Tem-se como objetivo nesta tese identificar e analisar os estereótipos de masculinidades e feminilidades nomeados pelos gestores do Tribunal de Justiça de Rondônia e as implicações desses no exercício da liderança. Consiste em uma pesquisa qualitativa com gestores e gestoras vinculados ao Tribunal de Justiça de Rondônia, onde se buscou identificar e descrever, a partir da dinâmica das relações de gênero, como os gestores percepcionam os significados de liderança e como a vivenciam em sua rotina de trabalho. Os dados coletados foram organizados por meio do método de análise de conteúdo. O marco teórico de referência envolve a teoria do papel social (EAGLY e KARAU, 1991) e a teoria da androginia psicológica (BEM, 1975, 1981). O cenário no qual as organizações do trabalho em sua maioria são estereotipadas como um espaço eminentemente masculino aguça o interesse dos pesquisadores sobre a questão de como a minoria feminina que alcançou cargos de liderança a conduz e se percebe como líderes e sobre as diferenças destas perspectivas com relação aos homens, o que leva ao exame do controvertido tema sobre a existência de diferenças de estilos de liderança entre os gêneros. Buscou-se compreender também como se manifestam os estereótipos de masculinidade e feminilidade entre os líderes, os significados atribuídos à liderança sob a lente do gênero e os atribuídos considerados pertinentes às lideranças masculina e feminina. Neste sentido, os estereótipos de liderança engendrados na organização, estão associados à expressividade e à instrumentalidade, mas esses atributos não estão localizados no âmbito específico da feminilidade e da masculinidade, respectivamente. São subjetivações, que não implica uma posse, mas uma produção incessante que acontece a partir dos encontros vivenciado com o outro (GUATTARI e ROLNIK, 1996). Mesmo que uma minoria dos gestores reporte-se à heteronormatividade dos papéis de gênero na liderança, a maioria reporta-se a uma perspectiva andrógina que concerne a níveis ou campos variados. Esta androginia, apesar de ser localmente situada, apresenta pontos comuns com a androginia apontada pelos autores, referentes à multidimensionalidade dos papéis de gênero no que diz respeito à análise dos conceitos de masculinidade e feminilidade que possibilita uma variedade de comportamentos individuais por parte do homem e da mulher. This thesis aims to identify and analyze the stereotypes of masculinity and femininity managers named by the managers of Rondônia Court of Justice and their implications for the exercise of leadership. It consists of a qualitative survey conducted among managers and manageresses attached to the Rondônia Court of Justice, in which we sought to identify and describe, based on the dynamics of gender relations, how managers perceive the meanings of leadership and how they live them in their daily work routine. The data collected were organized using the content analysis method. The theoretical reference involves social role theory (EAGLY and KARAU, 1991) and the theory of psychological androgyny (BEM, 1975, 1981). The scenario in which labor organizations are, for the most part, stereotyped as a predominantly masculine spaces sharpens the interest of researchers regarding the question of how the minority of women who have achieved positions of leadership conduct and perceive themselves as leaders and on the differences of those perspectives when compared to men, which leads to the examination of the controversial issue of the existence of differences in leadership styles between genders. An attempt is also made to understand how the stereotypes of masculinity and femininity are manifested among leaders, the meanings attributed to leadership through the lens of gender and the attributes considered relevant to male and female leaders. In this sense, the leadership stereotypes engendered in the organization are associated with expressiveness and instrumentality, but these attributes are not located in the specific context of femininity and masculinity, respectively. They are subjectivities, which does not imply possession, but a ceaseless production that arises from encounters experienced with the other (GUATTARI and ROLNIK, 1996). Even though a minority of managers reports the heteronormativity of gender roles in leadership, the majority refers to androgynous perspective that concerns the varied levels or fields. This androgyny, despite being locally situated, has commonalities with the androgyny highlighted by the authors, concerning the multidimensionality of gender roles with regard to the analysis of the concepts of masculinity and femininity that enables a variety of individual behaviors on the part of the man and the woman.

Trata-se de um ensaio teórico, realizado com base em pesquisa bibliográfi ca, com o objetivo analisar e descrever como os estereótipos, as diferenças e as desigualdades de gênero constroem barreiras para a ascensão de mulheres a cargos de liderança nas organizações. O ensaio discute também as implicações da gestão andrógina (KARK, 2004)como alternativa de igualdade de oportunidades para homens e mulheres ascenderem como líderes. Por meio da teoria da identidade do papel sexual,são demonstrados os estereótipos socialmente construídos sobre o papel masculino e feminino, os quais estabelecem barreiras para a ascensão da mulher a cargos de prestígio e poder nas organizações, mesmo com a inserção maciça de mulheres no mercado de trabalho. Conclui-se que o estilo andrógino de gestão constitui uma alternativa para o estabelecimento de relações de igualdade de condições e de oportunidades entre homens e mulheres, ao mesmo tempo em que transpõe a polarização existente entre os gêneros e promove sua integração. Enfi m, o estilo andrógino de gestão pode ser considerado uma atitude de mudança cultural e comportamental no que diz respeito ao papel social do gênero. O avanço nas pesquisas sobre a liderança andrógina suscita novos caminhos e possibilidades de análise sobre como os indivíduos andróginos percebem e exercem sua liderança e proporciona novas perspectivas para o entendimento dos constructos sociais do papel de gênero e das barreiras que impedem a ascensão profi ssional das mulheres. This is a theoretical essay based on bibliographical research whose objective is to analyze and describe how gender stereotypes, differences and inequalities build barriers to the ascension of women to positions of leadership in organizations. It also discusses the implications of androgynous management as an alternative to the equality of opportunities to both men and women to ascend as leaders. Through the theory of gender role identity, the stereotypes built on female and male roles are demonstrated, which establish barriers to the ascension of women to positions of power and prestige in organizations, despite their massive insertion in the labor market. It is concluded that the androgynous management style constitutes an alternative to the establishment of relations of equality in the conditions and opportunities for men and women, as it also overcomes the polarization that exists between genders, promoting their integration. Finally, the androgynous management style can be considered an attitude of cultural and behavioral change in what concerns the social role of gender. The advance in research on androgynous leaderships opens new paths and possibilities to the analysis of how androgynous individuals perceive and exert their leadership, providing new perspectives to understanding social constructs on the role of gender and the barriers that hinder women’s professional ascension.

Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Minas Gerais This paper proposes a new method to automatically generate fuzzy rules based on rough sets teory and fuzzy sets teory. The derived rules are concise with respect to the number of antecedent terms and present high coverage rate. The classier system based on these fuzzy rules was tailored to discriminate between possibility of classication and impossibility classication. The proposal was tested with ve public databases provided by University of Wisconsin: the Iris, the Wine, the Wisconsin Diagnosis Breast Cancer considering 10 attributes (Wdbc with 10 attributes), the Wisconsin Diagnosis Breast Cancer considering 30 attributes (Wdbc with 30 attributes) and the Wisconsin Prognostic Breast Cancer (Wpbc). The classication accuracies obtained for Iris, Wine, Wdbc with 10 attributes, Wdbc with 30 attributes and the Wpbc were 100%, 100%, 99,03%, 98,03 e 93,90%, respectively. Este trabalho propõe um novo método para gerar automaticamente regras fuzzy baseado na teoria dos rough sets e na teoria dos conjuntos fuzzy. As regras derivadas são concisas em relação ao número de termos antecedentes e apresentam alta taxa de cobertura. O sistema de classicação baseado nestas regras fuzzy foi adaptado para discriminar entre a possibilidade e a impossibilidade de classicação. The objective of this work is the study of the existing correlations between the strategical use of the information and the joint and implementation of defense politics and national security in the Legal Amazonian. For in such a way, the proposal was developed from the analysis of the systems of protection and monitoring of the Amazonian (SIPAM/SIVAM), where we search to inquire as these systems have contributed for the definition and implantation of these politics. For the Amazonian, with its natural wealth, threats and vulnerabilities, the perspectives of integration, security and national defense and of sustainable development constitute great challenges to be faced, where the efficient use of the technology is a basic reference that must be incorporated in the strategies and public politics in these areas. One is about a strategical project, conceived with vision of future, protection and development of the . The objective SIPAM/SIVAM the defense and the guarantee of the Brazilian sovereignty in the Legal Amazonian, beyond the systematization and accomplishment of the governmental actions in the region, by means of the intensive use of technological apparatus. In turn, they reflect the priority that the Amazon region has in terms of defense and security for the Country, and symbolize the strategy of the State to protect it. The SIPAM/SIVAM if finds in a boarding line in which the guarantee of the national sovereignty also involves the care with the development of the local population, inside of a proposal educative and integrator. Like conclusion we affirm that of the SIPAM/SIVAM creates a new paradigm for the public administration, where the organizations work with a shared set of information, beyond starting to act of integrated form. Thus, when searching permanently the rationalization of efforts and resources, trying an unknown form of institution relationship where infrastructure and products are shared, the SIPAM/SIVAM creates a new premise for the Brazilian public administration and contributes to give a new direction to the development of the Amazonian. O objetivo deste trabalho é o estudo das correlações existentes entre o uso estratégico da informação e a articulação e implementação de políticas de defesa e segurança nacional na Amazônia Legal. Para tanto, a proposta foi desenvolvida a partir da análise dos sistemas de proteção e de vigilância da Amazônia para a definição e implantação dessas políticas. Para a Amazônia, com suas riquezas naturais, ameaças e vulnerabilidades, as perspectivas de integração, segurança e defesa nacional e de desenvolvimento sustentável constituem grandes desafios a serem enfrentados, em que o uso eficaz da tecnologia é uma referência básica que deve ser incorporada nas estratégias e políticas públicas nessas áreas. Trata-se de um projeto estratégico, concebido com visão de futuro, de proteção e desenvolvimento da Amazônia Legal, uma área vital para o País. O SIPAM/SIVAM objetiva a defesa e a garantia da soberania brasileira na Amazônia Legal, além da sistematização e efetivação das ações governamentais na região, por meio do uso intensivo de aparato tecnológico. Por sua vez, refletem a prioridade que a região amazônica tem em termos de defesa e segurança para o País, e simbolizam a estratégia do Estado para protegê-la. O SIPAM/SIVAM se encontra em uma linha de abordagem na qual a garantia da soberania nacional na Amazônia, além do empreendimento estratégico-militar, envolve também o cuidado com o desenvolvimento da população local, dentro de uma proposta educativa e integradora. A guisa de conclusão afirmamos que o SIPAM/SIVAM cria um novo paradigma para a administração pública, em que as organizações trabalham com um conjunto compartilhado de informações, além de passar a agir de forma integrada. Assim, ao buscar permanentemente a racionalização de esforços e recursos, experimentando uma forma inédita de relacionamento interinstitucional em que infra-estrutura e produtos são compartilhados, o SIPAM/SIVAM cria uma nova premissa para a administração pública brasileira e contribui para dar uma nova direção ao desenvolvimento da Amazônia.

Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR) Explosões solares são definidas observacionalmente por um aumento da emissão em diferentes comprimentos de onda do espectro eletromagnético. Neste trabalho investigamos as características da emissão na faixa do EUV, associada a uma explosão solar X8.2 que ocorreu próxima ao limbo solar no dia 10 de setembro de 2017. O evento consta na base de dados HEK como tendo início às 15:35:00 UT e pico de emissão às 16:06:00 UT. Ele está associado à região ativa NOAA 12673, inicialmente classificada como tipo alfa conforme as regras de classificação da complexidade magnética de Mt. Wilson. Ao cruzar o centro do disco solar sua complexidade magnética passou para beta-gama. Imagens no contínuo mostram que a região está associada a um grupo de manchas solares de formato irregular, e medidas do campo magnético indicam que a região é composta por polaridades positivas e negativas, formando mais de uma linha de inversão de polaridade. A inspeção das imagens em EUV para um período que vai das 13:00:00 UT às 19:00:00 UT indica que o plasma está confinado numa estrutura de campo magnético complexa, com arcos magnéticos conectando diferentes regiões da superfície solar e evoluindo quase estaticamente até início da explosão. Após, o campo magnético passa a evoluir dinamicamente formando uma estrutura de arcos pós explosão. Nas imagens é possível identificar a ocorrência de um jato de plasma antecedendo a explosão e, nos filtros em 94 e 131 Å, é observada a presença de estrutura filamentar, a qual pode estar associada à presença de uma lâmina de corrente. As curvas de luz obtidas a partir das imagens apresentam um aumento inicial na emissão em torno das 15:45:00 UT, associada ao jato de plasma, seguido de um aumento abrupto na emissão com o primeiro pico em torno das 16:07:00 UT. A análise de ondaleta da curva de luz indica o aparecimento de oscilações de curto período durante a explosão, sugerindo que sobreposto a uma fonte contínua de emissão existe uma componente pulsada que atua desde o aparecimento do jato até o início da fase de decaimento da emissão EUV. A evolução temporal do perfil vertical médio de emissão mostra que inicialmente as fontes de emissão aparecem na baixa atmosfera solar, posteriormente se deslocando para regiões mais altas e atingindo uma altitude final em torno de 42 Mm a partir da superfície do Sol. O deslocamento vertical da fonte sofre uma desaceleração durante o seu movimento. Por fim, aplicou-se uma análise estatística descritiva, através do cálculo de medidas de tendência central e medidas de dispersão dos pixeis que compõe cada imagem. Verificou-se que a distribuição dos valores muda sua tendência central quando do início do evento. Antes da ocorrência da explosão os pixeis apresentam uma distribuição próxima da normal, com os valores da média e da mediana próximos um do outro. Com o início da explosão os valores da média e da mediana se distanciam, a média aumenta bem acima da mediana, indicando que a distribuição passa a apresentar uma cauda para direita. As medidas de dispersão também são alteradas com o início do evento, o desvio padrão e a diferença entre o maior e menor valor apresentam mudanças mais significativas que as do desvio mediano da mediana e o intervalo interquartil. Duas medidas que apresentam bastante sensibilidade ao aparecimento de outliers são a assimetria e a curtose, ambas mostram aumento durante a ocorrência da explosão. Flares are defined observationally as a sudden enhancement of emission in different wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. In this work we investigate the characteristics of EUV emission associated with a X8.2 class flare that occurred near to the solar limb on September 10, 2017. This event appears in the HEK database with onset at 15:35:00 UT and emission peak at 16:06:00 UT. It is associated to active region NOAA 12673, which was initially classified as alpha-type according to the Mt. Wilson classification rules of magnetic complexity. When this active region crossed the center of the solar disc, its magnetic complexity changed to beta-gamma.Images on the continuum show that the region was associated with a group of irregular sunspots, and magnetic field measurements indicate that the region is formed by interacting positive and negative polarities, giving rise to more than one polarity inversion line. The image analysis in the EUV wavelength range for a period that starts at 13:00:00 UT and ends at 19:00:00 UT, indicates that the plasma is confined by a complex magnetic field that connects different solar surface regions and evolves almost statically until the moment of flare. After that, the magnetic field starts to evolve dynamically, forming a post-flare loop structure. In the EUV images it is also possible to identify the occurrence of a plasma jet preceding the event and, in the 94 e 131Å images, it is observed a filament structure that could be associated with a current sheet. The light curves obtained from the images show, at first, an emission enhancement at about 15:45:00 UT due to the plasma jet, followed by a sudden increase in the emission with the first peak occurring at about 16:07:00 UT. The wavelet analysis of the light curve indicates the appearance of short-period oscillations, which suggests that superimposed on an emission continuum source exists a pulsed component that acts from the appearance of the jet until the onset of the EUV emission decay phase. The temporal evolution of the mean vertical emission profile shows that emission sources appear first in the lower atmosphere and, as time goes by, they move to higher solar atmosphere regions, reaching at the end distances of about 42 Mm from the solar surface. It is also observed that the displacement velocity of the source slows down over time. Finally, we also applied a descriptive statistical analysis to the data through the calculation of the central tendency and dispersion metrics. Before the occurrence of the flare, the pixels in each image show a distribution of values close to the normal distribution, with the mean and median values close to each other. From the instant that the emission enhancement associated with the flare occurs, the mean and median values separate from each other. The mean increases way above the median values, indicating that the distribution starts to present a right tail. The dispersion metrics are also changed with the event onset, with the standard deviation and the difference between the largest and the smallest value showing more significant changes than the mean median deviation and the interquartile range. Two measures that present sensitivity to the appearance of outliers are the skewness and kurtosis, both present an enhancement during the eruption.

Neste trabalho é analisado o efeito dos filmes finos na sensibilidade ao índice de refração das redes de Bragg corroídas. Foi possível realizar um estudo da influência do índice de refração do filme e de sua espessura, no índice de refração efetivo dos modos propagados dentro da fibra. Além disso, a distribuição do campo elétrico no interior da fibra foi investigada propondo-se um modelo para a resposta do dispositivo. Para isso foi utilizado um modelo numérico baseado no método dos elementos finitos. Esse método é bastante apropriado para a resolução de problemas onde ocorrem interações com a vizinhança bem como por possuir estabilidade e acurácia. Os resultados obtidos apontam para um aumento não linear significativo da sensibilidade quando a fibra é recoberta com filmes finos de maiores índices de refração e, da mesma forma, para dispositivos recobertos com filmes de maiores espessuras. O incremento na sensibilidade ocorre em função da maior distribuição do campo evanescente proporcionado pelo aumento, tanto do índice de refração do filme, quanto de sua espessura. Foi possível determinar uma equação para a resposta da rede levando em conta o índice de refração do filme e sua espessura. In this work, the effect of thin films on the sensitivity of corroded Bragg grid is analyzed. It was possible to carry out a study of the influence of the refractive index of the film and its thickness, on the effective refractive index of the modes propagated within the fiber. In addition, the distribution of the electric field within the fiber was investigated by proposing a model for the response of the device. For this, a numerical model based on the finite element method was used. This method is very suitable for solving problems where interactions with the neighborhood occur as well as for stability and accuracy. The results obtained point to a significant non-linear increase in sensitivity when the film is covered with thin films with higher refractive index and, similarly, for devices covered with films of greater thickness. The increase in sensitivity occurs due to the greater distribution of the evanescent field proportional to the increase, both in the refractive index of the film and in its thickness. The study of the parameters A, B, C and k the proposition of an equation for the grid response taking into account the refractive index of the film and its thickness.

Os objetos Centauros são corpos menores do Sistema Solar que orbitam o Sol entre as órbitas de Júpiter e Netuno. O primeiro Centauro descoberto foi (2060) Chiron, provisoriamente designado como 1977 UB. Assim como outros Centauros descobertos posteriormente, Chiron apresentou atividade cometária e coma em observações nos anos 1988 e 1989, o que lhe rendeu também a designação de cometa (95/P Chiron). Em ocultações estelares ocorridas na década de 90, estruturas na região mais interna da coma foram interpretadas como jatos colimados de material sendo expelido pelo núcleo. Estruturas também foram observadas em uma ocultação em 2011, onde a simetria dessas estruturas em torno do centro de (2060) Chiron levantou a hipótese de que o objeto pode estar rodeado por sistema de anéis. Este trabalho contém a investigação sobre o tamanho, forma e a busca por estruturas no entorno do objeto Centauro (2060) Chiron nas curvas de luz de duas ocultações estelares nos últimos dois anos. Em 28 de Novembro de 2018, o Centauro (2060) Chiron ocultou uma estrela com magnitude G ∼ 17,2. Dados foram adquiridos com sucesso no Observatório Astronômico da África do Sul (SAAO), com uma detecção do núcleo do objeto. Com uma duração de 31,3 ± 0,2 segundos, o tamanho da corda foi estimado em 179,8 ± 1,4 km. Na ocultação estelar ocorrida em 08 de Setembro de 2019, (2060) Chiron ocultou uma estrela com magnitude G ∼ 16,5. As observações foram feitas em cinco locais distribuídos, dois na Bélgica e dois na França obtiveram sucesso, um telescópios na Espanha obteve uma corda negativa próxima a sombra do corpo. Como todos os telescópios no evento de 2019 eram de médio porte, os dados apresentaram baixa razão sinalruído e portanto não foi possível buscar por eventos secundários nas curvas de luz. Apesar disso, essa ocultação multi-cordas permitiu determinar restrições para o tamanho e forma do objeto. Neste trabalho, além de apresentarmos pela primeira vez restrições ao tamanho e forma de Chiron, usamos os dados obtidos na ocultação de 2018 para realizar uma busca pelos anéis propostos, determinar limites para a detecção de qualquer material ou outra estrutura no plano equatorial, ou difuso distribuido radialmente, orbitando (2060) Chiron. Centaurs are minor bodies in the Solar System that orbit the Sun between Jupiter and Neptune’s orbits. The first Centaur discovered was (2060) Chiron, when it received the provisional designation of 1977 UB. Like other Centaurs discovered later, Chiron exhibited cometary activity and coma in observations in the years 1988 and 1989, which also earned it the designation of a comet (95/P Chiron). In stellar occultations in the ’90s, structures in the inner coma were interpreted as collimated jets of material expelled by the nucleus. Symmetric structures around the center of (2060) Chiron were also observed in an occultation in 2011, raising the hypothesis that a ring system may surround the object. This work contains the investigation about the size, shape and the search for structures around the Centaur (2060) Chiron in the light curves of two stellar occultations in the last two years. On November 28, 2018, (2060) Chiron occulted a G ∼ 17.2 magnitude star. Data was successfully acquired at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO) with the detection of the object’s nucleus. With a 31.3±0.2 seconds duration, the chord size is estimated at 179.8±1.4 km. In the stellar occultation on September 8, 2019, (2060) Chiron occulted a star with magnitude R ∼ 16.5. The observations were made in five sites in Europe; two positive ones in Belgium, two positive ones in France and one telescope in Spain obtained a negative chord close to the body’s shadow. As all telescopes were medium-sized, the data showed a low signal-to-noise ratio, só it was impossible to search for secondary events in the light curves of the 2019 event. Despite this, this multi-chord occultation allowed to constrains the size and shape of the object. In this work, in addition to presenting, for the first time, restrictions to the size and shape of Chiron, we use the data obtained in the 2018 occultation to perform a search for the proposed rings, determining limits for the detection of any material or other structure in the equatorial plane, or radially diffuse, orbiting (2060) Chiron.

Conselho Nacional do Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) Fundação Araucária de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico do Paraná Objetos Transnetunianos (TNOs) são corpos menores do Sistema Solar; podem ser vistos como objetos sob a ação de auto-gravidade, forças relacionadas a rotação e forças de maré, classicamente considerados como de comportamento fluido e, portanto, assumindo formas de equilíbrio fluidas. Contudo, eles são compostos por materiais geológicos, que raramente comportam-se como fluidos; logo, o uso de critérios geológicos para analisar as formas assumidas por esses objetos quando em equilíbrio, i.e. formas de equilíbrio, é necessário, resultando em uma melhor compreensão de suas propriedades. O presente trabalho propõe a utilização do método descrito por Holsapple (2004) para a avaliação do estado de equilíbrio de corpos menores. Foram estudados os TNOs Haumea, Quaoar e 2002 VS2, os centauros Chariklo e 2002 GZ32, e os asteróides Ceres, Vesta e Lutetia. Suas formas (determinadas com alta precisão a partir de ocultações estelares ou dados coletados por sondas espaciais), período de rotação e densidade (quando disponível) foram usados para determinar: i) se o objeto está em equilíbrio; ii) se apresenta comportamento fluido ou se tem algum tipo de resistência a deformação; e iii) as implicações geológicas dessas conclusões. No caso da ausência de valores de massa, como é o caso para 2003 VS2, Chariklo e 2002 GZ32, o método foi usado para se obter uma estimativa da densidade, partindo do pressuposto de que apresentam comportamento fluido e estão em equilíbrio. Concluiu-se que todos os objetos avaliados estão em equilíbrio, porém com formas usualmente diferentes do caso fluido (i.e. elipsóides de Maclaurin e Jacobi). Foi demonstrado que o comportamento dos materiais é um indicativo da possível composição e estruturação interna de um objeto, o que está diretamente relacionado aos processos geológicos que atuaram e atuam neles; isso permite entender, ao menos em termos gerais, sua história e evolução geológicas a partir do uso de modelos e de análogos. Além disso, TNOs e outros mundos gelados contém ambientes únicos, muito diferentes de tudo visto na Terra; eles podem ser vistos como grandes laboratórios em escala real, possivelmente contendo um grande número de processos geológicos únicos à eles e capazes de mudar alguns dos paradigmas atuais nesse campo da ciência. Transneptunian Objects (TNOs) are small bodies of the Solar System; they can be seen as spinning bodies under the influence of self-gravity, spin-related forces and tidal forces, classically considered to have fluid behaviour and, therefore, assume fluid equilibrium shapes. However, they are composed by geological materials that rarely behaves as fluids; thus, the use of geological criteria to analyse the shapes assumed by these objects when in equilibrium, i.e. their equilibrium shape, is required, resulting in more accurate understanding of their nature. This work proposes using the method described by Holsapple (2004) to evaluate the equilibrium state of small bodies. The TNOs Haumea, Quaoar and 2003 VS2, the centaurs Chariklo and 2002 GZ32, and the asteroids Ceres, Vesta and Lutetia were studied. Their shape (determined with high accuracy through the use of stellar occultations and data collected by space probes), rotation period and density (whenever available) were used to determine: i) if the object is in equilibrium; ii) if it presents fluid behaviour or if it has some type of internal resistance to deformation; and iii) the geological implications of this. In the absence of mass values, as is the case for 2003 VS2, Chariklo and 2002 GZ23, the method was used to infer the object’s density, under the assumptions that it presents fluid behaviour and is in equilibrium. All objects were found to be in equilibrium, but with shapes usually different than the fluid case (i.e. Maclaurin and Jacobi ellipsoids). It was shown that the material’s behaviour is an indicative of the possible internal composition and structure of an object, what is closely related to geological processes that took and are taking place on it; it allows the understanding, at least in general terms, of their geological history and evolution through the use of models and analogs. In addition to that, TNOs and other icy worlds present unique environments, very different than anything on Earth; they can be seen as huge real-life laboratories, possibly containing a vast number of geological processes unique to them and capable of changing some of the current paradigms of this field of science.
