Phenothiazines ˗ Antipsychotic drugs, which have been studied from centuries and attracted researcher's attention toward its antitumor activities apart from their fundamental neuroleptic properties. Hence, we have targeted different structures of phenothiazines to develop potent antitumor agents. In the present study, we have synthesized various heterocyclic derivatives incorporating phenothiazine compounds via one-pot multicomponent reaction by means of N-alkyl-3-formylphenothiazine under reflux/ultrasonic method and different spectral characterization techniques such as FT-IR, mass, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy were used to validate the molecular structures of the synthesized compounds. The antitumor properties of all the synthesized compounds were investigated using MTT and LDH assay against HeLa cell lines. The results shown that the compounds 4 b, 2a and 3a have maximum LDH release (57.69 ± 4.69, 57.7 ± 4.6 & 67.8 ± 4.9) at 1000 µg concentration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, a two degree of freedom(dof) quarter car vehicle model with skyhook damper passing through a rough road is considered. The skyhook damper control parameters namely the spring constant and the damping coefficient which determine the optimal performance of the skyhook damper. The optimal parameters of the skyhook damper are obtained by equating the control force of LQR with preview stochastic optimal control to that of skyhook damper. The parameters of the skyhook damper suspension are optimized to improve the vehicle performance to the level of active suspension system with preview control given by a performance index which is a weighted integral of the mean square acceleration, road holding, suspension stroke and control force. An efficient and simple method was developed for the synthesis pyrimidine-5-carboxamides using UO2(NO3)2.6H2O catalyst under conventional and microwave irradiation. The synthesis of dihydropyrimidine using uranyl nitrate had shown many advantages such as easy work up, shorter reaction times and higher yields using acetonitrile as a solvent. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectral data. This work is focused on sol-gel synthesis of silver and strontium co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles and their utilization as photo-catalysts in degradation of two textile dyes. Effect of pH, intensity of light, amount of photo-catalyst, concentration of dye, sensitizers, etc., were studied to optimize conditions for obtaining enhanced photo-catalytic activity of synthesized nanoparticles. XRD, BET, HR-TEM, EDAX and UV-Vis (diffused reflectance mode) techniques were used to characterize the nanoparticles. Interestingly, band gap of Sr and Ag co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles showed considerable narrowing (2.6 eV) when compared to Ag doped TiO2 (2.7 eV) and undoped TiO2 (3.17 eV) nanoparticles. Incorporation of Ag and Sr in the lattice of TiO2 could bring isolated energy levels near conduction and valence bands thus narrowing band gap. The XRD analysis shows that both Ag and Sr nanoparticles are finely dispersed on the surface of titania framework, without disturbing its crystalline structure. TEM images indicate that representative grain sizes of Ag-doped TiO2 & Sr and Ag co-doped TiO2 nanoparticles are in the range of 8-20 nm and 11-25 nm, respectively. Effective degradation of Direct Green-6 (DG-6) and Reactive Blue-160 (RB-160) under UV and visible light has been achieved using the photo-catalysts. Sr and Ag co-doped TiO2 photo-catalysts showed higher catalytic activity during degradation process in visible region when compared to Ag-doped and undoped TiO2 nanoparticles which could be attributed to the interactive effect caused by band gap narrowing and enhancement in charge separation. The ability of halophiles to survive in the extreme salt concentrations has gained them the importance of being used in the treatment of industrial waste waters. A moderately halophilic bacterial strain with the ability to degrade the complex azo dye Direct Blue-1 (DB-1) was isolated from sea water and identified as Marinobacter sp. strain HBRA. Complete decolorization of DB-1 (100 mg L(-1)) was achieved in 6h at 37 °C, pH 8 and with 70 g L(-1) NaCl. Decolorization was analyzed by UV-vis spectrophotometer. The FT-IR spectrum revealed that Marinobacter sp. strain HBRA specifically targeted azo bond (NN) at 1631 cm(-1) to break down Direct Blue-1. Formation of metabolites at different retention times in HPLC indicated degradation. Biotransformation pathway for DB-1 was proposed based on LC-MS. Phytotoxicity study revealed the less toxic nature of the metabolites compared to the dye. Genotoxicity with Allium cepa confirmed the cytotoxic nature of DB-1 by inducing several chromosomal abnormalities compared to the negligible effects of degraded metabolites. An efficient synthesis of different novel 2,5-dimethyl-N-substituted pyrrole derivatives by the Paal-Knorr condensation has been accomplished using uranyl nitrate hexahydrate as catalyst under soft conditions and ultrasonic irradiation. In the title compound, C(15)H(18)N(2)O(5)·H(2)O, the pyrimidine ring adopts a flattened-boat conformation. The eth-oxy group attached to the benzene ring is in an extended conformation. The oxopyrimidine mol-ecules are linked into centrosymmetric R(2) (2)(20) dimers by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The dimers are linked by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network parallel to the bc plane. Adjacent networks are cross-linked via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules.
