Throughout the past decades, the study and making scientific maps has been taken into consideration and raised as one of the scientific studies’ indicators in various fields. The present study examines scientific productions in the Journal of Translation Researches in the Arabic Language and Literature which is present at ISC. The purpose of this study is to review the authors' scientific activities in the Journal of Translation Researches in the Arabic Language and Literature, along with their scientific network in order to make their scientific information visible. This has been possible and tractable through the interactions between authors and Universities. This research is a scientometric study that was performed with a quantitative method and citation analysis. The research population contains all articles in the Journal of Translation Researches in the Arabic Language and Literature selected from 2011 to 2019, which are indexed in ISC science citation index (SCI). The maps were made using co-citation analysis and completed by VOSviewer software. The findings show that the authors’ scientific contributions in this journal are at a desirable level. On the other hand, there is a positive and significant correlation between the variables of scientific communication and scientific production. In other words, those authors with more productions are more involved with other authors in writing articles. The results of the present study emphasize on the importance of publishing articles in the Journal of Translation Researches in the Arabic Language and Literature and the scientific collaboration between authors and universities.

The article examines the role of a famous American scientist Eugene Garfield in creating Web of Science, one of the world largest modern systems for indexing and citing scientific publications. The author notes the importance of considering not only quantitative but qualitative parameters to evaluate the science development, which have been indicated by Garfield. The paper contains historical information about the Web of Science system creation; characterizes general features of the modern state system. It shows the system importance as a possible tool of scientometric analysis.

ObjectivesThis research was intended to analyze the special characteristics and structure of social networks among Korean medical schools for the purpose of providing knowledge regarding medical field structure, dynamics, and potential paradigm development.MethodsA collaborative 12-year data set of 35,469 published articles in the SCOPUS® database was analyzed. Among ISI subcategories, 61 having more than 20 articles were scrutinized. Following identification of correspondence and co-authorship, centralization indices and Key Player analysis were run for each subcategory. Medical schools were grouped into uniform clusters with convergence of iterated correlation (CONCOR) for structural equivalence. Finally, multidimensional scaling was used to visualize similarities.ResultsAll centralization indexes analyzed demonstrated a shift in the degree of centralization in the network of medical schools throughout the period examined. Betweenness centrality and eigenvector centrality in particular revealed a dramatic change indicating minimization of the role of a specific "gatekeeper". Key Player analysis confirmed Seoul National University as a constant 'key player' throughout the period evaluated and for the subcategories examined as well.ConclusionsThis study provided insight into the scientific network among the medical schools of Korea. By understanding this network, a strategy to strengthen the basis of research may be developed.

In the article, the authors set out to determine the degree of influence of factors (the university profile, the year of its foundation, the number of research and teaching staff, the population of the city in which the educational institution is located) on the indicators of the publishing activity rating of teachers of Ukrainian universities (according to the Hirsch index, which determined by the indicators of the SciVerse Scopus database). One-way analysis of variance and multiple regression models were used for this. As a result, the influence of all the proposed factors was revealed, although the degree of influence for each of them turned out to be different. The article also determines the degree of influence of these factors on the operational indicator of scientific activity of teachers - the number of citations in 2018–2019 of articles written in 2018 per one researcher or instructor. In this case, the same methods showed the influence of only two factors - the profile of the university and the number of research and teaching staff. Conclusions are drawn about the need for building university rankings using operational (rather than cumulative) indicators of scientific activity and the importance of taking into account the profile of educational institutions by introducing weighting factors.
