Managing children and cooperation through effective pain control techniques during dental procedures presents a significant challenge in pediatric dentistry. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, children exhibit diverse cognitive and emotional development levels, leading to varied pain responses. Dental procedures often entail the administration of painful and distressing local anesthesia injections in children. (1) Administering local anesthetic (LA) injections is typically the most frightening and anxiety-inducing experience for children in pediatric dental practices. The fear of pain caused by these injections poses a significant obstacle to providing proper dental care. Ensuring appropriate local anesthesia is crucial for the successful treatment of children, as it helps alleviate anxiety and pain during various dental procedures. Various methods have been explored to reduce the pain associated with LA injections. These methods include using topical anesthetics, slowing down the infiltration rate, distracting the children, vibrating the tissue around the injection site, and applying heat or cold before the injection. (2) Lowlevel lasers are now employed in dentistry to address pain management concerns. They have found application in diminishing discomfort experienced during both intradermal and intramuscular injections. (3) The use of low-level lasers for reducing injection pain in pediatric dental practice is sparse. There are only a few studies documented in the literature that explore the use of PBM to prevent pain caused by injections in both adults and children. Thus, the objective of the present study is to assess the impact of photobiomodulation therapy on pain perception during local anesthesia administration in pediatric patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
