The 1994 US supreme court decision in Luther Campbell et al. versus Acuff-Rose music, Inc, written by Justice David Souter, reversed a lower court decision and argued in favor of the rap group 2 live crew's playful critique of Roy Orbison's 'Oh pretty woman' by its function as parody is highlighted. Suggestions are provided as to how the language of Justice Souter's decision allows not only for future parodies but also a reinvigoration of speech, one which calls into question power relationships codified in US copyright statutes.

The movies of Samuel Fuller achieve sophisticated primitivism with their use of violence and extreme situations. He has made films in the genres of spy thrillers and detective stories. His camera style matches the violence of the stories, with an active energy which overwhelms audiences. He can concretize abstractions, as with stories of Cold War espionage. This can also call into question the stability of meaning.

Homicidal is unlike any other William CastleEs production where the pain of character gives rise to similar sensation on the part of the viewer. The way Castle conceived his marketing and film making techniques with his initial self-produced projects is examined.
