualitativa e delineamento transversal, sem indicar referencial teórico. Aspectos qualitativos das relações de amizade foram associados com redução da frequência e intensidade de sintomas quando o vínculo era considerado de boa qualidade. Já amizades que envolviam comentários depreciativos e influências negativas acerca do corpo e hábitos alimentares foram considerados fatores de risco para desencadeamento dos transtornos. Investir na qualidade dos relacionamentos entre pares pode contribuir para fortalecer a rede de proteção social e reduzir a vulnerabilidade psicossocial de adolescentes com risco para desenvolver TAs.

Este estudo etnográfico tem como objetivo descrever a experiência de profissionais de saúde de uma equipe multiprofissional com a transição para o atendimento online durante a pandemia de COVID-19 em um serviço ambulatorial de assistência em transtornos alimentares de um hospital universitário do interior paulista. Utilizou-se o método etnográfico e como referencial teórico a Teoria Interpretativa da Cultura de Geertz. O corpus de pesquisa foi construído com base em observação participante e registros de diário da pesquisadora, coligidos em caderneta de campo durante as reuniões semanais da equipe multiprofissional ocorridas entre julho e dezembro de 2021. Os resultados foram organizados em dois eixos temáticos: (1) Mudanças percebidas na relação com as(os) usuárias(os) do serviço, no qual se destacam aspectos relacionados à preocupação das(os) profissionais com a adesão das pacientes à modalidade remota, os desafios das novas formas de produzir cuidado e a qualidade da comunicação profissional-paciente-familiares. (2) Experiências de uma equipe multidisciplinar que teve de se reinventar durante a pandemia, eixo temático que aborda os esforços para manutenção da motivação e coesão grupal entre as(os) profissionais na transição para os cuidados mediados por tecnologia digital e os desafios enfrentados para preservar, dentro do possível, a sensação de proximidade e acolhimento durante os atendimentos online. Conclui-se que a pandemia impactou de diversas formas o vínculo das(os) profissionais de saúde com seu trabalho e com as(os) pacientes e familiares, o que reforça a importância de potencializar as trocas proporcionadas pelo ambiente virtual em tempos de incerteza e recolhimento compulsório. É necessário considerar tanto os fatores favorecedores como limitantes da transição para os atendimentos mediados pelo uso de tecnologia, ponderando seus efeitos sobre a qualidade do vínculo e a efetividade do tratamento. This ethnographic study aims to describe the experience of health professionals from a multiprofessional team with the transition to online care during the pandemic of COVID-19 in an outpatient service of assistance in eating disorders of a university hospital in the interior of São Paulo. The ethnographic method was used and Geertz's Interpretive Theory of Culture was used as theoretical reference. The research corpus was built based on participant observation and the researcher's diary entries, collected in a field notebook during the weekly meetings of the multiprofessional team that took place between July and December 2021. The results were organized into two thematic axes: (1) Perceived changes in the relationship with service users, in which aspects related to the concern of professionals with the adherence of patients to the remote modality, the challenges of the new ways of producing care, and the quality of professional-patient-family communication are highlighted. (2) Experiences of a multidisciplinary team that had to reinvent itself during the pandemic, a thematic axis that addresses the efforts to maintain motivation and group cohesion among professionals in the transition to care mediated by digital technology and the challenges faced to preserve, as much as possible, the feeling of closeness and welcome during online care. It is concluded that the pandemic impacted in several ways the bond of health professionals with their work and with patients and families, which reinforces the importance of potentiating the exchanges provided by the virtual environment in times of uncertainty and mandatory withdrawal. It is necessary to consider both the favoring and limiting factors of the transition to care mediated by the use of technology, pondering its effects on the quality of the bond and the effectiveness of treatment.

Introdução: A População em Situação de Rua é numerosa, principalmente nos grandes centros urbanos e vivenciam desigualdades e privação de direitos, vivendo em um contexto de insegurança. Convém destacar a exposição a vários tipos de violência, imposta por ações preconceituosas e pela discriminação sofrida no cotidiano e que podem ocorrer tanto nas ruas, como nos espaços institucionalizados, como albergues, o que dificulta encontrar locais seguros que garantam sua integridade física e mental. Objetivo: analisar as condições de violência vivenciadas pela PSR de uma capital do nordeste brasileiro. Método: estudo transversal realizado com 127 participantes em um Centro de Referência Especializado para População em Situação de Rua, Serviço Especializado de Abordagem Social e Albergue Municipal, localizados em uma capital do nordeste brasileiro. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre novembro de 2019 a março de 2020, sendo utilizado questionário semiestruturado apresentando variáveis sociodemográficas e econômicas e questões relacionadas ao contexto de rua. Os dados foram analisados de forma descritiva. A pesquisa recebeu parecer de aprovação nº 3.152.268 pela Universidade Federal do Piauí. Resultados: Quanto ao tipo de violência vivenciada por esta população, evidenciou-se a psicológica (36,3%), física (32,7%), automutilação com intenção suicida (47,6%) e tentativa de suicídio (47,6%). Conclusão: Foram evidenciadas as violências psicológica, física, automutilação com intenção suicida e tentativa de suicídio.

BackgroundScant studies have examined alcohol consumption among transgender women in Latin America. This cross-sectional study estimated the prevalence and associated factors of risky alcohol use among transgender women in Goiás, a state located in the center of Brazil.MethodsParticipants were 440 transgender women (median age = 35 years, interquartile range = 9) recruited through respondent-driven sampling. All participants were interviewed about sociodemographic characteristics, violence, and risk behavior. Alcohol use was assessed using the alcohol use disorders identification test (AUDIT). Objective: To evaluate the consumption of psychoactive substances by health workers from the Mobile Urgency Care Service. Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted at a Public Health service located in a city in Piauí. Data collection took place from January to March 2019 by applying the following instruments in personal interviews: one with occupational, sociodemographic and economic characteristics; and the Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (ASSIST). The data were organized and processed in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software (version 19.0). Results: Of the 68 health professionals, 42 were male, with a mean age of 49.8 years old. Among them, 44 were married and 48 were Catholics. The most prevalent professional category was Nursing Technician, accounting for 46.2%. Among these workers, alcohol was the most used psychoactive substance (54 professionals), followed by tobacco consumption (25) and hypnotics (8). It is noted that tobacco was the substance most commonly used on a daily basis. Conclusion: Consumption of psychoactive substances among health professionals was evident and can be related to the pressure resulting from these positions. Attention is drawn to the importance of expanding this debate and addressing health workers' mental health.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze sleep quality of nurses who worked coping with COVID-19 in scientific evidence. Methods: an integrative review, carried out in seven databases, including studies between December 2021 and June 2022, without language restrictions. The sample consisted of 15 primary studies. Results: nurses working in hospital, intensive care, outpatient care and teaching institutions constitute a vulnerable group for sleep disorders: latency, duration, efficiency and quality. The disorders identified involved insomnia at varying levels of severity: daytime dysfunction and morning sleepiness. Night work and low capacity for self-care were determinants of impaired sleep patterns. Final considerations: the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to greater vulnerability of nurses to changes in sleep, requiring strategies for risk management and well-being promotion.

Objetivo: Describir el efecto de la percepción de riesgo y la religiosidad sobre el consumo de marihuana en adolescentes de zonas marginales del Estado de Chihuahua, Chihuahua. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo correlacional. El muestreo fue probabilístico aleatorio simple. La muestra final fue de 248 adolescentes de 12 a 17 años de zonas marginales de Chihuahua. Se utilizó una cédula de datos personales, inventario de religiosidad y la escala de percepción de riesgo. Resultados: El 59.3% de los adolescentes entrevistados fueron hombres, 59.7% católico y 23% cristiano. El 16.1% indicó consumo de marihuana alguna vez en la vida y 6.5% en el último año. El modelo de regresión logística de las variables de religiosidad y percepción de riesgo mostró una varianza explicada del 19% para el consumo de marihuana alguna vez en la vida, destacando que a mayor percepción de riesgo (β=-0.032, p

Introdução: O nosso objetivo foi analisar a associação entre sintomas depressivos e fatores sociodemográficos e de saúde durante a pandemia de COVID‐19. Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo com 4203 adultos de dez municípios do estado de Mato Grosso, região amazônica do Brasil. A recolha de dados foi realizada na residência, com levantamento de informações sobre as características sociodemográficas, aspectos de saúde física e mental. A Escala de Sintomas Transversais de Nível 1 do DSM‐5 foi utilizada para identificar sintomas de depressão, transtorno por uso de substâncias, distúrbios do sono e ansiedade. A quimiluminescência foi utilizada para detectar anticorpos IgG anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2. Resultados: A prevalência estimada de anticorpos anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 foi de 12,5% e a prevalência de sintomas depressivos foi de 23,2%. Na análise multivariada, a depressão esteve associada a ser do sexo masculino, ter baixa renda, nível de atividade física antes da pandemia, ter doença crónica, apresentar transtorno por uso de substâncias, transtornos do sono e de ansiedade. Conclusão: Os achados sobre a depressão e seus fatores associados são essenciais para a compreensão sobre a magnitude do quadro desses sintomas na população, a partir de onde podem ser feitas recomendações que norteiem as políticas públicas.

Objetivo: determinar la relación y el efecto de la edad, la escolaridad, la resiliencia, la satisfacción con la vida y las fortalezas humanas con el consumo de alcohol en universitarios. Método: diseño descriptivo, correlacional y predictivo, los participantes fueron 367 estudiantes (63.2% mujeres) de 18 a 35 años (M=21.64, DE= 2.82) de una universidad del estado de Tabasco, México. Se seleccionaron mediante un muestreo probabilístico aleatorio estratificado. La recolección de datos se realizó durante junio y julio de 2021. Resultados: Los estudiantes con mejores niveles de resiliencia están más satisfechos con la vida y tienen más fortalezas humanas. La edad se relacionó con el consumo de alcohol, y con nivel de bajo riesgo y consumo dependiente. Cuanto menor los índices de fortalezas humanas mayor es el consumo de alcohol de bajo riesgo y consumo de tipo dependiente. Las fortalezas humanas se mostraron como factores predictores (B=-0.14, p

Abstract Background Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and is a public health problem worldwide. It is estimated that 90% of the patients diagnosed with TB live in vulnerable environments with limited health resources, such as individuals living in correctional facilities. This study aimed to identify the consumption of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs among prisoners diagnosed with TB and the spatial determinants and time trends of the phenomenon in southern Brazil. Methods A cross-sectional study using data from the Brazilian Notifiable Diseases Information System was carried out. TB cases confirmed from 2014 to 2018 in prisons located in Paraná, Brazil, were selected. The Prais-Winsten procedure was performed to identify time trends by calculating monthly rates and the percentage of monthly variation. The Seasonal-Trend by Loess decomposition method was used to verify the time series and trends. The spatial association was verified with the Getis-Ord Gi* technique, and the risk areas were identified using spatial scan statistics. Results A total of 1,099 TB cases were found in the studied population. The consumption of tobacco (n = 460; 41.9%), illegal drugs (n = 451; 41.0%), and alcohol (n = 179; 16.3%) stood out. An ascending trend was found for the consumption of alcohol (+ 19.4%/mo. (95%CI: 12.20–23.03)), tobacco (+ 20.2%/mo. (95%CI: 12.20–28.82)), and illegal drugs (+ 62.2%/mo. (95%CI: 44.54–81.97)). Spatial analysis revealed clusters for the use of alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs. Conclusions This study advances knowledge presenting the burden of drug use and its typology among individuals diagnosed with TB in the prison system. There is a growing trend among patients to use drugs, especially illegal drugs. The clusters show differences between the places where the prisons are located.

O avanço da pandemia de COVID-19 afetou diretamente a saúde mental das populações, especialmente entre pós-graduandos da área da saúde, que vivenciaram a prática profissional e a pós-graduação durante este período. A pesquisa teve como objetivo conhecer o perfil da saúde mental de residentes de um programa de pós-graduação lato sensu do Estado Mato Grosso, durante a pandemia de COVID-19. Trata-se de estudo descritivo, transversal e de caráter quantitativo, com pós-graduandos a nível lato sensu da área da saúde vinculados aos programas de residência multiprofissional de Mato Grosso. A coleta de dados se deu por meio da aplicação online de questionário sociodemográfico e da Escala Transversal de Sintomas de Nível 1 – Autoaplicável do DSM-5. Os dados foram codificados pelo programa Minitab19®, importados para o software Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS), versão 26.0. Participaram deste estudo 25 alunos, predominantemente do sexo feminino, com idade entre 18 a 29 anos, raça/cor negra, renda familiar entre 3 e 4 salários mínimos e sem companheiro(a), 76% não possuíam problemas de saúde, 72% realizavam atividades físicas frequentemente, 36% apresentavam sobrepeso ou obesidade e 72% relataram percepção de piora da saúde. Quanto à saúde mental, 56% apresentaram sintomas somáticos, 52% depressão, raiva e ansiedade, seguidos de 44% pelo funcionamento da personalidade, 40% de uso de substâncias, 36% distúrbio do sono, 32% dissociação e mania, 28% pensamentos e comportamentos repetitivos, 24% memória, 16% psicose e, em menor frequência, 12% ideação suicida. O agravamento da saúde mental pode estar relacionado ao fato desses alunos vivenciarem uma dicotomia, seja por estarem frente a frente com o desconhecido da pandemia no atendimento à comunidade, seja pela adaptação ao ensino remoto. Torna-se fundamental conhecer esse cenário para o planejamento de ações que possam mitigar consequências negativas desse momento pandêmico.

Objetivo: identificar as evidências científicas relacionadas ao estresse ocupacional e a saúde mental de trabalhadores da saúde no cenário da COVID-19. Método: revisão integrativa da literatura realizada nas bases de dados: MEDLINE via PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of ScienceTM, CINAHL, LILACS, IBECS e BDENF em setembro de 2021. Resultados: quinze artigos compuseram a amostra desta revisão. Na síntese do conhecimento identificaram-se três eixos: Adoecimento mental do trabalhador: estresse e outras alterações psíquicas; Contexto estressor: fatores estruturais e intrínsecos; Estratégias de enfrentamento, fatores protetores e de preservação da saúde mental. Conclusão: as evidências apontam a necessidade de maiores pesquisas, com vista à elaboração de estratégias, desenvolvimento e implementação de programas que visem à prevenção, promoção e alívio do estresse ocupacional e sofrimento mental entre os trabalhadores da saúde em tempos de pandemias.

Objetivo: Analisar os conteúdos disponíveis na plataforma YouTubeTM acerca da ansiedade devido à pandemia pelo SARS-CoV-2. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo transversal e analítico, com 404 vídeos da Plataforma YouTubeTM, utilizando-se das produções com acesso livre aos não assinantes dos conteúdos premium. Objetive: To evaluate the association between attitudes, health behaviors, and the use of tobacco and alcohol among nursing students. Materials and method: Exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional study conducted with 182 undergraduate nursing students in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil. Sociodemographic Information Form, Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test – C (AUDIT-C), Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND), Attitudes and Health Behaviors Questionnaire (AHBQ), and Patient Health Questionnaire – 2 (PHQ-2) were applied. Results: More than half of the students showed appropriate health behaviors and positive attitudes. Approximately 50% of the participants had consumed alcoholic beverages in the last month. Experimental use of illicit drugs and smoking were also observed. In addition, students who reported excessive alcohol use presented a deficit in self-care. Conclusion: The precariousness in health attitudes and behaviors identified in this study was associated with various patterns of psychoactive substance use. Thus, the results indicate the need for interventions aimed at promoting well-being and a healthy lifestyle in the university environment.

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess factors associated with depression among higher education students and professionals during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. 550 students and professionals participated. The data were collected by means of a digital questionnaire that included Patient Health Questionnaire-9 to assess depressive symptoms. Results: The factors related to depression and social isolation outcomes were significantly associated with the female gender (n= 149; 37,8%; Odds Ratio OR=2,0), white (n=127; 37,2%; OR=1,60), young people (n=130; 39,4%; OR=2,0), without religion (n=70; 40,2%; OR=1,64), with financial problems (n=80; 53,0%; OR=2,40) and family problems (n=98; 47,3%; OR=1,77); who suffered violence during the quarantine (n=28; 58,3%; OR=2,33), increased the use of illicit drugs (n=16; 59,3%; OR=2,69), used sedatives without a medical prescription (n=75; 54,0%; OR=2,94), lived in conflicting relationships (n=33; 54,1%;OR=2,14), lost their job during the pandemic (n=32; 59,3%; OR=1,99) and presented symptoms of anxiety related to COVID-19 (n=155; 45,2%; OR=3,91). Conclusion: there is a meaningful relationship between vulnerability and adopting risk behaviors during the pandemic-imposed social isolation with depressive symptoms. We suggest that health professionals be attentive to the need to adjust their psychosocial interventions when promoting strategies when promoting strategies to mitigate the effects and risks to mental health.

Objetivo: Analisar os fatores associados ao uso dos Equipamentos de Proteção Individual entre médicos brasileiros durante a pandemia da COVID-19. Método: Estudo transversal analítico realizado no período de outubro a dezembro de 2020 com médicos de todas as regiões do Brasil. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de mídias sociais como Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp e e-mail, com envio de um link para o acesso ao formulário da pesquisa. Os dados foram coletados por meio da plataforma surveymonkey e analisados no software R, versão 4.0.4. O teste qui-quadrado e teste exato de Fisher foram utilizados para testar a hipótese da associação entre o desfecho e as variáveis independentes. Regressão logística foi aplicada considerando todas as variáveis do estudo. Resultados: 1298 médicos de todas as regiões do Brasil participaram do estudo. Quanto aos fatores associados a usar EPI recomendados durante assistência a pacientes com COVID-19, observou-se: ser do sexo feminino (OR = 1,570; IC: 1,242-1,986; p = 0,000); atuava em UTI (OR = 2,785; IC: 2,067-3,751; p = 0,000) e recebeu capacitação no contexto da COVID-19 (OR = 1,620; IC: 1,254-2,092; p = 0,000) tiveram mais chance de usar os EPI necessários para assistência a pacientes com COVID-19. Quanto aos procedimentos que geram aerossóis no contexto da COVID-19, verificou-se os seguintes fatores associados: atuava na UTI (OR = 2,631; IC: 1,993-3,474; p = 0,000); prestou assistência em hospital de campanha (OR = 1,349; IC: 1,046-1,740; p = 0,021) e a instituição de trabalho forneceu EPI de boa qualidade (OR = 1,931; IC: 1,200-3,107; p = 0,007) tiveram mais chance de usar corretamente o EPI durante procedimentos que geram aerossóis no contexto da COVID-19. Conclusão: Foram identificados fatores associados ao uso de EPI necessário em pacientes com COVID-19 e fatores associados ao uso de EPI para procedimentos que geram aerossóis. Intervenções educativas para profissionais e gestores devem ser implementadas a fim de orientá-los a se protegerem e aos demais.

ABSTRACT Objective: to characterize the sociodemographic and psychiatric profile of women users of psychoactive substances in treatment for drug addiction. Method: descriptive study of quantitative approach performed with women attended at a Psychosocial Care Center for Users of Alcohol and Other Drugs (CAPS ad) from the interior of São Paulo State. Results: the sample consisted of 349 adult women, single, low educational level and unemployed, users of alcohol, cocaine, crack and tranquillizers. Among the consequences of use include withdrawal syndrome, overdose, depressive and suicidal symptoms. Most were referred for treatment by the family or health services. Almost 20% of these women had previously started treatments. Conclusion: The results suggest marked morbidity and high levels of psychosocial vulnerability, which require thorough investigation at the patient’s admission, as well as damage associated with use, withdrawal symptoms and depressive symptoms.

Introduction COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on mortality indicators worldwide. Mitigation and repression actions to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with the disease are necessary. However, they are criticised in the economic, social and psychological spheres. This social isolation, increased unemployment, routine changes, news of health complications and deaths related to COVID-19 can cause psychological repercussions that will certainly intensify in the coming months, and suicidal behaviour presents itself as a fatal outcome. It is necessary to know factors associated with suicidal behaviour in adults during the pandemic. Although there are studies, there is no systematic review to assess these factors, specifically in adults. The objective is to critically synthesise the scientific evidence on the factors associated with suicidal behaviour in adults in the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods and analyses A systematic review will be carried out, recommended by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol, in seven databases: Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), ISI of Knowledge, Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE), SCOPUS, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (PsycINFO), Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and ScienceDirect. Preliminary search was carried out on 30 July 2020 and will be updated in March 2021. No restrictions on publication date, study location or languages will be considered in this review. The preliminary research strategies were carried out on 30 July 2020 and will be updated in February 2021. To measure the agreement between reviewers at each screening stage, Cohen’s Kappa will be calculated. Primary outcome will be factors related to suicidal behaviour in adults during COVID-19 pandemic. Grouped standardised mean differences and 95% CIs will be calculated. The risk of bias in observational studies will be assessed using the Methodological Index for Non-Randomised Studies (MINORS). Statistical heterogeneity will be assessed with the I2 statistic.Ethics and disclosure Ethical approval is not required, as primary data will not be collected. Objetivou descrever o perfil de problemas associados ao uso de substâncias entre adolescentes, estudantes de ensino fundamental de uma escola situada em território de intensa circulação de drogas, e verificar as relações com uso e características sociodemográficas. Estudo transversal e correlacional preditivo, com 109 estudantes do nono ano, que responderam ao questionário contendo informações sociodemográficas e o Drug Use Screening Inventory (DUSI). Os dados foram analisados por estatísticas descritivas, testes de associação e cálculo de densidades de problemas investigadas pelo DUSI. Houve maior densidade de problemas para todas as áreas de vida investigadas dentre os escolares que já haviam feito uso de substâncias psicoativas. “Praticar a religião” foi identificado como fator de proteção para o uso de substâncias psicoativas e “trabalhar” como fator de risco para o uso de álcool. Evidenciou-se a necessidade de estratégias preventivas direcionadas ao uso de substâncias e orientadas a esse público.

ABSTRACT Objective: to estimate prevalence and factors associated with the consumption of psychoactive substances among health care workers in hospitals. Method: cross-sectional study, with a sample of 289 health care professionals in a large hospital in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil. Results: 243 (84.1%) reported consumption of psychoactive substances; 124 (86.7%) of professionals who classed their level of satisfaction as moderate had double the chance (OR = 1.98 CI95% 1.02- 3.85) of consuming psychoactive substances; 40 (93%) of those with low level of satisfaction showed a four times higher chance (OR = 4.05 CI95% 1.15-14.26) of consumption; and 72 (75.8%) of those who reported a “good” state of health before work had a 54% lower chance of consumption (OR= 0.46 CI95% 0.234-0919). Conclusion: consumption of psychoactive substances was associated with factors related to level of job satisfaction and perceived health status before work

Resumo O consumo de substâncias psicoativas (SPAs) cresce em escala global, especialmente entre universitários. Este estudo tem como objetivo avaliar o padrão de uso de álcool e outras SPAs em estudantes universitários. A amostra foi composta por 180 graduandos de Psicologia que preencheram um questionário sociodemográfico e instrumentos de rastreamento do uso de SPAs validados para o contexto brasileiro. Os resultados evidenciaram maior prevalência do uso de álcool: 81,7% na vida, 67,6% nos últimos três meses e 55% no padrão binge. Dentre os motivos endossados para o consumo destaca-se o convívio universitário, porém o fator mais valorizado foi o álcool como potencializador do desejo de fumar, seguido de sua percepção como fator gregário em festas/reuniões sociais e como facilitador do enfrentamento de estresse. As pressões da vida universitária geram insegurança e instabilidade que deixam os jovens universitários mais suscetíveis à influência dos pares e à busca de diversão e descontração em ambientes de festas, nas quais o consumo é estimulado e facilitado, o que pode favorecer o beber em quantidade excessiva. Esse padrão de consumo pode se associar a outros comportamentos de risco, como dirigir sob efeito do álcool, manter relações sexuais sem proteção ou envolver-se em distúrbios da ordem pública e infrações à lei. Considerando que os jovens fazem uso em excesso de SPAs sem um suporte social comunitário adequado, é necessário investir em programas de prevenção e políticas públicas guiadas pelas noções de autocuidado, protagonismo e participação ativa na própria reabilitação.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the relationship between psychoactive substance use, anxiety, depression and stress by workers at a Brazilian public university. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out with 345 workers from a public higher education institution, located in a city in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Results: Professionals with an average age of 38.9 years, 187 (54.2%) were women, 163 (47.2%) were single, 186 (53.9%) professed the Catholic religion, 223 (64.8%) had graduate school education. Of the workers, 122 (35.4%) considered their work to be stressful. The use of alcohol in the binge pattern (monthly) and heavy episodic drinking (weekly) were higher among workers with higher levels of anxiety, depression and stress. Conclusion: The use of alcohol in its different forms, stress, depression and anxiety show particularities that must be evaluated and recognized among the worker’s health problems.

ABSTRACT Objective: To understand the social representations that women deprived of their freedom have of imprisonment, violence, and their consequences. Method: An exploratory-descriptive qualitative study with 15 women from a female penitentiary in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Semistructured interview was used. Data submitted to thematic content analysis and interpreted under Social Representations. Results: Categories identified: “Enclosed and abandoned in the prison environment”: loss of contact with relatives, difficulties living in prison, and right to be reinserted into society. “Imprisoned in a cycle of social inequality”: lack of support, access to education and employment opportunities, leading them to engage in new illicit activities and consequent imprisonment. Final considerations: The social representations of prisoners suggest that they perceive themselves to be doubly “imprisoned”, either from the objective point of view, as an individual deprived of freedom; or subjective, as citizens who have their rights disrespected and their possibilities of rehabilitation limited by the prison system.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to evaluate the impact of training on brief interventions for use of substances on the attitudes; and, face validity and internal consistency of Brazilian versions of the Drug and Drug Problems Perceptions Questionnaire (DDPPQ-br) and the Short Alcohol and Alcohol Problems Perception Questionnaire (SAAPPQ) for use among teachers. Methods: methodological (N=122) and quasi-experimental study (n=27). A sociodemographic questionnaire, the DDPPQ-br and the SAAPPQ were applied before and three months after the training. For analysis, were applied the Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon tests. Results: the DDPQ-br and SAAPPQ were considered valid by experts. The training improved teachers’ attitudes towards accountability on the approach to substance use at schools and on the readiness to perform this role. In relation to drugs, it increased the perception of support. Conclusions: teachers’ training can improve their attitudes and strengthen the school in the function of preventing substance-related harm.

RESUMO Objetivo analisar o uso de álcool, tabaco e maconha e suas repercussões na qualidade de vida de adolescentes que cursam o ensino médio. Método Estudo analítico, com amostra de 169 estudantes de Ensino Médio. Foi aplicado um questionário contendo avaliação sociodemográfica, Teste de triagem do envolvimento com álcool, cigarro e outras substâncias e Escala de avaliação da qualidade de vida. Os dados foram analisados por meio de estatísticas descritivas e inferenciais. Resultados Os principais resultados mostraram que nos últimos três meses o uso de tabaco foi associado a uma qualidade de vida considerada ruim/muito ruim, o não uso com qualidade de vida muito boa/boa e satisfação com a saúde. Os estudantes que não usaram álcool consideram sua qualidade de vida muito satisfatória ou satisfatória em relação ao ambiente. Conclusão e implicações para a prática Foi confirmada a hipótese da relação entre uso de substâncias psicoativas e aspectos da qualidade de vida.

Aim: to understand the reasons attributed to drug use relapse by women assisted at a Psychosocial Care Center for alcohol and drugs. Method: phenomenological study, in light of Alfred Schütz's Social Phenomenology. Twenty women undergoing treatment at the service participated in the interviews, between February and May 2017, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Results: relapse to drug use was motivated by relationship influences, due to the loss of family members due to death and due to the experiences and difficulties in social relationships that women established in their lives. Conclusion: it is important to know the history of life and the reasons for relapse so that professionals plan care according to the uniqueness of women.

RESUMO Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar possíveis relações entre uso de drogas e envolvimento em bullying entre adolescentes. Participaram 1.192 adolescentes escolares, que preencheram um formulário de informações sociodemográficas, DUSI R e Escala de Violência Escolar. Enquanto o consumo de álcool, cocaína e algum tipo de droga (exceto álcool e tabaco) foi associado a ser autor de bullying, o uso de algum tipo de droga (exceto álcool e tabaco) esteve associado a ser alvo (vítima); o caso de ser alvo/autor mostrou-se associado ao uso de maconha. Idade, localização da escola e religião foram fatores relevantes para a ocorrência de bullying. Ter 12 anos, ser ateu e morar na zona urbana aumentaram as chances de ser vítima, enquanto ter 15 anos e habitar a zona urbana elevaram as possibilidades de ser alvo/autor de bullying, assim como ter 13 anos, as de ser autor. Estar envolvido em situações de bullying em qualquer posição se mostrou associado ao uso de drogas.

RESUMO Objetivo: realizar a tradução e adaptação transcultural, bem como analisar as propriedades psicométricas do instrumento Treatment Spirituality / Religiosity Scale (TSRS) para a língua portuguesa do Brasil. Método: a amostra foi composta por 188 estudantes de Enfermagem de níveis técnico e superior. A análise da confiabilidade por teste-reteste foi realizada um mês após a primeira aplicação do instrumento. Para mensurar a validação de constructo procedeu-se a análise fatorial. Resultados: a versão brasileira da TSRS manteve-se com 10 itens, com dois fatores. A confiabilidade por teste-reteste apresentou coeficiente Kappa variando de 0,22 a 0,47, consistência interna global alfa de Cronbach de 0,85. Conclusão: a versão brasileira do TSRS apresentou valores de validade e de consistência interna satisfatórios, mostrando-se adequada para uso no contexto nacional.

O estudo teve por objetivo avaliar o uso de álcool no padrão bingee a sua associação com o tabaco em estudantes de enfermagem. Estudo transversal desenvolvido com 182 estudantes. Foi utilizado formulário informações sociodemográficas, (AUDIT C) e (FTND). Dos participantes, 48,9% foram classificados no padrão binge drinking e 6% eram fumantes. Constatou-se que o binge esteve associado à frequência de uso de álcool, a dose de consumo e a frequência de uso de cinco ou mais doses em uma única ocasião. Além disso, esse padrão de consumo associou-se ao tempo de fumar após acordar, número de cigarros diários, consumo matutino, fumar em qualquer hora do dia, situações de proibição e casos de doença. A prática de binge esteve associada à frequência e à dose de consumo de álcool, assim como ao tabaco, porém, essa conclusão pode não retratar a realidade brasileira por se tratar de uma população específica.

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the impact of an educational intervention on the attitudes of Nursing students towards users of psychoactive substances (excluding alcohol and tobacco) and their perceptions about the religious and spiritual care offered within the health services. Method: Quasi-experimental study. We applied a questionnaire before and one month after an intervention about the comprehensive care of substance users, containing: sociodemographic information, knowledge, the Treatment Spirituality/Religiosity Scale, and the Drug and Drug Problems Perceptions Questionnaire. For the analyses, we employed the paired Student’s t-test and Pearson’s Coefficient. Results: 62 students participated in this study. After the intervention, there was improvement in the students’ attitudes towards the substance users, but not regarding the perception they already had about the importance of offering religious and spiritual care within the services. Conclusion: We verified the effectiveness of the educational intervention on the improvement of attitudes concerning the care of substance users, yet we point out that the students did not show changes in their perception about the inclusion of the religious and spiritual aspects in the care dedicated to this population.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar a percepção de estresse e de apoio social dos estudantes de enfermagem, considerando o número de apoiadores e a satisfação com eles. Método: Estudo quantitativo, transversal, realizado com estudantes de enfermagem de uma universidade pública do interior de São Paulo. Utilizou-se da Escala de Avaliação de Estresse em Estudantes de Enfermagem e do Questionário de Suporte Social. Foi empreendido o teste de qui-quadrado, e a estrutura da rede de apoio foi analisada no software Gephi 0.9.1. Resultados: Participaram 192 estudantes. A família e os amigos foram os apoiadores mais mencionados. Apesar de contarem com baixa quantidade de apoiadores, a maioria dos participantes estava satisfeita com o apoio percebido. Os estudantes apresentaram intensidade alta de estresse no domínio “formação profissional”. Além disso, os estudantes que estavam satisfeitos com o apoio social percebido apresentaram baixa intensidade de estresse no cumprimento das atividades teóricas da graduação. Conclusão: A criação de espaços mais acolhedores no ambiente acadêmico, a qualificação do apoio social e as estratégias para melhorar a transição da etapa de estudante para a de profissional são importantes recomendações que contribuirão para desfechos positivos em relação ao enfrentamento do estresse dos estudantes.

Este estudo teve por objetivoconhecer a associação entre uso de substâncias psicoativas e depressão, estresse e ansiedade entre profissionais de enfermagem de equipes da Estratégia Saúde da Família. Estudo transversal realizado com 112 participantes. Foram utilizados instrumentos de rastreamento para uso abusivo de álcool e outras drogas e uma escala que avalia sintomas de depressão, estresse e ansiedade. Os resultados mostraram que 44,6% dos profissionais consumiam álcool no padrão binge, a maioria do sexo masculino, 16,2% apresentavam sintomas de depressão, 15,2% de estresse e 23,2% de ansiedade. O uso de álcool em bingefoi associado à depressão (p =,035). Foram encontradas correlações positivas entre depressão, estresse e ansiedade e correlações negativas entre estresse, idade e tempo de trabalho. O uso problemático de álcool e os sintomas de transtornos mentais estão correlacionados e precisam ser melhor investigados entre os profissionais de enfermagem da Estratégia Saúde da Família.

Abstract Objectives: To evaluate possible relationships between drug abuse, symptoms suggestive of depression and gender in nursing team professionals. Method: A cross-sectional study conducted in a general hospital with 416 participants. Used questionnaire with sociodemographic information, ASSIST, AUDIT-C and PHQ-2 tests. Used Fisher's Exact Tests, Chi-Square Test, and Multivariate Logistic Regression Analysis. Results: The female gender presented decreased odds ratios for alcohol consumption in the binge pattern and use of marijuana; and double odds ratios for feelings of lack of interest and pleasure. Symptoms suggestive of depression presented potential risks for the use of sedatives. Conclusion: Drug abuse and symptoms of depression are associated and manifest differently, according to gender among nursing staff professionals. Implications for practice: Social and gender roles influence the mental health conditions of these professionals.

O estudo teve por objetivo identificar o uso do álcool e as condições de saúde de motoristas de caminhão participantesde uma campanha de saúde. O desenho metodológico é do tipo descritivo, na abordagem quantitativa. A coletade dados foi realizada, entre agosto e outubro de 2006, em uma rodovia do interior paulista, por meio de um questionáriocontendo informações sociodemográficas, Teste de Identificação do Uso de Álcool (AUDIT) e informações sobre condiçõesde saúde. De 1087 participantes, 827 eram motoristas de caminhão, predominantemente do sexo masculino, de cor branca,casados, com baixo nível de escolaridade, católicos. Os resultados apontaram um conjunto de riscos associados em motoristasque pontuaram acima de 8 pontos no AUDIT, além de apresentarem níveis pressóricos, glicêmicos e de colesterol acima dosvalores normais, bem como sobrepeso e obesidade. A identificação precoce dos problemas é uma alternativa válida para aaplicação de ações preventivas para essa população. The methodological design is an descriptive of the quantitative approach. Data collection was conducted betweenAugust and October 2006 on a highway in São Paulo State, Brazil, by means of a questionnaire containing demographicinformation, Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and health conditions issues. Among 1087 participants, 827were truck drivers, predominantly male, adult, white, and married, with low level of education and Catholic religion. Theresults pointed out a list of risks among drivers who scored more than eight points in the AUDIT, who had high blood pressure,glucose and cholesterol levels above normal, and overweight and obesity. Early identification of both problems is a validalternative to the implementation of preventive actions to this population. RESUMEN El estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar el consumo de alcohol y las condiciones de salud de los conductores de camiones que participan en una campaña de salud. El diseño del estudio es de tipo descriptivo, en el enfoque cuantitativo. Larecolección de datos se llevó a cabo, entre agosto y octubre de 2006, en una carretera en São Paulo, Brasil, por medio de uncuestionario que contiene información sociodemográfica, Test de Identificación de Trastornos debido al Consumo de Alcohol (AUDIT) e informaciones sobre las condiciones de salud. De 1087 participantes, 827 eran conductores de camiones, predominantemente masculinos, blancos, casados, con bajo nivel de educación y religión católica. Los resultados mostraron puntuacionesde riesgos asociados a los conductores que obtuvieron una puntuación por encima de 8 puntos en la prueba de AUDIT, ademásde presentar los niveles de presión arterial, glucosa y colesterol por encima del normal, y sobrepeso y obesidad. El Acompañamiento Terapéutico (AT) es un procedimiento que ha recibido atención creciente en el escenario de la salud mental. La finalidad de este estudio fue presentar una revisión de la literatura de la producción científica nacional sobre AT, tomando como referencia las tesis y disertaciones concluidas en nivel de postgrado stricto sensu en Brasil entre 2000 y 2011. Las referencias fueron obtenidas del Banco de Tesis y Disertaciones de la Coordinación de Perfeccionamiento de Personal de Nivel Superior (Capes), seleccionadas con sumo criterio y finalmente evaluadas en un conjun-to de dimensiones. En general, los resultados alcanzados indican repeticiones en el corpus en términos de las estrategias metodológicas, referenciales teóricos y diseños metodológicos. En ese sentido, este estudio evidencia lagunas en la literatura y contri-buye a la definición de una agenda de investigación sobre el asunto.

Abstract: Abortion is a very sensitive issue with relevance to public health; however few clinical or population-based studies have examined induced abortion among drug users. The study aims to evaluate the prevalence of induced abortion and sex-related conditions in an inpatient drug user sample. A cross-sectional design study was conducted in an inpatient addiction treatment unit in São Paulo, Brazil, with a sample of 616 patients, aged 18-75. Sociodemographic data, sexual behavior, and dependence severity were evaluated in relation to induced abortion. Approximately 27% of patients reported having a history of abortion (themselves in the case of women or partners in the case of men). The mean age was 34.6±10.9 years old, 34.9% diagnosed with severe alcohol dependence, 33% were diagnosed with severe levels of dependence on other drugs, 69.6% were diagnosed cocaine users (inhaled and smoked), and alcohol was the drug of choice for 30.4%. Chances of having a history of abortion is greater for women than for men with a odds ratio (OR = 2.9; 95%CI: 1.75-4.76), (OR = 1.7; 95%CI: 1.09-2.75) of no condom use; (OR = 2.0; 95%CI: 1.35-3.23) of history of STI and (OR = 3.2; 95%CI: 1.29-5.73) use of morning-after pill. Drug- and alcohol-dependent patients have high-risk behaviours of sporadic use or no-condom use which contribute to unplanned pregnancy and induced abortion, making this vulnerable population a group which deserves special attention in sexual health prevention programmes and health promotion efforts for the reduction of induced abortion.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar o uso problemático de álcool e comportamentos de saúde entre profissionais de enfermagem de um hospital geral. Método: Estudo transversal realizado em um hospital geral. Foi aplicado um questionário com informações sociodemográficas, o teste de triagem do uso álcool e de outras drogas e o questionário de comportamentos de saúde. Resultado: Participaram da pesquisa 416 profissionais. No modelo final da regressão logística, os profissionais do sexo masculino (OR 4,3), solteiros (OR 3,7), que professam outras religiões (OR 3,8), exercem função de técnico de enfermagem (OR 2,3), não consomem baixas doses de bebidas alcoólicas por dia (OR 2,0), fazem uso de tabaco (OR 8,9), evitam o consumo de bebidas com cafeína (OR 1,9) e ambientes barulhentos (OR 2,0) apresentaram chances aumentadas para o consumo de álcool em nível problemático. Conclusão: O uso de álcool e comportamentos de saúde não saudáveis entre profissionais de enfermagem estão fortemente associados. Esses achados têm implicações para a implementação de trabalhos com estratégias de promoção de saúde e prevenção do uso de álcool nas relações de trabalho.

This study evaluated the association between risk factors and severity of problems related to drug use in secondary school adolescents. This study had the participation of 1192 students from 6th to 9th year of a city in the South of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data collection occurred through a questionnaire containing: socio-demographic data and the Drug Use Screening Inventory. Drug use was prevalent in adolescents aged 14 and 15 years, atheist, with good family relationships, living with friends/institutions, attended parties once a month, one or two times a week and three and four times a week. There was main damage in the areas of psychiatric disorders, family system and social competence among those who made use of drugs (except alcohol and tobacco). The results point to the need for implementation of preventive strategies of drug use and health promotion in the school context, whereas consumption was associated with significant damage.

Objective To evaluate the contribution of auriculotherapy in smoking cessation. Method Double-blind randomized controlled trial, conducted with 30 smokers allocated into two groups: Experimental Group (21 participants received 10 sessions of auriculotherapy at specific points for smoking) and Control Group (nine participants received auriculotherapy in points that have no effect on the focus of research). Results Auriculotherapy contributed in reducing the number of cigarettes smoked in 61.9% of participants (p=0.002), in reducing the difficult to abstain from smoking in places where it is forbidden by 38% (p=0.050) and in not smoking when ill 23.8% (p=0.025). Conclusion Given the efficacy only in terms of reducing the number of cigarettes smoked and other parameters, we suggest that future studies consider the use of auriculotherapy combined with other treatment methods, in order to achieve better results in cessation/abstinence.

Objective: To evaluate the internal consistency of the version of the Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test – Geriatric Version (MAST-G) instrument, translated and adapted for Brazil. Method: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional study. Data were collected through a demographic questionnaire, the ICD-10 and the MAST-G, following the steps of translation and cultural adaptation. One hundred eleven elderly in the city of São Carlos, SP, Brazil were interviewed. Results: The mean age of those interviewed was 70 years, with 45% men and 55% women, with the mean education of three years; 92% resided with family; 48% of the subjects consumed alcoholic beverages. The MAST-G presented a good level of reliability, with Cronbach’s α = 0.7873, and good levels of sensitivity and specificity with a cutoff score of five positive responses. Conclusion: The Brazilian version of the MAST-G presented internal consistency values similar to the original English version,showing it to be adequate for use in the national context.

The aim of this study was to identify the consumption of alcohol and its impact on the physical, interpersonal, and intrapersonal realms, as well on the impulse control and social responsibility of a group of women receiving specialized treatment. It is a descriptive qualitative study. The sample comprised 61 women, predominately adults, single, with low education levels and who were domestic workers. On average they consumed high quantities of distilled alcohol per day. The women were diagnosed with alcohol dependence syndrome and presented significant damages to their intrapersonal and impulse control areas. A minority sought treatment to stop drinking, and 59% had initiated a prior treatment for mental and psychiatric disorders. The results provided use with information on alcohol consumption, as well as on the consequences of drinking among women. El estudio tiene por objetivo validar aspectos de espiritualidad y religiosos en usuarios de alcohol y/o drogas. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo exploratorio, de abordaje cuantitativo. Participaron 138 individuos de sexo masculino, vinculados a instituciones para rehabilitación o grupo de mutua ayuda, que respondieron a un cuestionario sociodemográfico, AUDIT-C y la versión brasileña de la Spirituality Self Rating Scale. En la muestra, 47,1% eran usuarios de alcohol y 52,9% de drogas. Los resultados constataron diferencias entre os grupos en relación a los aspectos religiosos: los usuarios de alcohol eran católicos (63,1%) e no practicantes de religión (50,8%) y los usuarios de drogas eran evangélicos (43,1%) e practicaban una religión (72,2%). En relación a los aspectos das prácticas espirituales, no fueran encontradas diferencias entre los grupos. Ambos demostraron hacer distinción entre los conceptos de religiosidad e de espiritualidad. Los resultados amplían la comprensión sobre cómo el enfermero pode implementar o cuidado que leva en consideración los aspectos subjetivos de usuario de substancias psicoactivas en su práctica cotidiana.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential relationship between self-reported sexual dysfunction, sexual behavior, and severity of addiction of drug users. A cross-sectional design study was conducted at an inpatient addiction treatment unit in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a sample of 508 male drug users. Sociodemographic data, sexual behavior, and severity of dependence were evaluated.The prevalence of sexual dysfunction was 37.2% and premature ejaculation was 63.8%. Men with sexual dysfunction presented from moderate to severe level of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs of dependence. The findings from this study are particularly relevant identifying those sociodemographic factors, severity of drug use, and sexual behavior are related to men who experience sexual dysfunction. Health promotion and motivational interventions on sexual health targeted to male drug users can contribute in reducing these at-risk behaviors. More interdisciplinary research is desirable in future in considering men’s sexual health.

The objective was to evaluate binge drinking and its consequences in drug users. A quantitative approach, descriptive study developed with 140 subjects of a Psychosocial Care Center – Alcohol and Drugs. A socio-demographic information, severity of alcohol dependence scale and severity of drug use scale were applied. The sample was characterized by adult male (76.4%), single (77.1%), non Caucasian (54.3%), low level of education (57.1%) and Catholic (55.8%). They were crack users (38.6%), polydrug users (32.1%) and cocaine users (29.3%), the majority (80.7%) consisted of binge drinking users who had severe levels of alcohol dependence (93.8%). Threatening, aggression and fighting were observed in the sample. The results indicate the need to provide more intensive interventional strategies to control alcohol consumption in this vulnerable segment of population in order to minimize injuries.

The study aimed to evaluate attitudes and theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing technicians about the care to patients with mental disorders. A descriptive study conducted in a Municipal Emergency room in the countryside of the state of São Paulo. We assessed sociodemographic information and about training, attitudes and knowledge on the identification of signs and symptoms, feelings and nursing care for people with mental disorders of 69 nursing technicians. These professionals were characterized as female, adults, with secondary and tertiary educational level. Most received theoretical content on how to identify signs and symptoms, but less than half had received information on the systematization of nursing care (SAE). Despite having much interest in the psychiatry area, the professionals perceived patients with mental disorders as unpredictable individuals in need of constant care. There is need for better investment in issues related to nursing care in order that professionals can offer better quality of care for people with mental disorders.

The study aims to identify the nursing diagnosis Spiritual distress in 120 patients with Chronic Renal Insufficiency, using different instruments, and to evaluate the effectiveness of these instruments in support of this identification. Data were collected separately by two nurses using a questionnaire containing sociodemographic information and the defining characteristics of Spiritual distress, as well as direct questioning to the patient regarding the presence of the diagnosis and the instruments: the Spirituality Rating Scale; Pinto and Pais-Ribeiro's Spirituality Scale; and the Spiritual Well-being Scale. The study found that 25.8% to 35.8% of the patients had the diagnosis. The diagnostic evaluation developed by the expert nurses presented no divergence between the two and obtained a perfect concordance coefficient (96.7%) with the opinion of the patient; this demonstrated substantial concordance with the Existential Well-being Sub-scale (83.3%) and with the Pinto e Pais-Ribeiro's Spirituality Scale (87.5%), which demonstrated their usefulness for diagnostic identification.El estudio tuvo por objetivo identificar el diagnóstico de enfermería Sufrimiento Espiritual en 120 pacientes con Insuficiencia Renal Crónica, utilizando diferentes instrumentos, y evaluar la eficacia de esos instrumentos en el apoyo de esta identificación. Los datos fueron recolectados separadamente por dos enfermeros, por medio de cuestionario conteniendo informaciones sociodemográficas y las características definidoras de Sufrimiento Espiritual, además del cuestionamiento directo al paciente sobre la presencia del diagnóstico y los instrumentos: Escala de Evaluación de la Espiritualidad; Escala de Espiritualidad de Pinto y Pais-Ribeiro; y, Escala de Bienestar Espiritual. El estudio encontró que 25,8% a 35,8% de los pacientes poseían el diagnóstico. La evaluación de diagnóstico efectuada por los enfermeros peritos no presentó divergencia entre ambos y obtuvo coeficiente de concordancia perfecto (96,7%) con la opinión del paciente; esta demostró concordancia substancial con la Sub-escala de Bienestar Existencial (83,3%) y con a Escala de Espiritualidad de Pinto y Pais-Ribeiro (87,5%), que demostraron ser útiles para la identificación del diagnóstico.Neste estudo, visou-se identificar o diagnóstico de enfermagem sofrimento espiritual, em 120 pacientes com insuficiência renal crônica, utilizando-se diferentes instrumentos, e avaliar a eficácia de tais instrumentos no apoio dessa identificação. Os dados foram coletados separadamente, por dois enfermeiros, por meio de questionário contendo informações sociodemográficas e as características definidoras de sofrimento espiritual, além do questionamento direto ao paciente sobre a presença do diagnóstico e os instrumentos: escala de avaliação da espiritualidade, escala de espiritualidade de Pinto e Pais-Ribeiro e escala de bem-estar espiritual. O estudo encontrou que entre 25,8 e 35,8% dos pacientes possuíam o diagnóstico. A avaliação diagnóstica desenvolvida pelos enfermeiros peritos não apresentou divergência entre ambos e obteve coeficiente de concordância perfeito (96,7%) com a opinião do paciente; essa demonstrou concordância substancial com a subescala de bem-estar existencial (83,3%) e com a escala de espiritualidade de Pinto e Pais-Ribeiro (87,5%) que demonstraram ser úteis para a identificação diagnóstica.
