The paper illustrates the outcome of a design research project aimed to test the opportunity to apply the Design Thinking approach to the development of products, services and experiences aimed to raise the consumers awareness about domestic energy saving. The methodology adopted combines instruments and practices of user-centered product-service design, of behavior and interaction design by bringing together cutting-edge technologies and cognitive sciences. The project wishes to outline a product-service system focused on users following a facilitated interaction process through devices connected to domestic appliances. The paper deals with the subject Education from two points of view. On the one hand the research is oriented to involve users education in terms of energy consumption awareness, knowledge and sensibility. On the other part in the project have converged the results of design experiments carried out inside the degree courses of Design from 2009 to nowadays.

Biofabricated mira all’indagine di tecnologie ibridanti al confine tra fashion, design products e microbiologia per la sperimentazione di nuovi processi manifatturieri. Muovendosi in una visione transdisciplinare che mette in relazione competenze scientifiche eterogenee, la proposta progettuale indaga la fattibilità di sistemi produttivi che combinano tecniche di biohacking e DIY materials, mediante una progettualità circolare e innovativa. Il progetto prevede la sperimentazione di tre processi di biofabbricazione - Microbial Skins, Plantae 3D Craft, BioDyeing Bacteria - attraverso l’utilizzo di organismi viventi, materiali organici, tecnologie e strumentazioni di laboratorio. L’obiettivo è quello di verificare e promuovere una nuova industria sostenibile, attivando pratiche transdisciplinari in grado di costruire processi volti a nuove sensorialità estetiche e materiche. Attraverso una piattaforma comunicativa in open access e diverse attività di disseminazione abilitanti, Biofabricated coinvolge designer e stakeholder, per rinsaldarne in maniera più consapevole pratiche virtuose.

La ricerca “Analisi critica e linee strategiche per il potenziamento del sistema moda in Campania”, coordinata dall’Università degli Studi della Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” in collaborazione con i cinque atenei regionali, ha avuto l’obiettivo di promuovere il patrimonio culturale campano della moda e del design, attraverso lo sviluppo di strategie innovative utili a guidare la Regione Campania alla comprensione e alla valorizzazione della filiera fashion-oriented. Tra i diversi risultati della ricerca, il paper illustra la progettazione dell’organismo regionale e del brand MODEC - Moda e Design in Campania, il cui scopo è sostenere e promuovere le imprese, il tessuto produttivo e il capitale umano territoriale; e la sezione “Archivi Viventi”, un archivio digitale sul capitale umano d’eccellenza, della piattaforma digitale Fashion Open Book (in corso di pubblicazione) caratterizzata da una mappatura conoscitiva delle imprese e del patrimonio monumentale e produttivo di settore. La piattaforma, progettata secondo la logica “open access”, offre alla collettività la possibilità di osservare, implementare e scaricare materiali di ricerca inediti volti a valorizzare il comparto Campano della moda campana.

Background One of the most effective surgeries for sustainable weight loss in morbidly obese patients is laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). The present study aimed to assess the adherence of LSG patients with respect to following post-operative dietary requirements and micronutrient supplementation, as well as to investigate their perceived barriers in achieving optimal adherence. Methods Retrospective data analysis was performed (3, 6, 9 and 12 months after LSG) using the medical records of 96 morbidly obese patients who had undergone LSG at our institution during 2011–2013. Data collected from patient records were: adherence to prescribed diet; adherence to prescribed consumption of fruit, vegetables, legumes and cereals; use of prescribed micronutrient supplements; and barriers to diet and micronutrient therapy adherence. Data were analysed using spss, version 14.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results At 3, 6, 9 and 12 months post-LSG, the rates of patient non-adherence to a prescribed diet were 39%, 45%, 51% and 74%, respectively. In particular, there was a low consumption of fruit, vegetables, legumes and cereals compared to the post-surgery prescription. In addition, the rates of patient non-adherence to prescribed micronutrient supplements at 3, 6, 9 and 12 months post-LSG were 43%, 51%, 59% and 67%, respectively. The main reasons for patient non-adherence to diet were poor self-discipline (72%) and poor family support (11%) whereas difficulty swallowing pills or capsules (61%) and cost (20%) were reported as the main barriers to post-LSG adherence. Conclusions Morbidly obese patients who have undergone LSG do not follow exactly the post-operative dietary guidelines, including micronutrient therapy.
