Morpho-taxonomic studies of cetrarioid lichens from India recorded 46 species representing Cetraria, Melanelia, Nephromopsis, and Platismatia. Nephromopsis awasthii is described as new to science; and Cetraria endochrysea, C. sinensis, Melanelia agnata, Nephromopsis ciliaris, N. morrisonicola, N. pseudocomplicata, N. pseudoweberi, N. rugosa, N. weii, and N. yunnanensis are reported for the first time from India. A key to all genera and species of cetrarioid lichens in India is provided together with their detailed morphotaxonomic characters and distribution.

The crustose lichen genus Pertusaria comprises over ca. 800 species worldwide. In total, 20 Pertusaria species were localized to the Mt. Sorak and Jeju-do in Korea. To date, information regarding the distribution of Pertusaria species in the South Korean peninsula is scarce. In this study, we collected Pertusaria species across South Korea and identified them based on morphological, chemical, and molecular characteristics. Of the 387 samples collected, we identified 24 taxa and 1 variety, of which 17 were previously recorded, and 6 taxa were newly found in South Korea (P. leioplaca, P. leucosora var. violascens, P. texana, P. thiospoda, P. thwaitesii, and P. xanthodes), 2 known species were transferred to Varicellaria (Varicellaria lactea and V. velata), one species was transferred to Variolaria as a new record (Variolaria multipunctoides) and one was a new species (P. jogyeensis J. S. Park & J.-S. Hur, sp. nov.). Characteristics of the newly discovered species, P. jogyeensis, are as follows: smooth to bumpy thallus, scattered to crowded poriform apothecia, blackish ostioles, definitely sunken, thin yellowish green rims around ostioles, 8-spored ascus, and the presence of perlatolic acid and thiophaninic acid (chlorinated xanthone). Phylogenetic studies on P. jogyeensis based on the mitochondrial small subunit sequence revealed proximity to P. flavicans and P. texana, and supported its classification as a new species within the genus Pertusaria. Additionally, we describe the chemical composition and morphology of all listed species in detail and provide an artificial key for identification.

A new species, Ovealmbornia reginae from South Africa, is described, illustrated and compared with related species. A combined phylogenetic data set based on ITS and 28S nrLSU and 12S mtSSU sequences of the genera in the Dufourea clade is provided, (i. e. the genera Dufourea, Jackelixia, Langeottia, Ovealmbornia and Xanthokarrooa). Corrections of GenBank data for the genus Ovealmbornia and a key to the species of the genera Ovealmbornia and Xanthokarrooa are provided.

Three monophyletic branches are strongly supported in a phylogenetic analysis of the Teloschistaceae based on combined data sets of internal transcribed spacer and large subunit nrDNA and 12S small subunit mtDNA sequences. These are described as new monotypic genera: Jasonhuria S. Y. Kondr., L. Lőkös et S. -O. Oh, Loekoesia S. Y. Kondr., S. -O. Oh et J. -S. Hur and Olegblumia S. Y. Kondr., L. Lőkös et J. -S. Hur. Three new combinations for the type species of these genera are proposed.

New genus Upretia S. Y. Kondr., A. Thell and J. S. Hur is characterized by partly pruinose, lobate to subsquamulose, olivaceous grey to brown thallus, small ascospores and narrowly bacilliform conidia. It belongs to the subfamily Caloplacoideae of the Teloschistaceae and includes the ‘Caloplaca’ amarkantakana clade. The new genus is closely related to Ioplaca Poelt according to phylogeny analysis based on ITS1/ITS2 nrDNA, 28S nrLSU and 12S mtSSU sequences. The new combination Upretia amarkantakana is proposed Caloplaca amarkantakana Y. Joshi and Upreti.

The taxonomy of the family Teloschistaceae is undergoing tremendous changes in recent times. India has rich diversity of Teloschistaceae with over 100 taxa. The huge specimen collections of Teloschistaceae housed at LWG are revisited and three species, Oxneria huculica, Variospora flavescens and Zeroviella esfahanensis are reported as new records for India. The paper also discuss some interesting observation on Golubkovaea trachyphylla, Seirophora contortuplicata, Massjukiella candelaria and M. polycarpa

Phaeophyscia esslingeri, a new species for science, is described from South Korea, Eastern Asia, compared with closely related taxa and illustrated with photographs. It is similar to Phaeophyscia hirtella, but diff ers by larger and light grey thallus, wider lobes, apothecia without a corona of dark rhizines around the base, shorter cortical hairs, and wider ascospores. Status of the hairy taxa of the genus Phaeophyscia from Eastern Asia is discussed. A world-wide key to hairy species of the genus Phaeophyscia is also included.

Here we report a draft genome sequence of Caloplaca flavorubescens strain KoLRI002931, isolated from the bark of a gingko tree at Mt. Deogyu, Muju, South Korea. The genome sequence is 34,455,815 bp, with a GC content of 41.89%, consisting of 36 scaffolds.
