Abstract

As climate change has become a pressing concern, promoting electric vehicles' (EVs) usage has emerged as a popular response to the pollution caused by fossil-fuel automobiles. Locating charging stations in areas with an expanding charging infrastructure is crucial to the accessibility and future success of EVs. Nonetheless, suitable planning and deployment for EV fast-charging stations is one of the most critical determinants for large-scale EV adoption. Installing charging stations in existing fuel/gas stations in the city may be an effective way to persuade people to adopt EVs. In this paper, we aim to optimally locate a fast-charging station in an existing gas station in the real-world scenario of Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The purpose is to locate and size fast-charging stations in such ways that drivers can get access to these charging facilities within a rational driving range while considering real-world constraints. Furthermore, we include the investment cost and the EVs users' convenience cost. This problem is formulated by five integer linear programming using a weighted set covering models. The developed model determines where to locate charging stations as well as how many chargers should be installed in each charging station. The experimental results demonstrate that an appropriate location scheme can be obtained using the model M[sub.5]. Abstract

The development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has now reached some entirely unexpected domains. Many applications in modern cities lead to novelties, resulting in new habits of the citizens of tomorrow's smart cities. These innovations include Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). An important application domain of ITS is undoubtedly represented by the dynamic and optimized management of traffic-lighted road intersections. Although several works have already been presented in the literature over the years, many have not considered the new perspectives regarding the source of data to manage traffic lights, i.e., not only Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), but, mainly, the vehicular communications. This paper introduces an innovative approach to dynamically regulating traffic light cycles and phases in an isolated intersection. The suggested method can fit data management from WSNs and vehicular communications through IEEE 802.11p and LTE-V2V, employing various Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLCs) that manage vehicles turning movements for dynamic controls of both the phase and the green time of traffic lights. The results obtained will allow us to observe that the proposed application is better than the others. Abstract

Background Gram-negative bacteremia (GNB) is a major cause of illness and death after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), and updated epidemiological investigation is advisable. Methods We prospectively evaluated the epidemiology of pre-engraftment GNB in 1118 allogeneic HSCTs (allo-HSCTs) and 1625 autologous HSCTs (auto-HSCTs) among 54 transplant centers during 2014 (SIGNB-GITMO-AMCLI study). Using logistic regression methods. we identified risk factors for GNB and evaluated the impact of GNB on the 4-month overall-survival after transplant. Results The cumulative incidence of pre-engraftment GNB was 17.3% in allo-HSCT and 9% in auto-HSCT. Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were the most common isolates. By multivariate analysis, variables associated with GNB were a diagnosis of acute leukemia, a transplant from a HLA-mismatched donor and from cord blood, older age, and duration of severe neutropenia in allo-HSCT, and a diagnosis of lymphoma, older age, and no antibacterial prophylaxis in auto-HSCT. A pretransplant infection by a resistant pathogen was significantly associated with an increased risk of posttransplant infection by the same microorganism in allo-HSCT. Colonization by resistant gram-negative bacteria was significantly associated with an increased rate of infection by the same pathogen in both transplant procedures. GNB was independently associated with increased mortality at 4 months both in allo-HSCT (hazard ratio, 2.13; 95% confidence interval, 1.45–3.13; P Conclusions Pre-engraftment GNB is an independent factor associated with increased mortality rate at 4 months after auto-HSCT and allo-HSCT. Previous infectious history and colonization monitoring represent major indicators of GNB. Clinical Trials registration NCT02088840.

Abstract

The improvements made over the years in automotive transportation field are significant, between them the most relevant is the one related to autonomous vehicles (CAVs) and regards several aspects as performance, comfort, low emission but especially safety. Such aspect represents the one that mostly motivated research studies because according to international data roadway accidents is among the first ten causes of death in the world, in order to outline the importance of this problem it can be considered that every year all over the world roadway incidents cause between 20 and 50 millions of injured people wich from an economical point of view costs at least to an amount corresponding to 90% of global GDP (gross domestic product). In most cases the reason that causes an accident is human mistakes, that is why it is useful to equipe vehicles technologies and systems so to achieve the goal of correct as much as possible human mistakes. It is expected that since 2035 there will be a quantity of autonomous vehicles of 75% then the economic impact on automotive sector since 2030 is expected to be around 71 billion with a global market of 44 million vehicles.
