Several different methods can be used for the simulation of analog circuit with uncertain parameters. The uncertainties can have different root causes, for example manufacturing tolerances, aging or ambient temperature. Common simulation methods like the Corner Case or Monte Carlo method have the disadvantage that they do not include all characteristics caused by all the possible parameter combinations. Methods based on range arithmetics can be used as an alternative. They guarantee the inclusion of all characteristics. The equation systems that need to be solved are in general implicit and nonlinear. In previous works an algorithm called EPD method was introduced. However, the size of the circuits and the size of parameter uncertainties which can be solved by this method is limited. This is due to the overapproximation caused by the affine arithmetic and the properties of the EPD method itself. One approach to increase the convergence range is the utilization of splitting and merging. The parameter space is divided, calculations are done with divided parameters and the results are merged afterwards. To not slow down the simuation by this approach it is reasonable to perfom the split only if a solution is not possible otherwise. Two critierions are presented to perform such an automatic split decision. Furthermore, different splitting and merging stratgies are compared in terms of runtime, overapproximation and required number of splits. The results show that the circuit size and the maximum size of parameter uncertainties can be increased by this method. By chosing the right strategies runtime can be traded for overapproximation. The optimal strategies and the gain in convergence range depent on the circuit which is simulated., Zur Simulation von mit Parameterunsicherheiten behafteten Analogschaltungen können verschiedene Verfahren eingesetzt werden. Die Parameterunsicherheiten können verschiedene Ursachen wie Fertigungstoleranzen, Alterung oder wechselnde Umgebungstemperaturen haben. Herkömmliche Verfahren zur Simulation von Parameterunsicherheiten wie das Corner-Case- oder das Monte-Carlo-Verfahren besitzen den Nachteil, dass der Einschluss der Schaltungseigenschaften, die durch die verschiedenen Kombinationen der Parameter möglich sind, nicht garantiert ist. Als Alternative können gebietsarithmetische Verfahren eingesetzt werden. Sie garantieren den Einschluss aller Eigenschaften. Im Allgemeinen sind die dabei zu lösenden Gleichungssysteme implizit und nichtlinear. Zur Lösung dieser Gleichungssysteme mit Hilfe von affiner Arithmetik wurde in vorherigen Arbeiten das EPD-Verfahren vorgestellt. Die mit diesem Verfahren simulierbare Schaltungsgröße und die maximale Größe der Parameterunsicherheiten ist begrenzt. Dies liegt zum einen an der Überschätzung, die durch die affine Arithmetik verursacht wird, und zum anderen an den Eigenschaften des EPD-Verfahrens selbst. Ein Ansatz zur Vergrößerung des Konvergenzgebiets ist der Einsatz von Gebietsaufteilungen und -zusammenfassungen. Dazu wird der Parameterraum aufgeteilt, mit den geteilten Parametern getrennt berechnet und schließlich wieder zusammengefügt. Um die Simulation durch diesen Ansatz nicht unnötig zu verlangsamen, ist es sinnvoll, die Aufteilung nur an Punkten durchzuführen, die ohne Aufteilungen nicht lösbar sind. Dazu werden im Rahmen dieser Arbeit zwei Kriterien vorgestellt anhand derer solche automatischen Aufteilungen durchgeführt werden können. Weiterhin werden verschiedene Aufteilungs- und Zusammenfassungsstrategien vorgestellt und miteinander verglichen. Verglichen werden hierbei die benötigte Laufzeit, die entstehende Überschätzung und die benötigte Anzahl der Aufteilungen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass auf diese Weise die simulierbare Schaltungsgröße und die maximale Größe der Parameterunsicherheiten vergrößert werden kann. Durch die Wahl der Strategien kann Laufzeit gegen Überschätzung eingetauscht werden. Die optimale Strategie und die mögliche Vergrößerung des Konvergenzgebiets sind dabei von der zu simulierenden Schaltung abhängig.

The behaviour of systems is determined by various parameters. Due to several reasons like e. g. manufacturing tolerances these parameters can have some uncertainties. Corner Case and Monte Carlo simulations are well known approaches to handle uncertain systems. They sample the corners and random points of the parameter space, respectively. Both require many runs and do not guarantee the inclusion of the worst case. As alternatives, range based approaches can be used. They model parameter uncertainties as ranges. The simulation outputs are ranges which include all possible results created by the parameter uncertainties. One type of range arithmetic is the affine arithmetic, which allows to maintain linear correlations to avoid over-approximation. An equation solver based on affine arithmetic has been proposed earlier. Unlike many other range based approaches it can solve implicit non-linear equations. This is necessary for analog circuit simulation. For large uncertainties the solver suffers from convergence problems. To overcome these problems it is possible to split the parameter ranges, calculate the solutions separately and merge them again. For higher dimensional systems this leads to excessive runtimes as each parameter is split. To minimize the additional runtime several split and merge strategies are proposed and compared using two analog circuit examples.

We present results of recent development of the color X-ray camera, type SLcam®, allowing detection of X-ray images with few microns resolution. Such spectral resolution is achieved with the use of high-quality polycapillary optics combined with sub-pixel resolution. Imaging of Siemens star resolution test chart reveals that the resolution limit of SLcam® can go down to nearly 5μm. Several real sample examples of measurements carried out at the laboratory, synchrotron, and particle-induced X-ray emission beamlines are shown. This is the first time SLcam® is used as particle-induced X-ray emission detector.
