AbstractThe perimenopausal transition marks a significant phase in women’s lives, and the unforeseen challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic added complexity to this already intricate period. We investigated the mediating role of satisfaction with life between meaning in life and quality of life and adaptive strategies employed by perimenopausal women during the pandemic in India. Findings showed satisfaction with life as a strong mediator between meaning in life and quality of life. Thematic analysis identified a global theme of meaning in uncertainty and organizing themes: finding solace in self and actionable insights. The study emphasizes the need for understanding the meaning-making processes and adaptive strategies employed by women navigating perimenopause in the face of unprecedented global challenges. This review aims to understand the diverse impacts of menopause on the lives of women, with a specific emphasis on the psychological and emotional aspects, the search for meaning, the quality of life (QoL), and the personal and professional life changes that occur during this phase. Utilizing a narrative review methodology, this study employed databases such as PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, and Google Scholar. The criteria for inclusion encompassed articles that have undergone peer review, books, and papers presented at academic conferences that investigate the intersection of menopause, well-being, and the pursuit of meaning in life. Menopause substantially influences women's physical well-being, mental state, and social standing. In the course of this transformative stage, women may confront a variety of psychological and emotional difficulties, encompassing depression, anxiety, and irritability, which can have detrimental consequences for their overall QoL. In addition, a woman's perception of the significance of her life experiences undergoes alterations as she progresses through menopause. Applying efficacious coping mechanisms, such as educational initiatives regarding menopause, engagement in health-enhancing behaviors, and the availability of social support, can facilitate a more advantageous transition through this phase. Moreover, menopause presents distinctive challenges for individuals and organizations, emphasizing the significance of societal acceptance. The finding underscores the urgent requirement for enhanced psychological research, public discussion, and supportive environments to eradicate the stigma associated with menopause and foster the empowerment of women during this transformative phase. The current study presents a comprehensive narrative review examining the challenges faced by mental health professionals in India during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to COVID-19, India's mental health infrastructure was already under strain, characterized by a substantial treatment gap, scarcity of professionals, and a concentration of services in urban areas. The pandemic exacerbated these challenges, necessitating a swift transition to tele-counselling and online interventions, despite inherent limitations and ethical dilemmas. Increased cases of domestic violence, loneliness, and mood disorders during lockdowns highlighted the urgent need for effective mental health support. The paper discusses pre-existing issues such as stigma, lack of training institutes, and misconceptions about mental health in rural areas. It also explores innovative solutions, including the integration of spiritual and community leaders into mental health initiatives, to address the unique cultural context of India. The study underscores the urgent need for policy reforms, enhanced training, and collaborative approaches to bridge the treatment gap and ensure accessible mental health care in both urban and rural settings. During menopause, women undergo various physical and psychological changes that often create a significant challenge for most women to function in their daily activities. The present study explores the different literature findings on challenges women face during their menopausal stage, primarily cognitive and biological. The present study selected around seventy research papers under the timeline of 2000 to 2021 and collected from various medical journals such as Lancet and Menopause. Women during menopause often face cognitive challenges such as primary memory functioning, attention, and perception, which significantly lead to forgetfulness or dementia. Biologically, women in their menopause could develop hypertension, hair fall, skin loosening, coronary disease, and many more, which could cause significant damage to their daily functioning. The study further explored the condition of Indian women with their menopausal symptoms. Indian women tend to develop more challenges than many other countries due to a lack of medical facilities and poor personal relationships. Due to a lack of awareness and poor public policies, fewer provisions are in force for menopausal women. Moreover, working women tend to experience low self-esteem and poor confidence due to a lack of support and no specific policy for menopause. Necessary interventions such as yoga, psychological interventions, physical support, and awareness programs in general and at the workplace and other public spaces will help ensure a supportive environment for women during menopause. Sex trafficking is commercial sex induced by fraud, force, or coercion, which is a form of human trafficking for sexual exploitation. Women in any country of the world usually have less power, lower status, and lesser economic opportunities, and are not treated equally as men in their workforces and communities. These factors place females in a vulnerable position making them easy prey for sex traffickers. This study aimed to compare the meaning in life between survivors of sex trafficking and females from the general public. A total of 100 samples comprised this study, of which, 50 were female survivors of sex trafficking and 50 were females from the general public. The results show that for the current level of meaning in life, the p-value is .00, which is less than .05, hence there is a significant difference in the current level of meaning in life between the two groups. For the degree of searching for meaning in life, the p-value is .02, which is also less than .05, hence there is a significant difference in the degree of searching for meaning in life between the two groups. The mean for the current level of meaning in life is 67.09 for females from the general public, which is higher than the mean of 33.91 for female survivors of sex trafficking. For searching for meaning in life, the mean is 43.86 for females from the general public, which is lower than the mean of 57.14 for females rescued from sex trafficking. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective The objective of the study was to understand the challenges faced by nicotinedependent working women who were undergoing mindfulness-based relapse prevention (MBRP) for smoking relapse prevention. Method In this qualitative study, recruitment, and screening of participants were done to meet inclusion criteria. The final sample consisted of eight working women who underwent eight weeks of MBRP. Interviews were conducted post-intervention, and challenges captured. Thematic analysis was conducted to analyze data. Results The themes that emerged as challenges within the session were transitioning through the program, challenges in the practice of mindfulness, and homework. Challenges outside the session included identifying, and coping with triggers, and cravings, and being mindful through them. Conclusion Though MBRP has seen benefits its does not come without challenges. These challenges can be overcome if practitioners address such within their sessions with the clients. Sibling relation is an important subsystem of the family system. Attachment among sibling relations has been understudied despite considerable evidence on how this relationship can be influential in an individual's life. This study focuses on the emotional attachment siblings experience as part of growing in a family setup wherein a parent is diagnosed with schizophrenia. This study involved interviewing sibling dyads who had either parent suffering from schizophrenia while in their growing years. The sibling dyads were 18 years and above who had one parent diagnosed with schizophrenia. The analysis revealed that being together during the time of their parents' illness brought them closer as siblings. The situation at home also enabled them to take certain roles and responsibilities in the family. The analysis also brought out the differences in roles among the elder and younger sibling and how being in such situation enabled the younger sibling also to transition their role as well. Findings contribute to the understanding of how siblings create an emotional attachment among themselves with a severe situation at home. Also, findings contribute in understanding the importance of involving the family in the rehabilitation process thereby enabling the children to carry out their expected roles in the family. An emerging body of research shows that parental socialization of positive affect (PA) is implicated in youth functioning, although most evidence comes from Western countries. In this study, focusing on adolescent girls in India, we examined associations among reports of parents' responses to adolescent PA, adolescent PA regulation, and adolescent depression. A total of 238 adolescent girls (13–18 years) and one of their parents (54% mothers) were recruited. Participants completed questionnaires at the beginning of the school year (time 1) and five months later (time 2). At the bivariate level, parents' dampening and adolescent girls' dampening responses were each associated concurrently with adolescent depression at time 1. However, there were no significant direct associations between time 1 parents' dampening or enhancing responses and time 2 adolescent girls' depression (after controlling for time 1 depression). Using half‐longitudinal models, a significant indirect effect was found from parental dampening of PA to increased adolescent depression via adolescent girls' own increased dampening. No indirect effect was found from parental enhancing to adolescent depression via adolescent girls' increased positive rumination. Children of dual earning nuclear families tend to spend some time after school alone at home. The time spent without the supervision of adults is known as 'self-care1. The present study aimed to explore the past experiences of young adults (19 23 years) who have been in self-care during their early adolescent years. Participants were interviewed through an in-depth interview (n=7). The interviews were conducted orally, meeting face to face with the participants. The data acquired from these interviews were transcribed and analysed using thematic analysis. Individuals with autism have a pronounced struggle in social interaction, social communication and may display repetitive and restricted interests and behaviour. The etiology of autism, however, remains largely unknown. These behaviours can be challenging for the parents and the people in the environments the individuals move around. Early diagnosis and intervention have proven to be beneficial to curb or manage the challenging behaviours in children with autism. Interventions such as sensory integration, occupational therapy, speech therapy, special education, behaviour modification strategies all help to bridge the gap that the child may have as compared to their peers and contributes to normalizing their development. Successful intervention follows a timely diagnosis and for this to happen, symptoms must be recognized by the parents as early as possible and also be diagnosed by a health professional. There are several factors which lead to a delay in diagnosis of autism and the consequence being a deprivation of timely and appropriate intervention for the child. Some of them include lack of genetic markers, the co-occurrences of autism with other disabilities, improvement or changes in behaviours as the child grows, limited diagnostic tools, poor understanding and lack of knowledge among professionals and feelings of stigma in parents and family. Timely diagnosis and intervention are desirable as it plays a pivotal role in helping children with autism improve their communication skills; reduce meltdowns and opens up avenues for better parental compliance. Parents have to be educated about the early warning signs through awareness campaigns, and professionals have to improve their knowledge of autism as it is their diagnosis that sets the tone for intervention. Treatment of alcohol abuse and dependence has been the subject of much discussion given the high rates of relapse and the ever-growing number of alcohol users worldwide. Motivation to quit drinking is regarded as a key factor in determining successful treatment and long-term abstinence. The six stages of change provided by Prochaska and DiClemente's transtheoretical model of behavioral change has remained the gold standard in assessing the level of motivation of patients in recovery. In this study, motivation, or readiness to change, was compared between groups based on age (above and below 30 years) and number of treatment periods (first time and multiple times). Among a sample of 124 participants (mean age = 35.7 years), who had been admitted into residential rehabilitation centers in Bangalore, India, for alcohol-related problems, the eighth version of the Stages of Change Readiness and Treatment Eagerness Scale (SOCRATES 8A) was administered. It was found that there were no main effects of age of patient or number of treatment periods on readiness to quit among clients. It was also found that there was no interaction between age of clients and number of treatment periods. These results suggest that motivation/readiness is largely state-dependent and cannot be largely generalized as characteristic of one's age or number of treatment periods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
