Purpose: to study the impact of swimming classes in a non-profiled university on the health potential and physical fitness of students. Methods and organization of research: standard methods of research of student health indicators, educational testing, questionnaire, expert assessment, observation, mathematical processing of research outcomes. The study involved 40 male students aged 18±1 years of the 1st and 2nd years of study of Kazan State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, without health restrictions. The participants were divided into experimental and control groups with 20 people in each group. Research results and discussion. At the beginning of the first semester, we identified the indicators of cardiovascular, respiratory system and physical fitness of students. During next four semesters, students of the control group participated in practical classes on the traditional program of physical education for a major group of university students (twice a week for two hours). Students in the experimental group had one traditional class and one swimming class per week. At the end of the fourth semester, we reassessed previously studied indicators for the students in experimental and control groups and compared the outcomes. Conclusion. The research revealed that the implementation of swimming classes in physical education programs of non-profiled universities even in small volumes (once a week for 2 hours) result in the improvement of indicators of student health potential and physical fitness. In particular, the suggested training strategy provided the improvement of the following indicators: cardiovascular indicators according to the Ruthier test and orthostatic test by 18.4% and 21.3% respectively, respiratory indicators according to the Shtange and Genchi test – by 9.1% and 12.5%, physical fitness indicators for the sit-up exercise – by 22.8%, for the push-up exercise – by 15.6%.

Reducing size and using of transistors with a vertical gate (FinFET) has led to a significant change and expansion of a set of constructive layout design rules. The three-dimensional structure of the FinFET device and the additional layers appeared between the first metal and the transistor structure changed the parameters of the parasitic elements. Task of extracting parasitic elements in comparison with planar technologies is significantly more complicated. The paper compares two libraries — 7nm FinFET and 28nm planar CMOS to assess of affect new types of parasitic elements. Similar sets of library elements, including “clean” netlists and extracted netlists for each library element, were investigated. The evaluation of the performance degradation was carried out on the standard sets of circuits ISCAS 85/89. The results of the study showed that the average delay degradation is up to 44% for FinFET technology, and up to 37% for CMOS technology.

The Factor for Inversion Stimulation (FIS) is a dimeric DNA binding protein found in enteric bacteria that is involved in various cellular processes, including stimulation of certain specialized DNA recombination events and transcription regulation of a large number of genes. The intracellular FIS concentration, when cells are grown in rich media, varies dramatically during the early logarithmic growth phase. Its broad range of concentrations could potentially affect the nature of its quaternary structure, which in turn, could affect its ability to function in vivo. Thus, we examined the stability of FIS homodimers under a wide range of concentrations relevant to in vivo expression levels. Its urea-induced equilibrium denaturation was monitored by far- and near-UV circular dichroism (CD), tyrosine fluorescence, and tyrosine fluorescence anisotropy. The denaturation transitions obtained were concentration-dependent and showed similar midpoints (C(m)) and m values, suggesting a two-state denaturation process involving the native dimer and unfolded monomers (N(2)--2U). The DeltaG(H(2)O) for the unfolding of FIS determined from global and individual curve fitting was 14.2 kcal/mole. At concentrations9 microM, the FIS dimer began to dissociate, as noted by the change in CD signal and size-exclusion high-pressure liquid chromatography retention times and peak width. The estimated dimer dissociation constant based on the CD and size-exclusion chromatography data is in the micromolar range, resulting in a DeltaG(H(2)O) of at least 5 kcal/mole less than that calculated from the urea denaturation data. This discrepancy suggests a deviation from a two-state denaturation model, perhaps due to a marginally stable monomeric intermediate. These observations have implications for the stability and function of FIS in vivo.

The design of polymers that could mimic biomolecules in their ability to form assemblies similar to ribo- and deoxyribonucleic acids has become an attractive field of chemical research, and NMR spectroscopy has played a vital role in the determination of the three-dimensional structure of these newly designed nonnatural polymers. The structure of a self-complementary octamer duplex of pyranosyl-RNA (pRNA) has been determined by using NMR spectroscopy experimental data and an Xplor structure calculation protocol. The structure has been compared with the structure of a duplex formed by a designed nucleo-delta-peptide analogue of pRNA. The two duplexes assume one predominant conformation and show a high structural similarity. The conformation type of both structures agrees with those predicted based on qualitative conformational analysis and both structures show a good convergence toward the average torsion angles derived by NMR spectroscopy.

The existing QoS research is concentrated on mathematical models using MOS/R-factor estimation. The Research Department Technopark of the Central Science Research Telecommunication Institute (ZNIIS) has applied the service degradation model on a private model network and tested it under various payloads using different network technologies. The obtained results have shown irregular distribution of MOS/R for different services (service profiles - service modifications), which radically contradicts to the requirements of various traffic network performance (NP) defined by the international standards (ITU-T). The present paper describes the limited values of network performance and network productivity estimation approach for services with required QoS. Besides, the statistics of QoS behavior (MOS/R for etalon service) at various payloads and segment of network (access and transport stratum) are given. In conclusion, the typical recommendations for network operators are given including parameters for network configuration at different segments.

L11, a protein of the large ribosomal subunit, binds to a highly conserved domain of 23S rRNA and mediates ribosomal GTPase activity. Its C-terminal domain is the main determinant for rRNA binding, whereas its N-terminal domain plays only a limited role in RNA binding. The N-terminal domain is thought to be involved in interactions with elongation and release factors as well as with the antibiotics thiostrepton and micrococcin. This report presents the NMR solution structure of the full-length L11 protein from the thermophilic eubacterium Thermotoga maritima in its free form. The structure is based on a large number of orientational restraints derived from residual dipolar couplings in addition to conventional NOE-based restraints. The solution structure of L11 demonstrates that, in contrast to many other multidomain RNA-binding proteins, the relative orientation of the two domains is well defined. This is shown both by heteronuclear 15N-relaxation and residual dipolar-coupling data. Comparison of this NMR structure with the X-ray structure of RNA-bound L11, reveals that binding not only induces a rigidification of a flexible loop in the C-terminal domain, but also a sizeable reorientation of the N-terminal domain. The domain orientation in free L11 shows limited similarity to that of ribosome-bound L11 in complex with elongation factor, EF-G.
