1. Tailoring magnetic properties of CoFeB films via tungsten buffer and capping layers

Abstract: Controlling the interface between W and CoFeB-based buffer or capping layers at an appropriate temperature is essential for modifying the strength of magnetic anisotropy. In this work, we systematically explore the impact of W buffer and capping layers on the structural, topological, and magnetic anisotropy properties of W (5 nm)/CoFeB(10 nm) and CoFeB(10 nm)/W(3 nm) bilayers sputtered at room temperature (RT) and annealed at an optimal annealing temperature (TA) of 400 C. Our findings demonstrate that the bilayer films uniaxial magnetic anisotropy (UMA) with out-of-plane coercivity (Hcp) is highly influenced by the W buffer, capping layers, and TA. Specifically, the Hcp of the CoFeB layer with the buffer and capping layers annealed at 400 C samples exceed several times the coercivity of those unannealed. CoFeB buffered with W and annealed at 400 C shows larger Hcp, two-fold UMA, and higher in-plane UMA energy density (Keff) than the CoFeB/W bilayers, which can be attributed to the W buffer layer inducing the crystallization of CoFeB during annealing. The W buffer, capping layers, and the TA for W and CoFeB-based bilayer samples significantly alter the surface morphology, grain sizes, and surface roughness. The XRD analysis reveals nano-crystallites embedded in the larger grains of the 400 C annealed samples. Hence, this work offers a promising approach to achieving high thermal stability of UMA in W and CoFeB-based spintronic applications.

2. Diffusion based Text-to-Music Generation with Global and Local Text based Conditioning

Abstract: Diffusion based Text-To-Music (TTM) models generate music corresponding to text descriptions. Typically UNet based diffusion models condition on text embeddings generated from a pre-trained large language model or from a cross-modality audio-language representation model. This work proposes a diffusion based TTM, in which the UNet is conditioned on both (i) a uni-modal language model (e.g., T5) via cross-attention and (ii) a cross-modal audio-language representation model (e.g., CLAP) via Feature-wise Linear Modulation (FiLM). The diffusion model is trained to exploit both a local text representation from the T5 and a global representation from the CLAP. Furthermore, we propose modifications that extract both global and local representations from the T5 through pooling mechanisms that we call mean pooling and self-attention pooling. This approach mitigates the need for an additional encoder (e.g., CLAP) to extract a global representation, thereby reducing the number of model parameters. Our results show that incorporating the CLAP global embeddings to the T5 local embeddings enhances text adherence (KL=1.47) compared to a baseline model solely relying on the T5 local embeddings (KL=1.54). Alternatively, extracting global text embeddings directly from the T5 local embeddings through the proposed mean pooling approach yields superior generation quality (FAD=1.89) while exhibiting marginally inferior text adherence (KL=1.51) against the model conditioned on both CLAP and T5 text embeddings (FAD=1.94 and KL=1.47). 3. 'A Great Start, But...': Evaluating LLM-Generated Mind Maps for Information Mapping in Video-Based Design

Abstract: Extracting concepts and understanding relationships from videos is essential in Video-Based Design (VBD), where videos serve as a primary medium for exploration but require significant effort in managing meta-information. Mind maps, with their ability to visually organize complex data, offer a promising approach for structuring and analysing video content. Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) provide new opportunities for meta-information processing and visual understanding in VBD, yet their application remains underexplored. This study recruited 28 VBD practitioners to investigate the use of prompt-tuned LLMs for generating mind maps from ethnographic videos. Comparing LLM-generated mind maps with those created by professional designers, we evaluated rated scores, design effectiveness, and user experience across two contexts. Findings reveal that LLMs effectively capture central concepts but struggle with hierarchical organization and contextual grounding. We discuss trust, customization, and workflow integration as key factors to guide future research on LLM-supported information mapping in VBD.

4. persoDA: Personalized Data Augmentation for Personalized ASR

Abstract: Data augmentation (DA) is ubiquitously used in training of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) models. DA offers increased data variability, robustness and generalization against different acoustic distortions. Recently, personalization of ASR models on mobile devices has been shown to improve Word Error Rate (WER). This paper evaluates data augmentation in this context and proposes persoDA; a DA method driven by user's data utilized to personalize ASR. persoDA aims to augment training with data specifically tuned towards acoustic characteristics of the end-user, as opposed to standard augmentation based on Multi-Condition Training (MCT) that applies random reverberation and noises. Our evaluation with an ASR conformer-based baseline trained on Librispeech and personalized for VOICES shows that persoDA achieves a 13.9% relative WER reduction over using standard data augmentation (using random noise & reverberation). Abstract: Continuous gravitational waves (CWs) emission from neutron stars carries information about their internal structure and equation of state, and it can provide tests of General Relativity. We present a search for CWs from a set of 45 known pulsars in the first part of the fourth LIGO--Virgo--KAGRA observing run, known as O4a. We conducted a targeted search for each pulsar using three independent analysis methods considering the single-harmonic and the dual-harmonic emission models. We find no evidence of a CW signal in O4a data for both models and set upper limits on the signal amplitude and on the ellipticity, which quantifies the asymmetry in the neutron star mass distribution. For the single-harmonic emission model, 29 targets have the upper limit on the amplitude below the theoretical spin-down limit. The lowest upper limit on the amplitude is $6.4\!\times\!10^{-27}$ for the young energetic pulsar J0537-6910, while the lowest constraint on the ellipticity is $8.8\!\times\!10^{-9}$ for the bright nearby millisecond pulsar J0437-4715. Additionally, for a subset of 16 targets we performed a narrowband search that is more robust regarding the emission model, with no evidence of a signal. 6. Accelerating Hardware Verification with Graph Models

Abstract: The increasing complexity of modern processor and IP designs presents significant challenges in identifying and mitigating hardware flaws early in the IC design cycle. Traditional hardware fuzzing techniques, inspired by software testing, have shown promise but face scalability issues, especially at the gate-level netlist where bugs introduced during synthesis are often missed by RTL-level verification due to longer simulation times. To address this, we introduce GraphFuzz, a graph-based hardware fuzzer designed for gate-level netlist verification. In this approach, hardware designs are modeled as graph nodes, with gate behaviors encoded as features. By leveraging graph learning algorithms, GraphFuzz efficiently detects hardware vulnerabilities by analyzing node patterns. Our evaluation across benchmark circuits and open-source processors demonstrates an average prediction accuracy of 80% and bug detection accuracy of 70%, highlighting the potential of graph-based methods for enhancing hardware verification.

10. DG-PPU: Dynamical Graphs based Post-processing of Point Clouds extracted from Knee Ultrasounds

Abstract: Patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) often experience non-specific anterior knee pain, arising from abnormal patellofemoral joint (PFJ) instability. Tracking PFJ motion is challenging since static imaging modalities like CT and MRI are limited by field of view and metal artefact interference. Ultrasounds offer an alternative modality for dynamic musculoskeletal imaging. We aim to achieve accurate visualisation of patellar tracking and PFJ motion, using 3D registration of point clouds extracted from ultrasound scans across different angles of joint flexion. Ultrasound images containing soft tissue are often mislabeled as bone during segmentation, resulting in noisy 3D point clouds that hinder accurate registration of the bony joint anatomy. Machine learning the intrinsic geometry of the knee bone may help us eliminate these false positives. As the intrinsic geometry of the knee does not change during PFJ motion, one may expect this to be robust across multiple angles of joint flexion. Our dynamical graphs-based post-processing algorithm (DG-PPU) is able to achieve this, creating smoother point clouds that accurately represent bony knee anatomy across different angles. After inverting these point clouds back to their original ultrasound images, we evaluated that DG-PPU outperformed manual data cleaning done by our lab technician, deleting false positives and noise with 98.2% precision across three different angles of joint flexion. DG-PPU is the first algorithm to automate the post-processing of 3D point clouds extracted from ultrasound scans. Abstract: We present the results of a search for gravitational-wave transients associated with core-collapse supernova SN 2023ixf, which was observed in the galaxy Messier 101 via optical emission on 2023 May 19th, during the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA 15th Engineering Run. We define a five-day on-source window during which an accompanying gravitational-wave signal may have occurred. No gravitational waves have been identified in data when at least two gravitational-wave observatories were operating, which covered $\sim 14\%$ of this five-day window. We report the search detection efficiency for various possible gravitational-wave emission models. Considering the distance to M101 (6.7 Mpc), we derive constraints on the gravitational-wave emission mechanism of core-collapse supernovae across a broad frequency spectrum, ranging from 50 Hz to 2 kHz where we assume the GW emission occurred when coincident data are available in the on-source window. Considering an ellipsoid model for a rotating proto-neutron star, our search is sensitive to gravitational-wave energy $1 \times 10^{-5} M_{\odot} c^2$ and luminosity $4 \times 10^{-5} M_{\odot} c^2/\text{s}$ for a source emitting at 50 Hz. These constraints are around an order of magnitude more stringent than those obtained so far with gravitational-wave data. The constraint on the ellipticity of the proto-neutron star that is formed is as low as $1.04$, at frequencies above $1200$ Hz, surpassing results from SN 2019ejj., Comment: Main paper: 6 pages, 4 figures and 1 table. Abstract: The magnetar SGR 1935+2154 is the only known Galactic source of fast radio bursts (FRBs). FRBs from SGR 1935+2154 were first detected by CHIME/FRB and STARE2 in 2020 April, after the conclusion of the LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA Collaborations' O3 observing run. Here we analyze four periods of gravitational wave (GW) data from the GEO600 detector coincident with four periods of FRB activity detected by CHIME/FRB, as well as X-ray glitches and X-ray bursts detected by NICER and NuSTAR close to the time of one of the FRBs. We do not detect any significant GW emission from any of the events. Instead, using a short-duration GW search (for bursts $\leq$ 1 s) we derive 50\% (90\%) upper limits of $10^{48}$ ($10^{49}$) erg for GWs at 300 Hz and $10^{49}$ ($10^{50}$) erg at 2 kHz, and constrain the GW-to-radio energy ratio to $\leq 10^{14} - 10^{16}$. We also derive upper limits from a long-duration search for bursts with durations between 1 and 10 s. 13. Cluster-based Network Time Synchronization for Resilience with Energy Efficiency

Abstract: Time synchronization of devices in Internet-of-Things (IoT) networks is one of the challenging problems and a pre-requisite for the design of low-latency applications. Although many existing solutions have tried to address this problem, almost all solutions assume all the devices (nodes) in the network are faultless. Furthermore, these solutions exchange a large number of messages to achieve synchronization, leading to significant communication and energy overhead. To address these shortcomings, we propose C-sync, a clustering-based decentralized time synchronization protocol that provides resilience against several types of faults with energy-efficient communication. C-sync achieves scalability by introducing multiple reference nodes in the network that restrict the maximum number of hops any node can have to its time source. The protocol is designed with a modular structure on the Contiki platform to allow application transitions. We evaluate C-sync on a real testbed that comprises over 40 Tmote Sky hardware nodes distributed across different levels in a building and show through experiments the fault resilience, energy efficiency, and scalability of the protocol. C-sync detects and isolates faults to a cluster and recovers quickly. The evaluation makes a qualitative comparison with state-of-the-art protocols and a quantitative comparison with a class of decentralized protocols (derived from GTSP) that provide synchronization with no/limited fault-tolerance. Results also show a reduction of 56.12% and 75.75% in power consumption in the worst-case and best-case scenarios, respectively, compared to GTSP, while achieving similar accuracy.

14. A novel load distribution strategy for aggregators using IoT-enabled mobile devices

Abstract: The rapid proliferation of Internet-of-things (IoT) as well as mobile devices such as Electric Vehicles (EVs), has led to unpredictable load at the grid. The demand to supply ratio is particularly exacerbated at a few grid aggregators (charging stations) with excessive demand due to the geographic location, peak time, etc. Existing solutions on demand response cannot achieve significant improvements based only on time-shifting the loads without considering the device properties such as charging modes and movement capabilities to enable geographic migration. Additionally, the information on the spare capacity at a few aggregators can aid in re-channeling the load from other aggregators facing excess demand to allow migration of devices. In this paper, we model these flexible properties of the devices as a mixed-integer non-linear problem (MINLP) to minimize excess load and the improve the utility (benefit) across all devices. We propose an online distributed low-complexity heuristic that prioritizes devices based on demand and deadlines to minimize the cumulative loss in utility. The proposed heuristic is tested on an exhaustive set of synthetic data and compared with solutions from a solver/optimization tool for the same runtime to show the impracticality of using a solver. A real-world EV testbed data is also tested with our proposed solution and other scheduling solutions to show the practicality of generating a feasible schedule and a loss improvement of at least 57.23%.

15. A Framework for Predicting the Impact of Game Balance Changes through Meta Discovery

Abstract: A metagame is a collection of knowledge that goes beyond the rules of a game. In competitive, team-based games like Pok\'emon or League of Legends, it refers to the set of current dominant characters and/or strategies within the player base. Developer changes to the balance of the game can have drastic and unforeseen consequences on these sets of meta characters. A framework for predicting the impact of balance changes could aid developers in making more informed balance decisions. In this paper we present such a Meta Discovery framework, leveraging Reinforcement Learning for automated testing of balance changes. 16. Effects of Interfacial Oxygen Diffusion on the Magnetic Properties and Thermal Stability of Pd/CoFeB/Pd/Ta Heterostructure

Abstract: We investigated the effects of annealing temperatures (TA) on a Pd (5 nm)/CoFeB (10 nm)/Pd (3 nm)/Ta (10 nm) multilayer structure. The as-deposited sample showed an amorphous state with in-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy (UMA), resulting in low coercivity and moderate damping constant ({\alpha}) values. Increasing TA led to crystallization, forming bcc-CoFe (110) crystals, which increased in-plane coercivity and introduced isotropic magnetic anisotropy, slightly reducing the {\alpha}. The two-fold UMA persists up to 600 C, and the thermal stability of the in-plane magnetic anisotropy remains intact even TA = 700 C. The TA significantly influenced the magnetic properties such as in-plane saturation magnetization (Ms//), in-plane and out-of-plane coercivities, and in-plane effective magnetic anisotropy energy density (Keff). Above 600 C, Keff decreased, indicating a transition towards uniaxial perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Interfacial oxidation and diffusion from the Ta capping layer to the Pd/CoFeB/Pd interfaces were observed, influencing chemical bonding states. Annealing at 700 C, reduced oxygen within TaOx through a redox reaction involving Ta crystallization, forming TaB, PdO, and BOx states. Ferromagnetic resonance spectra analysis indicated variations in resonance field (Hr) due to local chemical environments. The {\alpha} reduction, reaching a minimum at 300 C annealing, was attributed to reduced structural disorder from inhomogeneities. Tailoring magnetic anisotropy and spin dynamic properties in Pd/CoFeB/Pd/Ta structures through TA-controlled oxygen diffusion/oxidation highlights their potential for SOT, DMI, and magnetic skyrmion-based spintronic devices.

Abstract: Recently, Machine Learning (ML) methods are built-in as an important component in many smart agriculture platforms. In this paper, we explore the new combination of advanced ML methods for creating a smart agriculture platform where farmers could reach out for assistance from the public, or a closed circle of experts. Specifically, we focus on an easy way to assist the farmers in understanding plant diseases where the farmers can get help to solve the issues from the members of the community. The proposed system utilizes deep learning techniques for identifying the disease of the plant from the affected image, which acts as an initial identifier. Further, Natural Language Processing techniques are employed for ranking the solutions posted by the user community. In this paper, a message channel is built on top of Twitter, a popular social media platform to establish proper communication among farmers. Since the effect of the solutions can differ based on various other parameters, we extend the use of the concept drift approach and come up with a good solution and propose it to the farmer. We tested the proposed framework on the benchmark dataset, and it produces accurate and reliable results.

Abstract: Magnetometry using Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) color centers in diamond predominantly relies on microwave spectroscopy. However, microwaves may hinder certain studies involving biological systems or thin conductive samples. This work demonstrates a wide-field, microwave-free imaging magnetometer utilizing NV centers in nanodiamonds by exploiting the cross-relaxation feature near zero magnetic fields under ambient conditions without applying microwaves. For this purpose, we measure the center shift, contrast, and linewidth of the zero-field cross-relaxation in 140 nm nanodiamonds drop-cast on a current-carrying conductive pattern while scanning a background magnetic field, achieving a sensitivity of 4.5 $\mathrm{\mu T/\sqrt{Hz}}$. Abstract: In recent years, online education has been given more and more attention with the widespread use of the internet. The teaching procedure divides space and makes time for online learning; though teachers cannot control the learners accurately, the state of education calculates learners' learning situation. This paper explains that the discourse analysis method is utilized to examine the online teaching behavior of teachers and student behavior like class attendance, how many are active in class, and learning behavior in online education. Also, discourse analysis will optimize and enhance the classification of the text understood according to their language. After pre-processing, feature extraction was done by utilizing Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency, and feature selection was calculated via utilizing chi-square examination for teacher discourse like learning behavior, languages understood by students, and language types. Moreover, the machine learning-based classification technique Support Vector Machine (SVM) is considered to analyze the teacher discourse in class automatically, and results are compared with existing techniques.

Abstract: Current evidence suggests that ontogeny may account for the functional heterogeneity of some tissue macrophages, but not others. Here, we asked whether developmental origin drives different functions of skin Langerhans cells (LCs), an embryo-derived mononuclear phagocyte with features of both tissue macrophages and dendritic cells. Using time-course analyses, bone marrow chimeras, and fate tracing models, we found that the complete elimination of embryo-derived LCs at steady state results in their repopulation from circulating monocytes. However, monocyte-derived LCs inefficiently replenished the epidermal niche. Instead, these cells preferentially migrated to skin-draining lymph nodes. Mechanistically, we show that the enhanced migratory capability of monocyte-derived LCs is associated with higher expression of CD207/Langerin, a C-type lectin involved in the capture of skin microbes. Our data demonstrate that ontogeny plays a role in the migratory behavior of epidermal LCs.

Abstract: In this study, we achieved the improvement of uniaxial perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in the W/MgAl2O4/CoFeMnSi/W/CoFeMnSi/MgAl2O4/W heterostructure by manipulating the annealing temperature (TA) [350 C, 450 C, and 550 C]. We observed a maximum effective PMA energy density (Keff) of = 1.604 x 106 erg/cc with low saturation magnetization (Ms) at the specified TA. The enhancement of Keff with Ms is significantly influenced by structural variations at the interfaces of CoFeMnSi and MgAl2O4, attributed to sufficient interfacial oxidation dependent on the TA. The TA was identified as a critical factor affecting the surface morphology, grain size, and surface roughness of the multilayer. Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) measurements were employed to confirm the presence of Co-O or Fe-O bond in the multilayer structures, elucidating the true origin of PMA. The control of interfacial oxidation at the interface during annealing is crucial for regulating the strength of PMA. Therefore, this double CoFeMnSi/MgAl2O4-based multilayer presents a promising avenue, serving as a favorable candidate for future p-MTJs-based spintronic devices with enhanced thermal stability.

Abstract: The ground state of a one-dimensional spin-1/2 uniform antiferromagnetic Heisenberg chain (AfHc) is a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid which is quantum-critical with respect to applied magnetic fields upto a saturation field Hs beyond which it transforms to a fully polarised state. Wilson ratio has been predicted to be a good indicator for demarcating these phases [Phys. Rev. B 96, 220401 (2017)]. From detailed temperature and magnetic field dependent magnetisation, magnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements in a metalorganic complex and comparisons with field theory and quantum transfer matrix method calculations, the complex was found to be a very good realisation of a spin-1/2 AfHc. Wilson ratio obtained from experimentally obtained magnetic susceptibility and magnetic contribution of specific heat values was used to map the magnetic phase diagram of the uniform spin-1/2 AfHc over large regions of phase space demarcating Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid, saturation field quantum critical, and fully polarised states. 30. Intricate Evaporation Dynamics in Different Multi-Droplet Configurations

Abstract: We experimentally investigate the evaporation dynamics of an array of sessile droplets arranged in different configurations. Utilizing a customized goniometer, we capture side and top view profiles to monitor the evolution of height, spread, contact angle, and volume of the droplets. Our results reveal that the lifetime of a droplet array surpasses that of an isolated droplet, attributed to the shielding effect induced by neighbouring droplets, which elevates the local vapour concentration, thereby reducing the evaporation rate. We found that lifetime increases as droplet separation distance decreases at a fixed configuration and substrate temperature. It is observed that the lifetimes increase with the number of droplets. We observe a decrease in lifetimes, following a power law trend with increasing substrate temperature, with the shielding effect diminishing at higher substrate temperatures due to natural convective effects. We also observe a generalised behavior for the centrally placed droplet across various separation distances and substrate temperatures. This arises from different droplet configurations and substrate temperatures, which modify the local vapour concentration around the droplets without significantly impacting the contact line dynamics. Additionally, the experimental results are compared with a diffusion-based theoretical model that incorporates the evaporative cooling effect to predict the lifetime of the central droplet within the array. We observe that the theoretical model satisfactorily predicts the lifetime of the droplet at room temperature. Abstract: We present results from a search for X-ray/gamma-ray counterparts of gravitational-wave (GW) candidates from the third observing run (O3) of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) network using the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (Swift-BAT). The search includes 636 GW candidates received in low latency, 86 of which have been confirmed by the offline analysis and included in the third cumulative Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalogs (GWTC-3). Targeted searches were carried out on the entire GW sample using the maximum--likelihood NITRATES pipeline on the BAT data made available via the GUANO infrastructure. We do not detect any significant electromagnetic emission that is temporally and spatially coincident with any of the GW candidates. We report flux upper limits in the 15-350 keV band as a function of sky position for all the catalog candidates. For GW candidates where the Swift-BAT false alarm rate is less than 10$^{-3}$ Hz, we compute the GW--BAT joint false alarm rate. Finally, the derived Swift-BAT upper limits are used to infer constraints on the putative electromagnetic emission associated with binary black hole mergers., Comment: 50 pages, 10 figures, 4 tables

32. Atypical antiferromagnetic ordering in single crystalline quasi-2D honeycomb magnet YbI$_3$

Abstract: Here, we study YbI$_3$, a quasi-2D layered material with Yb atoms arranged on an ideal honeycomb network of edge-sharing YbI$_6$ octahedra, analogous to the low-temperature phase of $\alpha-$RuCl$_3$. High quality single crystals of YbI$_3$ are grown from Yb and I as starting precursors, using the vapor transport technique. The grown crystals are characterized by single crystal x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, magnetization, and heat capacity probes. The crystal-field split ground state of Yb$^{3+}$ in \Yb~ is a well-isolated Kramers doublet with an effective moment $\rm J_{eff} = 1/2$. Upon cooling, the low-temperature heat capacity of \Yb~ reveals a broad peak at $\rm T_1 = 0.95$~K due to short-range ordering of the Yb moments, followed by a sharp peak at $\rm T_2 = T_N = 0.6$~K due to long-range ordering. The magnetic behavior is found to be weakly anisotropic with $\chi^\parallel > \chi^\perp$, where $\chi^\parallel$ and $\chi^\perp$ refers to the in-plane ($H \parallel ab$) and out-of-plane ($H \perp ab$) susceptibilities. The 2~K isothermal magnetization saturates at $\rm \approx~1.5~\mu_B/Yb^{3+}$ (in-plane) and $\rm \approx~1~\mu_B/Yb^{3+}$ (out-of-plane), suggesting the anisotropy to be easy-plane type. Low-temperature heat capacity, well below T$_N$, is found to vary as T$^\alpha$ with $\alpha~\approx~2.5$, indicating a possible unconventional magnetic ground state for YbI$_3$., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, Supplemental Material available on request

33. Emergence of quantum Griffiths singularity in disordered TiN thin films

Abstract: The association of quantum Griffiths singularity (QGS) to the magnetic-field-induced superconductor-metal transition predicts the unconventional diverging behaviour of dynamical critical exponent in low disorder crystalline two-dimensional superconductors. But whether this state exists in the superconducting systems exhibiting superconductor-insulator transition remains elusive. Here, we report the emergence of quantum Griffiths singularity in ultrathin disordered TiN thin films with more than two orders of magnitude variation in their normal state resistance. For both superconductor-metal transition and superconductor-insulator transition types, a diverging critical exponent is observed while approaching the quantum phase transition. Further, the magnetoresistance isotherms obey a direct activated scaling governed by an infinite-randomness fixed critical point. Finally, this work establishes the robustness of the QGS phenomenon towards a wide range of temperature and also towards a wide range of disorder strength as correlated with the normal state resistance., Comment: Accepted for publication in Communications Physics

Abstract: State-of-the art Text-To-Music (TTM) generative AI models are large and require desktop or server class compute, making them infeasible for deployment on mobile phones. This paper presents an analysis of trade-offs between model compression and generation performance of TTM models. We study compression through knowledge distillation and specific modifications that enable applicability over the various components of the TTM model (encoder, generative model and the decoder). Leveraging these methods we create TinyTTM (89.2M params) that achieves a FAD of 3.66 and KL of 1.32 on MusicBench dataset, better than MusicGen-Small (557.6M params) but not lower than MusicGen-small fine-tuned on MusicBench., Comment: Proceedings of INTERSPEECH 2024

Abstract: Compositionality is a fundamental aspect of vision-language understanding and is especially required for videos since they contain multiple entities (e.g. persons, actions, and scenes) interacting dynamically over time. Existing benchmarks focus primarily on perception capabilities. However, they do not study binding, the ability of a model to associate entities through appropriate relationships. To this end, we propose VELOCITI, a new benchmark building on complex movie clips and dense semantic role label annotations to test perception and binding in video language models (contrastive and Video-LLMs). Our perception-based tests require discriminating video-caption pairs that share similar entities, and the binding tests require models to associate the correct entity to a given situation while ignoring the different yet plausible entities that also appear in the same video. While current state-of-the-art models perform moderately well on perception tests, accuracy is near random when both entities are present in the same video, indicating that they fail at binding tests.
