We study a matter turbulence caused by strong random hypermagnetic fields (HMFs ) that influence the baryon asymmetry evolution due to the Abelian anomalies in the symmetric phase in the early Universe. Such a matter turbulence is stipulated by the presence of the advection term in the induction equation for which a fluid velocity is dominated by the Lorentz force in the Navier-Stokes equation. For random HMFs, having nonzero mean squared strengths, we calculate the spectra for the HMF energy and the HMF helicity densities. The latter function governs the evolution of the fermion asymmetries in the symmetric phase before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT). In the simplest model based on the first SM generation for the lepton asymmetries of $e_\mathrm{R,L}$ and $\nu_{e_\mathrm{L}}$, we calculate a decline of all fermion asymmetries including the baryon asymmetry, given by the `t Hooft conservation law, when one accounts for a turbulence of HMFs during the universe cooling down to EWPT. We reconsider the problem of the birefringence of electromagnetic (EM) waves in a medium consisting of a plasma and a $\nu\bar{\nu}$-gas within the Standard Model of particle physics. The considered effect arises in such a medium due to the parity violation for the electroweak neutrino-electron interaction. Our recent calculations of the electroweak correction to the photon polarization operator in the electroweak plasma allow us to significantly improve some previous estimates of such effect in astrophysics. We estimate the rotary power for EM waves propagating in a non-relativistic plasma in the intergalactic space and interacting with the gas of relic neutrinos and antineutrinos there. We show that, in presence of a plasma, the EM wave birefringence effect in a $\nu\bar{\nu}$-gas exceeds significantly that effect in a $\nu\bar{\nu}$-gas in empty space considered earlier. These previous treatments of the birefringence relied on the calculations of the refraction index for on-shell photons in vacuum using the forward scattering amplitude $\gamma\nu\to \gamma\nu$ with virtual charged leptons in Feynman diagrams. The Adler-Bell-Jackiw anomaly for massive particles is studied in an external magnetic field. The contributions of the mean spin and the pseudoscalar are accounted for in the quasiclassical approximation. The equation for the evolution of the magnetic helicity with the new quantum corrections is derived. We show that the quantum contribution to the helicity evolution can overcome the classical one in the dense degenerate matter which can be present in the core of a neutron star. We suggest the generalization of the Anomalous Magneto-Hydro-Dynamics (AMHD) in the chiral plasma of a neutron star (NS) accounting for the mean spin in the ultrarelativistic degenerate electron gas within the magnetized NS core as a continuing source of the chiral magnetic effect. Using the mean field dynamo model generalized in AMHD, one can obtain the growth of a seed magnetic field up to $10^{18}\,\text{G}$ for an old non-superfluid NS at its neutrino cooling era $t < 10^6\,\text{yr}$, while neglecting any matter turbulence within its core and assuming the rigid NS rotation. We analyze the role of the surface terms in the conservation law for the sum of the magnetic helicity density and the chiral imbalance of the charged particle densities. These terms are neglected in the Anomalous MagnetoHydroDynamics (AMHD), where infinite volume is considered typically. We discuss a finite volume system, such as a magnetized neutron star (NS), and study the contribution of the surface terms to the evolution of the magnetic helicity. Accounting for the fast washing out of the chiral imbalance in a nascent NS, we demonstrate that the surface terms contribution can potentially lead to the reconnection of magnetic field lines and subsequent gamma or X-ray bursts observed from magnetars. We derive the additional surface terms originated by the mean spin flux through a volume boundary arising due to macroscopic spin effects in electron-positron plasma. The neutrino asymmetry in the early universe plasma, $n_\nu - n_{\bar \nu}$, is calculated both before and after the electroweak phase transition (EWPT). In the Standard Model before EWPT, the leptogenesis is well known to be driven by the abelian anomaly in a massless hypercharge field. The generation of the neutrino asymmetry in the Higgs phase after EWPT, in its turn, has not been considered previously because of the absence of any quantum anomaly in an external electromagnetic field for such electroneutral particles as neutrino, unlike the Adler-Bell-Jackiw anomaly for charged left and right polarized massless electrons in the same electromagnetic field. Using the neutrino Boltzmann equation, modified by the Berry curvature term in the momentum space, we establish the violation of the macroscopic neutrino current in plasma after EWPT and exactly reproduce the nonconservation of the lepton current in the symmetric phase before EWPT arising in quantum field theory due to the nonzero lepton hypercharge and corresponding triangle anomaly in an external hypercharge field. In the last case, the non-conservation of the lepton current is derived through the kinetic approach without a computation of corresponding Feynman diagrams. Then the new kinetic equation is applied for the calculation of the neutrino asymmetry accounting for the Berry curvature and the electroweak interaction with background fermions in the Higgs phase. Such an interaction generates a neutrino asymmetry through the electroweak coupling of neutrino currents with electromagnetic fields in plasma, which is $\sim G_\mathrm{F}^2$. We elaborate the quasiclassical approach to obtain the modified chiral magnetic effect in the case when massless charged fermions interact with electromagnetic fields and the background matter by the electroweak forces. The derivation of the anomalous current along the external magnetic field involves the study of the energy density evolution of chiral particles in parallel electric and magnetic fields. We consider both the particle acceleration by the external electric field and the contribution of the Adler anomaly. The condition of the validity of this method for the derivation of the chiral magnetic effect is formulated. We obtain the expression for the electric current along the external magnetic field, which appears to coincide with our previous results based on the purely quantum approach. We study the magnetohydrodynamics of relativistic plasmas accounting for the chiral magnetic effect (CME). To take into account the evolution of the plasma velocity, obeying the Navier-Stokes equation, we approximate it by the Lorentz force accompanied by the phenomenological drag time parameter. On the basis of this ansatz, we obtain the contributions of both the turbulence effects, resulting from the dynamo term, and the magnetic field instability, caused by the CME, to the evolution of the magnetic field governed by the modified Faraday equation. In this way, we explore the evolution of the magnetic field energy and the magnetic helicity density spectra in the early Universe plasma. We find that the right-left electron asymmetry is enhanced by the turbulent plasma motion in a strong seed magnetic field compared to the pure the CME case studied earlier for the hot Universe plasma in the same broken phase., Comment: 18 pages in LaTeX2e, 7 eps figures; some typos are corrected, matches the version to be published in Phys.Rev.D

We study the magnetic field generation in a neutron star within the model based on the magnetic field instability in the nuclear matter owing to the electron-nucleon parity violating interaction. We suggest that the growing magnetic field takes the energy from thermal background fermions in the neutron star matter. The system of kinetic equations for the spectra of the magnetic helicity density and magnetic energy density as well as the chiral imbalance are solved numerically accounting for this energy source. We obtain that, for the initial conditions corresponding to a typical neutron star, the large scale magnetic field $\sim 10^{15}\thinspace\text{G}$ is generated during $(10^4-10^5)\thinspace\text{yr}$. We investigate the evolution of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) in its symmetric phase before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) induced by leptogenesis in the hypermagnetic field of an arbitrary structure and with a maximum hypermagnetic helicity density. The novelty of this work is that the BAU has been calculated for a continuous hypermagnetic helicity spectrum. The observed BAU $B_{obs} = 10^{-10}$ that can be in large-scale hypermagnetic fields satisfying the wave number inequality $k \leq k_{max}$ grows with increasing $k_{max}$. We will also show that the initial right-handed electron asymmetry $\xi_{eR}(\eta_0)$ used in our leptogenesis model as a free parameter cannot take too large values, $\xi_{eR}(\eta_0) = 10^{-4}$, because this leads to a negative BAU by the EWPT time. In contrast, a sufficiently small initial right-handed electron asymmetry, $\xi_{eR}(\eta_0)$, provides its further growth and the corresponding BAU growth from zero to some positive value,including the observed $B_{obs} = 10^{-10}$., Comment: 9 pages, 3 figures

We study the instability of magnetic fields in a neutron star core driven by the parity violating part of the electron-nucleon interaction in the Standard Model. Assuming a seed field of the order $10^{12}\thinspace\text{G}$, that is a common value for pulsars, one obtains its amplification due to such a novel mechanism by about five orders of magnitude, up to $10^{17}\thinspace\text{G}$, at time scales $\sim (10^3 - 10^5)\thinspace\text{yr}$. This effect is suggested to be a possible explanation of the origin of the strongest magnetic fields observed in magnetars. The growth of a seed magnetic field energy density is stipulated by the corresponding growth of the magnetic helicity density due to the presence of the anomalous electric current in the Maxwell equation. Such an anomaly is the sum of the two competitive effects: (i) the chiral magnetic effect driven by the difference of chemical potentials for the right and left handed massless electrons and (ii) constant chiral electroweak electron-nucleon interaction term, which has the polarization origin and depends on the constant neutron density in a neutron star core. The remarkable issue for the decisive role of the magnetic helicity evolution in the suggested mechanism is the arbitrariness of an initial magnetic helicity including the case of non-helical fields from the beginning. We show that the Standard Model electroweak interaction of ultrarelativistic electrons with nucleons ($eN$ interaction) in a neutron star (NS) permeated by a seed large-scale helical magnetic field provides its growth up to $\gtrsim 10^{15}\thinspace\text{G}$ during a time comparable with the ages of young magnetars $\sim 10^4\thinspace\text{yr}$. The magnetic field instability originates from the parity violation in the $eN$ interaction entering the generalized Dirac equation for right and left massless electrons in an external uniform magnetic field. We calculate the averaged electric current given by the solution of the modified Dirac equation containing an extra current for right and left electrons (positrons), which turns out to be directed along the magnetic field. Such current includes both a changing chiral imbalance of electrons and the $eN$ potential given by a constant neutron density in NS. Then we derive the system of the kinetic equations for the chiral imbalance and the magnetic helicity which accounts for the $eN$ interaction. By solving this system, we show that a sizable chiral imbalance arising in a neutron protostar due to the Urca-process $e^-_\mathrm{L} + p\to N + \nu_\mathrm{eL}$ diminishes very rapidly because of a huge chirality flip rate. The magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) is modified to incorporate the parity violation in the Standard Model leading to a new instability of magnetic fields in the electroweak plasma in the presence of nonzero neutrino asymmetries. The main ingredient for such a modified MHD is the antisymmetric part of the photon polarization tensor in plasma, where the parity violating neutrino interaction with charged leptons is present. We calculate this contribution to the polarization tensor connected with the Chern-Simons term in effective Lagrangian of the electromagnetic field. The general expression for such a contribution which depends on the temperature and the chemical potential of plasma as well as on the photon's momentum is derived. The instability of a magnetic field driven by the electron neutrino asymmetry for the $\nu$-burst during the first second of a supernova explosion can amplify a seed magnetic field of a protostar, and, perhaps, can explain the generation of strongest magnetic fields in magnetars. We study lepton asymmetry evolution in plasma of the early Universe before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) accounting for chirality flip processes via Higgs decays (inverse decays) entering equilibrium at temperatures below T_RL ~ 10 TeV, T_EW < T < T_RL. We solve appropriate kinetic equations for leptons and Higgs bosons taking into account the lepton number violation due to Abelian anomalies for right and left electrons and neutrinos in the self-consistent hypercharge field obeying Maxwell equations modified by the contribution of the Standard Model of electroweak interactions. The violation of left lepton numbers and the corresponding violation of the baryon number due to sphaleron processes in symmetric phase is taken into account as well. Assuming the Chern-Simons wave configuration of the seed hypercharge field, we get the estimates of baryon and lepton asymmetries evolved from the primordial right electron asymmetry existing alone as partial asymmetry at T > T_RL. One finds a strong dependence of the asymmetries on the Chern-Simons wave number. We study baryon asymmetry generation originated from the leptogenesis in the presence of hypermagnetic fields in the early Universe plasma before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT). For the simplest Chern-Simons (CS) wave configuration of hypermagnetic field we find the baryon asymmetry growth when the hypermagnetic field value changes due to alpha^2-dynamo and the lepton asymmetry rises due to the Abelian anomaly. We solve the corresponding integro-differential equations for the lepton asymmetries describing such self-consistent dynamics for lepto- and baryogenesis in the two scenarios : (i) when a primordial lepton asymmetry sits in right electrons e_R; and (ii) when, in addition to e_R, a left lepton asymmetry for e_L and nu_eL arises due to chirality flip reactions provided by inverse Higgs decays at the temperatures, T
