Atualmente, há uma cobrança de seus stakeholders no sentido de reduzir essas emissões, no entanto é observada uma tendência de aumento da atividade e de suas emissões tanto em nível mundial quanto no Brasil. Este estudo fez uma análise das opções de mitigação das emissões de GEE dos segmentos de Exploração e Produção (E&P) e do Refino da indústria de petróleo e gás natural, com base em ações já adotadas por empresas, regulamentações e melhores práticas tecnológicas implementadas em diferentes países. Para isso, foram construídos quatro cenários, sendo um tendencial, representando reduções de emissões a partir de ações já tomadas pela indústria, e três incluindo as opções de mitigação propostas. Como resultado, são observados os maiores potenciais de redução de emissões de GEE no segmento de Exploração e Produção e nos cenários referentes à aplicação de Captura e Armazenamento de Carbono (CCS). The oil and natural gas industry is responsible for the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) that occurs from the burning of fossil fuels and emissions from fugitive sources. Currently, stakeholders urge in order to reduce these emissions, however, there is a trend of increasing activity and emissions both in the world and in Brazil. This study analyzed the mitigation options for GHG emissions from the Upstream and Downstream, based on actions already taken by companies, regulations and best technological practices implemented in different countries. For this, four scenarios were constructed, one characterizes a trend, representing emission reductions from actions already taken by the industry, and three including proposed mitigation options. As a result, are observed the greatest GHG emission reduction potentials are related to Upstream and to the Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) application scenario.
