Abstract

In cloud networks, especially those with distributed computing setups and data centers, one of the biggest obstacles is allocating resources. This is the key area, and this must be balanced between optimizing system performance on one side and affordability, stability (reliance) of operation, and energy efficiency. The importance of improving resource allocation methodologies in these complex cloud computing systems is recognized, and therefore this paper comes with an appropriate title-"Enhanced Feature-Driven Multi-Objective Learning for Optimal Cloud Resource Allocation" (OCRA), which integrates together both the latest machine learning techniques as well as traditional concepts from research into cloud computing. OCRA capably analyzes historical files on CPU, memory, disk and network usage. In addition to neatly assimilating large data sets such as that was the compliance rate with past SLAs or workload frequencies over certain time periods and resource allocations; even their patterns of service requests are an important piece of information for many busy people's lives today the adaptive mechanism is one of the defining traits of the model. It can accurately anticipate changes in resource demand and immediately adjust supply, fully able to respond rapidly when fluctuations arise suddenly or unexpectedly. Multi-Objective Random Forests are at the very core of OCRA. Each tree for decision making is specially designed to meet a particular performance objective in mind. Combining these trees into a Random Forest ensemble increases not only the model's predictive accuracy but also its stability. Pareto optimization is wisely used to maintain a balance among performance indicators, without an excessive focus on one effect alone. OCRA is proven empirically through experimental studies where key performance indicators such as Resource Utilization Rate and Quality of Service (QoS) Adherence Rate are taken into account. OCRA is both energy-efficient, an important attribute in today's environmentally conscious world, and does not sacrifice performance. As far as speed, flexibility and overall efficiency are concerned, OCRA has always been superior to the other cloud resources allocation programs of its own day. While it's still not quite ready for users who don't have a firm background in computer science or programming skills (ocra is plotted on 0-x), with sufficient memory and dominant minutes turn into mechanical equipment without configuration services. Abstract

Purpose: Resource allocation in cloud computing has significant importance, in adhering to optimal utilization of resources, and maintaining service quality among the service networks. Scores of machine learning models and other contemporary solutions were proposed for handling the resource allocation process. However, one of the challenges with many of the existing solutions is complexity in the process and occupying the space for internal application executions. Approach: Thus, in this manuscript, the attempt is to propose a simplistic approach of statistical model in the combination of average true range (ATR) and exponential moving average (EMA) models for multi-layer decision-making process. The proposed system is about identifying the average true range of service requests received and processed over time and applying the decision-making matrix at multiple scenarios. Findings: An experimental study of the model executed on a data generated from Cloudsim simulations, refers to the effectiveness of the system, wherein the accuracy is high in terms of indicating the potential need for alternate resources or optimal use of the existing resources. Originality: Considering the linearity of the model, it is effective for small-scale IaaS environments. In future research, a potential mode of applying the solution over a machine learning approach to improve the overall efficacy of the system can be considered more pragmatic for enhancing the outcome.

19. Protecting Android based applications from malware affected through SMS messages

Abstract

Users use Android-based applications for communicating through emailing, text messaging, and transmission of audio and video objects. The attackers manipulate the email, text, videos, or audio so that users' receipt of the messages causes malware through their handheld devices. A runtime routine is invoked, which causes damage to the local resources of the mobile phone. The manipulation of the messages is done using different signatures, making it difficult to recognize the same using a single approach. Multiple approaches are sometimes required to detect different signature-based incoming messages. Choosing a method that suits the signature of the incoming message is the key. Malware can also enter at the time of installing third-party apps, clicking on the links provided in the messages, installing and invoking the malware in the background. Many issues are involved in dealing with malware detecting, prevention, and curing. A comprehensive architecture is required to deal with every aspect of dealing malware. In this paper, a comprehensive architecture is presented that considers malware's issue, especially concerning malware affected through short message service (SMS) messages operated under the Android operating system. The disection of the SMS messages have been implemented and 99% accuracy has been achieved.

Abstract

Chapter 1; INTRODUCTION: A brief introduction of the land, language, people and their occupations and society are presented. The historical, political divisions of the land, influence of other languages on Telugu, and the caste system that exists in Telugu society are explained. The controversy that exists between the traditional school and the modern school in the fields of education and language policy is touched upon. A survey of earlier work on different aspects of Telugu phonology is given at the start of each chapter. This is followed by my own analyses in terms of prosodic phonology. Chapter 2: TELUGU PHONEMIC SYSTEMS: A review of previous accounts of the Telugu phonological system is given and it is shown how each system proposed is inadequate in the circumstances that obtain in the Telugu language today. Chapter 3: SYLLABLE STRUCTURE AND STRESS: Stress plays an important role in Sandhi, harmony and rhythm. Word stress is dealt with in this section. Syllable structure is treated along with stress so as to account for loss of syllables, syllable weight and so on. Problems related to social dialects are offered a solution. Chapter 4: COMPOUND WORDS AND RHYTHM: Scholars have grouped reduplicative forms, onomatopoeic forms and echo words together with compound noun forms. A new classification of these forms, on the basis of phonetic, phonological and semantic criteria is attempted in this section. The rhythm of compound words is described here. Chapter 5: HARMONY: The prosodic treatment of vowel harmony will be seen to be not only more economical but also more complete than previous analyses, i.e. it will cover many nominal and verbal suffixes hitherto unexplored. Chapter 6: SANDHI: The term Sandhi is used loosely for various kinds of morphological processes. An attempt is made to show how Telugu scholars gave different interpretations to the Sandhi phenomena. A phonetic-phonological classification of the processes is made and Sandhi rules are presented in terms of prosodic phonology. Chapter 7: REGIONAL AND SOCIAL DIALECTS - PROBLEMS OF STANDARDISATION: Speakers are able to choose among alternative linguistic means, any of which would satisfactorily communicate the propositional information. Selection among these alternatives defines the social situations. The question of standardisation is considered. Phonological systems in terms of prosodic theory are presented so as to account for differences between regional, social dialects and the 'standard' language. Chapter 8: CONCLUSIONS: The major findings of the thesis are summarized and discussed.

Abstract

Use of the same application by multiple users through internet as a service is supported by cloud computing system. Both the user and attacker stay in the same machine as both of them are users of the same application creating an in-secure environment. Service must ensure secrecy both at the application and data layer level. Data isolation and Application isolation are two basic aspects that must be ensured to cater for security as desired by the clients that accesses the service. In this paper a more secured mechanism has been presented that help ensuring data isolation and security when Multi-tenancy of the users to the same service has been implemented.

37. Mental health of people in Australia in the first month of COVID-19 restrictions: a national survey

OBJECTIVES: To estimate the population prevalence of clinically significant symptoms of depression, generalised anxiety, thoughts of being better off dead, irritability, and high optimism about the future, and of direct experience of COVID-19, loss of employment caused by COVID-19 restrictions, worry about contracting COVID-19, or major disadvantage because of the restrictions; to examine the relationship between these experiences and reporting mental symptoms. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS: Anonymous online survey of adult Australian residents, 3 April - 2 May 2020. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Self-reported psychological status during the preceding fortnight assessed with the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9; symptoms of depression) and the Generalised Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7). Optimism about the future was assessed with a 10-point study-specific visual analogue scale. RESULTS: 13 829 respondents contributed complete response data. The estimated prevalence of clinically significant symptoms of depression (PHQ-9 ≥ 10) was 27.6% (95% CI, 26.1-29.1%) and of clinically significant symptoms of anxiety (GAD-7 ≥ 10) 21.0% (95% CI, 19.6-22.4%); 14.6% of respondents (95% CI, 13.5-16.0%) reported thoughts of being better off dead or self-harm (PHQ-9, item 9) on at least some days and 59.2% (95% CI, 57.6-60.7%) that they were more irritable (GAD-7, item 6). An estimated 28.3% of respondents (95% CI, 27.1-29.6%) reported great optimism about the future (score ≥ 8). People who had lost jobs, were worried about contracting COVID-19, or for whom the restrictions had a highly adverse impact on daily life were more likely to report symptoms of depression or anxiety, and less likely to report high optimism than people without these experiences. CONCLUSIONS: Mental health problems were widespread among Australians during the first month of the stage two COVID-19 restrictions; in addition, about one-quarter of respondents reported mild to moderate symptoms of depression or anxie

Abstract

There is a huge demand for Ayurvedic plants all over the world and it has become a subject of deep research globally. Syonak is one of the ingredients of Dashamoola and is used in a large number of formulations in Ayurveda. Apart from its use as a part of Dashamoola, Syonaka is used as a single drug both internally and externally in inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis and various other ailments. It is one of the ingredients in many important Ayurvedic formulations, such as Dasamoolaristam, Dasamoola rasayanam, Amrutaristam, Chyavanaprasa and others. The proposed research study is an attempt to evaluate pharmacognostic, phytochemical and pharmacological profile of Ailanthus excelsa Roxb. and Oroxylum indicum (L) Benth. Ex. Kurz. The common names of both of these species as mentioned in ayurvedic literature is Syonak which is a matter of controversy. Root bark and Stem bark of both the plants is selected for the study as these parts are commonly used as a part of several Ayurvedic formulations. Phytochemical analysis revealed higher content of flavonoids and phenols in both root bark and stem bark of Syonak B compared to Syonak-A whereas alkaloids and glycosides content is found to be higher in both the parts of Syonak- A compared to Syonak-B. Antiageing activity is found to be higher and more consistent in Syonak-B compared to Syonak-A samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
