Research Findings: Parents make child care decisions based on their existing perceptions of early care and education (ECE) arrangements. Through secondary analysis of the National Survey of Early Care and Education data on parents of preschooler (n = 1674), an exploratory latent profile analysis was conducted to identify distinct profiles of parents based on their ratings of three regular ECE arrangements: center-based child care, family child care (FCC), and family, friend, and neighbor (FFN) care. The findings did not indicate a clear preference for a specific type of arrangements among preschool parents. Rather, two distinct profiles emerged: "favorable across all settings" and "less favorable, prefer FFN care". For both profiles, FCC was rated lower than FFN care across almost all dimensions. A set of family demographics predicted the profile membership, such as family income, parental employment, and subsidy receipt. Practice or Policy: The reauthorization of the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 2014 requires states to develop consumer education programs to support families in their ECE search. Given that parents have to make tradeoffs when making ECE decisions, state government agencies need to provide credible, updated, and culturally-responsive information to help parents make informed choices.

The current proof-of-concept study evaluated enCompass, a community-based SUD knowledge and stigma intervention.In 2021, 22 enCompass trainings were offered to community members in partnership with the Ohio Governor’s RecoveryOhio initiative to 22 Ohio counties with high numbers of overdose deaths. Participants of the current study included 492 individuals who completed surveys measuring knowledge of SUD treatment and medication, and SUD stigma (i.e., stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination), before and after the intervention. Implementation-related outcomes (i.e., acceptability, appropriateness, feasibility) were also measured after the intervention.Participants’ knowledge increased, and their SUD stigma decreased, from before to after the intervention. Participants strongly agreed that the intervention was acceptable, appropriate, and feasible.Although more testing with longitudinal, randomized designs is needed, preliminary results suggest that enCompass is a promising community-based SUD knowledge and stigma intervention. Purchasing, consumption, and health data from 3,073 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Shoppers (SNAP) at 77 U.S. farmers' markets (FMs) are reported. Descriptive and bivariate analyses indicate SNAP households spent $345/month on all groceries and $153.76/month on all fruit and vegetable (FV) purchases; daily FV consumption significantly correlated with percentage of household expenditures on FV and household FV dollars/month. Females and Hispanics spent significantly more on FV. 82% of participants were food insecure and 26.1% reported fair/poor health. Average BMI was 28.5. Findings suggest SNAP FM shoppers have unique FV expenditure and consumption patterns, despite higher food insecurity, meriting future research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
